Perfect fall weekend
Enjoyed a quick weekend getaway on the lake in Newcastle. It was a great place to rest and watch the changing season with beautiful islands and fishing all close to town for oysters, a river cruise, and a nearby brewery. Appreciate that you are dog-friendly as well!

Dangerous dock and more on the lake
We were so looking forward to our week at this lovely place, and it was quite nice, at first glance.
Then, it was one thing after another. In the interest of keeping this brief, I’ll just say that,
1. It was summer and most of the windows did not open, so there was no air circulation, nor was there even one air conditioner in a window.
2. Renting a house on a lake with a dock that is falling apart, doesn’t have stairs and is dangerous is unacceptable.
We left 2 days early.

Amazing location and cabin
Incredible little cabin in a stunning location right next to the lake. Loved the rustic look and the beautiful views of the lake. Definitely recommend getting up early to watch the sunrise come over the lake.

Beautiful spot, great views!
This place was very clean and had terrific views. It was great for us and our two daughters for the weekend. The highlight was using the campfire pit on Saturday night looking out on the lake. The maintenance staff person was incredibly helpful - got us set up with a propane tank to use the grill. Highly recommend.

True lakefront getaway
This rental has amazing views, especially from the master bedroom. It is old dog friendly, our Bernese mountain dog was super comfortable sleeping downstairs. We visited in early spring, which is always a roll of the dice, so it was a bit cold and rainy but we still found time to visit a few breweries and take a walk in Boothbay Harbor which is only about 25 minutes away. The only thing missing was a tea kettle and a good coffee maker, but we can bring them with us next time we visit. This rental provided a well needed relaxing and restful weekend.

Beautiful, cozy home
This property was amazing and super cozy even with the colder weather. The only bummer was the dock wasn’t in the water yet, so I think returning here in the warmer weather would make for a better experience. Still wonderful overall!

Relaxing retreat
We had the most amazing stay at this cabin by the lake! The location was even better than described, check in and out was easy, and when we couldn’t figure out how to light the fireplace someone from Vacasa reached out almost immediately to help us! The cabin was a cozy retreat with all the amenities of home. And the view!!! We couldn’t have asked for a nicer place to spend the weekend- we will definitely be back.

Our stay that wasn’t
When we showed up to this lake house - the view was amazing. The space wasn’t very clean. There was a film that covered the eating table. No curtains in any of the open areas and in the direct eye shot of a motor home. If you’re looking for privacy - this isn’t your place. The trash can was full of left over trash. The windows were filthy and covered with bugs. Our 12lbs dog found some old good under the sofa and we decided to leave before we even unpacked our bags.

Enjoyable but needs some attention.
This cottage is right on the edge of a beautiful lake and is easily accessible to Damariscotta. We visited in mid-October when there was little activity on the lake and it was very quiet.
The state and comfort of the house was a mix. Bathrooms and the bedrooms were clean. There were plenty of bath towels/face cloths etc. The upstairs bed was very comfortable and one has a sense of being perched right over the lake from this charming room.

The location and the weather were wonderful. The cottage was large and comfortable and clean. It was right on the water, but lacked a canoe or kayak, and rentals were several miles away and you'd need a truck to haul them. All-in-all, a B+.

Great location. Cozy just about everything you need. Still suggest they have kyack, row boat or some type of water craft.

Ideal location. Slight house improvements can be easily done.
This is one of the best locations we’ve found in Maine. Lovely breezes right on the lake. Loons every morning and evening and eagles soaring over to their nest on the island across the way. We brought canoes and paddled our to Spectacle Island for the rope swing over the water. And the location is a great launching point for all sorts of midcoast attractions.
Some constructive feedback for this property. There were some basic/essential housewares missing:
We were given no contact info for a local property manager/ contact. Fortunately we didn’t need one during our stay.
There were no sheets for the pull out bed. We had to run into town to buy them. We left them at the house.
For a house with no dishwasher it was strange that there were no dish towels in the kitchen. We had to use wash cloths.
This is the first rental property in Maine I’ve seen without a lobster pot. Someone had been eating lobster because there were some crackers and meat picks. We bought a pot and left it with the house.
Several of the dishes in the cabinet were dirty/greasy when we arrived. We washing all the dishes in the cabinet.
For a house that accommodates 6 there should be more than 3 bowls.
There was an occasional septic smell when we ran the laundry machine.

