About this house rental
If you need more space for your group, I have another lakehouse just as enjoyable and comfortable a few houses down, VRBO #1032449
***VRBOs local activities map indicates an 18 minute walk to the lake however it is actually a one minute path to my dock on the lake.
You have found the perfect lakehouse cabin on Lake Lanier and the North Georgia Mountains - only 45 miles from downtown Atlanta, 5 minutes to shopping, dining, golfing, 20 minutes to wineries, more shopping, hiking and other activities.
Hidden Gem is well-equipped for remote working & remote schooling. The fast cable internet, with break-times for lake activities, a quick hike or shopping excursion, make remote work and school a perfect life experience.
Whether you love to shop, canoe, paddle boat, kayak, fish, paddle board, explore the North GA Mountain waterfalls, wineries, hiking & biking trails, or just relax, this beautiful mountain lakehouse is designed for a perfect vacation, work spot or any get-together on Lake Lanier in the North Georgia Mountains.
Local marinas for renting boats during warm seasons are an added bonus. Gainesville Marina is 20 minutes by boat and car. Port Royale, Aqualand, Holiday, and Bald Ridge Marinas are also nice options about 30 minutes by boat & car. You can also bring your own boat and fill up as needed at Athens Boat Club, 7 minutes by boat.
My 3-story home is nestled down a lush, wooded hillside. The downhill driveway provides privacy as well as a closer view and walk to the lake. The private platform dock is in plenty of water (narrow, private cove, but with steep underwater terrain) with room to tie up boats & jet skis, as well as room to play in the water with my water toys and sturdy ladder to help you out of the water. I feel like the water is fresher and cleaner up here, further north due to the Chestatee River flowing through just seconds away.
My lakehouse cabin is well-appointed with 3 floors providing privacy for everyone. The 4 bedrooms each have an attached bath. The layout consists of 2 bedrooms with a Jack & Jill bath on the upper floor, master bedroom with attached bath on the main floor, additional bedroom with attached bath on the lower floor. The main floor also includes the kitchen with granite countertops and a window seat/ breakfast nook, a dining area with 12 foot bench wall and large table, family room with wood burning fireplace that is open to a huge 3-sided glass sunroom, perfect for bird watching and 'Oh, the views!'. The sunroom feels like a glass treehouse that is suspended over the lake. Comfortably furnished for coffee, cocktails or a well-deserved nap, the sunroom is one of my favorite spots! The lower terrace level features a 400+ square foot bonus room including a queen bedroom with attached bath, built in bunk beds, queen bed & laundry room and outside access to a comfortable porch and views of the lake.
My Hidden Gem has a large covered porch, upper deck with patio table set, a grill area and several intimate outside seating areas. The 3 minute walk to the lake is a short flight of stairs through a lush selection of Mountain Laurel, Rhododendron and Azalea and then on to the 2nd dock at the end of a level path.
My private platform dock, only for your personal use, is situated close to the mouth of the cove in 'deep' water. ***Please note the dock is the 2nd and last set of steps on the path to the lake. If you love to fish, you will delight in all the bait fish you can catch right off the dock. If water sports are your thing, you will be pleased with how many toys I have around the dock. My outside areas provide plenty of places to dine, entertain, romp in the woods or just sit back and watch the lake. ***I have surveillance cameras along my trail to the dock & around the dock area due to a neighbor with no lake access frequently using your lake equipment and dock***
Hidden Gem - Chestatee features 4 flat screen tv's throughout the house, cards/board games and magazines, wireless access, and a washer/dryer for your use.
Hidden Gem is perfect for families, friends, corporate retreats, business trips, girls' and/or guys' weekends, wedding events, or individual/couple's getaways. Located 1 mile to Nix Bridge public boat ramp & park, 3 miles to Toto Creek public boat ramp & park, 5 miles to North Georgia Premium Outlets, dining or beautiful Chestatee golf course, you will be in a private escape surrounded by all the fun.
Wineries, golfing, tubing, waterfalls and hiking are all within 20 minutes, north on GA400. Dahlonega, w/ great shopping & dining, are14 miles. Alpine Helen, Cleveland and Brasstown Bald are within 20-35 miles. Whatever activities you love, Hidden Gem - Chestatee is a great place to enjoy it all.

Undisclosed problems. Not VEBO quality.

Wendy very accommodating. House had everything we needed. We really enjoyed our stay. The only mild drawback was that you have to walk through a bedroom to get to any of the bathrooms. We were all family though so it worked out.

This house was perfect for our family—five adults, three children, and two dogs. The third level and dock were the fun zones for the children. The host thought of everything from board games to Foosball to paddle boards and fishing rods.
The "grown-ups" loved the peace of the sunroom, which was more like a tree house. The dappled sunlight in the treetops created a sweet space for communion with family.
The kitchen had everything we needed, and it was easy to prep meals. We loved gathering around the large dining table.
I will offer a word of caution about the steep driveway and inside and outside steps. Please check with the host if you or your guests have mobility issues.
The host was the epitome of professionalism and grace. She responded to our needs quickly and with good humor. She obviously loves the property and wants her guests to have a wonder-full experience.

