About this cabin rental
Enjoy the beautiful view of the Blue Ridge Mountains in Deep Gap, NC. Our cabin is just off the Blue Ridge Parkway just before Hwy 421 passes under the the Blue Ridge Parkway (mile marker 277) at an altitude of 3400 feet near Stoney Fork Overview.
We are perched at the Eastern Continental Divide looking southwest. Winding down the last 1.8 miles among majestic trees and mountain views will start to reset your 'busy life' mindset. A gentle climb, that only requires 4-wheel drive in heavy snowfalls in the winter, delivers you to a most unassuming paradise at the end of Frog Hollar road. The cabin is nestled on 1.5 acres and gives way to miles of spectacular view. You will be inspired by a feeling of peace and solitude that will not be disturbed by any visible neighboring cabins or homes from any of the four cabin decks.
This is a very warm and inviting traditional cedar log cabin with views from each of the four decks and nearly every window! The main level has the master bedroom, recently renovated kitchen, and living room with cozy gas log fireplace, inviting furniture and deck that overlooks the beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains. The third bedroom is in the loft area, and has its own private deck. The lower level has a family room with sofa and a bedroom with two single pine-pole beds and full bath.
A six-person hot tub provides great relaxation after a strenuous hike, skiing day, or just for fun. A fire pit also makes for the mountainy feel of camping under the stars. (Always remember to completely extinguish any campfires)
The cardinals and hummingbirds love hanging out at our cabin, and are entertaining to watch while enjoying morning coffee. Watch the sunset, or an approaching thunderstorm, with an evening cocktail around the comfortable dinette or in one of two oversized rockers. The deer and turkeys like to frolic about, too! There is plenty of hiking in the area including some interesting trails off of the scenic Blue Ridge Parkway. Take your camera and a small bag to collect wild blackberries and blueberries.
While the cabin is very secluded and quiet, it is only minutes to lots of activities should you decide to leave the beauty and serenity of the cabin. With a 40Amp EV charger, The cabin is a short ride for electric or gas powered cars into Boone (sporting a college vibe), Blowing Rock (retirement village feel), West Jefferson (Southern artisan feel) as well as many smaller quaint communities.
This is a unique property for people who value quiet time, great views and bonding with nature. The cabin is about 20 minutes to Boone (via hwy 421), Blowing Rock (via the BR Parkway), or West Jefferson (vis hwy 221), and a stone's throw to the beautiful and scenic Blue Ridge Parkway.
Note: on weekdays it is not unusual for 2 to 4 military jets to fly by as we must be in a 'training corridor'. This last for about 5-6 seconds and is pretty awesome to see but also can be loud. We have never seen this on the weekends or in the evenings or night time.
The cabin is complete with every amenity including fiber Internet access that lets you stay in touch and find the latest mountain entertainment. Play Station II is also available should you need a session of 'Guitar Hero', or Kareoke American Idol' to complete a great day. A piano keyboard is also available for mountain musicians. Enjoy your own music on the bluetooth enable soundbar on the main floor or 'cast' the pictures you took that day on the TV downstairs using the google chromecast.
(Fiber internet arrived in February 2024).

Frog Hollar was exactly as described and more! We enjoyed every second of our stay! Very quiet and restful — exactly what we wanted!

Looking for a relaxing, no stress get away in the mountains. This is our second stay here and the first in early April. Cold and a few snow flurries, but great spot for recharging and relaxing.

We absolutely loved this cabin. The views were breathtaking sitting on the rocking chairs and in the hot tub. The cabin had all the amenities needed for making your stay comfortable. Greg was a wonderful host and had a book full of special attractions to visit. Thank you for making our Christmas vacation so memorable!

This property has a spectacular view of the Blue Ridge Mountains from the rear upper deck. The cabin is comfortable, well-appointed, and private. A perfect place for a relaxing getaway. The location is near multiple hiking trails with amazing views and/or waterfalls. Dining out is a short trip by car into Boone or Blowing Rock. This is our second visit and plan to return again soon.

Well stocked and very quiet/serene location - the last house on the road. Three levels of outdoor decks and fire pit make for great outdoor space to enjoy. Approx 20 min to Boone. Check out West Jefferson too - cute small town with great shops, views and eateries.

What a nice property. Everything you need with a great view. The location is private and peaceful. Highly recommend!

Good place to relax and take a break from the everyday goings-on. Great covered deck off the main level to enjoy the view over coffee or cocktails. Neighborhood area was good for walking our dog. We had a nice stay.

We enjoyed our first visit last year to Frog Hollar so much, we came back again! I cannot possibly include all the reasons we love staying here, I’m hoping we can make it a yearly tradition!

We couldn’t be happier with our stay at Frog Hollar. The cottage was so clean when we arrived and check in was easy. Greg gave us lots of suggestions for things to do, places to explore, and where to go out to eat. Though we mostly cooked at home to take advantage of the beautiful patio. We had our dogs with us and it was a perfect set up for them with completely enclosed patios so they could hang with us too. The area that the cottage is located is perfect too - right by an entrance to the parkway and close to the town of Boone. We loved our stay and thank you so much for the hospitality. We were so sad to leave but have with us many memories of our time at Frog Hollar.

