About this apartment rental
Please note: November 2-5, 2024 and April 4-7, 2025 only the upstairs apartment will be available. Max 4 guests those 3 nights on two twin beds and fold-out sofa. Another guest has already booked the downstairs bedroom.
Our sparkling new addition includes two entirely separate and private spaces connected by a set of stairs and sharing a common foyer.
Downstairs: Accessed directly from the mudroom, a large queen bedroom with armoire, full mirror, full bath, mini-fridge, microwave and electric teapot for boiling water. Keyless entry is via personal code.
Upstairs: living room, twin bedroom, fold-out queen couch, full kitchen, washer/dryer, dishwasher, 1.5 baths.
The apartment is attached to our house. We built it in 2021 for Pauline's parents, so it includes all the comforts of home, including individual A/C and heating units, high-speed internet, and skylights with remotely controlled shades. Ceilings are high and there is lots of natural light.
The mudroom/ entrance is a shared space and our access to our washer dryer in the basement.
We do whatever it takes to keep this welcoming, spacious apartment well-maintained and sparkling clean. We’ve decorated and equipped it as if for our own use, with hi-speed WI-FI, mini-split A/C and heat, plenty of kitchen tools, fluffy towels and crisp sheets. There is a Pak'n'Play crib and a high chair available if you need one; there's a children's playground about 100 yards down the street.
Jamaica Plain is a hip neighborhood of Boston. All its charming shops, cafés, pubs and diverse restaurants are within easy walking distance of the house; nearby too there are bakeries, a brewery, a library, running and bike paths, parks, Jamaica Pond (actually a 68-acre lake), and Harvard University’s Arboretum, a 280-acre natural preserve and botanical research center in the heart of the city.
You’ll feel perfectly comfortable and at home as you head out from this quiet oasis to explore one of the world’s most interesting cities!
A car is not necessary to enjoy all the great city of Boston has to offer, but if you drive there is free, off-street parking for two cars.
The Green Street stop on the Orange Line of Boston's subway system (we call it the 'T') is just a block away. And bus line #39, a 6-minute walk up the street, will take you to the Longwood Medical area, the Museum of Fine Arts, Copley Square, the Boston Public Garden and Faneuil Hall.
Or you can rent a city bicycle either on Center Street or at the “T” station and ride all the way to Back Bay along the Southwest Corridor biking path and jogging park.

Friends and I stayed at Woody and Pauline’s house for a weekend in Boston to see a concert at Fenway. The house was lovely, communication with Woody was wonderful, and the location was perfect to see all different parts of Boston!

The home is spacious, had everything you need for a nice family stay. Minutes away from the T stop so very easy to access public transport. Off street parking makes for an easy stay.

This is a fantastic property! It is steps away from easy to take public transportation that will take you any where in Boston. The neighborhood is charming and has nice restaurants and parks nearby. This property is very welcoming, comfortable and very clean. It has all the amenities - hair dryer, iron, washer/dryer, stove, and a very nice coffee pot. The beds are comfortable and the living area is relaxing. Nice to have a bedroom and a bath and half upstairs and a full bedroom/bath downstairs. The owners were extremely helpful. They were welcoming but also private and unintrusive. This property is connected to a house, but it feels very private. I highly recommend this propery and will stay there again, if I get the opportunity to return to Boston.

Property was amazing! Comfortable and centrally located. Myself and 15 yr old explored Boston while Mom (76) stayed in the neighborhood and loved the shops and cafes. Woody is a great host making sure all our needs were met.

We couldn’t have been happier with this property. We took an Uber in to the city while we were able to park the car we had driven off street at the house during our stay. The house is a charming mix of old (as it is beautifully furnished with some antique pieces) and new (as it is well outfitted with modern conveniences). Woody was friendly and available for questions throughout our stay. I would definitely recommend this VRBO.

Great house for the weekend. Very clean, extra linens, towels, and blankets. Would highly recommend and will be using again in the future.

simultaneously practical and beautiful
nice large house, generously equipped, beautifully but unpretentiously furnished and decorated - a block from the T and 15-20 minutes from downtown Boston (depending where you're headed), and a half-dozen or more restaurants within a 7 minute walk. Just perfect.

Great house in an excellent location
We had a wonderful 4 night stay at the Jamaica Plain house. The house itself is beautiful, as pictured, and in a very nice neighborhood with many amenities nearby. The orange line T stop is super close which makes this house a really great location for visitors who want to utilize public transportation. Woody was very accommodating and easy to communicate with via email.
My only comments that might be helpful to future travelers are really unrelated to the property:
- The orange line downtown stations are closed during weekends for construction this fall. This adds time to travel but can be worked around by getting off at Back Bay and walking a couple blocks to the Green Line at Copley station (and these entries are free during these closures). Luckily we saw this bulletin before our trip and it wasn't a big impact!
- There are numerous great restaurants near the house (many included on the very useful list provided by Woody) but be aware that many are cash only. We found this to be common in Boston and is almost unheard of here in Houston. Again, it wasn't a big issue but nice to prepare for.
I would highly recommend this property to anyone visiting Boston!