This was my first VRBO and me and my family's experience was outstanding. The house was in perfect order and fit our family very nicely. The location is perfection. Being there on the water and we were able to take advantage of all of the water sports amenities supplied by the owner. I highly recommend anyone considering this property for their vacation and you love the water, you will not be disappointed. This property is convenient to lots of local attractions. We visited the gold mine near Dahlonega, the Georgia Aquarium and the Blue Ridge/McCaysville train. All easy drives from the Hidden Gem.

We had an amazing time at this beautiful home! We felt so comfortable- plenty of places for people to be and interact with each other and we neither felt too far from each other nor right on top of everyone.
The kitchen was perfect, well-stocked, lots of appliances and extras and easy to move around. The sun-room was all our favorite part and we loved to play games and relax there at night.
The bedrooms were comfy and roomy, and Wendy was so responsive and accommodating! AMAZING!
The only downside was the steep driveway and the size of the dock, we like to float or swim right off a dock, but all the water toys and boats which she graciously lets us use were really nice!
But overall, really wonderful! We enjoyed our stay and would love to come back and stay in the spring or fall!

Loved the porch area. If we were at the house that is where we stayed especially when it was raining with the windows open

We loved this house! It was so quiet, but still close to anything you could want (restaurants, shopping, etc.) and easy to get in and out. The owner was very helpful and communicated well.

We were extremely pleased with the house and ended up catching a couple nice catfish off the dock. We will for sure be back!

Wendy was a fantastic host! The house is wonderful. Plenty of space for our 5 kids, 5 adults family group. Good gathering space, well stocked kitchen, beautiful views.

The place is dated and many things should be replace. I like it, but would not stay there again.

We had such a wonderful time at the Hidden Gem lake house this Xmas! Wendy the host went over and beyond for us from contemplating booking without pressure to purchasing new furniture to make it even nicer to leaving us a welcome gift on the main table the day we checked in.
The home is three stories so the 9 of us had plenty of room to spread out on different floors when we needed our own space, and the sunroom off the living room makes a wonderful resting area to watch the birds and enjoy the view through the glass windows.
We are so grateful to have chosen the Hisden Gem with its warm, homey feel. Everything was clean and on par and Dawsonville was a fun town to visit while we were there! Everyone in the family commented on how much they liked the place. It is just wonderful. I highly recommend you book time to rest and restore here! It’s worth every penny!

We enjoyed our stay at the Hidden Gem! We were not actually at the house a lot, but it was a cozy home and communication with the host was so easy!

Cute house, nicely decorated and clean. Owner was really easy to work with. Spent most of our time in the 3 season room (nick named The Treehouse). Grand daughter loved watching the bird feeder. Sorry about all the finger prints:)
Thanks for sharing your house!!!

We stayed at the lake house for three nights and everyone loved it. Wish we could have stayed longer!

The home was immaculate. The view was good. The beds and other home facilities were excellent. There were a few problems with appliances (e.g. the freezer wasn't making ice) and Wendy tried very hard to get someone to fix it. She supplied a water filter container since we couldn't get water or ice from the refrigerator. Some of the chairs were uncomfortable and need to be replaced. Many family members used the available one or two person kayaks to explore the lake; others used the paddleboat to explore. It was a very enjoyable stay for everone, and Wendy was very responsive to our needs!

We were there to celebrate a family member's 80th birthday. Everyone had a good time. Short walk to the dock where we took advantage of all the water toys and attempted a little fishing.

This is our second time staying here, that’s how much we loved the lake house. We enjoyed kayaking, fishing. We enjoyed sitting on the dock and sharing laughter with the family. The house was spacious, clean and comfy. It was great waking up and enjoying a cup of coffee in the den over looking the woods. So tranquil and peaceful. We will be back

We loved all the lake toys! Our kids spent hours on the paddle boat, stand up paddle board, two kayaks, and canoe. Like other reviews, it’s a long walk through the woods to the dock and steeped driveway down to house. Neither were a big problem for us but may be for older guests. The dock gets very slippery when wet so wear good water shoes! We were able to pull a speed boat up to the dock easily. Cove is quiet. The sun room was peaceful with an active bird feeder, good layout of bedrooms, lots of space in basement with games, extra towels, blankets in every room, bath tub upstairs, well stocked kitchen, welcoming touches, neighbors never bothered us, and overall clean. Only negative was walking up driveway to put trash in the cans. Would recommend OFF candles or spray, lanterns/flashlights, nets for fishing, more ropes to tie kayaks to dock, and a Bluetooth speaker.

The house was exactly as advertised - easy to find, nicely apportioned, comfortable beds, very clean. We had a wonderful couple of relaxing days here. It was close to much but far enough away that it was a great place to relax. The communication from the owner was clear and helpful. Check in was super easy as was checkout. Highly recommend!

Our overall experience was good! Wendy was very easy to communicate with and responded quickly. She was also very flexible with us and helped us with our needs.

Like being in an episode of Dawson’s Creek.
Host, Wendy, could not be more kind and responsive.
The house is truly a home. The Sun room and its view of the lake is impeccable.
The master bedroom and bed makes it hard to wake up because you could sleep forever.
Beautiful home, views, private dock and most importantly quiet and serene. Would have paid for another week if someone else had not reserved it.
Will absolutely come back.

Very nice and quiet.
The place was very nice with plenty of room to move around. Nice and quiet neighborhood. Lots of birds, chipmunks and even foxes. The lake was also a nice treat. The driveway is a little scary but we were able to navigate it. We would recommend this to anyone who wants to get away to the mountains and lakes.
