The property owner has stated she will refund our money for this stay. No checkin communication, property was not prepared, no water. We had to move to a hotel. A member of our party refused to stay at the property as it had not been cleaned for our stay. Please process a refund.

The property is in the middle of town, just a walking distance to the plazas, good restaurants and several local attractions. It was very convenient. It is spacious, four bedrooms was plenty sufficient for our family of 5 to relax, watch Netflix movies and YouTube, cook, etc. The owner, Marita, was very responsive to all our needs and questions.

Thanks Colonial House!
Great location right in the middle of town. Good wifi and a good place to work remotely. The rooms were very clean and the manager had good recommendations for food. Can't wait to go back to Cusco and stay at colonial house! Thanks colonial house and staff.

This was a cute house with an antique Bohemian Feel. It feels a bit like a tree house as the top floor and main are separated by slabs of wood.
Maria was overall helpful and nice to communicated with.
Amalia who is the cleaner/care taker was very sweet, but did not show up when she said she would.
We did have some issue.
1. This house has a pest problem. There are thick black spiders in the bedrooms upstairs and streams of ants in the kitchen.
2. The hot water is very poor and inconsistent. There is a plug that needs to go in for the hot water. Even after plugging that in, we had to jump in and out of the shower as the water turns from freezing to boiling every 2 to 4 minutes.
3. The bath stopper in the bathroom is broken.
4. You hear dogs barking and cars honking all night. The street looks tiny, and it looks like it should be quiet, but it seems that the dogs congregate next door because the noise is impossible.
5. The internet was very weak.
6. The house is dark. It’s actually exactly as it looks in the photos.
7. Maria was upset that we had left the house a mess. And it certainly is true, it was left a mess. But in my defense, I knew that we would leave a larger mess than covered in the cleaning fee, so I offered to pay Amalia (who Maria said would come) on my own to clean. She never came.
So overall we had a pleasant stay. I think if they fix those few issues above, and not feel the need to unnecessarily threaten guests, it is the perfect house to rent in Cusco.
Also a note to future renters: they offer plug in heaters in every room. A lot of people complained about the house being cold in previous comments, but we did not have this issue at all.

Highly recommend
Our family stayed in the Colonial House and we loved it. The house was beautiful, clean, and only a few blocks away from the plaza and all of the historic sites, museums, and shopping. There is also a supermarket very close which was convenient. The owner Maria offered us personal attention and helped us with everything we needed. She has a farm out in Sacred Valley and invited us to visit one day for a traditional meal. I highly recommend this home and thank Maria for making our trip a great one.

Great place for a large group in Cusco
My group of 6 travelers loved staying here during our time in Cusco. The place was comfortable, clean, and Marita took the time both when we arrived and throughout our visit to make sure we felt comfortable. She even took the time to recommend sites to see and her favorite restaurants.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in Cusco. The home was, clean and well appointed. We were greeted by the host upon our arrival and they were available to address any needs we had. We were a family of six and had plenty of room. There was one watch out: we were there in July and the night time temperatures were in the low 30s F and the house was NOT HEATED. There was a fireplace, but it provided limited heat through the house.

We loved staying at the Colonial House! It was the perfect location close to the Plaza de las Armas, maybe an 8 minute walk. Marita was very hospitable and helpful. I would definitely recommend staying here with a group of friends or one family.
The house did get a bit cold, so be sure to utilize the fireplace upstairs and all of the extra blankets!

Great Property and Fantastic Host
Colonial House and Marita our host were terrific.
The house was comfortable and very conveniently located to all Cusco attractions.
We would definitely stay here again.

We found the overall property was a little on the dirty side, dirt on the floors, dusty, hole/rip in bed sheets. Door handle broken in one of the bedrooms which one night left us locked in until our friends opened from the outside.
The house was very cold, and the firewood left for us, which we paid for was wet. We asked for more firewood and it was not delivered.
Showers were hot, kitchen was adequate enough and the location was great. Fridge tempreture couldn't be adjusted and froze some of our stuff.

Nice location and lot of rooms
We stayed for a week and enjoyed staying here. We were delayed our arrival but Amalia, the assistant, was waiting for us and welcomed us. The apartment was located near the center and good to walk everywhere. The house was clean and had one room with bathroom and others for sharing bathroom. We were in January and cold. The house does not have heater but has a large fire place in the second floor to keep the house warm but not the bedrooms.

