About this house rental
From one of our guests (Somerset, England):
'We spent a fantastic week in this home. The house itself is excellent in terms of location, setting, decor and equipment with many thoughtful touches that added to the overall quality of our stay. The bedrooms are spacious, the den is excellent for children wanting their own space and the lounge and dining room make for a relaxed setting for a holiday. The house setting is picturesque whilst it is well located in relation to Estes Park...I wholeheartedly commend this home to anyone wishing to visit Colorado.'
The AlpineHaus is situated in the quiet, gated Blue Spruce Village Victorian community that has the Big Thompson River running through it and is ¼ mile outside the Estes Park city limits. The Rocky Mountain National Park Beaver Meadows Visitor Center and Park Headquarters are two miles from our vacation home and it is just a five minute drive to downtown Estes. The AlpineHaus is only ¼ mile from the original early 1900's entrance to the Park and a trailhead that leads to the Bear Lake/Moraine Park area, on the edge of the YMCA of the Rockies Conference and Activity Center.
Built in 2002, our three-level townhome has 2200 square feet of living space. The main level offers a greatroom with a stone fireplace (gas burning) and opens to a large deck with a picnic table and gas grill. Oak wainscoting and large windows adorn the greatroom and separate dining area with a large dining table. The fully-equipped kitchen and dining area have wood floors adding to the warmth and charm of this beautiful home. The main level greatroom also has a LCD TV. Elk, an occasional bear and other wildlife often frequent our neighborhood.
The upper level has three large bedrooms and a loft area with a game/puzzle table. The primary bedroom has a king-size pine log bed and furnishings with a large bay window and jetted whirlpool tub in its private bathroom. The second bedroom also has a pine log queen bed and furnishings, two dormered windows and a private entrance to the second full bath (which also opens to the loft/hall area to share with the third bedroom). The third bedroom has a queen sized bed and a twin sized bed and dormered windows - perfect for a third couple or children. Our property is to the Larimer County Short-Term Rental regulations and our property is allowed a maximum of 8 guests (there are beds for 7 individuals).
The walkout lower level has a recreation room great for kids young and old with a LCD TV, a couple video games (arcade sized - no quarters needed), and patio area.
Walk fifty yards to the Big Thompson River for fly-fishing and relaxation. While our home is not directly on the river, the river runs through our private community and all owners and guests have access to common areas with picnic tables and seating areas.
Our property has high speed WiFi - bring your laptop with wireless card if you need to check in at work occasionally or just want to surf the Net for various events going on in Estes and Rocky Mountain National Park while on vacation. Or perhaps you'll want to check the weather forecast prior to departing for a climb up Long's Peak!
The following are just a few more of the comments from our guest registry:
“It was great to come ‘home’ to this beautiful home each day. We travel the mountains every summer, and this is the best place we have ever stayed at!”
“One of the nicest places we have ever stayed in! You have a lovely home.”
'What a surprise to walk in your beautiful home!! Booking it on the internet was a bit scary but as soon as the door was opened, you could feel the warmth! A gorgeous setting and close to shopping, hiking and sightseeing. Can't wait to come back again!'
“We had a lot of wildlife here with a bear the first morning, deer and a fawn, beautiful birds…”
**Sorry, pets are not allowed and this is a no smoking residence**

Overall pleased with our stay. Very convenient location. Very clean. They do need to trim the bush that is next to the driveway

This was our first VRBO booking and I cannot think of a single thing that could have been better. Prior to booking, Conrad and Kathy were available for any questions I had. We traveled with our 4 kids, 7, 5, 2, 1. Not only did we have a baby bed (pack and play with new sheets) set up upon arrival, but also also a seat for the baby at the table. The kids loved that there were arcade games downstairs as well as a few toys to play with. The house was stocked with all necessities. Location is great and super close to RMNP entrance. Having never booked a VRBO before, I was nervous, but the communication was fantastic. I would definitely stay there again.

We loved our stay in this comfortable, roomy home. You can enjoy the sound of the river from the balcony, or view the stars. The house is perfectly located away from the crowds of downtown Estes Park, but still close to the entrance to RMNP. The house is well-supplied and very clean. Highly recommend it!

This property was by far the best place we have stayed. We go somewhere every summer. This property felt like home and the communication with the owners was fantastic. We had everything we needed. All supplies were provided from shampoo, body wash, towels, to laundry detergent. House was very clean. The pictures did not do the home justice.

The property was perfect for our family (6 adults and two grandkids). The 3 floors was wonderful so that individuals could be together or have their own space. The grandkids loved the toys, and the kitchen table and picnic table on the deck was used for playing card and board games. It was the perfect distance to drive to RMNP (which we did for 4 days) and Estes Park (2 days). Conrad did a great job of communicating to us prior to our visit and during our visit, making sure that we had no questions. When mentioning to him prior to our visit that we were going to use the bedroom with the queen and twin to also have a pack-n-play, he set up the pack-n-play in advance without being asked. I totally would recommend this place for other families to stay.

This property was amazing for our family of seven. The property owners were amazing to work with. Highly recommend this property for your vacation home away from home.