We wanted a “mountain retreat” as part of our daughter’s graduation celebration. The house was perfect and our stay was awesome. High quality of the master shower and major appliances was a nice surprise. Spotty internet and specific checkout instructions the only very slight annoyances. Highly recommended!!

Great location at the end of a long, well maintained gravel road. Very convenient to the Blue Ridge Parkway. The owners have created a well appointed home that was very comfortable and super-clean.

Frog Hollar was a perfect size for my family of four (2 teen sons) to spread out & also have quality "together" time. It has all the standard comforts of a mountain getaway: decks on every level with lovely ridge view, firepit (professionally hardscaped!), outdoor hot tub. Also, there are nice touches like a porch swing, Dolby Atmos sound system in the basement, a lending library, binoculars, coffee & coffee filters, pantry staples (spices, cooking spray, foil, etc), facial tissues, and access to cleaning supplies for household maintenance during our stay. We are getting to know the Boone area with our older son a freshman at App State, and the owners have put together a thoughtful information binder of local eats & attractions (where I learned of the Ben Long frescoes). The first couple days of our stay were foggy, but we woke up on a glorious Easter morning to the rising sun illuminating distant ridges. It was on this sunny day that we enjoyed the outdoor spaces (hot tub & fire pit), discovering that the decks are bone fide open air living spaces when the weather allows. Considering this, I decided that we could even share Frog Hollar with my in-laws, if necessary. :)

Only small issue was that the hot tub was not working as advertised but Greg informed us in advance and was fair and transparent about the situation. It didn’t affect our stay at all and we would definitely come back.

The 2 mile drive on a gravel road to the cabin helped set the stage for a long, relaxing weekend in the woods of the Blue Ridge Mountains. The cabin was everything we expected and more. Views from the first floor deck were spectacular. The cabin was clean, tastefully appointed and had all the utensils, plates and glassware we needed. Our only regret is that we didn't have an opportunity to enjoy the fire pit and hot tub. Next time! Great hosts with excellent communication! Highly recommend this property but please don't book on a week when we want to return!

What I love about this cabin is the unbelievable view from the decks, the privacy, and the close proximation to the Parkway, Jefferson, Blowing Rock and Boone! Cabin has all the amenities you need! Responsive owner.

We had a great experience at Deep Gap. Mountain Views were great, as advertised! Cabin was clean and ready for our stay. When we contacted the property manager he responded quickly. We will book Derp Gap again!

This cabin was better than expected! The pictures did not show the spaciousness that was reality. Additionally, the location is amazing…so close to so much! The owner was extremely easy to work with regarding some special conditions. We hope to return next year!!!

This was our second stay at Frog Hollar. We love the location and the cozy cabin. The host is also great and is very quick to help. We have tried other cabins in the area and they tended to be less nicely furnished and missing some of the basic things we are looking for in a good stay.

Awesome views, clean, new appliances, roomy, nice interior decorations, loved the frog hardware. Good road up to the cabin, tho didn't try at dark. Saw deer and humming birds. Just what we needed for relaxation and rejuvenation .

Perfect seclusion!
We live at the beach and wanted to get our dogs away from the massive amount of fireworks, so we were looking for something secluded.
Oh my goodness, we were not disappointed!
Close enough to Boone and Blowing Rock for day trips, with relaxing evenings…we were even able to watch the fireworks straight across the mountains from the top porch.
The house was beautiful! Providing everything you might need, being able to just arrive and start enjoying your time is really helpful and very much appreciated!
What a wonderful trip!

Great stay with great views!
Had a great week here. The weather was perfect, as well as the cabin. Plenty of privacy, and some great views, especially at sunset. The cabin has everything you could ever need. Great place to unwind and relax.

Great Get Away
The property and view are beautiful. Really enjoyed the hot and relaxing jacuzzi and a couple of nights roasting marshmallows and making smores by the fire in the firepit. Also, enjoyed log walks with the dogs. Everyone had a great time.
Although the property is high enough on the mountain to have fantastic mountain views, it was easy to get to, not steep drives or roads to get to property.
Would highly recommend.

I rented this gorgeous cabin for 11 days. The location is located close to Boone, West Jefferson, and Blowing Rock. It is right off the Blue Ridge Parkway. I have rented several cabins in the area over the years, and this was by far the best! Private, clean, cozy, well-stocked, multiple porches/decks and very updated! Will definitely stay here again and again! My new go-to

We love this cabin!
This was our 4th or 5th visit to this cabin since 2010! We love the view from the back porch! We did some mountain biking at the near by Rocky Knob bike park, and spent some time in downtown Boone. We plan on coming back soon!

A Little Piece of Heaven
We could not have asked for anything more! Frog Hollar offered the perfect escape- quiet, cozy, convenient to town, and full of amenities. We hike Mount Jefferson and Grayson Highlands, enjoyed amazing food in Boone and West Jefferson, and found several local breweries to enjoy! After a long days hike or exploring the town we enjoyed sitting by the fire or relaxing in the hot tub! Mornings were spent rocking on the porch and enjoying the beautiful views. Thanks for the hospitality - we look forward to our next visit!!
