About this house rental
Please do not inquire if you want to leave your dog unattended for many hours and/or they are not house trained. We know accidents of all kinds happen, but please clean up after yourselves. If we have to clean up biological waste of any kind, a fee of $400 will be taken from your deposit.
We are pet friendly but please use provided vacuums to keep up with pet hair. Excessive pet hair will incur a $200 fee taken from your deposit.
Please disregard VRBO's "Explore the Area" the items and/or drive times are not accurate. Please inquire and we can provide you the answers to how far away False Cape state park is for example an 8 minute drive and Swan beach is a 15 minute drive. We are on Carova beach which is a 1 minute drive.

Rental in a very quiet area of Carova beach with private pool and hot tub.
4WD is a must unless you are a very experienced beach driver and you have a high clearance AWD vehicle, and you must lower your tire pressure to get to the beautiful 4X4 area of Corolla, called Carova, where the wild horses roam free. DO NOT feed the horses, normal horse food and treats like apples have killed them. Stay 50 ft away from the horses.
If you have someone in your party who does not have 4WD and would like to leave their vehicle on the pavement, here is a phone number to help you: 252-619-3633. They also provide a service to bring people from your group to your house on check in and back to the pavement where the car is parked, on check out day.
Twin Shores is owner managed, and we take pride in providing our guests a wonderful vacation at the beach. Features: private pool (end of May-end of September) and hot tub, ocean views, rooftop deck, charcoal grill, gas grill, kayak, hammock.
Twin Shores is a reverse floor plan home so you will enjoy the ocean view from the living area. There is comfortable furniture, a 65" flat-screen TV with surround sound, DVD, Netflix, and extensive movie library. We have an antenna that gets over 20 channels. The sun deck on this level has comfortable deck furniture, built in seating, a gas grill and picnic table. The free-standing gas fireplace is not available. Our updated kitchen has everything you need to cook for your family. (blender, mini food processor, rice cooker, slow cooker, hand mixer, and full size electric griddle, keurig, and automatic drip coffee maker) Steps from the kitchen is the spacious screened in porch where you can enjoy the seven person hot tub! Through the door on the porch, go up the stairs to a large rooftop deck with amazing ocean views and star gazing at night. Twin Shores is dog friendly.
On the middle level are four bedrooms: (all have TVs)
1 King Master (private bath)
2 Queen Master bedrooms(private bath)
1 Queen Bedroom with Semi-private Bath (also opens to hall) and Deck Access
1 Bedroom with Pyramid Bunk with Deck Access, with lots of toys for the kids
There is also a den with a 42 inch flat screen TV, a computer desk, library of books for adults and kids, Nintendo Wii, and has a sofa. The decks on this level are shaded and include a porch swing and other comfortable deck furniture.
On the ground level is the laundry, outdoor shower with hot/cold water and changing area, and the extremely private pool deck area for the whole family to enjoy.
A kayak is provided for exploring the Currituck Sound.
Once you book, you will be required to provide a picture id (driver's license), and to electronically sign a rental agreement.

3) Up to 3 housebroken dogs are allowed during your stay. No breed restrictions, but please don't leave your dog unattended for extended periods if they are not crated. Indicate the number of dogs in your inquiry. Please do not allow them to potty inside the house
4) Baby Items: Folding high chair is in the kitchen pantry closet. Pack n play is in the ocean facing queen bedroom with the iron and ironing board. Twin Shores loves families, but is not childproof. Toys provided are for children 3 and up that no longer put items in their mouths.

Twin Shores has so much - pool, hot tub, grill, hammocks, beach chairs, kayak, lots of games and dvds, multiple porches and hang out zones. Fully equipped kitchen. Great for our multiple family trip with all different aged kids. Super clean. Great instructions from owner on what to bring, best way to access the property. Saw lots of wild horses. Just around the corner from the Carova fire house with a little souvenir shop. So fun to drive the 4x4 beach. Super friendly folks all around. Highly recommend!

