About this apartment rental
One bedroom with queen-sized bed, living room, one small bath with tub and shower. There is a small refrigerator & Keurig; no kitchen. Free wi-fi, but no television. A wi-fi "extender" has resolved the wi-fi problems some commenters have written about. There is a large couch which a toddler or a very young child would be comfortable sleeping on, but it is not a fold-out bed. This unit is above our garage with separate entrance via an outside staircase, please see pictures. If anyone has mobility issues, this is not the place for you! Includes access (up two steps) to a screened in balcony.
We are located in the Town Hill area. BH downtown is a 15-20 minute drive from here, using the charmingly and accurately named "Crooked Road." NE and SW Harbors and Ellsworth, are also each about a 15-minute drive away. It is an easy 10-minute walk to Maine Coast Heritage Trust's "Blue Horizons" Reserve to reach the ocean, and the Blagdon Nature Reserve is a 5-minute drive.

This property is perfect for a solo traveler. It is peaceful and quiet but close to Acadia National Park as well as Bar Harbor. Barbara was such a great host, with all kinds of tips about the area and information about the NP. Sometimes, I navigated only from her directions without using GPS! I even got suggestions prior to going on the trip which really helped in planning!
The apartment has many little extras such as a Keurig and a well-stocked bookshelf. The bed is comfortable and the property is beautiful with fairie lights in the trees welcoming you back if you arrive after dark. I would definitely stay here again.

We stayed here for two nights while visiting Acadia and Bar Harbor. The guest suite was impeccably clean and had everything to make us comfortable. It was a nice place to come back to after long hikes and crowds in town because it was private and peaceful. Very enjoyable!

Clean, quiet, peaceful

The host was easy to reach and gave us heads up on where to book reservations early for special sights( Cadillac Mountain and Abby Aldrich Rockefeller Garden), location was only 15-20 minutes from key sights, accommodation offered good value. Be aware that there are steep steps and a tight bathroom. However, the unit was the perfect place for our timing and budget.

Loved the place! My brother and I were on a bucket list trip to New England and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay in the woods! Very clean and comfortable. Close to Acadia and several good restaurants. Will return again for sure.

Best vacation hideaway! The studio was just what I had hoped! Located in the woods, quiet, yet central to Bar Harbor and Acadia. It was clean and sunny.
Barbara and David are FABULOUS hosts! They respected my privacy, yet were available to answer any questions I had. Their suggestions on restaurants, hikes, and must sees were awesome!
There is no TV, which may be difficult for some. It was a perfect way for me to unplug, relax and catch up on some reading.
Several other reviews mentioned adding a microwave to reheat leftovers. While it would have been helpful, it definitely was not a deal breaker.
There is a Keurig as well as an electric hot water kettle. It was great to be able to enjoy coffee or tea in my down time.
I wish I could give them more stars.
I am so hopeful to return to explore more of Acadias beauty. I will be sure to stay at Barbara and David’s getaway haven!
Thank you for a magical stay!!

It's around 16 min by car from Bar Harbour and ~15 min walking from a trail that goes to a nice beach. The unit was great, and very cozy. We had a parking spot. The hosts were welcoming.

The location is very private, but it is still very close to the location’s attractions. Our host was excellent. Communication was quick and helpful, the property was clean and well stocked, and check-in/check out was simple. The only thing I can think of that would improve the property would be a microwave.

I was very pleased with this vacation rental. The location is great. It is tucked away in the woodlands, but it is only a short drive away from Acadia National Park and Bar Harbor. It is cozy and comfortable, especially after a long day of hiking in the surrounding area. I enjoyed sitting outside and soaking up the late afternoon sun on the outdoor patio. The owners are very friendly and easy to contact. As advertised, there are no cooking amenities, but there are plenty of great eating establishments close by to explore. I highly recommend this place.

Overall the property was very good. Convenient location, good resources to local area. The property is park-like and in the woods. Very private. Responses to issues were prompt.
Imperfections: minor, minor (and we would still go back to this location: small toilet in a small space, the one couch is a pull out bed we didn't use so as a place to recline, not the most comfortable on the planet). BUT AGAIN, we would stay there again!

We loved our stay in this cozy apartment! It was a quiet, beautiful location and very close to Acadia which is why we were visiting. Communication was excellent with the host. The room was clean and comfortable, and we felt well rested. We would stay again and recommend it to anyone!

We loved staying upstairs and bird watching in the backyard of this lovely property. The tip sheet came with us as we explored Acadia and Mount Desert Island and restaurant recommendations were perfect. Eat before arriving if you are going to be after 6:30. My sister did have to go cold turkey without TV or radio. A clock radio would help get current weather as wi-fi was spotty when rainy. We’d love to come back and explore more. Thanks for hosting us.

The unit is very comfortable. The hosts were very good with communication throughout our stay. The check in and check instructions are very clear and simple which we like. The unit is near enough to Bar Harbor and Acadia National Park so it was convenient. Overall, I would say it was really pleasant and we could not be happier.

Barbara and David were a really great host. The unit was super clean and we already had water, coffee, and tea upon arrival. They provided the instructions on tours and were very responsive. The place was quiet and very peaceful.
We really had a nice stay and would recommend their place.
The room for improvement would be including a microwave or a stove and a sink inside the unit to make it more practical to prepare food, etc.

Excellent property in an excellent location. Communication was prompt and accommodating. Upon arrival, there was an abundance of information about the area that helped us explore. Room was comfortable and clean. The only suggestion would be for access to a microwave to heat up leftovers. Would return for a second visit and would definitely recommend for others.

Our family of 3 thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this cozy and welcoming space. Barbara was very attentive and very helpful in letting us know what is going on in the area and things we might want to plan ahead.
Great location as well!
Our daughter loved walking around their property and visiting the tiny troll houses around the woods - she still talks about them!

Centrally located, the opportunity to discover the island was excellent. 15 minutes by car to anywhere on desert island was awesome. We would plan on 3 areas per day during our stay. This turned out very nice. George and Helen.

Barbara and David's place made us feel like we were right at home. It had everything we needed for a comfortable stay including a Keurig with a variety of K-Cups, tea for cold and cozy nights, and a clean and comfortable space space. The hosts left great suggestions for things to do in and outside of the park. They're very responsive to any questions we had during our stay. The outside was just as nice as the inside and made us feel like we were in an enchanted fairy tale. We will certainly be staying here again if back in the area.

This place is located in the woods out of sight of the street in a rural setting. We enjoyed the quiet and privacy. The apartment itself is located on the second floor with a wide stairway. Inside is an open layout with simple yet ample furnishings for one or 2. Nice large selection of books if you like reading.

We had the best experience at Barbara and David’s place. The room locates above the garage and has private entrance as listed. The room is away the street with green view. I loved that.
We loved the small details like the book shelf, free tea/coffee and disposable cup/plate.
Some recommendations on things to do and eat from the host are helpful.
Only 15 mins to Bar Harbor and 30 mins to Acadia National Park.
Recommend Barbara and David's place if visiting Acidia National Park.
