About this apartment rental
'Alki-Soundview' is located just 25 min. (15 miles) from SeaTac Int'l Airport and 20 min. (7 miles by car) from downtown Seattle. [The high-rise West Seattle Bridge reopened on September 18, 2022 after a 2 1/2 year closure. ] Guests will enjoy the wonderful views from your apartment of Puget Sound, the Olympic Mtns, and looking over Alki Beach/Point from this well-appointed, garden level apartment (1200 sq feet) on Genesee Hill in West Seattle.
This private apartment has one bedroom with a queen-sized bed, one bathroom with a large tile shower (no tub). The apartment can accommodate five people. Additional, sleeping beds are fold out beds. We charge $15 per person per night for guests after the first two.
The large, fully furnished kitchen includes all major appliances and a coffeemaker and toaster. Parking is available on the dead-end street beside the apartment. We list exclusively on VRBO/Homeaway and affiliates. If you find this listing on Craigslist, it is fraudulent.
Relax outside in your private covered entrance area with your favorite beverage and enjoy the view over Alki Beach/Point, Puget Sound, the Olympic Mountains, and Islands.
'Alki-Soundview' is a perfect home- base with which to explore the Greater Seattle area. Walk down the hill to Alki Beach (.7 mi.) for picnicking, biking, tennis, beach volleyball and walking or jogging several miles of beach walk, exploring and enjoying water-oriented activities.
Good public bus transport, walk-on Water taxi to downtown, and WA State Ferries to Vashon Island and Kitsap Peninsula, affords you the opportunity to access all the entertainment, and sights of interest of the region. Also consider using Uber or Lyft which are readily available plus several car or bike sharing services. There are lots of places to see: Seattle Center (Space Needle, Science Center, Museum of Pop Culture), Pike Place Market, the Central Waterfront, Pioneer Square, Seattle Downtown, Capitol Hill, University of Washington, Boeing Tours, Museum of Flight, a fine assortment of museums and Pro Sports and Performing Arts.
A note about Seattle taxes: we are disappointed to report that starting in 2019 the City has imposed a 15.7% tax vacation rentals less than 30 days long. If you are planning a long visit, you might save a lot by staying 30 days or more.
Come visit and enjoy all that we have to offer in the Northwest.

Property was immaculate great place for our stay in Seattle away from the crowd down town but only an Uber ride away from anywhere . Thought we were spending enough on Uber untill I saw some places charge 50.00 dollars for parking great place

We so enjoyed our stay here! The views were beautiful, the sunsets were spectacular, and John and Katherine were wonderful hosts. Their lovely apartment was so perfect for my husband and I. We had everything we needed and enjoyed our morning walks to the beach. I would highly recommend.

This place was awesome. Super clean, beautiful views of the mountains and sea. The neighborhood was like a town out of a movie. I couldn't have asked for anything more.

What a beautiful apartment - spotless and very homey with lots of personal decorating touches. The kitchen was very well equipped and the bed was comfy. The location was perfect for our visit and THE VIEW was amazing!! Checkin was easy and the host helped us bring in suitcases which was very nice. Highly recommend staying here and we look forward to returning again!

Great West Seattle quiet neighborhood. Property just as described. Comfortable one-bedroom with a great bed and bathroom shower. Amazing views of Puget Sound and all the boat traffic. Binoculars would come in handy while sitting outside on the bench. Kitchen has everything. There are some steps to walk up to the door, so be aware of that. Property is on a steep hill. Felt very secure in the neighborhood. Truly, one of our best vrbo experiences. Hope to stay again when we next visit our family.

It was the best decision to stay in this property during my stay in Seattle for around 2 months. It only take less than 20 mins by car to Seattle downtown. The neighboring area are full of friendly people and beautiful sight to be hold.
The owners are very helpful and friendly. I highly recommend anyone looking for place to rent in Seattle to consider this place.
PS. I strongly recommend you have your own transportation method.

This is the second time we were able to stay at this home. First time was several years ago. It was even more delightful for the second visit. The owners have kept the space in immaculate condition. Every thing you need is there from the start. And they were quick to respond with help and questions when it was needed. The view from the space is stunning, and of course is different every day, and time of day. We were able to get some work done while there, as well. The location was perfect to get to the beach or the main junction. Definitely a keeper spot for our visits to family in West Seattle.