We had a great visit and stay at the Alpine Haus. This was a great location with easy access to downtown Estes and RMNP.
The owners were very easy to work with and responsive to anything we needed. The house was spacious, clean and comfortable. It was well stocked with kitchen equipment, spices, laundry detergent, trash bags, etc.
The beds, pillows and linens were very comfortable and the house was warm during a brief fall snow storm.
My kids also enjoyed playing Ms. Packman and some other board games in the basement.
I would absolutely recommend this rental to others visiting Estes and would stay again on our next visit.

Great spot if you are looking to check out some hikes around Estes and Rocky Mountain National park. 5-10minute drive to park and center of town which has a nice strip with food, bars and shops. This house was super nice! The pictures make it seems like an older house but everything is updated, spacious and clean. We had 8 people stay at the house and had plenty of room. Would definitely stay here again if we come back to visit.

Our family loved this rental. It was clean, comfortable beds, great home to rent. The area is beautiful, and is in a rather private neighborhood. We heard and saw Elk bugling right in the neighbor a number of mornings! Lovely!

The pictures on the website do not do this place justice. The home is beautiful. It was very clean and spacious. Very well stocked with all the necessities. The owners were absolutely awesome. We had just a few questions and they responded immediately. We will definitely stay here again.

Stay 8/26/23-9/3/23
A group of hikers and rock climbers.
Upon our arrival to the Blue Spruce Village, we were happily excited with our first glimpse of the quaint community! The area was perfectly situated beyond the downtown area. We loved that it was on the outskirts of the main town, close enough to explore and shop but not too busy/noisy. The AlpineHaus more than met our expectations! The online pictures don't quite capture the full essence. It's so cozy but super spacious, allowing our group of six plenty of room to prepare for our daily adventures; or relax in the family room to share our stories at the end of the long day; or gather around the kitchen table to share meals together. The kitchen was an absolute ideal set-up. Plenty of space where we could all work on meal preparation and cooking in parallel.
Everyone slept soundly in the large bedrooms with super comfortable beds!
There was even a finished ground floor basement that a few from our group enjoyed playing one of the video games. Quite a treat with all the space and ability to access the parking area just out back.
Having the garage and driveway space was also very nice knowing our vehicles would not be too far away.
Best of all, was connecting with the owner -- learning some of their accomplished endeavors in the area. Reading the published news article in the basement and sharing in that same kind of passion for the mountains. We greatly appreciated the sharing and recommendations and hope to visit again!

Everything was great except we could have used more than 3 kitchen towels and parking was a challenge in a full size truck.

We 5-adults spent 8 days at this lovely townhouse. It was well maintained, clean, and comfortable. We were in town for our son's wedding, so we didn't spend much time IN or around the condo. But when we did, it was exactly what we needed to get through a hectic week of events. Saw large moose and mule deer strolling around the property. Would rent again! The owners communicated effectively and were readily offering assistance throughout our stay.

Beautiful, clean, spacious, convenient. Everything we could have asked for. Very close to Beaver Meadows RMNP entrance. Much nicer and more spacious than the pictures indicate. Very responsive owner. Thank you!

Our second annual writing retreat at this property -- 3 writers who hole up for a week and a bit to focus on our creative work. The house is excellent, the neighborhood quiet, the setting lovely; far enough from town to not be distracting, close enough to town to zip over for food etc. (Country Market is 5 minute drive and has 90% of everything we need.) Short drive to interesting (and beautiful) hiking, as well as close to Rocky Mountain National Park entrance. Internet/bandwidth/etc. excellent; beds comfy; kitchen well-equipped. Owners respond quickly to questions etc. Elk stroll the neighborhood too, of course!

Had a great experience!! The property was PERFECT...exactly as presented in the VRBO listing. It was immaculate, it was comfortable, it was truly a hoe away from home. The family and I had a GREAT time.
The home was in a great location...close to the park entrance as well as to downtown. We had deer come up to the house and Conrad, the owner, was a great host ensuring that we had a perfect and flawless stay...which we did! Thank you, Conrad!!

We had an amazing stay. The place was very clean and spacious. Kids had a blast playing the arcade games after hiking all day in RMNP. This property is only a 5 min drive from the entrance to RMNP which made it very easy to visit the park. The host was extremely welcoming and attentive.

This house was perfect for our estes park vacation. Super clean, plenty of room, and had everything we needed for our stay. The house is actually nicer than the pics show. Beautiful spacious kitchen open to living and dining areas. Conrad and Kathy were very attentive and pleasant to work with. We would definitely stay here again.

Our 6 school age kids and my spouse had an amazing time. The property is located in great proximity to the park. The home has plenty of space to stretch out and find your own quiet spot. Everything was in great condition. Owners take pride in the beauty of RMNP and we'd definitely stay here again.

This home was perfect for our stay in Estes Park. Our family of four enjoyed it thoroughly, right down to the arcade games on the lower level. Very spacious kitchen and living areas made it a terrific home away from home. We look forward to visiting again!

