About this house rental
Ardmorar is a spacious, contemporary home situated on two-plus private acres in a secluded woodland setting. It is located in the Old Timberline gated community adjacent to the Dolly Sods Wilderness. It is also a short drive away from Canaan Valley Ski Resort and Golf Course, as well as Blackwater Falls State Park.
This comfortable, privately owned home has a large, open living space on the main floor, with an expansive deck overlooking spectacular views of the Canaan Valley. The great room features a cathedral ceiling, a cozy wood burning fireplace, a 40-inch HD TV with DVD player, and a selection of movies and music. Wi Fi is also available. The adjacent sunroom is a great place to watch the deer outside, or play one of the many board games available. Adjacent to the deck is a hot tub, offering a relaxing outdoor experience, with fabulous views of the valley.
Two bedrooms are conveniently located on the main floor, with queen size beds and en-suite bathrooms. Bath towels and bed linens are provided. There is also a very comfortable dining area adjacent to the fully equipped kitchen. A washer and drier is also available. The entry foyer contains lots of storage space for skis and outdoor gear.
The second floor features a spacious carpeted loft with large play area which overlooks the great room. The master bedroom suite offers a large bathroom with a couples soaking tub, and a private deck.
The Canaan Valley is the perfect place to visit in any season. The cooler temperatures of the Valley in the summer make it an ideal place to get away from it all and enjoy the beauty of our majestic mountains. In the winter the skiing is great, and in the fall the leaves are among the most spectacular anywhere in our region. The historic local towns of Davis and Thomas offer quaint shops, music venues, and local hospitality.
Although the main roads are plowed by the Timberline Homeowners Association, four-wheel drive is necessary to access this property during the winter season.

Really great and memorable weekend away! The hot tub and fireplace were great. We also loved its proximity to an easy trail with a great overlook of the valley. Pretty seamless, not tons of interaction necessary

The property was everything and more! The pictures really did not do this house justice. It was so spacious and cozy. There were 4 adults and 6 kids from the ages of 13-3 and there was plenty of room for all of us. We did bring an air mattress however for extra bedding but there was still enough room up in the loft area for the full size air mattress, pull out couch and our niece to sleep on the twin size bed and still room for them to play. The deck off the master room was probably my favorite feature of the house, each morning I sat up there and enjoyed my coffee and just listening to the peacefulness that surrounded us. The kiddos also enjoyed the hottub very much, it was hard getting them out of it. The kids all really enjoyed the house and even advised us to rent it "next weekend". My husband and I are determined to rent as many houses in Old Timberline but this house is definitely on the rent again list. Everyone is always so nice and eager to answer questions guests may have. We have booked through Mountaintop for 3 year in a row now and we are already looking to book another weekend in May 2020.

It may be beneficial to tell future tenants that the doors lock differently than most.
It may be beneficial to tell future tenants that the doors lock differently than most. We all went to the hot tub the first night and locked ourselves out of the cabin. Thankfully, the front door was still unlocked from unpacking the vehicles. If not, we'd have been wet, cold, and locked out. The porch locked but no one realized it because you can still open it from the inside. The team was helpful...a little miscommunication about check-in. But, arriving late didn't help. For example, I didn't know what to do with the paperwork, so I left it in the mailbox at the office. But, when I got to the gate (didn't know there was a gate), he needed my paperwork. No big deal, just a little confusion.

I would rent from Mountaintop again in the future. Becky was absolutely terrific. She was more than accommodating. She was very helpful and friendly.

Trip Advisor Review: “Peaceful winter interlude with family”
Six members of our family stayed in this 3 bedroom-plus loft location over Christmas for 5 nights. The house is set in a large development at a gated community some miles south of Davis (easy driving distance). The houses are far enough apart so that privacy is preserved, and it's very quiet. The bedrooms are small but big enough for two people. One of the few negatives was that the Queen mattresses on all three beds were all too well-worn for comfort - trenched in the middle - so I hope those are replaced. The loft had a twin bed and a pull-out couch, and the living room was also equipped with a pull-out bed. The living room had a lovely fireplace, and firewood was available. The kitchen was fairly well equipped, but could use some TLC as well. My sons took advantage of the outdoor hot tub in the snow. There were plenty of TVs available, which we never needed to turn on. The location is convenient to several ski areas, and some great hiking areas like Blackwater Falls. One of our favorite spots in Davis is the Stumptown Ales brewery, with small bar seating area and sometimes some food for sale as well. We would go back if beds are upgraded - we all enjoyed the beautiful snowy views and the peaceful atmosphere. I communicated w/Becky over email. It was easy and she was able to answer some extra questions I asked before we arrived.

We had a very nice time and it was great spending some days off in the mountains with family. We loved the scenery, animals, and just relaxing by the fire. We were concerned when we heard it was going to snow considering it was the 3rd weekend in October. Thought we would have trouble getting out. We were surprised that once we made it out of the driveway, the roads were cleared, that was a relief. We love WV, and I'm sure our travels will bring us home to the place we belong! We had a good experience working with Mountain Top Realty, everything went well from booking to the final drop off of the keys. Our personal preference is to deal with someone we know we can trust instead of booking with someone we don't know anything about

We had a very nice visit. It was a very nice cabin where we were able to get away, enjoy the hot tub, and be so close to multiple beautiful parks. Everything was very good.

Kitchen extremely cluttered with very old pots, pans, junk and utinsels. Beds and pillows were old and uncomfortable. Bedding in general needs to be updated. Its a good house but the owner needs to invest in the basics before we will stay there again.

This house needs a fresh coat of paint, a thorough dusting, new bedding, pillows, towels, rugs, pots and pans. We said repeatedly that dude’s eating to play flip cup would be comfy on the worn out couches, but for a family wanting a clean comfortable experience, it was just too worn out and dusty for us. we left a night early to avoid the terrible beds again. Hot tub was great, location was great. Just serious updating of furniture, linens and pillows is needed. And beware of the fireplace, it filled the entire loft with smoke repeatedly.

As some other guests commented, the appliances and furnishings work well, but are showing their age. The house was clean and comfortable, and the large porch provided a beautiful places to sit and enjoy the setting. The brand new grill worked perfectly, and the foam mattress in the upstairs master suite was very comfortable. Some of the toilet seats were loose, but can be fixed easily with a little tightening. The TV and audio system was simple to operate and worked well. We especially recommend using the nearby, private Timberline trailhead to sweeping vistas in Dolly Sods. Overall, a very pleasant respite from our daily tumult.

We loved our vacation stay in the mountains. The house was spotless and the amenities great. The hot tub and soaking tub were perfect after long hikes. The children enjoyed having their own bedrooms and space to roam. Canaan Valley is always beautiful, and the cool mountain air is a nice escape from the heat and humidity of Maryland's Eastern Shore in the summer.

Great for ski weekend with kids
This place was perfect for what we needed. Not too fancy (a bit dated on the fixture side) to be worried about five little kids recking the joint, but clean and well equipped for our needs. Everything worked fine except the TV downstairs it was a bit grainy watching the olympics but we just imagined it was snow. The kids had the one upstairs running fine. The hot tub was hot, and the washer and dryer were adequate. If it's snowing 4WD is a must, we had it and would not have gotten OUT of the driveway if we didn't. Nothing can be perfect, so my one small complaint (and it wasn't a huge deal) was the firewood delivered was wet so we were only able to have some small smokey, hissing fires! Overall a great place.
