Our second time in this lovely spot. We felt completely at home and could relax and be near family but have some space too. Our hosts thought of everything to make us comfortable. We could meet the grandkids at Knowlton Park and the bookstore. And the lobster rolls at Dorr's are indeed the best!

Had a great time. Very nice house. Always enjoy visiting Maine. Great, central location. Very quiet and peaceful.

Great country house. Clean and spacious, with a lot of cool art on the walls.

Because Maine was experiencing extreme heat, Denise contacted me to ask if it would be okay to switch houses to one with air conditioning. The the house was very nice. We'd stay there again.

Great location to travel around to see different places and shops, including Bar Harbor, Acadia National Park, Rockland Lighthouse and Quoddy Lighthouse.

Everything was great! But highly recommend this property. Thanks for everything.

This place was a great fit for my family of 5. There was plenty of room, and the host provided many extras you don't often find in a vacation rental. It was a good base for exploring Acadia and Bar Harbor, and Ellsworth has a nice little downtown of its own. There is a great lobster market right across the street. The house includes a big binder with restaurant recommendations and a long list of suggestions for things to do in the area. Denise responded to my questions quickly and was very helpful. We would definitely stay here again.

This was the best vacation rental I've ever had: a perfect fit for this quiet couple in their 70s. Our hosts had thought of everything in a well-supplied kitchen and bathrooms, roomy, comfy bedrooms, and charming living room and study space. Close to Ellsworth shops and restaurants and our family in Blue Hill, the locations was perfect too. We would love to return!

The house was very nice and clean. The location was convenient and gave us options to visit some places we hadn't visited on other vacations when we've stayed in the island. We were happy with our stay.
Two things to be aware of when renting this house: the owner doesn't want outside shoes worn in the house so pack a pair of house shoes/slippers, and be prepared for the sound of engin brakes from the trucks that use the road this house sits on.

Loved the VRBO!! Great location to the many things we wanted to do up and down the coast of Maine.
I would recommend this home and if we ever return to Maine I will rent it again!!

This VRBO property is one of the nicest, cleanest and well equipped property that I’ve stayed in. Convenient to Bar Harbor and all surrounding, off the grid harbors. Beds were supper comfortable, and plenty of room for personal space. Very Nice Place!!

This was our 2nd stay in this rental. We were just as happy with it this time as we were on our 1st visit. Denise is lovely - a pleasure to work with. We hope to return in the future.

Loved this stay. Our hostess provided everything in this home. From lobster pots for cooking to baking sheets for cookies. We were all comfortable in our beds and the baths were fully equipped with shampoo, soap and towels. It was an amazing and beautiful home. I will always remember this trip.

This is a super clean home with comfortable memory foam beds. Everything was very organized and lots of little amenities that are not typically provided. Really enjoyed the fresh eggs we found left for us in the fridge and the maple syrup. I had difficulty locating a few items initially and Denise was very quick to address and resolve.
We arrived on a very hot day- 90 degrees- and the window air conditioners in the living room and bedrooms combined with a set up of fans to circulate cooled air into kitchen worked well to achieve comfortable temps. We also closed the curtains in the kitchen on hot sunny days and this helped a lot. Who knew the hot 90 degree weather would follow us from Ohio to Maine :)
The Office room was a nice plus- again, lots of little unexpected touches- such as several tablets with writing paper, pens, pencils, scissors and tons of places to charge devices.
Also, we really enjoyed the bike / walking path that starts next to the properties and even walked down to the LLBean Outlet one evening by combining the path with a few neighborhood streets.

Property was impeccably clean, comfortable and organized. The kitchen was well stocked with any/all necessary cooking supplies (including essentials for a lobster feast). The history of this home was apparent in the adorable wide plank hardwood floors, the original front door, and original banister. Large grocery stores, restaurants, pizzerias, and fast food chains were just a few minutes down the road if needed (but far enough away for this location to feel secluded and off the beaten path). All bedrooms and the main sitting area had a/c window units which kept the entire house cool during an extremely hot week in Maine (temps in the 90s). The host provided many thoughtful touches like q-tips, bandaids, shampoo/conditioner, and Tylenol in the bathroom. We were also greeted with pancake mix, maple syrup, and farm fresh eggs upon arrival. Bed linens were great quality and extremely clean. It was apparent that the host puts great care into the cleanliness and details of her property. We would highly recommend Dorr's seafood (literally minutes away) for delicious clam chowder and live lobsters. The home is an easy 30 minute drive to Bar Harbor and Acadia National Park, and about 20 minutes to Lamoine Beach and the pristine Branch Lake. Check in was easy and the host was readily available via text if any issues/questions arose. Overall, we were thrilled with our stay at this beautiful home and can not wait to come back!