Excellent stay! Clean home, convenient location, safe neighborhood, hot showers
We were very satisfied with this home. The communication with Geoff and his wife Maria before we arrived was very good. They went out of their way to answer our questions. Maria's sister greeted us at the home when we arrived and showed us how to use the home. The linens were all very clean, as was the home. It was a cozy place to spend five nights and we would definitely stay here again. The only downside for the house was that the internet was a bit spotty, especially when using high bandwidth things like video chat. The home is walking distance to a supermarket and bakery. It's also about 10 min from the Plaza de Armas downtown. Thank you so much for this great stay!

Fantastic house, owner and location
The house is great. Well decorated. Very homey. Location is perfect. Awesome market around the corner. The owner is kind and intelligent. She was a huge help in coordinating tours for me and my friend. Highly recommended.

Spacious, quaint, and in a great location hosted by a very personably and communicative host!
The property was as described - quaint, spacious, and in a super location. The open architecture on two floors was nice. Plenty of room for our family - from sleeping quarters, bathrooms, kitchen and seating areas. We visited in winter, so it was a bit cold at night - but we knew that going in and Marita had nice, warm blankets as well as a fireplace stocked with extra wood.
Marita was a great hostess. Excellent communication. Flexible when we needed it. Addressed any questions we had. Proactive with items. Overall, very responsive to our needs.
Location was excellent. Right around the corner from a modern supermarket as well as the local, gigantic indoor/outdoor market (a must see!). Within 4 easy block of them main tourist areas. Cusco is a great town, super nightlife, friendly people. A must see!

Exceptional in Every Way
Colonial House is a lovely and spacious apartment with an ideal location for exploring all that Cusco has to offer. Each room is very private and offers its own charm and personality.
Marita is an amazing hostess -- very warm, welcoming and full of interesting and helpful information. Marita truly makes Colonial House feel like a home away from home.
I highly recommend Colonial House -- you will not be disappointed.

Great Stay!
The house was as described. Great location, easy walk to all the main attractions. The supermarket was 2 blocks away, so it was easy to buy water & other supplies. Very comfortable for six people. Plenty of hot water. The house has lots of stairs. As stated in other reviews there is a fair amount of street noise, so light sleepers may want ear plugs.
Maria was easy to work with to book the reservation. Jose, the local contact, arranged airport transfer for us. All was smooth.

Wonderful apartment in Cusco
My family of five stayed here last summer and we loved our week in Colonial House. Marita was terrific in helping us get situated (transfer from the airport) and had wonderful recommendations for dining and once-in-a-lifetime outings. Because we were meeting with friends, our first week we used the apartment to explore Cusco, it attractions, and the wonderful architectural sites surrounding the city. The kids and we all loved the apartment and its two stylish and comfortable sitting areas, especially the wood burning stove upstairs. A lifesaver in the winter month of July. My husband now loves Peru and we hope to come back soon for more food and hiking and wonderful people.

Spacious, comfortable and in Great Location!
We loved staying 3 blocks from Mercado San Pedro and just a few more from Plaza de Armas. There were just the right amount of bedrooms for our family of 6. On rainy afternoons we hung out upstairs around the fire place and at night snuggled under warm alpaca blankets. Marita came to visit us the last day and we loved learning about all the projects she is working on to conserve local environment and culture while giving visitors an authentic experience. Yoni cooked a fabulous meal for us one evening after a long day of hiking and I recommend taking advantage of this option. We are all hoping to return to visit Marita'so jungle project!

The pros and cons
Stayed here 3 nights July 2015. Three adults.
Pro:
Clean, nicely decorated, modern baths, well equipped kitchen, good WIFI, 3 spacious bedrooms with nice bedding, responsive host, easy walk to anywhere in the historic center.
Con:
(1)We were here in July 2015 (winter) with overnight lows (35 F or 1.5 C). Sitting by the fireplace was nice in the evenings, but the rest of the apartment was cold. Morning showers and breakfast were chilly.
(2)The apartment is on a dirty, very narrow and VERY busy side street. Along with heavy auto traffic, a diesel bus passes every 3-4 minutes through the day. There is less traffic later in the evening.
If the street issues don't bother you, and your visit is during a warmer time of year, I would recommend this place for 3 adults or 3 couples.

Very satisfied
This place in Cusco is a must if you are spending a few days there. Very clean, only a few blocks from the Plaza de Armas, close to shopping, including the mercado San Pedro which is only around the block. THe hosts were very friendly and responsive. I would definitely recommend this place and will be back at some point.
