We love Five Pines and have stayed here several times!! The house is perfect for a comfortable stay, with plenty of room for people to relax together but also have spaces away from each other. The lake is a dream, both gazing at it from the screened in porch or from the deck right at the water’s edge. The swimming and boating is amazing. The hosts are wonderful, so easy to communicate with and responsive. Hope to be back again!!

and perfect viewing for the recent solar eclipse!
Debbi and Joe - thank you again for all the helpful tips, places to see and eat. Everything was as described!! Great, cozy little spot, well off the beaten path. Just the way we like it! Look forward to visiting again in the warmer weather and near future to enjoy more of the lake and Five Pines! Thank you!!

The house is in impeccable shape and flows so well! The kitchen was a pleasure to use and there were plenty of staples. Everything, including the fishing and boating gear was neatly stored and accessible. Lovely porch with beautiful views. Debbie and Joe are detail-oriented and considerate hosts!

Five Pines on Rainbow Lake is such an outstanding rental for those willing to drive just a little further north than most people do, in order to be immersed in natural beauty, away from population centers. but without sacrificing benefits of modern living. The beautiful, not too big, not too small house is tastefully decorated, airy and clean, well-designed and constructed, up-to-date, yet appropriate to its setting and in peaceful woods right on the shores of a serene, intimate and intricate, lesser known gem of an Adirondack lake. We appreciated the large well-appointed kitchen, open-concept connection to dining / living room with comfortable new seating, fireplace, and sliding door to a truly excellent screened porch with lake view. The owners provided access to several kayaks, canoes, SUPs, and were very helpful, informative with just the right amount of clear communication. I highly recommend Five Pines!

House and location were exactly as described and everything we had hoped for. A peaceful retreat in a beautiful, very special place. The house was immaculate and very well cared for. Perfect for our two families of 5 and 4. Basement beds were not quite as comfy and basement felt a wee bit damp (nothing a dehumidifier couldn't solve) but great space and really no complaints. Lake is beautiful. Boats (we used them all!l were just great and easy to access. Watched the stars from the dock, had a few fires at the fire pit. The giant screened in porch was amazing and where we all wanted to be whether eating, or reading, or hanging out chatting. It is the star of this already lovely home. Kitchen was top end and had everything we could want for dishes / appliances. Great location too - secluded but easy to get to hikes and bigger lakes/towns for dining out, shopping (go to lake Placid for that!). Joe and Debbi were very attentive and kind. They clearly care about their home and neighbors and want respectful tenants, understandably. They offered great suggestions for things to do ( loved the nearby VIC for hikes and Ampersand was the challenge hike for us with astonishing 360 views!)This is unequivocally 5 stars all around. Will absolutely book again!

Lakefront Paradise
Wow! What an absolutely beautiful, serene and relaxing vacation! The cabin is perfect - we enjoyed the large, open common spaces, like the living room and kitchen layout, and the privacy of the bedroom layout. Our family had lots of places to both gather and to enjoy some peace and quiet (perfect for the three teenagers we had on the trip!). The enclosed porch needs its own section of the review, though - we LOVED it!! We ate all of our meals at the huge dining table, enjoyed doing puzzles and playing games, and ended every evening out there relaxing together before bed. What an amazing space to enjoy the lake views, the loon calls and the serenity - all while staying bug-free! The cabin was also extremely clean and well-furnished.
Outside of the cabin itself, we enjoyed outdoor activities, especially fishing off the dock. We caught so many fish - over 30 total (I'm sure some repeats!) from the dock, and larger fish while kayaking right around the bend (to the left when leaving Boot Bay). We also enjoyed boating every day on the kayaks and paddleboards. While we brought our own lifejackets and rods, the cabin had an ample supply of these.
We also enjoyed a trip to the VIC, hiking at Owl's Head Mountain, the farmers' market in Keene on Sunday, shopping in Lake Placid, Donnelly's, dinner at Raybrook Brewery, and many other fun local experiences.
I would highly recommend a stay at Joe and Debbie's gorgeous cabin on Rainbow Lake!