This was the best property we have rented in 12 years!
We thoroughly enjoyed every moment of our stay in this beautiful Ellsworth home. We loved the home’s distance from Acadia and Schoodic Point. We went to at least one of these places each day. We enjoyed most days with a hike in the morning, a picnic lunch, and a swim in the afternoon!
We also enjoyed an evening stroll through downtown Ellsworth, multiple trips to Morton’s Moo, and a few hours in the shops in Bar Harbor.
The binder with house instructions was so clear. We loved its recommendations for what do, as it was our first time in the area. It was the most thorough one we’ve encountered, and we appreciated it so very much! The restaurant recommendations were spot on and also offered a description beyond the title to help one make a decision.
Denise was an attentive host who provided homemade maple syrup, fresh eggs, and pancake mix! She also promptly replied to any questions we had vía text.
The Branch Lake and Schoodic Point were some of our favorite places ever. Of course we also loved Acadia’s Ocean path(by Sand Beach), sand beach, the Jordan Pond trail and so much more!
Doubt doubt it, book it! We’ll return as soon as possible!

Great location for our day trips along the coast from Acadia National Park up to Lubec and Campobello Island (be sure to bring your passport for Campobello).
The house was very clean and the tv system is a wonderful evening activity.
The host is always available to answer any last minute questions you may have when getting settled in.
No problems whatso ever!

Thoughtful, well-organized host
This house was spotless! Beds and pillows were more comfortable than usually encountered in rentals. The kitchen has decent quality items, including sharp knives, all carefully organized.
The location is convenient for travel around the region and for buying lobster and other fish from Dorr's Seafood.

Sister trip to Maine
My sisters and I take these reunion trips about every two years. We have stayed in a number of vrbo properties in the US and have always had good experience but Denise's property went above and beyond with all her wonderful surprises. Never have we rented where many extras where provided; coffee, creamer, eggs, butter, shampoo, conditioner, body wash to just name a few. When we had any problems all we had to do was text Denise and it was taken care of immediately, no matter what time. I would recommend any of Denise's properties for any one visiting the area. We spent most of our time in Bar Harbor, which was just a short drive away and much cheaper than staying in Bar Harbor.

Lovely house In Ellsworth
Our family enjoyed this roomy 3 bedroom 2 bath house. Check in was easy, the owner is communicative and easy to reach through the VRBO app. The house was very clean and nicely furnished, including the kitchen and bath supplies. We found generously provided food items in the refrigerator, including coffee, milk, eggs and bread, that saved us a trip to the supermarket during vacation. We really enjoyed our stay!

Great place
Older house, but very well equiped. They provide many things for you, including a beautifully prepared welcome package.
Very freindly owners and maintenance man.
Not a bad drive to Acadia park and surrounding area.

You won't be disappointed!
I needed a place to stay for a family wedding in Bar Harbor and a reception in Surry, and a house seemed like the perfect fit. But how do you choose? You scour the VRBO listings and hope you find something that lives up to the hype. Look no further because you found it! Denise's property lived up to the hype and then some! We couldn't have asked for a better place to stay. If you wanted something (or needed something), it was there in the house. We're still trying to figure out how Denise did it! The attention to detail was noticed everywhere....the communication before we arrived; the goodies left for us when we arrived; the detailed binder in the house to answer any question you might have about the property; don't miss the lobster rolls at Dorr's; I could go on and on, but I'll spare you. Suffice it to say, we can't say enough good things about 37 North Street! Thanks for sharing your property with us, Denise! I'd like to think we'll be back someday...

