Area Info
What makes Lake St. George so special is its secluded, yet central location in mid-coast Maine, only minutes from the ocean -- 20 minutes from historic coastal Belfast, 45 mins. from Augusta to west and Camden/Rockport to east, Damariscotta to south, and only 30 mins. south to Blueberry Pie at Moody's Diner and the awesome gourmet delights at Morse's Deli! The lake is rated second in Maine for water quality--our lake association pays close attention to every boat at the public launch! You'll find a few casual local hangouts for dinner or take-out, John’s famous and delicious homemade ice cream 3 mins away...and there's always pick-up groceries, pizza or movie rentals at the local gas station! Fine dining is as close as Lincolnville, and great shopping/art/culture in Camden/Rockport! Fun day trips include north to Acadia and Bar Harbor, or south to Freeport, Boothbay, Pemaquid Beach, Monhegan Island, etc. The ocean isn't far at all, if you can drag yourself away from the lake!

The location of the property is convenient. However, a property nearby was installing a new septic system so we heard the noisy backhoe-mounted jackhammer for three days (all day).
I checked the main bedroom and the bed looked hastily made so I pulled back the covers and wondered if the bedding had been changed. It made me so uneasy I decided to change the bed to be sure we had clean sheets. I found sheets in another bedroom that weren't folded but wadded and thrown in a pile.
There was no hairdryer. Luckily, I borrowed one from my daughter-in-law.
The towels and sheets didn't smell clean.
Kitchen utensils were a hodge-podge of items.
The shower head is a 3-part nozzle, and the middle nozzle didn't work so water came down on both sides, but not in the middle.
The gas grill was nice.
Aside from the above items mentioned, it was a nice stay.

Charming cabin with lake views. We had great recommendations for dinner. AEgirs Den Meadery in Liberty. Amazing meal, delicious mead. Convenient to local craft brewery. A delightful stay.

We enjoyed staying in the cabin very near access to the lake. If you like fishing, kayak this is best location. To improve no AC in the rooms, the step down to the lake is broken hazardous for us but navigate through it with safety, the room privacy & bathroom doors are all broken, knock if its your turn.. We enjoy our stay.

We loved staying at the lake and felt right at home at this property.

While its a lovey lake, we were sent the wrong instructions and contact info for entry. waited 1.5 hours without reply and left to go home after a 2 hour drive to get there. Owner of the camp called and attempted to blame US for not wating "long enough". also the dock and water entry are Extremely precarious. I couldn't have gotten in even if we'd stayed.

Great Lil Lake Retreat
Perfect spot to enjoy some time on the water. This lake is very clean. The cabin is a quiet spot with a great big lawn and a view of the lake that you can relax at, but there is also a convenience store, ice cream shop and brewery just up the road that you could walk to. The cabin was very clean and well equipped to cook dinner and BBQ outside.

Lake St. George is great, but...
Lake St. George is wonderful. It is one of the quietest and cleanest lakes in Maine. We have stayed with friends there, nearly every year, for over twenty years. Unfortunately, this camp was a disappointment and I have already communicated my concerns to the owner.
The place had a very strong musty smell that was especially persistent in the master bedroom. It had been a very wet summer in Maine and I understand that an older cabin may not have adequate foundation waterproofing and ventilation, and this place falls into that category.
The place was not clean. Cobwebs abound. The microwave had a terrible smell and the garbage and returnable cans were filthy.
There were several electrical safety and convenience issues, such as a missing receptacle cover plate and dimmer switch knobs missing.
There is a very crude and unstable set of stones that are intended to act as steps in order to get to the lake. A sign advising that the steps are dangerous is in place, so one has been advised. If a guest has mobility issues, this is not the place for them.
The dock is quite small and one of the joys of being at any lake is to sit on a dock and enjoy the view. This dock can accommodate a few chairs, but be careful getting into and out of your chair, as there is the smallest of room to maneuver. Other people, not staying at the camp, also appear to use the dock and the kayaks, so if you are looking for privacy this is not the place for you.
We will return to Lake St. George, but, sadly, not to this cabin.

Would stay again!
My kids and I enjoyed the easy access to the lake and kayaking. I especially liked the way the bedrooms were set up made for easy sleeping arrangements since my kids don’t always like to be in their own rooms when we travel. There was a brewery, a cafe, an ice cream place, and a gas station all just a few minutes away which was also very convenient.

Great weekend get away
The cabin was lovely! The beds were comfy and the place was clean. We didn’t come in season, so can’t say much about the lake usage (other than it was pretty). It was a quiet neighborhood without a lot to do in the town (again, we came out of season, and it looked like more would open after April).
We had a great stay and would recommend this property and we would absolutely rent again!!