A magical stay that exceeded our expectations
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Five Pines. The minute we walked in the house we were stunned by the house as well as the view from the porch. The pictures don’t do it justice, the high ceilings on the porch are amazing. The large kitchen and bathrooms felt luxurious. Our party consisted of 9 people, My brother and his family, my family as well as my dad and there was plenty of room for all of us.
We loved playing down by the dock and going out on the lake with the many boats and boards provided. We were thrilled that they added a second paddleboard. We saw and heard the Loons many times and were just as thrilled everytime. The location was close to many things, we were happy we took the suggestion to check out the VIC early in the trip because we went back a few different times for hikes. I looked at MANY listings for our trip before booking this so let me save you the trouble, if you are looking for an Adirondack vacation house book THIS ONE.

A wonderful vacation!
This is a lovely house on a beautiful Adirondack lake. The owners are wonderful to talk with and are very responsive. The views from the screened porch and dock are gorgeous. We loved kayaking, swimming, hiking, and watching the loons. Being so close to the VIC and Donnelly's ice cream is also great. We have stayed in this house in February and August, and we loved it both times.

Another glorious stay at Five Pines!
This was our third stay at Five Pines. We are in love with everything about this place! The house is truly immaculate and super well appointed. We swam and boated all day long, and even spent time on the dock at night stargazing. You can hike a nearby mountains and be back by noon to swim and cool off! We traveled with two teens who loved it as much as the parents. The owners communicate quickly and are so nice to work with. This is a very special place and we know we will be back!

Highly recommend
We’ve rented places in the Adirondacks for years and I’d put Five Pines at the top of the list. The house itself is exactly what our family needed. Two rooms upstairs accommodated four of us, while downstairs a young family with a toddler and newborn stayed. Those of us upstairs couldn’t hear a sound during the night. Each bathroom was perfectly clean and the online photos speak for themselves. The furniture throughout was tasteful and comfortable. The porch overlooking the lake was breathtaking, with its high ceiling. The kitchen was modern and allowed for multiple expletive to prep and cook. The dock got sun all day, and the view down the lake was perfect. The lake is quiet, with plenty of hauntingly beautiful loon calls. We barely knew neighbors were there, and we enjoyed that privacy. The owners could not be better and furnished us with everything we needed. Some owners can be prickly, but these folks were happy when we were happy…and you can’t ask for more than that. *****

R&R Heaven
We had a fabulous week-long get away at Five Pines! Joe and Debbi have created a truly beautiful and peaceful getaway in a lovely lake community. Just close enough to Saranac Lake, hiking and the Paul Smith's VIC to make everything convenient, while still feeling secluded and "away from it all." The porch and lake views are outstanding, the bird calls are soothing and the home is spotless, well appointed and had all the necessary amenities. Joe and Debbi were wonderful hosts, very responsive to questions and with great suggestions for local activities. We hope to visit again soon and maybe introduce some friends to this special place!

Lovely getaway
Joe and Debbi’s home was beautiful and the perfect setting for a getaway. We loved eating meals on the screened porch, sitting on the dock, and taking the kayaks and canoe out on the lake. Debbi and Joe even left us a nice welcome gift which we enjoyed one morning with breakfast.

Winter getaway
Five Pines is a lovely, recently renovated home on a lake. We stayed just after Christmas so had winter conditions. Nearby cross country skiing options were great and we had good luck with the snow. The house is clean and very comfortable if possibly a bit noisy (noise carries between rooms and floors which can impact light sleepers). Kitchen was well outfitted. House design more geared towards warm weather stays but overall it was a great vacation.

Exceptional Vacation
Our stay at Rainbow Lake was fantastic. My whole family agreed that this was the best VRBO home we have ever stayed in. The location was perfect and the house was beautiful and comfortable. We cannot thank Deb and Joe enough for creating such a special place and for sharing it with us. We are already hoping to book again for next summer or possibly this winter!