We stayed here for a much-longed-for and long-delayed writing retreat. The house and neighborhood were excellent for what we needed--plenty of elbow room: the master bedroom large enough for one of us to set up her work there; the desk in the upstairs loft perfect for writer #2 (who occasionally overflowed into the living room--big coffee table, comfy sofa, good natural light); writer #3 set up camp on the lower level. Everything was clean, kitchen well-appointed and well-designed; really appreciated the good supply of TP and paper towels; neighbors were friendly; quiet neighborhood, easy to wander about. Wi-fi worked well, good speed, no outages, etc. (important for us!). Good soundproofing, too. Lovely to be near the river. I think we found where the trailhead near the old park entrance is, but it is gated, didn't look like it was accessible by public, but we didn't go to the gate itself to see if it was just a "no motor vehicles" or a "no trespassing"; drove over to Lily Lake for a walk instead. (Everything else about the property was as described.) A major advantage for us is that the house is far enough from town so that we're not distracted (or tempted to goof off) but close enough so that when we needed something (e.g., from grocery-- Country Market is excellent) or just a break and wanted to wander around town a bit, we can. Oh, and bird-watching: lots right there; magpie nesting in the tree beside the big bay window and patio; lots of others (one of our group is an avid birder - she knows all the names, I just know magpie!) -- and elk of course. We're already plotting a strategy for our return ;)

Traveled to CO primarily to assist family who was staying at YMCA Rockies. This home was a perfect base camp/get-away for us. Perfectly located allowing travel roads of RMNP, minutes from downtown restaurants/shops and YMCA. The owners were welcoming and communication spot on. The home is very well taken care of and perfectly supplied - we lacked for nothing. We definitely recommend this home. If you visit, be sure to read the framed newspaper article on bottom floor - interesting story about the homeowner and family.

Since 2009, we've been staying at the Alpinehaus for our family in-state getaways. We can't speak more highly of the home and the gracious hosts, Conrad and Kathy. Their home is so cozy and inviting and situated perfectly near RMNP. I would venture to say, Conrad and Kathy's home is out favorite VRBO experience.
2.5 / 5.0
This house is in an excellent location near the entrance to RMNP and has plenty of room for a mid-large size family. Everything was clean, updated, and contained everything we needed for our vacation. We'd definitely love to stay here again!
2.5 / 5.0
We had a wonderful stay! The most beautiful scenery you could ask for. The house was perfect size for the 7 of us. Conveniently located and had stuff to meet needs of all ages!
2.5 / 5.0
Beautiful house with a perfect location for quick entry to Rocky Mountain National Park and shopping in nearby Estes Park. Our kids really enjoyed the arcade games during some down time between our daily hikes in the national park. From the house, you're 5 minutes to the Beaver Meadows Entrance, about 30 minutes to the Bear Lake area, and 48 minutes to the Alpine Visitor Center. The house really couldn't be located any better. The bedrooms were all spacious and the home provided everything we needed.
The only thing I didn't really understand from the listing was that the house would be so close to the other houses in the neighborhood, or that the access to the Big Thompson River feels like you're in your neighbors' backyard. We generally like to have some outdoor space at our VRBO locations and this house doesn't provide it. But it really is a beautiful house with an excellent location and all the amenities you could want.

The 5 of us had a wonderful time in Estes Park. The house is in a terrific location, close to both downtown Estes Park, the grocery store, and our favorite - Rocky Mountain National Park. Our 6-year-old grandson spent many hours playing in the river, just a 1-minute walk from the house. We stayed a week, and would come back every year!

We absolutely loved everything. The rental was perfect! We vacationed as a family with two sons ages 17 & 19 and they loved it too. The retro video games in the basement were enjoyed as a late night wind down with our boys. My wife and I enjoyed sitting on the deck and listening to the nearby stream. We also decided not to turn on the TV and utilized the board games (teens VS parents) as a way to bond and talk after hiking in RMNP. We would book this rental again if vacationing in the area.

Everything went well making the reservations, would definitely recommend this to family and friends and will enjoy staying there again on our next visit to RMNP.

This home was perfect for our relaxation after each day of hiking in RMNP. We went to three different entrances and all were within 30 minutes of the house. The grocery store was five minutes away. The owners stay connected to make sure you get in and have what you need.

Excellent property and the best communications with a property owner I have ever experienced. We had an awesome time exploring RMNP. Great toys for our 4 year old grandson to enjoy also. Loved the train set. Thanks.

House is very nice. Conrad was very good at communicating and providing information ahead of us getting to the property. We were disappointed that you can’t see the river from the house, and really there isn’t even good access to the river. And, they were painting the house next door our entire stay so we had to deal with painters next door all week. But overall the house was quite nice.
5.0 / 5.0
Plenty of room for our family of 7 (5 kids). Great size kitchen, good downstairs level with place for teenagers to escape for the evening. Easy check in process. Close enough to river to hear in the back ground.
5.0 / 5.0
This was the first time that we've stayed at this house, and we'd love to stay here again. Conrad was very easy to work with. The house is larger than what the pictures show and the family room in the lower level is really a nice bonus for space. The house is very clean with little extras throughout the house....night lights, shampoo/conditioner, Kleenex, etc. It was a treat to hear the river from the balcony. The location is great to get into RMNP and convenient to downtown Estes.