Perfect Ellsworth Rental
We had a wonderful stay in Ellsworth. This property could not have been better. Spotlessly clean, and every amenity one could possibly need or want. When we arrived we found complimentary blueberry pie, a loaf of bread, homemade maple syrup and in the refrigerator a half gallon each of milk & orange juice as well as eggs, butter, coffee creamers. No need to rush out to the store - breakfast for the next morning was there. So very thoughtful. Thank you Denise.

Ellsworth and Acadia
Excellent. House was clean and well organized. Well stocked as well. The information book about the house and activities in the area was very helpful. Having Dorn's Lobster Pot was great - they will cook lobster for you. Denise quickly responded to our questions.
House easily accomodated 3 couples. We would stay here again. Very convenient to Acadia NP and other attractions in the area.

Has everything you need and more
A very pleasant home and very well equipped. We had everything we needed and more. There were all the necessities in the kitchen and some food items were already stocked - bread, muffins, eggs, milk, juice, butter. In the bathrooms there were an abundance of towels and washcloths as well as shampoo, body wash, cotton balls and Q-tips. There was even a new bottle of Ibuprofen in the medicine cabinet, which we ended up needing. Denise is very friendly and accommodating. The only small drawback - it is a well maintained older home, but a few of the floor boards and a couple of the stairs to the second floor give a little when stepped on. Overall a wonderful experience! Thank you, Denise!

Rental Managed Right
6 nights stay in September 2018.
In short, it was so refreshing to stay in Denise's property.
Every detail well prepared and thought out.
Little things made the difference, you could tell it was more about
hospitality than money.
Great value for the price point.
Thank you Denise,

Great Great Great
This home has a lovely surprise upon entering through the kitchen. Denise left us all kinds of goodies (blueberry pie, bread, milk, eggs ETC) so heading to the home before heading to the market is no problem. All rooms are warm and inviting, and the two beds my sister and I used were VERY comfortable. All paper products were provided, as well as shampoo, conditioner & shower gel! I have never stayed in such a well-stocked rental property, VRBO owners should follow Denise's example! It is great having the washer/dryer in the house, too. Laundry detergent is there, too! Ellsworth is about halfway between Bar Harbor & Bangor. Bar Harbor's Lulu Lobster Boat is a must, really intimate (max 35 people), hands-on literally with the lobsters. The Escape Room in Bangor was quite a hoot as well! Sadly, I don't recommend the Stephen King Tour in Bangor. It was 3 hours with about 2 of those being commentary from our driver who has known Stephen for decades. In Ellsworth we ate at the Union River Lobster Pot which was yummy. We also hit the Primavera Italian Restaurant twice; it was so good the first night, we returned a couple days later for Roast Duck (not a special, it's on the menu!) This home deserves all of the 5 stars we are giving it! Thanks, Denise!

Excellent value for a WHOLE HOUSE!!!
We couldn't find a motel room for under $ 200/night and here was an ENTIRE excellent clean, extremely well decorated house with a full kitchen, stocked with paper goods, condiments, barbeque stuff, clean linens, liquid dish soap, detergent , etc., etc. .It is a restored old Maine house. There are three bedrooms, but the family room also has a futon that is very comfortable. There are a full size washer and dryer, a full size stove and oven, a microwave, a regular size coffee maker (not the dinky things in motel rooms), coffee in the fridge, some food was even there for my food sensitivities I mentioned when renting. There was a full size bottle of shampoo and conditioner in the bathroom, six sets of towels, extra paper towel rolls in the closet, It was just amazing. There is a furnace, and two window a/c units plus four standing fans that move the cold air around, (Maine does not need much a/c). All the furniture is in excellent or new condition. The only detraction in the kitchen would be a lack of dishwasher. But a brand new dish drainer and a new bottle of dish liquid was provided. There was a great metal super sized whistling tea kettle and a metal trivet for it. All the pots and pans looked new and were very clean. All the dishes matched and were new, as was the silverware. The master bed had twice as many pillows as needed. Brand new hangers were in the closet. There was a notebook in the TV room ( with TV, DVD's, games) describing the house, the owners, and the area. The house is one lot off of Route 1A and it takes 40 some minutes to reach ACADIA NATIONAL PARK. Bar Harbor is an utter zoo in August. We could not even find a parking space in Bar Harbor any of the three days we were in the area. Staying in Ellsworth, with tons of parking space, right around the corner from Renys and the LLBean outlet is a MUCH quieter choice. And it is so dark there, you step outside and see the MILKY WAY. I saw a Perseid meteor there, sitting on the porch. I recommend this house!

