Driftwood Cottage

Driftwood Cottage is a 3-story, 3 bedroom +sleeping loft, 3 ½ bathroom home that sleeps 12 people or 14 with the addition of the Carriage House Guest Suite. Driftwood Cottage is centrally located on Porcupine Lane on a spacious hilltop corner lot with easy access in and out of the development. The Lookout’s Main Park with Fireplace, BBQ, and Playfield are within view of the wraparound front porch. It is only a quick walk to the pool area with hot tub, pickleball court, and playground. Take in the sunrise sipping coffee on the back patio in the morning and end your day enjoying the sunset and a glass of wine in the evening from the front porch.

Driftwood Cottage is an ideal escape for families or groups of friends with children as the third floor has been designed with them in mind! Twin bunk beds in Camping theme sleeps four children comfortably while the Queen Sleeper Sofa is perfect for older kids or parents who enjoy watching a movie or playing games. Xbox One is preloaded with MineCraft and Fortnite as well as a Wii with Rockband Instruments and Wii Fit Board. Lots of room to play, or when it’s time for a nap, relax with some books in the play tent or on your bunk bed. There are plenty of games to play and DVDs to watch when everyone needs a break from all the outdoor activities Chelan has to offer. There are three separate bedrooms in the main house. The Carriage House Guest Suite can be added for Grandparents or others who may enjoy a little break from the action and some peace and quiet.

The Lookout community is growing and there may be construction activity during your stay. Construction hours vary by season but will fall between 7:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. on weekdays and weekends. Please contact Guest Services with any questions or concerns.

Excellent place for a group of families, very clean and neat. Kitchen had all the utensils we needed, bedrooms and bathrooms in the main house were very clean and comfortable. Just wanted to mention 2 items that require attention: mattress of sleeper sofa very worn out, needs replacement; and the carriage house has a strong smell, not sure if due to the carpet or paint.

The management brought us a new fridge right away but it was much smaller, which made it hard since we had 12 people in the house. The microwave handle was also broken so we were nervous to use it. We also weren’t told about the amazing lake access and just happened to find it the day before we were leaving. We then found it mentioned in the manual but that needs to be way more advertised. We felt jipped out of an amazing experience .

We had a lovely stay in a beautiful vacation home. The location was perfect. The only issue we had was with the local property manager who called to inform us we could not have our dog in the home. We only booked this property because it is pet friendly. It appears the local manager did not have this information.

Our family enjoyed this Cottage with all the fun activities provided by The Lookout and in the Chelan area. We missed only one thing at the Cottage...a full length mirror . We highly recommend this place for a large family!

Good Times

Good Times

We went with another family (our four kids and their two). We all had a great time, the kids all had a blast running around and playing with each other. They enjoyed the music video game with the microphone and instruments and we went to the pool, hot tub, and playgrounds every day. The house was clean, beds were comfortable. My only indoor issue was the range… if I turned the right front burner to low, the back and center burners all started trying to light. Trying to light the right front burner would trigger any of the other burners and then the right front would finally light with a massive flame that engulfed the large pan. I then stuck to the left front burner. I gave the “accuracy of online listing” three stars because the photos/description neglect to inform potential vacationers of the narrow roads with parking on one side only.. very irritating because we brought a jet ski. And had to pay to tie it up at the docks even though those pictures are included in the rental photos when they are not part of the deal. We never communicated with the owner so I cannot rate that experience. All in all we did have a great time and the annoyances were minor; first world problems.

Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: We love The Lookout, and this past summer was now our fourth time coming as a family. While the home we rented was charming in many ways, a big disappointment for me was the kitchen. I am a big cook, and had planned many meals for our family, but while the other homes at The Lookout were well stocked, this one was not. There was no grill pan, only one small sheet pan, and a lack of skillets. Also, the utensils were sparse, as were the glassware. The pantry was locked so we had to keep our food on the counters, and there were no usual items found in vacation rental properties like salt and pepper or oil, meaning we had to make a trip to the store mid-meal prep. In addition, the upper suite above the garage was locked on the first night we arrived and no one was able to figure out how to get it open until the following day.

A few things to improve. There is only street level parking. For the size of the home and price we paid there should be access to park in the garage.
2nd floor bathroom door handle was broken and none of the bathroom fans worked.
Bigger beds for two of the rooms on the 2nd floor would be nice.

That said, it is a very nice house and would recommend to others.

We were there during the heatwave and I was impressed how cool the house stayed. We were impressed with the community and amenities they provided with the rides to the beach and the poolside social. We called with a few questions and they were very responsive in answering all our concerns with regards to extra parking. No need to bring beach towels they have that covered! The fireworks on Saturday were awesome!

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: We had a lovely time at the Driftwood Cottage w/Carriage House. The house was comfortable for our group of 10. The property description was accurate, although I would caution that the sleeper sofa is not something I would count on using at all! Our 10 year old would not sleep on it due to how uncomfortable it was. I can't imagine an adult being able to sleep on it. We also had a few issues upon arrival which the management were quick to address. Unfortunately one of the issues was the firepit not working. It was unable to be fixed during our stay so we missed out on that aspect - which was one of the reasons we rented this home. The home is in a perfect location to access both pools and the waterfront, which was awesome. Also, wanted to note that the window coverings do not block light - thankfully we always travel with sleep masks. My parents stayed in the carriage house and said the sun just poured in in the mornings. Would be much more comfortable with blackout blinds/drapes Will be coming back to rent again but will most likely find a different rental.

But we decided to try the Lookout at the Driftwood Cottage. To be honest the amenities in this house were the best we have seen and we really liked the community feel, and the convenience to get to our boat with the carts. We will definitely be here again next year!