When asking my family if they were enjoying this vacation and home, my son replied “I give it a million out of ten” and everyone else agreed.
The home is in a wonderful location that is both secluded yet easily accessible by 4x4. We really enjoyed seeing wildlife each day with deer, a fox, and many wild horses that frequented the area. Driving and parking on the beach was an unforgettable experience.
This home is in fantastic condition compared to many other rentals we’ve encountered, and the kitchen is stocked with anything and everything a family might need to enjoy a week away from the creature comforts of city life.
Absolutely everything about this home and our experience there was top notch and the owner was very helpful and communicative before, during, and after our visit. We are already discussing when we can return again since this has been deemed the “best vacation ever” :)

We had a great stay at this beach home for an extended Labor Day weekend! Very clean, well-equipped kitchen, and a very responsive property owner. It was close to the beach, quiet, and our family absolutely loved all of the porches.

Amazing Stay
This house was everything listed and so much more. It felt like we were staying in a home, not a house. The kitchen was so well equipped, and the furnishings and overall feel let us know someone loves this home, and we loved staying here. Julie was a great communicator and the overall stay was smooth, relaxing and absolutely wonderful. We would definitely stay again.

Home away from home.
First off the owner is very polite and communicates very well with any questions that may be asked. The moment we walked through the door it was very clean. The water was good, for anyone that has been in the area for multiple visits knows some houses can have a dispersant odor. The kitchen is loaded with a ton of nice and convenient items; check the list before packing from home it is probably at the house. The other wonderful part of the house I felt was the screened in room. To relax outside and not have the bugs or frogs all over. My only problem we had as a family was that we couldnt stay longer in the house.

Home Away from Home
We really enjoyed our stay. We were able to get in a bit early and the cleanliness of the house was the first thing I noticed. There’s so much at the house that I could have easily left 2 of my large, storage bins at home. It really feels like a home, not a rental unit. The owner of the house was friendly, helpful and easy to reach. The property is quiet and secluded and we loved the rooftop deck, especially. The layout takes some getting used to, for sure. My only wish is that it was beachfront! My twenty-somethings had no issue walking to and from the beach but it was a bit much for me in the heat with a recovering ankle, so I wasn’t able to escape to the beach by myself at all. However, my brother and his family loved this location more than being beachfront. We love Carova but didn’t see as many horses for some reason. Perhaps because there were so many more people this time. Luckily, the house is down the beach enough that this did not matter. Thank you for a much needed escape to an amazing area! We hope to be back soon!

4×4 beach property
We loved loading the truck up with beach stuff & just driving to the spot u wanted @ beach, which was a 3 minute drive from house. Beats the hell out of dragging a loaded down wagon through zillions of people in the hot sand like we've done @ many other beaches in the past.
The only problem is the house was so comfortable that often we got relaxed & didn't want to leave the multiple deck seating aread or the nice pool & hot tub! Kitchen was also stocked with anything you could think of!
Bottom line is that our families had a great week!

We had a great vacation!
From the start Julie was excellent to work with and very responsive to all of our questions. The house was extremely clean and very comfortable. It was our first time in OBX so we were unsure what to expect but this house has everything you could need. The only part of the experience we did not like was driving on the beach for a long period of time and through the large water puddles on the “road” to the house. Once at the house everything was great and the beach is a block or so over. If you are comfortable with driving off road then I would highly recommend this rental. The house and Julie were both great.

Loved this house and location. Close to the firehouse ( Access to ice and fresh water ) Beach very close and easy walk if needed. Up the beach far enough for it not to be crowded. Would definitely stay again!

Awesome get-a-way
Twin Shores was a pleasure from the booking process, the house and property all the way through check out. Julie was super responsive when questions arose.
Upon arrival the house was easy to access and the amenities were many. The house was very clean and showed no signs that the house was pet friendly.
The pool was relaxing, the hot tub refreshing and the short trek to the beautiful beach a breeze.
One morning I came down the stairs to be face to face with a wild horse in the carport, what an amazing sight. The wild horses are all around the property and offered ample opportunities to take photos.
I would definitely recommend Twin Shores for a family looking for an amazing, relaxing week away from the hustle and bustle.