Wonderful!
We thoroughly enjoyed our vacation at Camp Five Pines on Rainbow Lake! The home was tastefully decorated and well appointed, just recently undergoing a beautiful renovation. The screened in porch was perfect for enjoying the sunrise and family meals with gorgeous lake views. We appreciated having use of the kayaks and canoes for exploring this most serene lake. We took advantage of great walking trails at nearby Paul Smith's College and more challenging hikes of the High Peaks. Also, Lake Placid is just a short drive away with shopping, restaurants and the newly opened Olympic Ski Jump Complex. We rode the new gondola and glass enclosed elevator to the observation deck of the 120 meter ski jump for panoramic views of the Adirondacks. The owners Debbie and Joe were very responsive and informative helping us plan our stay. We hope to be back again!

Our family of 5 had a fantastic getaway at Five pines. This property easily tops our list of places to stay in the Adirondacks. The Location is perfect! Terrific Home and Location
Our family had a wonderful time at your home! The home is spacious, has everything you need, and the back porch is amazing. We enjoyed swimming in the lake, kayaking, paddle boarding, hanging out on the back porch and exploring the area. The home location is so quiet - very few boats on the lake. Joe and Debbi are so kind and very helpful with information about the area.

Beautiful Home in great location
This home had everything we needed for a great vacation. We took advantage of the canoe and kayaks for short trips on the lake. We ate on the screened in porch and did puzzles on the table inside. The bed we used was super-comfortable; so much so, that I will look to replace my mattress at home with one like it. The location was convenient to hiking trails at the Paul Smith's Visitor Center and Bloomingdale Bog. We also found it convenient to visit museums in Blue Mt. Lake and Saranac Lake and the Adirondack Wildlife and Rehabilitation Center in Wilmington.

Wonderful stay at Rainbow Lake
We have rented many houses in the Adirondacks, and I have to say that this is in the top one or two. Rainbow Lake is quiet and peaceful, and the kayaking is fabulous. The view of the lake from the large screen porch is second to none. We enjoyed all our meals (and evening cocktails) on the porch. The house was clean and very comfortable for two couples and could easily accommodate a larger group. The kitchen was well equipped and the bathrooms were very nice. We brought our own kayaks but our friends used the tandem kayak supplied by the home owner. We had no issues whatsoever, and Joe called us on our second day to touch bases and make sure everything was OK. This is a great location, close to Tupper Lake, Saranac Lake, Lake Placid and the high peaks. We hope to return!

Beautiful home and very comfortable stay!
We were here for four days in December while it was below zero out the entire time. We were toasty, warm, and comfortable while inside the entire time. We did a bunch of snowshoeing, but also drove into Lake Placid for one evening, and hung out and played board games by the fire or watched movies. Kitchen is well equipped for cooking great meals. The only thing that could have possibly made it better would have been a dishwasher, but for six people we were fine. Newly re-done downstairs bedrooms are beautiful. We had six in our party and really enjoyed the whole stay.

The property was even better than we had hoped for. The house was well kept and the area was quiet.
The entire week was great. We lucked out with great weather all week. Just a few rain storms but we were able to sit on the covered rear porch and watch the storms come and go quickly. The kayaks and canoes were great. The fishing and hiking was awesome. All 7 of us had a really great time. And so close to Donnelly's ice cream to boot.

"Five Pines" a lakefront Adirondack Home on Rainbow Lake: A great place for a family vacation.
Five Pines
My family and I enjoyed a wonderful week stay at Five Pines a lakefront Adirondack home July 8- 15, 2017. There were six adults and three grandchildren and all had a good time using the different boats as canoes, kayaks, and standup board to explore the beautiful lake area. Wild ducks, and the loons were seen and heard. The grandchildren enjoyed swimming, boating, and hiking as well as did most of the adults. Two of the grandchildren caught many fish from the lake. My favorite place was the large screen-in porch with the beautiful lake view and large dining table for some good family meals. The cabin house was very nice, well equipped and quite comfortable. The owners Debbi and Joe were so helpful and called several times to check on our stay and provided any needed information. I would highly recommend “Five Pines”, if you enjoy nature and like all the wonderful activities that Rainbow Lake can provide.

