About this house rental
Our HOME is a beautiful piece of art, designed and owned by Julian Tiglat, only the best materials were used on the construction. Relaxing surroundings invites you to sit and enjoy of a Costa Rica countryside house located close and far from La Fortuna downtown (Just ½ mile – 15 minute walk) in friendly and secure neighborhood.
The majestic house is a lilting combination of straight and curved lines soaring to a high ceiling; the gallery and living area are very large and create a cool open space, while the bedrooms are intimate and cozy. The patio off the family room opens to a very large, private park with birds nesting in the palms where a brook feeds a lovely pond; there is INDOOR POOL in the house and a garage with a work bench and enough room for three cars.
You imagine you are far from civilization in your private paradise with the natural sounds of birds and swaying palms but in reality you are just a kilometer from LA FORTUNA, a charming little town of excellent restaurants, markets, souvenirs and tour agencies at the foot of the active ARENAL VOLCANO. In the other direction, just a ten minute walk, is a large natural swimming pool in the Fortuna river surrounded by jungle, where the locals cool off in the middle of the day; the people of Costa Rica are very friendly, pleasant and happy, who greet strangers with a salutation of HOLA and PURA VIDA.
We will make sure that your experience in Arenal be unique and memorable, we have all kinds of information about activities, must visit places and recommendations to travel around La Fortuna and all over Costa Rica. Please feel free to ask me anything and we will give you an answer as soon as possible.

Everything was as stated and beautiful.

Julians place is absolutely beautiful and was perfect for our family of five. My daughters were delighted to find out they each got their own spacious comfortable bed in their own room! The backyard was pure paradise even in the rainstorm we found it completely delightful and so tropical. Julian is exceptionally easy to get a hold of for all of your needs and recommending bookings of activities in the area. We could not fall in love with this adorable dog that lives next-door who came to visit us nightly. We would recommend to anyone :-)
We also enjoyed our bookings through red lava adventures downtown of Whitewater rafting and a day at the Hot Springs. We enjoyed our tuna very much! Can’t wait to recommend this place to all of our friends :-)

We enjoyed our short stay in La Fortuna. The beds were comfortable and the house is charming with artistic accents. The location was very easy to get into town or to multiple tourist destinations. The rooms all have open ceilings- just something to note if you have people getting up early or staying up late, it is hard not to hear everything across the house. There were lots of birds and an iguana right in the back yard. Julian was very responsive with messages.
We enjoyed dinner at the restaurant within walking distance. One of our favorite things in Costa Rica was the Don Jorge chocolate and coffee tour- less than 15 minute drive.

Had a fun time with family. Arenal volcano was awesome as was the Baldi hot springs.

This is a very unique home, a one-of-a-kind artists original. The tin roof really echoes rain and the open ceiling carries noise and conversations within the house. The location can’t be beat! We loved all the suggestions and took advantage of the proximity of things to do.

This property is the perfect location. Just a few blocks from town and super markets. Felt very safe with Julian and his family on the property. We would stay again and recommend this property to anyone

Just as described. Laundry wasn't working but host offered to do it. Decided to use one of the wash/dry/fold services in town. Very handy. "Mels restaurant is attached and was delicious. The definition of a hole in the wall. Talk to him if you're not cool with "very affectionate" dogs. One is skittish and will nip hard. You may read a review saying "bite" but that wasn't my experience. They are super sweet and friendly, but I'm a dog lover. Overall, we had a great time. Closer to town than I realized, but if you need transportation it's readily available. Reach out to Daniel on WhatsApp. 506 6163 5858. He was terrific.
Only caution, Julian wanted us to turn off the AC when we left. This made the house very hot when we'd return from excurions and it would take all night to cool off. You may want to talk about this. Doesn't seem unusual in CR. Just saying.

Julian was a great host, he was always available and graves the best tips on what to visit and where to get the best deals for local attractions, his home is beautiful a piece of art in fantastic piece of land. Place to park your car, great bathrooms, do highly recommend. We only stayed 2 days but thanks to our host we maximized our stay

We really enjoyed our stay. Location worked great for us. The house was very clean and was a perfect base for our group of 5. We liked our tour with Red Lava which Julian had suggested. Overall an excellent stay!

We really enjoyed this property. There was plenty of room for our family to spread out, and the location was perfect for us. Just a short walk to a rope swing swinging area where many of the locals go. There are a couple restaurants very close or you can walk all the way into town in less than 20 min.
Julian (the owner) lives right next store. He was very helpful and was quick to respond to any requests.

Good communication with Julian. Home was close to all amenities. Yard with Palm Tree's great for Birding.
Thank you Julian

This location was very close to all activities. I did learn to not book tours online, I paid one-third more than other people. Buy from locals. This property was very comfortable. Get reservations to restaurant around the corner. It is very good. Would stay here again. All nessities were in the home. Host is very talkative and nice.

Very interesting property. It was clean and secure. Julian, the host, was available and went out of his way to be helpful. Our host is an amazing artist. He introduced us to Sonia at Redlava tours. She was extremely helpful and booked us for some amazing tours. There were beds for 8, not 12 as listed online. We stayed for tho weeks, 4 people the first week, 5 the second. Host insisted on a $25.00 per day charge the second week because of the 5th person. No bill was presented and it was a cash transaction with no receipt. Was this a reasonable charge in a rental property that was listed for 12 guests, or a scam? Overall, we had a good experience.

This beautiful setting was perfect for our family's stay in La Fortuna. Julian was very communicative and everything was exactly as advertised. It is great to be able to walk into town so easily for restaurants, grocery stores, etc.

