We spent a few days at the rental in mid August and loved it! The nice decor in every room gave it a homey feel, very cozy. We enjoyed our morning breakfasts out on the secluded patio surrounded by a high fence. This rental sits back a bit off the street giving it a very private feel. The air made our hot days very comfortable. We had everything we needed for kitchen and bath. Everything very clean and beds and furniture comfortable. Quiet all day and night and just a short walk to the beach. The owner just expects you to follow simple rules (wash sand off your feet) which was fine by us. Would love to stay at this same rental again, highly recommend!

The home is beautiful and decorated well. The location was wonderful and it was fun to walk to the beach, shopping and dining. Great hippy vibe.
Now why not a 5 star? Be warned about the owner. My phone was dead and I left it inside to charge while we went out not realizing the text i sent my husband with codes to reenter didn't go through. We were locked out with no way of getting ahold of the owner. We worked with yahoo to get my email to his phone. We also tried reach the owner through vrbo by going to one of her listings and messaging her we were locked out and asking her to call us on his phone since she lived local. Yahoo helped us get the email and once inside I called the owner apologized and took full responsibility for locking us out. She said, "I've wasted the last 45 minutes of my life I can't get back, " "This isn't a hotel, and I am not your concierge." She explained that by contacting her on vrbo, we had taken her listing off, interfering with booking. I again apologized and let her know we would cancel the request immediately. She stated twice "don't make me call you back and tell you to cancel the listing". I am a therapist specializing in anger. I had no problems deesculating the behavior but other folks could have easily become rattled and scared of this extremely unhealthy response to a very small issue. We took full responsibility for locking ourselves out, BUT she works in hospitality, and it doesn't seem to be an area that works with her personality

The bungalow was very cheerfully decorated. Great location. Host constantly scolded us. Made accusations which were unfounded. Everything was lovely except for her. Have never had that kind of experience with a host before.

My middle schooler and I loved this rental! It was an easy walk to restaurants and the beach, and we were thankful that a wagon, chairs, and umbrella were provided. The outdoor spaces were welcoming and much appreciated when the weather is as beautiful as it is in San Diego! And although we could definitely hear the airplane noise, it didn’t affect our sleep whatsoever. The only downside was the pullout couch was very loud and squeaky as a bed. Overall we highly recommend this place!

We have stayed at this property twice. It is located in the laid back area of Ocean Beach only 1 block from the beach and walking distance to all kinds of shops and food. Centrally located so it is quick to wherever you want to go. The accommodations are cute and mostly clean and thoughtfully planned with everything you can think of. Our only complaints are the sofa which is the most uncomfortable piece of furniture we have ever sat on. It is also a sleeper sofa so we tried that and it was even worse. The first time we stayed was was Summer 2022 and it was pretty hot and there was a major fly issue. We planned on grilling with the grill that is provided on the patio but it was so dirty and nasty that we couldn't. We brought it to the hosts attention the first time and this time it was just as dirty. I recommend replacing the grill and sofa for a more pleasant stay. Also not a huge fan of the signs all over the property telling you how to do things, like how to clean the sink and what not to use in the shower, so on and so forth. It's a little weird. The other unnerving thing was that the housekeepers showed up on our second day and had their days confused followed shortly there after by the property owner showing up to let us know she had someone working on the garage. A text or phone call would have been sufficient.
Overall pretty good but I think we will stay someplace else next time, a little more comfortable and a little more relaxed.

My husband and I visited this property the third weekend of April 2023 on a last minute trip to San Diego to just get away for the weekend. The bungalow/cottage was just as described on Verbo. Instructions for arriving and departure were provided and we were able to access the property without problem. We don’t live anywhere with a garage so parking was challenging and that the garage is narrow and not exceptionally deep. Our Toyota Tacoma fit with perhaps 2 inches in front and 2 inches behind with the washer and dryer present. If someone had had to use the washer and dryer it would’ve been challenging. The one negative I would say is the noise from the airport. I was not prepared for planes taking off and landing from 6 o’clock in the morning until after 11 o’clock at night. If you’re looking for a place right next to the beach with great amenities and a very comfy bed this is the place for you.

Cute place, very clean, and in a great location. The decor was adorable, and the proximity to the dog beach was convenient. We also really enjoyed having the private outdoor area. Oh yes, and having access to the garage was such a relief because street parking was hard to come by. Thanks for everything!

I booked this stay for my husband's birthday hoping it would be the perfect fit, I searched all around trying to find the best place to stay and I thought I found the place I was looking for. This was my first time ever booking with Vrbo or any site for that matter and I had high hopes, check in process was easy, the house was adorable, and I was so excited for our stay. I did invite a couple people to the house just until we were ready to head out to eat since there were a couple places nearby. But as our guests arrived, the landlord called yelling up a storm over the phone. I tried to explain to her that I didn't realize our friends werent able to be there while we waited for everyone to arrive and that no one else besides my husband and I were staying the night but she completely ignored me and continued to yell, I apologized regardless and said that everyone was leaving. As we were heading out, we heard a knock at the door and it was the landlord! She didn't even give us 5 minutes to vacate before she was at the door yelling at us to leave and just being completely hostile! I was so uncomfortable and embarrassed by this. As my husband was talking to her and apologized as well she continued to call us names and yell at us. We are not children and we completely understood that we had to leave already at this point but she was so out of line for talking to me and my guests this way. I cant believe how everything went down and I am so deeply let down by the fact that my husband's bday was now ruined. This landlord is one of the worst people I've ever come into contact with and I hope and pray she never rents to another couple again. Completely out of line behavior and definitely will never be booking with her or anyone else for that matter, the landlord made it a completely traumatizing stay for the short amount of time that it was.

