Northern Comfort is overlooking Caribou Lake in the lovely area of Lutsen, Minnesota. Located on a private drive, the home is situated on over 2 acres of wooded land. The 3,000 sq. ft. home is completely furnished with high end décor and incorporates a blend of modern yet rustic charm.

The home sleeps up to 10 adults comfortably, and is comprised of 3 bedrooms + a loft with a futon, 2 ½ bathrooms, an open main living area, a spacious modern kitchen, 2 wood-burning fireplaces, a rec room, and a den. The exterior of the home consists of two outdoor living areas including a covered porch accessible from the main level dining area and a large open deck with a nearby fire pit that is located just off of the lower level.

The home is in a prime location being only a short drive from Lake Superior and Lutsen Mountains. There are plentiful year-round activities and attractions in the area to please a wide variety of interests including skiing, hiking, canoeing, golfing, snowshoeing, snowmobiling, four-wheeling, sightseeing, or just relaxing in the comfort of the home. There are countless hiking, snowmobiling, and 4-wheeling trails that are accessible from our property.

We had a great weekend stay in early Sept. We cam up for the Fall Superior Trail marathon that me and a friend were running in. The location was very private, but close enough to Lutsen. We loved the house and wish we could have stayed longer to enjoy more of the house and what it had to offer. We did love the wood fireplaces as it did get pretty chilly at night. Very spacious and.clean!

Great location as a base for hiking and visiting several state parks as well as a day in Grand Marais. Many spaces for the 6 of us to spread out and then come together for meals, inside and outside.

The property and location were outstanding! The house was beautifully appointed and situated between Lutsen and Grand Marais- allowing easy access to all of the state parks and attractions we wanted to visit. We hope to return again someday.

Everything we great. Recommend more paper towels and having a few additional essentials present: aluminum foil, zip lock baggies large and small. Otherwise fantastic.

This is our second year staying. The location is great for us being so close to the bike race. Our only complaint this year was the living room rug didn’t appear clean so we vacuumed. I was also concerned amidst check in that our reservation was correct as I didn’t find the check in email that was sent a few days prior. Besides this it was easy to connect with owner during our stay!

Great location and a beautiful large cabin/home. We had our three adult children and their spouses and there was plenty of room. Loved the large dining room table that was big enough for all of us to be around. It was VERY clean!

The Northern Comfort was just as described, if not better! We visited the area for skiing with our 11 and 13 year olds. This property is in a great location, has everything you need to cook a meal, incredibly clean and has a great layout. Highly recommend!

great access to the superior hiking trail day hikes. perfect place to relax in the evening. multiple indoor and outdoor gathering spaces, movie/game spaces, fireplaces. wall to wall windows with plenty of natural light. well stocked kitchen. fireplaces. on a very quiet road. feels like you have the woods to yourself.

Beautiful location. Easy access to highway 61. Close to hiking. The fall color was outstanding - perfect timing! Easy drive to Gondola in Lutsen and Grand Marais.

Great place to stay for us and kids and grandkids. But once we started using it and cooking, we realized that it needs a good overall cleaning and several repairs. Kitchen cabinets (especially lazy Susan’s) full of crumbs, dishwasher wasn’t unloaded and is hard to pull racks in and out and doesn’t get dishes very clean, dead bugs found on kitchen window sills, bath towels are rough and need to be replaced, Teflon Skillets need to be replaced, one side of large toaster doesn’t work, light on microwave doesn’t work and screen door in basement needs to be repaired. Also floor board by couch on main level opposite of one by window, is loose.

Our group of four ‘over-60’ siblings had a lovely 4 night stay at Northern Comfort. The home is spacious and well-equipped. Loved the large expanses of glass, the covered porch and the fire pit areas. We could see a bit of Caribou Lake even though the trees were in full leaf. We liked the location in quiet woods, yet still easy to get to Lutsen and Grand Marais. This would be a good house for an all-ages group too with plenty of room and several sitting areas.

