We were dropping off our son at Mount Allison and the Tidnish Pearl was an ideal base for exploring parts of New Brunswick, PEI and Nova Scotia. The house itself was well suited for our family with 3 bedrooms, well equipped kitchen, multiple areas to relax inside, WiFi, and a nice deck of the back to enjoy eating outside. Would definitely stay again.

This home is spacious and had everything we needed. The owner is very easy to communicate with and accommodating. Perfect place for a vacation.

We spent a week at the Tidnish Pearl this August, and it was truly lovely. The house is cozy, well equipped and tucked away in a quiet corner of Nova Scotia. So nice to come home to after busy days adventuring in NS, NB and across the bridge to PEI. An easy day trip to Charlottetown or Cavendish, quick drive to Amherst, Sackville or Cap-Pelé.
The house is lovely and quirky, as a 19th c. home would be, and more than comfortable with room to spread out for our family of 4. The front porch was perfect for morning coffee, the kids saw a meteor shower while sitting around the campfire, and we could keep up with the Olympics on the small TV in the family room. Both bathrooms were clean and functional, laundry and dishwasher all work well. The kitchen has all the utensils and tools you could want! Air conditioning in the kitchen and main bedroom only, but wasn’t needed during our week (evenings cooled down nicely and it’s so quiet it’s easy to leave windows open at night for a breeze!)
The 2nd and 3rd bedrooms are connected - you have to walk through the Queen bedroom to get to the twin bedroom - which was no problem for our family, but might be a consideration if friends or mixed families are sharing the house.
Cell service was unreliable. Internet/wifi is available, but did seem to be affected on cloudy/rainy days. The large dining room table was perfect for art and games on those days!
We had a great stay and would recommend for small families looking for a quite getaway!

What a great house! A wonderful mix of quaint old house with modern amenities. Check-in process was uncomplicated, and communication with the host was outstanding. A very helpful binder of information was on site. Location was lovely - close to so many sights. Would definitely recommend this property.

This house welcomes you in a centrally located yet very peaceful setting. Tastefully done to make you feel right away as if it wasn’t your first time there. The epitome of a vacation home!

The pictures don’t do the house justice! It’s a beautiful 1800’s home with character, spacious inside and out. Lots of lawn space to play. All the amenities to make it comfortable. The breeze, the birds and friendly passers by made it homey. The personalized welcome basket was a very nice touch, fresh flowers from the yard greeted us and Piercy came to make sure everything was suitable and to care for the trash. Norma was extremely accommodating. We couldn’t have asked for a better week at The Pearl.

The Tidnish Pearl lives up to it’s name, it is a real gem!
Norma & Rick were amazingly reliable and generous hosts, promptly replying to all my questions and concerns. Upon arrival at The Pearl, we were treated to a welcome tray of bottles of wine, complimentary certificates to check out the local winery and ice cream parlour, homemade loaves of bread
and jam. All were delicious!! Our little ones also received personalized gifts which were perfect for the beach and the cottage.
The house is just so darn cute and homey, with plenty of room for family and friends. Each uniquely decorated room is a delight for the senses. The well stocked kitchen will remind you of your Grandma’s and take you back to the good ole days.
The Tidnish Pearl is centrally located and is only a 20 minute drive to Amherst, a little further to the quaint town of Pugwash, with several beautiful beaches, for exploring low tide, in between. Be sure to check out the Winegarden Estate winery and distillery, which is just around the corner and up the road. If you want to learn a thing or two about art, we also recommend visiting the Blue Heron Gallery located in Lornville, which is also a short drive.
We were thoroughly delighted with the Tidnish Pearl and were so sad to leave. This little cottage perfectly represents Nova Scotia and is as inviting and welcome as the people who inhabit this province and the East Coast.