Perfect house for our family of 5. 4 bedrooms, 2 baths, good water heat and pressure, smart tv, and a great location. Nice benches on the porch to sit outside with a coffee. We could walk to downtown La Fortuna and to El Salto rope swing. Clear view of Arenal volcano at the end of the street too. Julian was an attentive and friendly host. Very clean with a gated yard though we felt safe everywhere we went in Costa Rica.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Julian's. The home is super spacious, clean, reasonably quiet (set back from the main street), and very unique. Within walking distance to the El Salto rope swing (a big hit with our daughter), also a very doable walk into town. The only notable downside might be the lack of laundry but it wasn't an issue for us. Julian was great to chat with, very helpful with tips to improve our stay. There are two dogs on the property, very friendly. Recommended!

Julian’s property is in a great location, and the house was very clean! Guests should be aware that one bedroom utilizes a curtain instead of a door. The kitchen is clean, small and intended for light cooking. It rained while we were in La Fortuna. The humidity made it difficult for towels and clothing to dry. Julian kindly washed and dried our bath towels upon request. Guests should be comfortable with dogs since Julian’s two dogs are present on the property.
We greatly appreciated his recommendation for hot springs and a company with whom to buy excursion tickets!
It is a clean, unique house in a great location! Guests must be comfortable with dogs, sharing bathrooms, and some noise that travels between the rooms within the house. The positive reviews of other guests are accurate in their descriptions and Julian is very helpful.

An artistic gem, the owner's personal touches are prevalent throughout the house. Very clean and well-maintained. The only exception was the air conditioning - it did not work while we were there. I specifically looked for a house that offered A/C, so it was a very hot few days. Other than that, I recommend this lovely place.

We had a lovely stay here, enjoyed the beautiful grounds and wildlife, fell in love with the dogs (especially Cuyo). Julian was very responsive and helpful whenever we needed anything. The restaurant around the corner was fabulous, we ate there almost every night!

Before the visit, the owner asked us to purchase underwear for him, for which he would reimburse us. Weird, but we ignored it. Upon greeting us, he informed us that the house had been broken into with the last guests (he had over a week to let us know this ahead of time) and suggested we go to dinner in groups. He spent a lot of time showing the safe. The owner has three dogs which have free run of the property. Not a big deal for us as we are dog lovers. Until one of the dogs bit my daughter's hand. During the tour, we spoke with the owner about the dogs and he never said anything negative about any of their personalities. We called VRBO at this point to list our concerns and our discomfort in staying, and they suggested we speak to the owner. My husband tried to speak the owner and we were told he was sleeping. We all felt too uncomfortable staying and secured a different location for our stay. We packed up, returned the key and after explaining what happened, we were told their dogs would never bite. My husband pointed to the dog that did it, and she said "Well that one is old so maybe." They never warned about that dog. His wife threatened to leave us a bad review. We initially agreed to no negative review, until we learned that Julian told VRBO that he offered us a taxi and the nearest pharmacy, none of which ever happened. He is refusing to refund us, we were there less 3 hours. Proceed with caution.

This house was walking distance to town and very close to the Salto rope swing. Several restaurants nearby. Was perfect for our family of 4.

We had a wonderful four night stay in Julian's house. We really enjoyed the eclectic nature of the home, the art and especially the back porch and the wonderful garden. The home was extremely clean, all the beds were comfortable and the air conditioning worked well to keep us all cool during our sleep. The location is central to everything in the area and Julian was an attentive and helpful host. If we ever return to La Fortuna to enjoy the activities this area has to offer, we would certainly stay in this home again with no hesitation. Highly recommended.

Julian’s home is in a perfect location and is perfectly appointed for your stay! There were 5 of us, and we were very comfortable and had plenty of room to enjoy! The yard and patio are a great place to enjoy coffee in the morning!

Our stay was wonderful! We had a group of 9 people with kids ages 4-13. The house is extremely clean and beautifully designed. We had plenty of space and the grounds were gorgeous. We could see the volcano from the front yard and hear howler monkeys in the morning from the backyard. The covered pool was a hit with the kids during rainy afternoons or in the evening (sun sets ~6pm in Costa Rica). Julien and his wife were excellent hosts with great local recommendations for restaurants, activities and grocery stores. Julien was readily available when we had any questions or issues. Would absolutely stay here again. Thank you Julien!!

What a jewel of a place. It was absolutely beautiful inside and out. Beds were so comfortable! The house is in a great location next to many activities for the whole family. The owner is a wonderful man. Very helpful and knowledgeable about the area.

Beautiful property, lots of birds and far enough away from town to be quiet but close enough to walk in for groceries, dinner and activities.

Julian was a wonderful host, easy to communicate with but also we had privacy. The yard is lush and beautiful to sit and look at. About a 10-15 walk to town for everything you need… I liked that we were just outside of town getting more of the Costa Rican style home than a hotel. El Salto rope swing a short walk and Tiquicia restaurant around the corner- delicious! Garcia Julian!

The house was beautiful and clean, and the location was excellent. It was close to town, but you couldn’t hear any traffic from the street. The back of the house was very serene and the yard was beautiful to look at. Communication with the host was great.

We loved our stay at Julian's property. He was a fantastic attentive host. Property had wonderful gardens, location was a bit of a walk from town, but not too bad for our small children. The beds were very comfortable.

Nice clean spacious and secure house. Very close to everything. The pool however was indoors and cold and we had to buy toilet paper. Other than that it was a very nice stay.

Julian’s house was great. Beds were all comfortable and bathrooms were very new and modern. As stated in other reviews walls for bedrooms don’t touch ceiling which reduces privacy. Tons of space and sitting rooms on back patio was lovely although could use some more comfy chairs. Perfect location, restaurant close to house is fantastic, you can walk to Arenal Mundro for great zip lining and El Salto swimming hole. Don’t bother with tour companies just book yourself.
