Enjoyed our stay and the local area

Pleasant stay. The house is in the middle of Chincoteague, so everything is close (multiple restaurants you can walk to, etc.) but it's on a side street that gets very little through traffic, so it still manages to feel quiet. The house is dated but very comfortable, all four adults had their own room, and the host was a pro - communicated everything before we needed to ask.

It wouldn’t have taken much to make this a 5-star stay. Small $ items like soap, shampoo, toilet paper, decent window blinds, fix broken light fixtures, spruce up torn wallpaper, very worn out furniture, etc. As a former host myself, these are no-brainers. Our first trip to the store should not have been to buy essentials. But the location is perfect! The house was large enough for the 4 of us. We had a wonderful time and will be going back to Chincoteague but probably not to this house. There are so many to choose from on the island with more to offer.

We enjoyed our return stay at this clean and comfortable home. Lots of space to spread out and walking distance to shops and restaurants. Great vacation spot!

Have been renting homes from Home Away/VRBO since 2007. Have never been disappointed until now. Would have left upon arrival if I had another option. First sign should have been that outdoor garbage was half full when we arrived. House reminded me of a beautiful person dressed in dirty rags.
Downstairs floors and rugs were visibly dirty. Bought Swiffer day after we arrived and vacuumed, however, rugs are so filthy that they need replacing. Rug in upstairs bdrm with sofa reaked of cigarette smoke. All the very inexpensive blinds in the house were damaged (could be replaced easily at less than $5 each).
Living room - Big stain on sagging panels on ceiling in living room that looked like they could fall any moment. Fabric on top of leather like ottoman was completely peeled off, love seat had no legs so you were literally 4 inches lower than matching sofa. DIY coffee table makes room feel cheap.
Dining room - DIY table is uneven and gaps in slats make it unusable without tablecloth (brought one with me). Blinds severely damaged.
Bathrooms - With the exception of paper blinds on window, downstairs bathroom was perfect. Inside of upstairs tub felt like it had been repaired and not sanded/polished. Had to buy a mat for inside of tub to bathe my grandchild in. There were plenty of towels, but if staying for more than a few days bring laundry pods to wash them.
Kitchen - 2 Power strips on back of counter (on same side of sink) were only outlets to use coffee pot, microwave or anything else you need electricity for in kitchen. Floor was dirty. Old oven (not meaning antique) stopped working Thanksgiving morning and oven light started flashing and beeping when using stovetop for prolonged period at higher than medium temperature. If it wasn't for family living down the street dinner would have been ruined. Coffee pot was large Keurig so purchased a drip maker for our 6 day stay. Not a paper towel to be found. Brought several rolls.
Bedrooms - Sheets were provided, but brought our own. Had to wash upstairs blankets upon arrival because white one looked visibly dirty and found pet hair on another. No comforters/bedspreads as pictured on website. Thank goodness we brought extra blanket and one guest used blanket that wasn't used in small room to keep warm. Beds were comfortable though.
Too many other things (negative and positive to mention) Suffice to say house needs serious deep cleaning and upgrades. It's very charming, just needs love.

A lovely spot for a short, peaceful vacation.

The furniture was older than appeared on line. Pet must have preceded our visit based on occasional smell of urine emitting from boards and black dog hair on porch day bed.

After Tax Season Getaway
Wonderful location !! Great sunsets just up the block. Quaint home. AWESOME Front porch. Never turned on the TV. Could use a few more pots & pans. Perhaps update the Porch chairs- Formal Dining Room chairs . . . . . but all in all PERFECT. Would definitely recommend.

Wonderful place to explore Assateague
Perfect location. House is well kept with plenty of room for 4 adults. Owner very helpful in clearing up small issue. Wish the dining room table didn't have open spaces between the wood planks so utensils didn't fall through.

Chincoteague stay
House was great and very comfortable. Had three vehicles and the parking at the hose could accommodate all three so no need to find a place on the street. Really enjoyed our stay.

Great location
We had a great time but the property needs a thorough cleaning. Lots of dust in the upstairs tub and under appliances. Property is in a good location to walk to many things in the island.

Comfortable stay and Central location
We had an enjoyable 2 night stay. We were able to walk to some nearby shops and restaurants. It was a good value for the price. For an older house it is well maintained and offers modern convenience.

Did the trick!
My family and I wanted to explore the Chincoteague Island area and this place worked well for us. Close to restaurants and shops, comfortable rooms, a small but decently outfitted kitchen, and a responsive host. Easy access to the refuge and beach. Thanks Annie!

Historic Quaintness
Our stay here was lovely! The 1930's features of this home have been preserved with some unique touches of whimsical art. If you are looking for a 'home base' while exploring the surrounding areas, then you won't regret staying here.

Charming Home
My family loved staying at this beautiful older home. It was comfortable and clean with plenty of space for everyone. An added bonus was that it was dog friendly. The screened in porch was a great place to hang out. The location is within walking distance to town and restaurants/ice cream and a quick bike ride or drive to beach. Would stay here again!

Wished We Could Have Stayed Longer
Beautiful Victorian home. Wonderful respite for our family. Enjoyed walks to historic downtown. Close drive to the beach. We saw horses and played in the waves. The mosquitoes were fierce near the house and everywhere but the beach, so bring your bug spray. Our kids enjoyed spreading out in the house and we enjoyed the beauty of the hardwood. Our dog enjoyed the screened in porch when we went exploring. Note to dog owners, Assateague is a wildlife preserve and dogs are not allowed on the island, even in the vehicle, so bear that in mind when deciding to bring the pet. We had a delightful time and wished we could have stayed longer.

Great trip
Great location. Cute house. Check in was a breeze. First time we went to Chincoteague and we will be back. Home could use a plug in fan upstairs as it got a little hot. But other than that it was a great trip. Kids loved it!

Three stars
This house is cute and in a very convenient location. I and my kids have been coming to CI for years. My Mom still lives there, so we know the island. We’ve rented some places in the past few years because my kids, who grew up coming here, now have wives and kids and we have too many to all stay with my Mom. The home we rented last year was not available.
This rental was ok except for the fact that some of it was just not clean. Fortunately the kitchen and baths were clean, however the rug in the living room was really bad. When I rent a place I don’t expect to have to clean it upon arrival, but I did here. It is a pet friendly place but maybe they need a new vacuum. The rug was full of pet hair and the wood steps and floors had dust balls and hair. When I’m charged a fee for cleaning it should be better. (We brought a dog but all of this was before the dog even arrived). We had a 9 month old and a toddler who were on the rug a lot.
In addition, the outdoor trash can was full of maggots and flies kept coming into the house. Maybe this can’t be helped.
I really don’t like leaving a negative review-truly-but if I were a first time renter I’d want to know.

Chincoteague
It was sparkling clean. Love this large rambling house. The only things I would change would be a railing for the outside steps and a handrail to help out of the tub.
Otherwise perfect ❣️❣️❣️❣️
