Lovely cottage, clean, spacious and well equipped, woodland walks on the doorstep

This is a comfortable and well furnished house on the edge of a stretch of forest. A large, fully enclosed garden was ideal for our little Cavalier King Charles Spaniel and the house as whole is nicely arranged to accommodate hounds as well as holidayers.
We were there in mid-February so didn't get much chance to make the best of the conservatory or outdoor dining area, but in the right weather they should be delightful!

A fantastic cottage, very warm welcome by the owners kindly left the lights on for our late arrival.
A fantastic cottage, very warm welcome by the owners kindly left the lights on for our late arrival. The cottage is well equipped, the kids loved the games room. The weather wasn’t kind to us for our stay, but that did not deter us having a relaxing October half term holiday. Lots to do in the surrounding areas and this cottage is the perfect base for forest walks, visit to symonds yat, Ross-On-Wye, Gloucester or a little further a field if you prefer. Highly recommend The Red Hart Inn at Blaisdon and the Rising Sun Inn at Moseley Green for meals (especially after a muddy walk!).

Oak Tree Cottage was simply brilliant.
Oak Tree Cottage was simply brilliant. The owners daughter met us at the property when we arrived, and explained everything to us.
The property was spotless and had everything you could possibly need, and the garden was just lovely. It is quite isolated from the big wide world, but with the current situation with Covid, this was a godsend, and just what we wanted
There are walks into the forest from outside the front door, which was just lovely and great for the dogs.
Please be aware there is no shop or pub really within walking distance. The closest shops are in Cinderford, which is about a 10 min drive away. You can walk from the cottage into Ruardean, but there is really not a lot there. There is a pub, but it was shut, and to be honest, it didnt look that inviting!
I can recommend ‘Frydays’ the fish and chip shop in Littledean (just the other side of Cinderford), best fish and chips we have had for a long time!
Would we return, yes absolutely!

This cottage is incredibly well equipped, it has absolutely everything you could ever need, it really is set up as a home from home. It housed 2 adults, 4 children and 2 dogs comfortably.
Dogs are truly welcomed - spare towels and bowls are available in case you forget anything for them, the beautiful garden is enclosed and secure and there are walks through the forest from the doorstep.
There are plenty of things to do in the area (even in a pandemic!) - walks, castles, canoe hire and bike hire as well as the nearby towns and cafe's.
The owners were super helpful and I would definitely book to visit again.

The cottage is an absolute delight and in a peaceful location. Well equipped and comfortable, even the beds and sofa's which often isn't the case with holiday cottages. Being in a dark area on a clear night the stars are a sight to behold. Plenty of activities in the forest for everyone who enjoys the active life. All in all, very highly recommended.

Three generations of our family stayed in the cottage for a week. We found the description of the cottage on the website to be accurate, but it was not immediately obvious to me that this cottage is about 3/4 mile north of the village of Brierley in the small hamlet of "The Pludds", well away from the main road and very, very quiet. We really enjoyed that, and we also agree with all the enthusiastic comments made by your other reviewers. Would we like to go there again? Definitely.

Wow was the first and last think we thought about this house. It was better than we thought and the pictures and description doesn’t do it enough justice.the added extra of a basket of towels for the dog was very helpful after lovely walks through the woods which was just outside the front door. I could talk on for a long time but can honestly say the house and garden was amazing, clean and tidy and everything you could want for a lovely holiday. Next visit already being planned.

We spent a week at Oak Tree Cottage and could not have been more pleased with the welcome, the accommodation, the facilities and the location. The garden was a lot bigger than expected and was great for the dogs as it was fully enclosed. The surrounding area is great for walking as the forest is right on the door step. I would highly recommend and would definitely stay again.

Lovely house for a warm stay
Great house and great amenities in the house. Everything was very neat and tidy and the hi mouse had everything that a family needs to stay comfortably. The owner is very warm and welcoming and we had a great stay (4 adults + 2 kids). I can highly recommend this house / cottage to anyone who wants to be close to Wye/Monmouth/Brecon beacons. Pool room and a large conservatory are a bug plus.
