The good: The property is nice and in a quiet neighborhood and the property matched the description in the listing. The bad: 1) We were in Rochester for about a month for an organ transplant at Mayo Clinic. At the end of the stay, we informed the host we had left the property but my sister would be by the next day to pickup food we had left behind. When my sister arrived the next day, the home was locked. I contacted the hosts, and to our surprise, the home had been cleaned and re-rented! We still had it reserved for another 4 nights! I contacted the host and VRBO support and the host credited us for the food that was lost. However, the host violated VRBO policy by double booking through another site, and neither VRBO nor the host did anything to credit our nights of double booking. When pressed, they supposedly found other accommodations for the new guests, and that we could have it that afternoon. However, they would not provide proof that the home had been cleaned, and expected us to re-occupy it. I will not stay at any of this host’s properties again given this troubling behavior. 2) When we arrived, there were 4 wasp nests, one of them massive (about the size of a soccer ball). Two were above the garage door and two were above the front entrance. We had elderly guests with us who are allergic, so this presented a safety hazard. It took >24 hrs and multiple messages to the host to get these removed. 3) Upon arrival, the home was missing some basic items such as cutting boards, spatulas, and coffee cups. We bought JetDry and re-wash the glasses as they were hazy due to being washed without. To the host’s credit, they did drop off all the items we informed them were missing, but for a home marketed as “luxury” and “executive” I would not have expected to provide shopping lists for the hosts to get the property properly stocked. 4) One evening a smoke detector began beeping due to a low battery. We contacted the host that evening, but they couldn’t come until the next day so we had to attempt to sleep through the night with a smoke detector beeping. The next day they came by to replace the battery, and left batteries so we could change them if any more began beeping. Again, we were in town for organ transplant. We had lifting restrictions, and were in no position to be maintaining a VRBO home. The hosts should be replacing these batteries on a yearly basis so guests don’t have to deal with it whatsoever.

We were in Rochester for the months of November and December for a family member going through treatment at Mayo. This house was perfect for the patient and the multiple care givers required to support the process. There was ample space for those who needed to work and for the patient when he needed some downtime. When we arrived, the exercise equipment was not located in the basement, as shown in the pictures. But, one note to our hosts and new equipment was delivered and installed. This was our experience with any questions we had during our stay. They were very quick to respond and extremely helpful. We would not hesitate to stay there again, should we need to return to Rochester!

We needed a place to stay in Rochester while our house was undergoing repairs for a week. This spacious rental home was perfect for our needs as a family--big kitchen with an open concept dining and living area, exercise equipment in the lower level, and multiple bedrooms for quiet distance learning kids. The house was immaculate upon check in and everything was in perfect shape. The residential neighborhood was on a quiet cul-de-sac. Would definitely stay here again if needed and would recommend if we have out of town guests.

My husband and his brother had kidney transplant/donor surgery at the Mayo Clinic, and this house was the perfect place for them (and their caretaker/wives) to recover! A very easy and convenient drive to the Clinic, only minutes away from many restaurant options, and plenty of places that will deliver food or groceries if that’s what you need. There was lots of space, the neighborhood was lovely, the kitchen was extremely well stocked for those who choose to cook, the beds were very comfortable, the WiFi was reliable and fast, the Roku television set-up was great, the fireplace was attractive and gave off lots of heat, and the attached garage was priceless during December in Rochester. The only slight negative for us was the absence of the treadmill that was advertised in the VRBO listing, and which I confirmed would be available in an email exchange with the property manager prior to renting the property. The weather turned out to be nice enough for a little bit of outside walking, but it would have been safer and better if the promised treadmill had been there. Overall, a great place to stay while in Rochester!
