Had a great week with the family.

The cottage has been recently renovated, great kitchen easy to find everything. We played cards in the dining room, ate most of our meals on the deck. We loved the lake, lots of floats, kyack, two decks to watch the water and enjoyed the fireplace. The cottage is great for large groups and families of all ages.

I had great communication with the owner who responded to all my emailed
Concerns. As stated, it’s not a 5 star hotel, thus, it met my expectations. Although the stove only had 1 burner, we used the bbq to cook most of our meals. Al in all we emptied the gas tank! Will definitely rent again.

We had as many as 12 during our week. Property is gorgeous and lots of ways to be entertained, both indoors and outdoors. Fire pit fantastic. Beds comfy. A couple of negatives, that have been mentioned in other reviews going back 2 years: stove now down to one weak burner; sliding screen door doesn’t work properly so had to keep main door closed, limiting fresh air in the cottage. A serious cleaning is needed (don’t even look under the couch in the living room). Nathan was so helpful and quickly available. Yes, it’s tricky getting from cars to buildings, but healthy legs have no trouble. It’s definitely rustic, but we loved that - a true cottage experience.

This was our 3rd summer staying here and once again we had great weather and a wonderful time. We were thrilled with the addition of another kayak and a paddleboard. This kept our 5 grandsons (ages 4-11) very busy. We eat all our meals outside at the patio table and bring our own dining fly up to keep out the bugs and/or rain - that gives up a beautiful view of the lake , fresh air and also frees up the dining room table for games and puzzles. Our only complaint/problem each year would be with the stove -really hard to cook for 9 people on the only 2 tiny working burners and the oven seemed to burn a lot of our food. Would reccomend it to others as a great place to stay

Excellent experience renting the property. Nathan was friendly and very responsive to questions about our stay. We also really appreciated the flexibility of checkout on our last day as it allowed us to enjoy the property for a few more hours. Great fishing, tubing, skiing and relaxing. My son, his friends and I had a super time. Thanks Nathan

This review is for the first days coming out of COVID lockdown.
All of the fundamentals of a rental were great. The property had been professionally cleaned; the check-in/out process was smooth; and the host provided excellent and expedient communication.
Pros:
- A lovely semi-private location on the lake, amongst many other nice properties.
- The route to the property is easy to follow.
- Fantastic to plant yourself on the dock and enjoy the scenery.
- Seeing wildlife in the area (birds, fish, otters, deer)
- A nice little sandy beach is a short drive, walk, or kayak away.
- Versatility of having three different buildings is fantastic.
- Nice firepit.
- Pleasant kayaking routes on the lake.
- Beds were comfortable.
- Bugs weren't really an issue until you get up into the wooded area away from the lake. Just keep the doors closed.
Cons:
- Not under the control of the host, but the garbage requirements can be inconvenient, in that you are permitted one free bag and it must not contain recyclables (or else you'll have to sort it when you drop it off at the dump). There isn't anywhere to store garbage inside/protected from animals if using all of the buildings, so you're living with the garbage or keeping in your car.
- There are a lot of the hosts knick knacks, which are okay, but many were precariously placed. We had a couple instances where items spontaneously (no shaking) fell off shelves and nearly missed someone's head or property.
- There's a fair bit of junk laying around the property grounds that could stand to be cleaned up (old appliances, broken furniture) but it doesn't ruin the view if you're looking at the lake.
- The structures could use some basic handyman fixes to address minor inconveniences. Doors are coming apart. Deck rails are popping off. Broken oven burner.
- The deck gaps are wide enough for the dining chairs to fit through, so you can fall through if you aren't precise in your chair placement (suggest an outdoor rug to fix).
- Must be very on top of food management (keep things in sealed containers) and vacuuming (provided) to keep mice away.
Overall, it was a very pleasant getaway to a rustic cottage on the lake. Ideal for groups. Not the best for small children, but manageable with very close attention.

Cottage was as described. Area where the cottage was located as ideal. Everyone really enjoyed their stay. Property owner response time to questions was really quick. Would recommend to others.

Stay was good. One door should be repair and one of the oven burners does not work— has been like that since out visit lasted year. Other than that excellent experience

Thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this lovely cottage. It is a cottage, not a 5 star resort as the owner mentioned. There are a few things that are starting to get worn likely from excessive use (the screen door as example) but I trust the own, Nathan, is on it as communications with him were fantastic. If you are looking for a clean, comfortable, well supplied cottage with rustic charm then this is the place for you. The swimming does not have a sanded area but is clean and clear, plenty of little sunfish and bass for the evening fishing experience with the grandchildren, lots of lawn area and newly refurbished deck space to lounge on as you watch the loon on the lake. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

2 families of 4. We had a great time, the neighbouring cottages are close but they all seemed friendly. There was a hiccup with the wifi but that's not what cottages are for anyways!
The lake was beautiful the kids were in the water for hours everyday. Kayak trips everyday were relaxing.
Thanks again!

The cottage was a lot of fun. We went with 4 people and had so much rooom. The cottage could fit up to 15 people if you wanted. The cottage was clean on arrival. The dock is beautiful with very nice chairs right at the edge. We spent our time sitting there during the sunny hours. We had no power the first night on arrival but the whole lake had an issues with power too. Power was on by the time we were awake and the owner even gave us a refund for not having the power the first night. The water was crystal clear and the lake was beautiful.