My family and I headed out East from Ontario so my 84 year old father could experience the east coast for the first time. The Tidnish Pearl was the perfect place to stay, right in the centre of PEI and NB. We were greeted with a lovely welcome note, yummy treats and

The house was beautiful and spacious, and was equipped with everything we needed, plus lovely touches like fresh bread & jam and wine tasting coupons! Norma, Maxine, and Piercy were great hosts and super responsive. The house is in a serene neighborhood with a huge lawn, and having breakfast on the back porch was idyllic. :) This was a great home base for us to explore the area. We recommend Island Hill Farm on PEI (we got to hold baby bunnies!), the Winegarden Estate right near the house, the Hopewell Rocks, and afternoon tea at Jassy Boutique in Moncton!

This property is very well maintained. The home is equipped with everything you could possibly need. It is very spacious and Norma ensures that you arrive to the warmest welcome with fresh baked bread homemade jam and a bottle of wine. Located near many historical sights, a beach with seals, a winery that were so welcoming an art gallery and an amazing restaurant called the Blue Cat.

We very much enjoyed our stay at the Tidnish Pearl. The home is beautiful, location serene, and the people are friendly and welcoming. Norma and Rick were great hosts and left goodies for us and the kids which we throughly enjoyed during our stay. We highly recommend checking out Winegarten Estates (and their summer concert series) which is located nearby. We are looking forward to our next vacation at the Tidnish Pearl.

We enjoyed our stay in this lovely heritage home. As other reviewers have written, Norma could write a book on hosting!. There was nothing we lacked in our stay. The extra special touches waiting for us when we arrived (fresh baked bread and homemade jam and a bottle of wine for us and gifts our teens) and Piercy, the local handyman, who checked in with us to make sure we were comfortable made our stay more memorable. The home was more space than we needed as a family of four and we enjoyed the antiques that decorate the home. It was a lovely stay to cap off our trip to Nova Scotia!

There was 7 of us, we had lots of room. A large yard for outdoor games and very close to both the river and the gulf. The owner and caretaker were friendly and accommodating.

The Pearl is a beautiful old home with many rooms and space for a large group. Three bedrooms, (one is attached to another) bathrooms, good wifi, great space for kids and dogs outside. Everything you need is provided….beach towels, beach toys, outdoor games, fire pit with wood, descent bikes and trails close by, a fully loaded kitchen including tons of spices, baggies, foil and plastic wrap, soaps, and every kitchen tool needed!
Norma thoughtfully treated us to to a amazing tray with wines, homemade breads, butter, jam and complimentary passes to Winegarden Estates, 10 minutes away. It is such an amazing wine tasting experience, we highly recommend it. Piercy, the handyman is so friendly and thoughtful. He came by everyday to see if we needed anything and always dropped off something from his garden or oantry. 😋 Maxine is close by if anything needs attention in the house.
The Northport beach, 20 minutes away has gorgeous red sand lots of tide pools and the warmest water! The Birkinshaw Tea house in Amherst is a fun experience.
We loved our stay at The Tidnish Pearl!

Beauty abounds
We spent 24 glorious days in Tidnish, barring the occasional trip to Halifax.
Everything was as expected with a couple of small exceptions. It took a few days and a couple conversations with people to figure out exactly how to get to the suspension bridge trail which was unfortunately very overgrown.
As well the third bedroom or room with twin beds is only accessible through the queen bedroom, not a big deal for a family but if you have mixed families it may take a bit of negotiating :).
The pictures are 100% representative of the house, we cooked lobster with friends and had a meal fit for a king in the dining room, everything we needed was there. We luxuriated in the front room after dinners and I loved reading my book curled up on the chaise lounge where the sun shone in most mornings. The second living room/TV room was perfect for catching up with the world in the morning , we had difficulty with calls until I found the perfect reception in the twin bedroom. There is also a landline if needed.
We were welcomed with fresh bread and jam, wine and even treats for our dog. We took advantage of the wine tasting at the Winegarten in near by NB and it was spectacular!
We drove the quick 5 minutes up the road to the Tidnish Docks park most days and it was a little slice of heaven.
The true beauty of the place was in the people we met. Piercy the care taker is an absolute gem, Maxine was so kind and happy to pitch in if anything was needed. The local folks are some of the best people I have ever met. In a nutshell GO ! Norma makes sure everything and anything you need is available. On that note the house was equipped with so much more than I would have guessed available; beach towels, outdoor games, dog bowls if needed, umbrellas....everything!