A beautiful home that you can hide away from the hustle and bustle of life and decompress! Julie is an attentive owner and checks in to make sure everything is going well. House is beautiful and with 3 teenagers was perfect for our family! Highly recommend and can’t wait to go again!

2020 OBX Trip
Really enjoyed staying and using all of the amenities at this property. From the coffee maker to the gas grill to the pool to the large skillet to the kayak to the ... Julie was great and communicated well throughout during the uncertainty with the pandemic. My family and I had a very nice stay and would definitely recommend.

Great family vacation
We had a wonderful week! The house was spotless when we arrived, check-in was incredibly easy, and we were settled-in in no time at all. The kitchen had everything we needed, the pool was pristine (water was a bit cold, though) and the hot-tub got used every day. Location was perfect, we'd be delighted to come back and stay again.

Well stocked and clean house. Has everything you need to enjoy your stay. Nice pool. Short walk to the beach. If you have room in the car, get your groceries, water, TP, tissues, and paper towels before making the several-mile commute up the beach to reach the house.

Incredible house!!
The house was amazing. Had everything little thing that everyone in the family enjoyed. Pool, hot tub, very well stocked kitchen,big spacious house and it was pet friendly! Everyone had plenty of room. A short drive to the beach or just a couple minutes walk. Everything is as listed. Julie was incredibly helpful and easy to work with. We would absolutely book here again.

Love the Privacy
Carova Beach is the place to stay if you want quiet and privacy. Property is as advertised. Don't be afraid of the 4 x 4 beach. Most AWD vehicles can handle it fine with proper tire pressure. If you aren't sure, call A-1 towing ahead of time and ask. We stored one of our cars there for the week at a reasonable cost as well. Wild horses are everywhere. No fancy tour needed. Bring your camera.

Can’t wait to come back!
Our week at Twin Shores was wonderful! The house was clean, beautiful and had everything we needed and more, and Julie was extremely responsive from the planning stages of our trip to the very end. You cannot beat the unique experience Corolla/ Carova Beach has to offer with the 4x4 beach, wild horses and seclusion. We loved it so much and can’t wait to be back at Twin Shores! The 16 hour drive was definitely worth it.

Absolutely amazing
This is a absolutely amazing place to stay , i highly recommend it , but be aware that your tires must be aired down to 17 psi while driving on the beach even in 4 wheel drive we were not.told this before arriving just were told 4 wheel drive was needed and this property is quite the drive down the beach but would still highly recommend this property. Our amazing week at Twin Shores!
My husband, my cousin and I just returned from a wonderful week spent at Twin Shores(July15-July22). I can't say enough about our vacation there. First of all the house was beautiful. The many decks were awesome and we saw some beautiful sunsets from the top deck. The house was extremely clean and welcoming. The kitchen was top notch as far as the appliances, cutlery, glassware, pots and pans etc. The bedrooms and bathrooms were comfortable and clean as were the living room and dining areas. We thoroughly enjoyed the pool, hot tub(ahhh) and screened-in porch. The video library was amazing as well as the books and games that were provided for our entertainment. It was a very short drive to the beach which was a definite plus! The horses greeted us on our first day on the beach(awesome) and visited us at the house as well. We got great pictures of them and their beauty. We didn't have children or pets with us but if you do the house is totally accommodating for both. If you are planning a trip to the Outer Banks of North Carolina and have a 4x4 vehicle, I would highly recommend staying at Twin Shores. The owner Julie is wonderful and answered any questions we had. We love 4x4 beach and now we have a favorite home to stay at when we go. We can't wait to go back next year and I am wishing I was there right now. We all give this house a definite 5 star rating!.