Fantastic cabin on Rainbow Lake
Five Pines on Rainbow Lake more than lived up to our expectations. A lovely cabin located on a super and uncrowded lake: A few other cabins close by, but it never felt busy (July 16-23, 2016). The cabin is spacious for the eight people we were ; 4 adults, 4 teenagers. The basement has obviously been recently redone and is lovely and cool for those who don't like the heat.
From our point of view, the best thing about the cabin is very large, screened porch (though in fact we had very few mosquitos). The porch runs the whole length of the lake-side of the house and is really an extension of the living room. Great for eating and just hanging out. We also really appreciated the generous supply of canoes/kayaks, which we used a lot, and the place to store bikes.
The surrounding area is stunning ; we very much liked Saranac Lake for its authentic feel, and the walks around Whiteface mountain and up to Ampersand. Thanks to Joe and Debbi for renting us the cabin ; we'd love to come back some day (we live in France so not that close by).

Amazingly relaxing!
Our family cannot say enough positive things about our stay at Five Pines! There were 2 adults and 4 teenagers and there was plenty of room to spare. The house is beautifully decorated in Adirondack style but is very comfortable. The screened porch got a lot of use. Can't beat the view!
Debbi and Joe are super friendly, proud and responsive owners. They gave us so many wonderful tips prior to our stay. Donnely's Ice Cream is fabulous! We had a couple of questions during our stay and they responded in minutes.
Rainbow Lake itself is lovely, peaceful and plenty big enough to explore! The kayaks and paddle board were put to good use. Loved hearing and seeing the loons. The fishing was great and the sunsets were amazing.
Thank you for the opportunity to stay in your gorgeous home!

Perfect!!
I spent countless hours looking for a nice (in all honesty I was looking for perfect) cabin for a family NYE weekend in upstate NY and we are so thankful I found this house. The owners couldn't have been more pleasant to deal with and full of information on things to do or where to go. The house is super clean, well furnished, well stocked, and just has a nice energy about it. The beds, pillows and furniture are comfortable and the bedding and towels are a good quality. The downstairs renovation is really nice and the upstairs has the warmth of the fireplace and the beautiful views of a cabin in the woods on a lake. The bedrooms are smartly laid out for accommodating a group with kids or even couples with singles. We really couldn't have been happier with this house and will be back for sure...it is a lovely winter retreat but we are also interested in seeing it during the summer or fall months! Thank you...we had an amazing time here!

Family Fun
Five Pines was a perfect setting for my family to get together! The newly modeled basement was ideal for teenage cousins to visit while the moms were able to rest and relax upstairs. The house is filled with ADK charm and the huge windows gave us the impression of being outside while being able to sit by the warmth of the fireplace. Ours boys ventured out to ice fish and hit the jackpot just off the island. The girls had fun snowshoeing and making cups of hot chocolate afterwards. The shops of Lake Placid and the ice castle of Saranac Lake made great day trips. We are looking forward to visiting Five Pines again soon!

TRANQUIL GEM
We had such a wonderful time at Five Pines. In desperate need of some rest and relaxation, we found it at this beautifully maintained property. From the moment we stepped into the house, we managed to dial back and relax! During the day we traveled quite a bit including a trip on the ferry across to Vermont. We spent relaxing times during sun-down enjoying the lake, birds & other wildlife, including a massive turtle that would forage near the dock. The kayaks were a plus and made for some fun exploring. We are photography hobbyists and the beauty surrounding the property made for some spectacular shots. A big thank you to the owners for making sure that the house is equipped with everything necessary to make for a most enjoyable week. We hope to visit again!