Boston getaway
Beautiful home with very unique antiques yet up to date kitchen and bathrooms made it very comfortable! Close to the subway, and local restaurants are within walking distance. Neighbors are friendly. Steep stairs to bedrooms on second level. Due to the many antiques, we would suggest adults only.

Beautiful, clean house
Beautiful, clean and spacious house in Jamaica Plain. 5 minute walk to the convenient T line which gives easy access to downtown Boston. Owner was very responsive. House was as advertised. Loved having 2.5 bathrooms for four people. This was the perfect house for a girls’ get away. I would highly recommend this property.! Thank you Woody and Pauline.

Brilliant stay in lovely Jamaica Plain
The property was extremely comfortable and it was a great base close to the T station at Green Street, so we had great access to all we wanted to see in Boston from North End, Beacon Street, Boston Common, to a Red Sox game in Fenway Park. In Jamaica Plain, we had great breakfasts in Evergreen and a lovely dinner in Vee Bee. Loved it all. Woody was a great responsive straightforward host.

Charming home to make for an enjoyable stay
This home was perfect for our long weekend in Boston. Having somewhere to stay that is comfortable for my in-laws is a priority when finding a home. The decor was perfect as well as all the amenities to meet our needs. We enjoyed the neighborhood feel of Jamaica Plain with its nearby pond to it’s restaurants. Thank you for making our stay in Boston so pleasant.

Wonderful house, great location
What a great place to stay. The house has great character and is in a great location on the orange T line to explore Boston, yet in a nice quiet suburb.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and the communication with the hosts was excellent! Thanks Again!

Great house in JP - easy access to public transportation
We (6 adults) stayed at this wonderful house the weekend of the 123rd Boston Marathon! Could not have picked a better location at our price point as the neighborhood, Jamaica Plain (JP for us locals) was eclectic and fun yet safe! We were within walking distance to Sam Adams, Turtle Swap Brewing and Doyle's bar. Most importantly the Orange T line was just down the street and got us to anywhere we needed to be.
The house is super clean and beautiful with high ceilings and updated kitchen and baths! Wonderful towels and all home items you could possibly need in terms of dishes, soaps, paper products and even blow dryers!
Tons of parking if you bring a vehicle though one was not needed with how close we were to the Orange line - even took this to the airport both ways!
We would stay here again in a heartbeat!

A comfortable house for a family
Our family of 5 enjoyed spending a week in this beautiful and spacious house. We especially appreciated the 2 separate sitting areas, the 3 bedrooms and 2 full baths, the washer and dryer, the in-tune piano for practicing, the off-street parking for the days we had a rental car and also the close proximity of the subway for the days we went downtown.

House was charming, beautifully furnished and comfortable. We walked all around neighborhood and took the Orange Line T into town. Will definitely stay here on our next visit. Thanks to Pauline and Woody for their hospitality.

Visited Boston for three nights in September. Couples weekend getaway for sisters 50th birthday. Wanted to spend the weekend in a house together vs. hotel. This location exceeded our expectations. The house is amazingly furnished, clean behind belief and most of all comfortable and welcoming. The hosts were great at communicating. The location is one block from the subway, which will get you anywhere you want to go. Couldn't be more pleased with our stay.

This house was everything you could ask for and more. Modern comfort (cannot beat central AC in the summer!) with unique furnishings. Lovely, comfortable, and impeccably clean. The beds were very comfortable, the showers/bath were really spacious with good fixtures. We were very happy to have the driveway for parking our over-sized rental car in the city. Restaurants (and great ice cream!) were walking distance. The Arnold Arboretum and a lovely pond are also very close by. Franklin Park Zoo is about a 10-minute drive, our kids (4 & 7) had a great time there. The location was ideal for us - so close to downtown and also for visiting relatives and friends south of Boston. The owners, Woody and Pauline, were extremely responsive and helpful, and generally lovely people to deal with. We would really love to come back here the next time we come to Boston!!

This home was a highlight for our trip. Having a parking space for the car - three bedrooms for five of us - great cable system - updated kitchen - bathrooms and elegant decor was more than we expected. SO MUCH BETTER than a Hotel. PLUS only appprox. 5 miles from downtown Boston - with the Orange 'T' a blocked away AND for those baseball fans -Fenway park is 3 miles away. I recommend this place to anyone

The house is perfectly situated blocks from the Orange line to Boston. Taking public transit is a great option to driving around and paying for parking in the city (we paid $42 for 2 hours at one of the lots!). Enjoyed the Immigration exhibit at the Prudential Center which also afforded us a 365° view of the city. Also did the Duck Boat tour (our laid back purple bearded guru guide was hilarious), Harvard Natural History Museum (amazing collection), Boston Museum of Art (barely saw a fraction of the place) and saw the spectacular Fourth of July fireworks show from the MIT side of the Charles River.
In Jamaica Plain, we walked a couple blocks to get a late night ice cream fix at JP Licks, drove over to Centre Street and had Cuban food at Old Havana (ropa vieja!) and Dominican-style empanadas at Pikalo (gigantic!).
The house is well-furnished with spacious areas and a lot of interesting collectibles, including a longbow resting in a corner. We enjoyed cooking in the well-stocked kitchen and playing board games until all hours of the morning at the dining room table.
Overall, our family had a wonderful experience and recommend your house to anyone staying in the Boston area.