First, all the communication with Kathryn and John was excellent: before the booking was made; after the booking was made and before our arrival; and after we arrived. In addition to any questions that arose, the apartment had written information - in a binder and strategically positioned notes - that addressed our questions as they arose. This is one of the most intelligently and logically run VRBOs that we've encountered.
As for the location, we couldn't have asked for more. We enjoyed the walk along Alki Beach, in one direction, and then a walk along Beach Drive, in the opposite direction, that took us to Lincoln Park. Believe it or not, there are secluded/rustic park hiking opportunities in this city within a city: check out nearby Schmitz Preserve and a little farther away is Camp Long.
Getting back to the airport was so easy via a ride share service early on the weekday morning. Otherwise, we used public bus transportation to get to all parts of Seattle and beyond at all hours. We even tried the water taxi - great fun.
As vegans, we especially enjoyed grocery shopping at Metropolitan Market in West Seattle. We tried vegan options at the following locations: Cactus, A La Mode, Box Bar, and Luna Park Cafe - all in West Seattle
Thank you to Kathryn and John for an excellent experience.

Everything was perfect about this VRBO. The location was outstanding, about four miles from downtown Seattle, yet it felt miles away. The view of the sound and mountains took our breath away. It was the perfect, comfortable, secure getaway for our week stay. The host were very kind. Don't miss out on this one.

This was a beautiful, clean, cozy, spacious apartment with amazing views. We stayed from May 24 through May 31 and enjoyed our stay at Kathryn and John's apartment. It was the perfect place for us to walk to my brother's home on Beach Drive and an exhilarating walk to the beach and restaurants. The apartment is also a convenient location for the water taxi and if you have a vehicle, the ferry. Kathryn and John provide clear instructions and plenty of recommendations for dining. Grab a cider at Locust, a delicious meal at Harry's Beach House, or Cactus. Don't forget breakfast at Alki cafe. Oh, and I should mention the absolutely BEST croissants from Bakery Nouveau. We HIGHLY recommend this EXCEPTIONAL apartment! It will be our first choice when we return to Seattle.

We stayed at Kathryn and John's West Seattle rental unit from May 12 to May 19, 2023.
Great location and wonderful views from the kitchen and living room. And the landscaping on the premise is well-done.
This rental unit is comfortable, has great views from the kitchen and living room windows, is spacious and was a great place to begin the day and then unwind after our daily excursions.
The location of this unit is conveniently located and although we drove most of the time, we also took the water taxi that only takes 15 minutes from/to West Seattle and downtown Seattle.
In addition to this comfortable unit, we found useful the notebook that Kathryn and John put together of West Seattle restaurants and other amenities. It was helpful that they indicated some of their favorites. From their recommendations, we picked up box lunches from Husky’s Deli for our trip to Mt. Rainier, purchased fabulous Halibut from Seattle Fish Company for preparation at the rental unit. Delicious! Purchased more than once, amazing croissants from the Bakery Nouveau. This bakery has the best croissants that we have had since living a year in Paris and then frequently visiting thereafter. And then on our last day before catching our flight home, we ate lunch at Duke’s Seafood. Their crab “un” cake was great. All these places are a short driving distance from this lovely rental unit.
We enjoyed our stay very much.

Alki-Soundview was beautiful, clean and spacious. The view was spectacular. My husband really enjoyed his morning runs along the Alki Beach. It was a perfect place for a delightful weekend get away in the PNW! We did wish that TV in the bedroom is a little bigger :)

We loved this place. We went to Seattle for the first time for a few MLB games. We stayed at this gem on Alki. The view from the BnB is beautiful like the pictures. We did not rent a car and the weather happened to be cold and drizzly for 4 out of the 5 days but we had a great time. This place is totally doable without a vehicle. Download the myorca app for your phone, it costs $8 dollars per day total to go pretty much anywhere in the city by bus, train, or ferry. The walk down to the bus stop takes about 10 minutes but it's easy and pretty. There is a trip planner feature within the app telling you what time the bus comes and which train to get on, it's super efficient and reliable. On the way back to the BnB we would stop around the Safeway grocery store to grab whatever and take an Uber from there to avoid the steep walk uphill back to the BnB. It cost about 18 dollars per night but still better than parking everywhere and the hassle of driving. The accommodations were cozy and comfortable, the shower was nice and hot, John and Kathryn are friendly and gracious. If you want to watch Netflix or whatever you want to bring a firestick but they do have cable and tvs in the living room and bedroom which was great. Alki Beach is super cool and the perfect area to stay in. It is close enough to the city but far enough away too. Fire Tacos, Dukes Seafood & Chowder, and Salty's were all delicious. Kahuna Dave at the Alki Surf Shop was super nice. My gf and I were both very happy.

This property was 7 minutes from my nephew’s house. It was a wonderful place to stay! It’s very close to Alki Beach but not in the traffic of it. It takes only a few minutes to drive to the beach and restaurants. The view of Puget Sound from our windows was stunning. The rental was super clean and very comfortable. I love not having to search for a parking space. We are definitely staying here on all of our return trips to Seattle.