We recently stayed at this property and enjoyed every minute! It was as described and even better. We were there with multiple families that included many children of various ages. We all loved it. It is a wonderful cottage with plenty of room. As there are 3 different structures on the site, we were able to be spread out and not feel too confined. It is a cottage as listed, so expect a cottage. We spent our days swimming, fishing, kayaking, and bbqing. The children had space to move around and loved the water which is clear and calm. Nathan was always quick to reply to any questions we had before getting there and very supportive to our inquires. We would definitely recommend this property for a wonderful Canadian summer holiday!

Other than a few hiccups, we really enjoyed ourselves here. Nathan was very responsive when we had issues.
The swimming was excellent. Kids were swimming all the time. The sleeping arrangements worked out well. Had a barbecue dinner every night that topped it off.
Would book here again in a heartbeat!

We had an amazing time at this cottage! It was a beautiful weekend! We had a great time enjoyed the separate living spaces, the campfire, the paddleboat and kayaks. The dock overlooking the lake made for a great star lookout! Renters were super helpful with the information provided. We also really enjoyed the seclusion of this cottage. Would definitely recommend to anyone!

The good,
We had a fantastic stay! The water is clear and fresh, we caught huge bass right off the dock! The kids had so much water fun, and at night we relaxed around the fire pit. The view is beautiful, we saw many loons playing and fishing in the water. And heard moose playing in the water late one night. It was a great time with the family. The bunkie and boat house were so nice, updated, and quite comfortable. And Debbie at Crystal Lake Marina is wonderful, she knows what towns to go to for your needs and the best fishing spots.
We spent most of our time outside and despite our gruntles we had a great family week
The bad, and the ugly
First and foremost was the "goat trail" to get to the cottage, this was a narrow dirt/gravel/mulch path that was extremely steep. Had this "hill" been explained to me we would not have rented this cottage. My husband, myself, our 2 kids, my 400lb brother in law and my 75 year old mother in law were occupying the cottage for a week. This was told to the owners and not once mentioned to us how steep, uneven, dangerous and ruggid this hill was. Even the rock path along the bunkie was steep and dangerous as the rocks are covered in algae making it very slippery. After conquering the hill and my husband and I carrying down all of our belongings and groceries we were tired.
The main cottage is very dark inside, and not very fresh. It is very VERY small with little room to put stuff, clothes, toiletries, even groceries. The cottage is overly cluttered with the owners "stuff" it was near impossible to even unload groceries we had to keep them in boxes in the dinning room. We couldn't utilize the dinning room anyway because there isn't enough room around the table to pull out a chair? There was so much stuff, nic-nacs, decorative things on every wall shelf and in cupboards things were falling or just in the way.
The morning after our arrival we woke up to NO POWER. There is zero cell reception there and the power was out we couldn't even call to the owners. So we headed to the marina where we were told that this is a weekly scheduled shut down every Sunday from 8am to noon. It would have been nice to know prior to our arrival.
Not that I expect much when cottaging, but the shower is ridiculous, conveniently placed facing the neighbors BIG huge bay windows and the water sprayed everywhere except on you, that is until my husband duct tape it.
Unfortunately we will not be staying here again due to all the obstacles

This cottage is absolutely amazing. The cottage has a villa style where there are 3 separate buildings. The Bunkie, the main and the boathouse. The Bunkie is one of the coolest buildings there because it has a clean atmosphere with sleepover vibes. The main cottage is where my group stayed the majority of the time (at night + rainy days). The boathouse is where I stayed and it is majestic. You would be able to wake up in the morning and embrace the quiet lake on the porch or just have friends on the porch to talk and enjoy the time.
The cottage itself is placed over a beautiful lake with two great docks. One ideal for tanning and the other ideal to jump off. At night time, you can go on the dock and stare at the stars and milky way. You have the option of the fire place where they had more than enough seats to fit everyone.
Nathan and Lynne delivered beyond gracious customer service. Nathan would reply within hours of an email. I would ask him teeny tiny questions and he would have the patience of answering everything with short and concise answers. We had a an issue with the garbage and Nathan would be able to answer the phone and help us with everything. Overall, Nathan is a perfect host and his home is beautiful.
As earlier stated, there was a garbage issue. The people taking the garbage are EXTREMELY STRICT. Nathan mentioned it in the manual before but I didn’t think it would be that extreme. There is a trash guide that was laid on the table of the dining room. Follow that THOROUGHLY.
If they give too much of a problem, there is a dump site about 30 minutes away that will charge 5$.
All in all, this trip was too short. It was perfect in every way and I would love to visit this cottage again.

We had 10 of us rent this place for May long weekend and no one had any complaints! The lake was beautiful and we caught a lot of fish right off the dock! The beds were actually very comfy and we liked that there was 3 different housing areas incase anyone wanted to sleep earlier or anything.. The fire pit got tons of use and there was more than enough chairs for everyone. The walk way down to the cottage is a little steep but it didn't bother us considering once you are there we didn't leave.. The marina was only a 5 min boat ride so we brought our fishing boat but we also got a lot of use out of all the games and outdoor things they had at the cottage for us to use! It was really clean when we arrived so we wanted to leave it just as we found it. We got to meet the neighbors and they were very nice as well! All in all it was an amazing weekend for the 5 couples and we had so much fun! I certainly recommend this place