The Pearl!! :)
Amazing house - we loved all the character of the home and how much space there was for our family.
The kitchen was stocked with everything you could ever want - and then some!! We even got jam, butter, bread, and wine! Also my three year old was given a welcome treat! He loved it! So thoughtful!
Communication with Norma and Piercy was quick and easy!
We had a challenging time outside - time of the year when the mosquitos were pretty bad - but even outside was stocked! My son loved riding the small bike and helmet in the garage!! They were a perfect fit!
Even though the house is not “child proofed” - I would certainly recommend the Pearl for families! We look forward to coming back!

Great stay at The Tidnish Pearl
Spacious for a group of five. Lots of lovely, welcoming touches i.e. bread, wine, gift vouchers for local vineyard, bouquets of roses.
Quite a well stocked kitchen in terms of cookware, dishes, spices etc.
Great location for doing day trips to places like Bay of Fundy, Northumberland Strait, PEI, some good local hikes too!

The Tidnish Pearl was a wonderful spot to stay. We were a group of 8 and we never felt too cramped. The kitchen had ever amenity you could need for food prep.
When we arrived, we were greeted with fresh bread, jam, and local wine. The garage had bikes, and we were so close to so many beaches and trails. This place was great. Would recommend.

Five Wonderful Months at the Tidnish Pearl
For the first five months of 2020, due to unforeseen personal circumstances, I had the opportunity to stay at the Tidnish Pearl. It was the most comforting, delightful and satisfying of times. The Pearl is a real gem with all the conveniences of home and then some. Staying at the Pearl was a lovely experience. The owners were most helpful in making my stay a stress free and relaxing time. Located in one of Nova Scotia's nicest vacation areas, and in proximity to NB, PEI and other key destination points, the Pearl is a beautiful vacation or anytime place to come home to!

Country relaxation at its best
Our host Norma was wonderful down to the smallest detail. We arrived to a loaf of fresh baked bread homemade jam and generous fruit platter. Gorgeous roses on the dining table. Fireplace and outdoor fire pit stocked with wood for the delightful cool nights. Milky Way also supplied. The country kitchen had everything a chef could desire to prepare feasts of all sizes. Feather pillows, crisp linens, comfortable beds meant a good nights sleep and off we went on our 4 to 6 mile hikes on trails throughout the area.
5 star dining nearby at Le Chat Bleu, 15 minutes from Amherst for essentials. A wonderful vacation for replenishing the spirit. 9 days were not enough.
Thankyou Norma

Beautiful guest house
Norma and her staff Maxine and Percy were amazing. We arrived to a sparkling clean and well presented home that was Pride and Prejudice worthy. (I could imagine Mr Darcy striding into the parlour) A loaf of fresh baked bread, homemade jam, butter, cream and milk in the fridge awaited us, as well as a bottle of wine and 3 complimentary cheese plates at a nearby winery.
The rooms were all beautiful and accomadated our group of 7 quite nicely.
The location was wonderful for a visit to PEI and other places.
We would not hesitate to recommend this lovely home to anyone visiting the area.

Above and beyond any expectation we had!
Our family made the journey to Tidnish to visit family and friends for 11 days. We could not have asked for a better cottage rental. It was clean, big enough for all 3 of generations of our family and had everything that we needed during our stay. Norma was very easy to contact before and during our stay. All of the little touches such gifts for the children, fresh bread, jam and wine for the adults were the cherry on top. We will definitely be keeping this place in mind for future visits and will be recommending it to all of our family and friends. Thank you Norma and others for helping us to create such amazing memories that will be cherished for years.
