About this cottage rental
We are a stone throw away from the Historical Discovery Park and Fort Lawton (in the Magnolia neighborhood, west of Queen Anne), where you will find 5 miles of hiking, a Beach and a Beautiful Historical Lighthouse!
Our Above-street location offers privacy enhanced by a gated fence!
This remodeled stand alone, single level 1940's charming cottage is easily accessed by 23 stair steps from the city sidewalk!
You will find yourself in a private landing once inside the gate.
Whereas the front yard offers a bench for your morning coffee, the private backyard is made for quiet moments with nature where you can meditate or do yoga on the deck listening to the birds and wildlife scavenge for food.
Our backyard supports and promote an organic and natural environment for wildlife pollinators!
We ask that you do not feed any wildlife animals from raccoons, to rabbits, squirrels and various birds.
The vintage 2 bedroom cottage with one bathroom has an open floor layout for the living room, dining and kitchen area. Our kitchen has basic cooking supplies you may need for making home meals, coffee, tea and cookies!
It is cozy and Perfect for couples, solo adventurers, writers, business travelers, and families with kids, (our cottage is not childproof).
Our place is well loved and reminiscent of cottages that once surrounded Fort Lawton but now mostly gone. Our cottage only hosts one guest/group at a time and is not shared with anyone during your stay.
Our vintage cottage has character as it has settled through time.
Our neighbors are all year round residents. It's the perfect base for memorable hikes and strolls to the beach and the bluff and 10 mins to downtown Seattle.

We arrived to fresh baked muffins! What a treat! Perfect location for us while visiting our son and family in Magnolia. A cottage-like feel where we relaxed and played cards. Needed a late checkout and Lauren was more than accommodating. Thanks Lauren!

We had a great experience renting from Lauren. The house was perfect for our family of three. There were fresh cut flowers, coffee and comfortable bedding. The back patio was darling and we enjoyed mornings out there with our coffee. the kitchen is fully stocked and there is even a washer and dryer if you need. We will stay here again when we return to Seattle.

accessible and adorable
Great place with walkable access to a grocery store and of course discovery park. I was able to work during the day and head out in the evening while my partner was able to entertain herself during the day due to the location of the house.
Lovely gardens in the back to look at in the back and along the rock wall in the front.

Quiet and comfortable
Lauren is amazingly responsive in both time and attention. She left fresh flowers with fall leaves in every room. The heat can be off all day and within minutes it is toasty. The house is quiet and comfortable. Note the queen bed was too hard for my back, but my husband was fine .

Awesome Stay in Magnolia!
This home was perfect for our family. Check in was seamless and Lauren was a very gracious host who left some personal touches for us upon our arrival. She was also able to accommodate a couple of special requests we had. The location was great as we could walk in the neighborhood and could also walk just a couple of blocks to Metropolitan Market. We forgot a couple of items when we checked out and Lauren contacted me right away to see how she could get them back to me. All in all a great stay and a great host!

Thanksgiving in Magnolia
Great cottage in a great location for our small family Thanksgiving! We found everything we needed for our Thanksgiving dinner, from a roasting pan to special dinnerware to linen napkins! Nice little front and back outdoor sitting options to follow the sun, amazing walks in Discovery Park right around the corner. Our host allowed an early check-in so our young adult kids could do the grocery run before picking us up at the airport - VERY much appreciated!

Quaint and cozy cottage
We loved our stay in this home. It was a comfortable size for our family of three. Bed was cozy, water pressure was strong, and the kitchen had everything we needed. There’s a little patio in the front with a prime view of the sunrise, and a larger deck in the back where our toddler explores the garden and watched the birds. It’s a quiet neighborhood, with some really gorgeous homes to admire around. There’s an amazing market just a quick walk away and a beautiful, huge park right around the corner. The owner was very easy to talk to and a super gracious host that saw to little details to make us feel at home. We would not hesitate to stay here again.

Cozy, well stocked writer's retreat
I needed a well-appointed place to get some work done before a conference and this place was perfect. The fully stocked kitchen made cooking a breeze. There is a great grocery a close walk away. Instructions were super clear, and decor was thoughtful and personable.

Cute cottage in magnoila
The house was just as described in a quiet neighborhood next to discovery park. Lauren came and salted the steps for us when it snowed. The beds were comfy and all info we needed was laid out for us in a binder. It was a great place for us to stay close to family for christmas but also have our own private space. The check out process was easy and great to have a keypad lock to make arrival easy to coordinate. I would stay here again.

Lovely House on Magnolia Hill
We spent 3 nights here in October and enjoyed this house very much! This is a wonderful neighborhood and my husband and I felt at home and comfortable and loved it's private situation on the hill looking over the neighborhood with its beautiful trees and gardens. The fall colors are magical and we enjoyed our coffee on the front porch in the autumn sunshine.
The location is quiet and peaceful, and Metropolitan Market, only 2 blocks away, had everything we needed. When we wanted to get out of the house it was super easy to do so - we enjoyed long walks in Discovery Park through the neighborhood to Ballard Locks, brunch in Ballard, catching the bus to Pike Market for shopping and an excellent dinner.
Bus 24 took us right downtown in less than half an hour and then we took the light rail to International district for dim sum on Sunday. It is super easy to get around Seattle and the house on 36th Avenue West was perfect! What a fun weekend, we even caught a concert, David Grisman at the Triple Door dinner concert venue downtown.
Thanks for sharing!

Great location, convenient location, clean, easy arrival/checkout.
Lauren was so helpful in answering all of my questions and was nice to work with. Much better than a hotel. We felt like locals. Loved the house and Seattle!

Recent stay in Magnolia VRBO
Convenient and confortable. Would have liked to offer the possibility of an overnight visit with us by our grandchildren but didn't do it when I read that we shouldn't without having made previous arrangements I guess. Since the house could have slept 6 I did wonder. Certainly outfitted with anything needed.

Nice place!
We felt the location was the best part about the whole place. It was so close to downtown. We also loved walking in the neighborhood and walking to the water. It was very quiet and relaxing. It was also very clean and amply supplied with dishes and cookware. We would definitely stay there again.

A lovely little home, comfortable and cheery.
Clean and cozy, perfect for a few days of relaxation. Lovely garden around the patio in back. Lauren kept the instructions simple and gracious. The house is close enough to shops, but in a very quiet neighborhood. Discovery Park offers beautiful natural landscape and wildlife just a couple blocks away. Lovely neighborhood of new and old well-kept homes with an interesting mix of architecture, hilly and great for exercise.