Tidy, well kept, and convenient. Excellent experience.
Spent 6 nights in late July 2020. The home was well kept and relaxing. Private dock was nice for swimming, fishing, and excursions to the adjacent islands. While there are other homes close by (and a camper over looking the rental I was not expecting) they were well spaced and super quiet. Perfect rental for family focused vacationing with all the required amenities.

Little hidden treasure-quaint & cozy!!! A real "must"!!
This house is a little gem tucked just far enough away. We loved how cozy it was and how closely situated to the water it is. The ice fishing was great and the eagles were so entertaining morning and night. The house was immaculate and the bedroom on the second floor is glorious!!! We would highly recommend this home to anyone and we will likely return. Too bad our stay wasn't longer. We loved its proximity to cute little downtown Damariscotta. It's evident that the owners are proud of their home. They should be!!!

Overall excellent experience. However, there should be more channels on the cable television. There was only one channel available.

Perfect for a quick recharge
My husband and I stayed for 2 nights, we were looking for a short recharge where we could unplug and relax. The gas fireplace and water views provided just that. Loved the upstairs sitting area with the view. Kitchen was very well stocked. Being able to bring our pup made it even better. We didn’t leave the property once! Great for a short winter getaway!

Excellent property
We had a wonderful time in this lakefront property. It’s so closely situated to the lake that it sometimes feels like you’re on a boat. It is clean, comfortable and well appointed. The owners checked in after our arrival but otherwise let us enjoy our privacy. We highly recommend!

Great place, fantastic location
We had a wonderful time at this rental in Maine. The scenery from the living room, dining room and bedroom windows is just gorgeous. The upstairs bedroom has a couple of lounging chairs perfectly placed to sit back and take in the view.
The home had everything we needed for a comfortable stay - a nice fireplace, a well-stocked kitchen and (bonus) a washing machine! The beds were comfy and so were the sofas/chairs. We played cards at the dining room table after dinner every night and thoroughly enjoyed our time here. The nearby village was lovely - it has the store that sells everything (Reny's), lots of quaint boutiques and bars/restaurants. We went to Newcastle Publick House and were beyond happy with all the food we ordered (best oysters ever).
We really want to head back to Maine, and I can honestly say, we plan on staying at exactly the same place. Thank you

Far exceeded expectations
We had a fantastic time staying at this rental and regretted it was for only two nights. The kitchen was well stocked for us to cook breakfast every day and a dinner for the four of us one night. The fireplace was enjoyed in the evenings while we played cards at the dining room table and we were pleased to have a washing machine to launder our clothes at the halfway point of our trip. The showers worked great so all basics were covered. What we didn’t expect was the view! Simply gorgeous. The upstairs bedroom has a couple of lounging chairs looking out over the water and we all spent a lot of time staring out of the windows.
The nearby town is lovely and we enjoyed a fabulous dinner at the Newcastle Publick House. The surrounding countryside is delightful. This place is definitely on our ‘Must go back to’ list. Thank you so much.

Good overall. Fireplace wasn’t wood burning like advertised. Was gas and gas was empty. They need to get a canoe and couple of paddles. Tried to use neighbors who was in the same family. Hate to say it but lady was the only rude person we met in Maine. I understand this had nothing to do with rental but I wouldn’t rent again without access to a canoe.

Cozy small lakefront
This cottage is a cozy place for two or three adults. (There is no safe area for children to play outside; the property is on a slope with a quick drop off to the water.)The downstairs bedroom is very small; the upstairs bedroom is quite large with a sitting area overlooking the lake. Beds in both rooms are comfortable, there’s good water pressure In both bathrooms and sufficient hot water for showers, and the WiFi works well throughout the cottage. The kitchen equipment is very basic, as is the cable tv lineup. While the living room area furniture could be improved and there are some general maintenance issues I trust will be addressed before next season (condition of dock, trash removal, minor plumbing/heating problems) we had a good week (and good fishing) and will consider staying here again.
