About this apartment rental
You’ll be staying in South Main River Park, a New Urbanist community being built on the Arkansas River in the town of Buena Vista. If your priorities are 1) convenient access to the area’s many recreational activities, 2) a beautiful location at 3) an affordable price, our apartment may be just what you're looking for.
You can launch a kayak, hop on a mountain bike or wear out your hiking shoes by just stepping out the front door. Just steps to the South Main whitewater launch area, kayak play hole and Whitewater and Arkansas River Trails at this affordable rate. These trails are tied to the Barbara Whipple Trail, Midland Bike Trail and Four Mile Travel Management Area. 175,000 acres of wilderness and BLM lands are your backyard. A skate park, pump track, and several playgrounds are just a few blocks away.
Shopping, restaurants, equipment rentals, drive-in theatre, Community Center, museum, town library and other amenities are within easy walking distance. The Eddyline Brewery and Restaurant is at the other end of our block. After a hard day of recreating you can either sit down for beer and fire baked pizza or you can sit in your own courtyard and watch the sunset over Mt. Princeton and the Continental Divide. Don't forget to drop by the Midland Stop for a cup of coffee and delicious gelato! Enjoy watching the kayakers and rafters running the rapids or bikers, hikers and rock climbers ascending 9600 foot Midland Hill on the other side of the river from South Main's 'Living Room Without Walls'. During summer evenings head on over to Music on the Beach, a place where you can enjoy free live music (TBD by covid restrictions).
South Main architectural standards are creating an authentic traditional neighborhood. High quality public space is designed for walking and creating community. You will be staying on the first floor of a 3-story classical style stone and stucco building. The apartment’s spacious living area and separate bedroom will sleep four easo;y. An open kitchen and dining area bring the total floor space to about 850 sq.ft. Entry is through a courtyard and large porch on the west side of the building. There is a good view toward 14,000+ foot Mt. Princeton and the Continental Divide, but none toward the River. The courtyard provides a private place for dining and socializing away from Main Street and the public square. The covered porch offers shelter and shade. Priced at less than the best hotel in town, we want to build a loyal core of vacationing guests who share our joy of living here. Our apartment is clean, homey and affordable, but not luxury living.
PLEASE NOTE: The apartment is below the main house. We have 3 young children who are home most days, but in bed on the upper floors around 7:30pm. Because of the nature of the building, you will hear typical noises of people living upstairs.

Beautiful condo and extremely well kept, well furnished and clean. It has all we wanted for a place conveniently located to the river and downtown. We knew nothing about BV and wanted a short visit to explore and the place was perfect.

We are on a road trip from Florida for one month wanted to explore beautiful Buena Vista, I had a wonderful time. I recommend this property.

This condo is well kept, clean, and in the newer South Main area. From the deck the view of Mt. Princeton is clear. It is well appointed and comfortable.

Perfect base camp for hiking 14ers. Then chill in the evenings with great food/drink options in BV.

Great location. Basic. Worked well as a place to sleep. VERY firm mattress. Lots of bedding. Nice place though. Like the access to the river.

Perfect location for the purpose of our trip. The apartment was very quiet and comfortable. I would recommend a short description of the location of the lock box in your narrative. I would like to thank the host's father for his assistance in getting us checked in.

Owner was fantastic to communicate with.
Bed was a memory foam but it felt more like a block of concrete with a sponge on top. Wife had to sleep on the couch.

Great property with plenty of space and great location in town. Only complaint would be the bed is pretty firm which just isn’t our preference.

It was just what we needed, walking distance to everything. We were at a motorcycle event in town so able to walk every where we needed to go that wasn't a ride. Place was large even had the Rockies Baseball Channel. Couldn't ask for more. Good parking also.

Enjoyed our visit to gorgeous BV at this great property. Perfect location. Short walk to the river, restaurants and downtown activites. Spacious unit. Well stocked kitchen. Super clean. We visited on an unusually hot July week, but stayed comfortable with the ceiling fans and by opening windows at night. We would absolutely rent this unit again on future visits to BV!

Loved the downtown location of this property. Close to the river, Eddyline, parks, and shops. Very clean, spacious and quiet. No complaints! We would stay here again!