THE PERFECT HEADQUARTERS FOR VISITING BAR HERBOR AND ACADIA
We were looking for a base camp for our visit to Maine. Somewhere close to everything and yet out of the "Hurley Burley" of tourism. Ellsworth was perfect as was our cottage.
We were close to all the attractions but centered in the quaint town: We went swimming in one of the local lakes, attended a music concert on the river in down town Ellsworth and sampled the delights of the ice cream parlor just off Main Street!
The house was perfect 3 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, tons of living space and an excellently equipped kitchen. There was nothing that we wanted while cooking that wasn't available!
The real treat and total surprise was walking into the house to be greeted by blueberry pie, bread, butter, eggs and milk; a nice touch when you come in off a road trip and discover that you don't even have to go to the store.
Thank you so much for your amazing hospitality and your wonderful cottage!

A perfect "home base" for our 10-day visit to the area!
Three friends and I planned a trip to Maine to visit, and do some hiking, in and around Acadia. We wanted a clean, comfortable, convenient, and affordable place to stay. This home was the perfect choice. We arrived to find it clean, welcoming, and generously stocked with items for breakfast the following morning, along with some other thoughtful pantry items. We were pleasantly surprised during our stay to find things like a coffee grinder, salad spinner, lobster pot, cutting board, wine bottle opener, etc, so that preparing and eating some of our meals at "home" was enjoyable, too. The house was roomy enough with three bedrooms and two bathrooms for four of us to be quite comfortable. We brought an inflatable air mattress and used the sitting/desk area on the 1st floor as a fourth bedroom so that we each had our own space. Having two bathrooms, also thoughtfully supplied with plenty of towels, tp, hampers and even a hair dryer, was great for four women trying to get out early each morning. The washer and dryer (plus laundry detergent) were especially helpful to have during our long stay. Even though the home isn't on MDI, we didn't mind the short drive to the park or Bar Harbor since the location made it convenient to get to the other areas of Maine we wanted to visit. We made day trips to Blue Hill/Deer Isle/Stonington and the Schoodic Peninsula, and an overnight to Fundy National Park during our stay. There are restaurants, grocery stores, wine and coffee shops, and even a Walmart nearby for anything you might want. Wendy texted us the day we arrived to make sure we had everything we needed, and we were happy to get to meet her during our stay to thank her for all of the thought that she and Denise have put in to making this home such a comfortable place for their guests.

Thank you to Denise and her property manager, Wendy for such a generous welcome "basket" of breakfast goodies! Your house provided us with a great location for visiting Acadia National Park, and the area surrounding Ellsworth.

Visit to Acadia
My sister and I had a great time visiting the Acadia National Park over 4 days. The house was a convenient place to stay and very comfortable. We loved the memory foam mattresses and art work in every room. So different than the run-of-the mill stuff you normally find in a rental. The welcome basket and supplies (even eggs!) found upon arrival were a real plus, too, as we arrived late at night. I'd recommend the house to anyone visiting the area.

Ellsworth Stay
We enjoyed our stay overall. The only reason I gave 4 stars instead of 5 is because prior to our arrival, the inside of the house was sprayed with an excessive amount of air freshener, and so we nearly had to step outside for a bit when we first walked in the door because it was hard to breathe. Wasn't a great first impression, but the smell eventually went away.

Cute house with convenient access
This was a cute house just on the outskirts of "downtown" Ellsworth. It was very convenient to where we wanted to go. The home also has trails running through the woods in the back, which my son loved. We also enjoyed the goodies left in our fridge, which came in handy :) We had a great vacation and would recommend this property to families or couples.

Clean, cozy, and convenient!
We stayed at this house during our family vacation to Acadia. It was only 25 minutes from the park and located in charming Ellsworth. It was nice and clean and much more affordable than rentals in Bar Harbor. The owner was a great, prompt communicator and was happy to answer all questions. We loved the surprise we received on arrival - bread and blueberry muffins on the table and milk, coffee, orange juice, and fresh eggs in the fridge! Great house, owner, and location! Highly recommend!
