It was a little warm in the cabin ac- portables did not cool the open loft design and did not go to the back bedrooms. It was a bit damp due to humidity and portables not being enough. Great communication with Matt who wanted to discuss the stay with us so he can make changes for future guests. Great location for getting to the lake and a small beach swim area at the lake.

Property had all of the items as advertised. Kitchen well stocked. Direct contact with property manager was excellent. Easy check-in. Property could use a thorough cleaning and carpet replacement - otherwise a very nice place to stay.

this place is nestles deveral miles into the woods. A perfect getaway! it's less than 30 minutes from water access and maybe 45 minutes to 7 points marina. there's a little grocery/mini mart a few mile up the hill if smaller items are needed. the were 8 of us and had plenty of room inside. We all enjoyed the stay and would do it again in Drooly Bear 100%

Came here to reunite with some college friends and the cabin had everything we could have needed. The kitchen is well stocked for making meals, the firepit and outdoor swing were great outdoor hangout spots, there were plenty of beds and blankets for everyone, and the host was very communicative.

We absolutely love this cabin. 2024 was our 2nd year staying for four nights and we will be returning every summer. It is now our yearly family vacation spot. Thanks again :) see you in summer 2025

Everything was great except the refrigerator did not work and the out door grill needs a good cleaning. 2 Time renting the place and look forward to going back again

Refrigerator had annoying noise and freezer was frozen and refrigeration area was warm, Glad we had our Yetti.
Grill was very rusted (gas tubes) and useless for anything but burgers and dogs at best.

We have been taking a winter weekend getaway here for years, and it’s just perfect. Well appointed, clean, comfortable, quiet, and good hiking locations nearby.

We really love this place. Matt was great! We have stayed here before and we probably will be back. All the issues we had or might have had were quickly resolved. I suggest that you too come out to this cabin for a few days of relaxation in the woods.

#1, the carpets were in dire need of a thorough cleaning.
#2, the upstairs bath has only a curtain, not a door, separating it from the loft area. It has a large jetted tub, but no shower
#3, the house is under lit, IMHO. Partly because we couldn’t get the ceiling fan light in the great room on (the the other ceiling fan light in the loft was very dim). Also, the multiheaded floor lamp in the main area had only 2 working bulbs out of 6.
#4, the place could use an instruction manual with information on heat, the fireplace, maybe operation of the AV equipment (we weren’t interested in even turning it on, though)
#5, the road is mostly a dirt track. The eastern approach, ~3/4 mile, entirely so. The western approach is a better gravel road until the last 1/2 mile or so, where it deteriorates to dirt track status. My party had no trouble in our SUVs, but you ought to be aware if you are coming in a sports car.
On the plus side,
* the kitchen was very well equipped
* the dining table and chairs were nice enough and that area was well lit
* the plumbing seemed to be in good order and the water was good.
* the king bed was comfortable (and I heard no complaints about the others)
* Wi-Fi worked well. Slower than at my home — I wouldn’t want to work over it — but good enough for vacation uses. (people were annoyed at the high quality password, though)
In future, my group might look for something a little more polished, but we wouldn’t rule out a return to Drooly Bear,

The cabin is tucked away in a beautiful part of the mountains and is accessible to lots of hikes and trails. The place is spacious and cozy! Make sure you’re comfortable with managing a wood stove as the primary heat in cold temperatures and plan for groceries as it’s a bit of a journey to stores. We had a great time and would definitely stay there again!

Great for everyone that came, we all love being outdoors and away from other people. Some went fishing out on the lake and some stayed back to just hang out at the cabin and played cornhole and cooked food. Everyone loved it

Wonderful property, lots of parking for vehicles and boat trailer. Great location, easy access to Lake Raystown and Trough Creek S. P. This was our second year staying at Drooly Bear. Will be back next year. Just do it!

Always beautiful cabin and spacious. In 2020, some minor updates were needed, like a duct taped screen door and stained/burn holes in carpeting. This year unfortunately, same things could use attention as well as the sewage smells. It is a very relaxing scene though and we hope to visit again soon.

The property owner is great to work with! The porch and scenery is great, we sat on the front for in the morning for hours just taking it in! You can only see one other cabin near you. The only complaints we had was some of the beds are really uncomfortable and you can feel the springs in the bed, and the living room carpet has a bunch of stains. But that didn’t stop us from having a great time and I would come back again!

My friends and I stayed in this cabin since it was close to the alllegrippis trail system. There was plenty of space for all of us, we never felt cramped and since it was about 30 minutes or less from the trail head we could spend more time riding and less time worry about traveling to get there.

This is the perfect space for our annual weekend cabin getaway. Denise and her husband do a wonderful job taking care of the cabin and Matt makes checkin/checkout easy and provides helpful information. We celebrated 2 January birthdays, played Scrabble and Risk, worked on crosswords, did a lot of cooking, watched some of the play-offs, and went on a great hike in Trough Creek State park down the road followed by a nap! We had some warm sunny afternoons for being outside and the wood stove worked great, keeping us warm through the night and into the morning. At one point I heard one of the teens say "let's settle this with a game of checkers". There were many games of checkers in the loft.

The cabin was perfect for our long weekend get away. We loved the big living room and how cozy the woodstove kept us. It was very close to the state park which was just what we wanted. We also enjoyed the big covered porch. Would definitely come back!

My husband and I rented this cabin for a weekend away with our nephews to spend some quality time. It was perfect! The place was clean, and remote, yet easy to find. The boys loved sleeping in the loft area and exploring outside.

This rustic cabin was amazing! I hope to make it the place we stay when we are visiting the area. The cabin had was charming and rustic with plenty of space! It had the peaceful, wooded feel that we were looking for.. My extended family and my family came together to reconnect for a weekend, and this cabin was a perfect place to make these memories! We hope to stay here again!

Matt was an awesome host and more than willing to help with any questions!
The property was amazing! There was a play set for the kids and a fire ring to enjoy at night. We took our 24 ft pontoon. It was tight to get it into the driveway but plenty of parking once in the entrance. We will be back!

Drooly bear is a cabin in a forest setting. nice private area. easy access on a gravel road. we took a 19 ft boat so it was a little tight to turn around. the cabin was clean and comfortable. the kitchen was well equipped to cook meals with. we used our towels on the boat, so if you need to wash boat towels, you may want to bring laundry detergent to clean your towels. we enjoyed staying there and would definately go back. thanks