My 17 year old son and I stayed one night in July as we passed through town. Great location in South Main neighborhood, easy on street parking, very clean and comfortable. A bit overpriced due to VRBO junk fees but highly recommended.

This stay was reasonably priced and I was satisfied with the accommodations. There was a decent amount of space for a 1 bedroom and I appreciated the quiet. I'd recommend upgrading the TV because it had really low picture quality and was generally not usable.

Right next to the Surf Hotel and all the surrounding goodness of South Main. If you want a convenient little place, this is a good pick.

Honestly this place was perfect. The listing was as described, clean, and close to what we needed.
Only issue is the front door handle which was unnecessarily complicated. Seriously replace that.
But past that you it was perfect

We had a great time and the property was a great base for the things we wanted to do. The location was close to so much yet far enough away that it didn’t get loud.

Buena Vista stay
Property was great! Very well maintained. Our only reservation was the parking. It was street parking and often it was hard to find a place to park. It was a holiday weekend which was probably a factor.

Perfect little base for exploring BV and all of the local outdoor activities.

Excellent location
We loved the location of this rental and the space configuration. My teenage daughters had the bedroom with a door to close so I had the pullout couch where I could get up early and be in the kitchen without waking them. I liked that the bathroom could be accessed from either the bedroom or the living room. I found the instructions for the thermostat confusing and didn’t know there was no air conditioning. It got very cool at night, so it wasn’t a problem, but I would not like that later in the summer. Stephanie was very accessible and responsive. Overall, it was a good experience.

Summer Weekend Getaway
The first floor condo was clean, spacious and quiet. Large, smart TV, big living room & kitchen. A nice place to stay for the weekend. The outside view is limited, but the location makes up for that since a one block walk gets you to the Arkansas River and fabulous mountain views.

Awful check in experience
Perfect location and condo was ok. Could you a little more decor, feels pretty cold. We also were not at all happy about having to take out our own trash, strip the couch if we used it as a bed etc. AND being charged a big cleaning fee. Was also very disappointed that between the 4 people and numbers we were given, none would answer the phone.

great location for us, was at a wedding in the Surf Hotel.
property is in very good shape and in a great location. A large one bedroom with a large full eat in kitchen. Instructions for everything, including check-in which was simple and easy.

Great location
My daughter and I used this as a basecamp for a river surfing/trail running trip. The location couldn't be better!

Despite the convenient location, I can not recommend this rental—unless you like noise, a stiff bed. Everything started out okay: We were told ahead of time that more people were now living upstairs and that we could cancel if that was a problem. (Unfortunately, with over 20 weddings in the area that weekend, no alternatives were available by the time we were informed.) Concerned about noise, we requested a fan and Stephanie, the manager was quick to provide fans and a white noise machine. Initially, text communication was swift and responsive. Even our first night was not so bad. (We only had to contend with a stiff mattress and footsteps at 2:30 am. )However...The bed and couch proved very uncomfortable. And the noise level steadily increased throughout our stay. We could not sleep-even with the fans and white noise machines on. The owners, who live upstairs, probably tried to be quiet at first. But, with kids, a dog and someone who gets up in the middle of the night and walks above rental bedroom, we finally had enough. The fans were no match for the percussive footsteps. Three nights with little sleep, plus failed attempts to nap proved untenable. With the steady increase in noise and persistent discomfort of the bed and couch, we requested to depart a day early and I had to find alternate lodging. Much to my surprise, I did not receive a refund as expected. Rather I was told to take it up with the grandfather/owner, who already conveyed his unwillingness to remedy the situation through a few rounds with the daughter/main contact. So, bottom line is: despite good intentions by a mom with young kids and a dog. And despite 3 noise-cancelling machines, the noise and stiff mattress made this unlivable. And, in the end, we learned that the real manager, the grandfather, preferred to keep our money, rather than try to communicate with us or mitigate an already disastrous experience. This took my “communication” rating from a 5 (with daughter who was super responsive) to a 2 (due to the grandfather who stonewalled in the end. )We have been renting from VRBO for over a dozen years. Sadly, this is our first bad experience. So, I recommend confirming that the heavy footsteps will no longer be pounding above your head if you consider staying here. Furthermore I would plan on a dark apartment with uncomfortable furniture. Finally, if you do stay, be sure that there is an out clause with a refund if it proves unlivable.