My best friend and I loved staying at your property! It was clean, well- maintained and delightful. We loved the decorating and realized me could function in a much smaller place just fine! This was giving me ideas for my own home. We loved being able to watch the sunset every night at the beach just 2 blocks away. It was spectacular every night!

This was a great property for us to stay at. It is truly just a block away from the beach, and in a quiet neighborhood. The kitchen was well-stocked with all the cookware I needed so that we were able to prepare meals at the cottage quite easily, although we were a quick drive/comfortable walk away from some delicious eateries and coffee shops as well. Very clean upon arrival, and everything here is high quality and very well-thought out to the variety of needs guests may want/need. We did use the sleeper sofa and it too was actually comfortable!! Truly a great place to stay.

We had a wonderful stay in this cute and vibrant cottage. Everything was clean and it had everything we needed to enjoy our stay. Definitely starting at 6am - we starting to hear the airplanes pass by. It looks like we were in direct path. There were times it didn't phase us, but other when it was a little louder than usual. Other than that, we really enjoyed it here.
Even being in an unfamiliar location, my little fur baby was so comfortable in this space. When walking in the neighborhood, there were so many people walking their dogs. It was nice to be in a dog friendly neighborhood and to have the dog beach a block away.
We enjoyed the patio and used the BBQ to grill some lunch and dinner. Great way to enjoy the space for a quick getaway.

Wonderful mini-vacation.
Let me start with the property itself. The cottage was just as described and perfect for my husband, our two dogs, and myself. It is very comfortable and really cute - and we loved the fenced-in patio. The location is amazing. One block from the beach and a short walk to the dog beach and the mini-downtown area. There are also many other surrounding areas easily explored by bike (ours are peddle-assist electric bikes). We went to the Point Loma Lighthouse, Balboa Park and Old Town San Diego, all on bikes. It was a perfect getaway and we are already planning when we can return. Thank you!

Highly recommend
We stayed at this property last year for our family beach vacation and loved it so much we chose to stay there again. I love ocean beach and the walkability of everything to the cottage. The beach is a short walk away. The host provides everything you need. She is also extremely accommodating to extra requests and is a joy to work with. The place is clean and I absolutely love the decor. It’s a small cottage but with the high ceilings feels much larger. And it still has plenty of space to cook small meals and relax. We are already planning our next trip.

I stayed with my wife and two boys as well as our dog. The property is in a great location close to the dog beach, restaurants, and stores. The property owner was clear with there instructions and everything was clean and easy to find. I would stay there again and recommend for a getaway.

Overall, it was a decent stay. I brought my 74 year old Mom and two dogs.
My Mom has terminal cancer and is very ill. This was to be our last vacation together. Overall the stay was decent. It was very tight quarters in the one tiny bathroom that was in the bedroom, so if you had to use the restroom at night, you had to wake the person sleeping in the bedroom to come in to use the bathroom. Every morning at 6 AM the planes started coming over and they are very loud so there was no sleeping thru them. The crowd noise outside is very loud, even at night. On the second day, My Mom was trying to take a nap and all of a sudden some kind of super loud alarm started going off right outside the door and it kept going off for about an hour. No one came to turn it off so we called to let the owner know and she did come to fix it. The beach was too far for my Mom to walk to, and the dog beach allowed dogs to run off leash which may be nice for people who like that. This place would be nice for a couple as it is tight quarters. Also, there is a tiny deck and private area in the front, but no place to let your dog go to the bathroom, so you will have to walk them for them to go. Mom and I only stayed for 2 days out of our 5 that we booked because she was too uncomfortable there and couldn't get any rest due to all of the noise. We did not get the money back for the days we did not stay.

Fell in love with this beach cottage. Location was perfect- we walked to everything. The cottage was clean, well stocked, and beautifully decorated. The bed was comfy and the garage was stocked with beach chairs, umbrellas, boogie boards, and coolers. The owner was very responsive to my questions. I'd stay here again in a heartbeat!

Easy access to the home, private patio, back alley. The layout had plenty of space for us and our 2 dogs. Kitchen was tight but carried all the essentials for cooking. Pleasant stay aside from the noise of the planes but that is a constant when in OB or Mission. Would stay again.

Lovely stay in OB
We enjoyed a lovely stay at Grant’s Getaway this week. A short walk to the beach. Loved watching the dogs at the dog beach park! Apartment is great for 2. Very clean with attention to detail! Cool decor and we found everything we needed in the kitchen. We had to contact Katrina during our stay for a minor issue. She quickly came over and took care of it right away. It was a real perk to have garage parking. Would recommend for a couple getaway.

Location, Privacy, Immaculate!
The location can't be beat - 4 minute walk to beach. But what's just as nice about this bungalow is that it is immaculately furnished and kept, has it's own private deck / barbecue (not shared), and of course garage parking! You'll feel the weight of the world lift off your shoulders as soon as you enter the yard. This property is maintained out of love, not profit. Nothing at all is run-down about it....Instead attention is paid to the smallest detail to make your stay serene. My congratulations to Katrina and her team. It's definitely in my top 3 VRBOs for OB.