Perfect place to stay for our end of August get away. Our family met another family there and it was a great place with plenty of room for us and the kids. Loved the movies and kids area for them. I thought it was odd we never heard from owner after check in but no issues so that was fine. Dish washer was full and clean upon check in which wasnt ideal. Towels could use an upgrade. Overall great home and area. Would love to stay again sometime.

We really enjoyed our stay at Northern Comfort. The cabin and property were beautiful, and our family group of 9 had an amazing time. We appreciated how well the cabin was outfitted with linens and kitchen necessities. The property was extremely clean and comfortable. Area of possible improvement: put up shades/blinds on all windows (especially in the loft)- it was difficult to utilize this space as a sleeping area for the young kids with the west-facing windows and late sunset/early sunrise.

We stayed in this gorgeous home with our adult kids and their partners. The pictures posted do not even begin to show the beauty of this place! There was more than enough space for 6 adults, and the location is perfect. We hiked on the superior hiking trail (just a half mile down the road), spent time in Grand Marais, and went to many state parks. Thank you Northern Comfort for a lovely stay!

This house was perfect for our group of 10. We had ages 8-68. The pictures and description are very accurate. Well equipped kitchen. It’s located back in the woods, the view of the lake is there but somewhat obscured by the trees. The only thing that could improve this home is if they had another bed, either in the loft or the master bedroom, instead of an air mattress for 2 people. Overall, awesome place. Awesome hosts- very responsive to messages and questions. Would definitely stay here again!

The cabin was great for our large reunion! It accommodated all needs, the Wii and foosball were a hit. Very clean, well stocked. Great layout. We normally stay on lake superior so this was our first time inland. Temps by the big lake were cool (50s/60s). Warmer at the cabin but since we were in the deep woods, so many mosquitos. Not something the owners can control, but was something we didn't expect. We were unable to go outside at the cabin which was ok since the inside was so lovely. Tip - get the entry code before you drive up, no service at the cabin. I had to drive back into town and connect to wifi to get the code.

This home was ideal for a group of 6 adults and 1 teenager. Our teen loved having the lofted area to himself. The primary bedroom was spacious for the grandparents with limited mobility. The two bedrooms downstairs were adequate for the two adult couples but one bedroom only has twin beds. The rest of the house has lots of room for quiet solitude and offered room to be alone when needed. We never felt cramped. The kitchen and dining area were large enough to accommodate all 7 of us. The area around the house was neat and orderly with ample outdoor living space. There are neighbors but we may as well have been the only house in the woods as we rarely saw other cars or people. The location is remote enough for peace and quiet but there is plenty to do for the adventurous types with state parks all around. Grand Marais is close enough for easy access to shopping and tourism as well. We also appreciated that the house was dedicated to rental and we did not feel like we were living in someone's personal residence. We definitely recommend this place and look forward to another visit soon.

This house was perfect for our family vacation. We loved the floor plan and the surrounding woods. I especially loved the master suite and the kitchen. The grandchildren loved the three levels of the house for play. The side porch was a relaxing and peaceful place to listen to the birds. I would not hesitate to book Northern Comfort again.

I rented this cabin for a Lutsen ski trip in March and it was a perfect location. The view was to die for and the cabin was wonderful itself. Lots of space everywhere which fit our large group of 8 very well. Even with the 4 foot snowbanks the driveway still held 4 cars well. The cabin was well heated and seemed to have endless hot water even with us all showering in the evenings. Owners were super responsive and really helpful. I would totally recommend the place to anyone.

We had a wonderful time during our stay at this beautiful home. We were expecting more of my family to come, so had plenty of room for 3 adults and 3 kids. My only complaint would be the queen bed mattress could use some updating…. Otherwise the decor and home is beautiful in such a pretty area. We will definitely plan on staying here in the future should we ski or travel to Lutsen in the future.