Relaxing!
My family had a great time at the cabin. It was so relaxing!! The view to the lake was nice & I loved the interior decor!
Our biggest problem was the snow & ice on the walkway to the cabin & on the road getting out of the cabin. The walkway needed to be shoveled & the road really needed to be sanded/salted. Even w/ snow tires, we almost were not able to get up the road & leave to go home. If you go in the winter, I would bring a couple of bags of rock salt to make sure your vehicle can get up the hill.

Nice cabin for family A few parts could have been cleaned better. It’s across the rd but still close to the water which we weren’t expecting. We thought the property was on the water from the listing. Overall we had a good time.

I have no complaints other than the cleanliness of the home. When we arrived the appliances were dirty and had not been cleaned out at all and there was quite a few spiders and webs on some of the walls.Other than that it’s a very beautiful home and was very accommodating for my friends and I during our girls trip!

Fun on the lake
Nice, large house with lots of extras. Loved the kayaks, stand up paddle board, fire pit, BBQ and games like ping pong in the basement (great to have on a rainy day). Bathroom could have been a little cleaner (clump of hair in shower drain, lots of dead bugs and spider webs), rest of house was great though. Entry to water was really tricky, stairs or a ladder off the dock would be helpful. Also, be careful if you bring your dog, ours unfortunately got sprayed by a skunk the first night. Overall we all had a great visit!

Quiet and Beautiful
The house has everything you could want. It is in a quiet location, close to the lake. The access to the lake, however, is very tricky and I would not recommend it for children or the elderly. My husband enjoyed fishing off the dock, and we both enjoyed long walks around the lake. Our grown children liked the standup paddle board.

Very special place
This log cabin on Lake St. George was a perfect retreat for my week in Maine - welcoming and comfortable. The loons calling morning and evening, and the ever changing light on the lake are just two of my favorite aspects. The cabin has been lovingly updated over the years, and I especially appreciated the spacious tiled shower! Both Tara and Jamie Marple were cordial and helpful. Hoping to come back again!

The cabin meet all our needs for a family et together in Maine.
It was great to have access to the kayaks and the paddle board. Lots of fun. We also enjoyed sitting around the fire pit in the evening. It is a great location on Lake St. George.

Rustic Maine cabin
The place is pretty much as described by the prior reviewers. People should know that there is a uneven slope from the driveway to the house. Not easy for people with disabilities. The house is a typical Maine cottage. The dock had not been put in yet and the house needs a good spring cleaning as there were cobwebs and windows need washing. The bathroom had used soap in the shower and the bathmat was dirty when we got there. We had issues working the tv as prior people never signed out of Netflix.

Wonderful time, as always. :)
As always, it was a great time. Love that there are two kyaks and a paddle board a ail able for use plus extra life jackets. One toddler size with crotch strap, two young child size, and various adult sizes. One of the best locations on the lake. The Sherman camp road is a friendly but quiet place. The camp lot is large with a fire pit and new outdoor lounge chairs, grill, etc... buy your own fire wood before you get there. It isn't provided. Lots of condiments in camp as well so I would see what is there before you go buy a ton like we did. Although that is convenient, we are weird about using open condiments not knowing how long they've been there so I would recommend they hang a black sharpie from the fridge so you can write the opened date on the bottles. We used the available green sharpie to do that but it was hard to see. I think they should thin out the supply a bit too before people get there. There were 3 bottles of ketchup, two things of mayo, etc...it was pretty crowded in the fridge door.
Looks like they are doing some updating so the crown moulding was partially down but it may look good when they are done.
Glad they have a stationary bike there. My husband used it since he has a big bike race coming up and was worried his legs wouldnt be ready. It's certainly better than doing nothing for a week! Overall, I would recommend to anyone! :) Enjoy your stay!

Very nice location. Quiet. House needs some maintenance. Refrigerator and cupboards could be cleaned out some.

Great vacation lake
The positive: It's a very beautiful lake.... crystal clear. The house comes w two kayaks and a paddle board. ( fun ! ) There's a wonderful granite beach with huge rocks within walking distance. The beds are very comfortable. The kitchen is well equipped. It's a quiet, safe and friendly area and you can hear the loons at night. There's a great breakfast place right up the road.
The cons: the house is not lakefront..... (although it's VERY close.) The dock is kind of high above the water and a small steep rock area make it a bit difficult to get the kayaks in and out of the water.

So relaxing and cozy. Great location!
It is cozy and comfortable and located on a wonderful camp road. Ideal for families. We had use of the two kayaks and paddleboard! We enjoyed watching the loons swim by the dock and the glassy water in the evening. Camp was inviting with comfy beds and kids loved the air hockey table and fooseball table.
Comfortable beds. Front door needs to be planed to open easier. I would recommend to others for sure.
