About this house rental
Book your Winter trips now as we fill up fast! Private lake access in Summer.
As usual, the cabin is professionally cleaned prior to and after your stay which includes clean sheets and towels.
Private lake access for swimming and fishing in the Summer! Easy access to Highway 108 and only 2.5 hours from the Bay Area! Easy access to Dodge Ridge and snow play in the Winter.
Welcome to my Mountain Retreat. I hope that you will find it comfortable, tranquil and well equipped. My home is about a 3 minute drive to “downtown” Twain Harte, 15 minute drive to the Black Oak Casino and an easy 30 minute drive to Dodge Ridge Ski area. There are many nearby lakes and streams for fishing or a hike! The home is on a level lot with easy access to Highway 108. Our guests have access to Sugarpine lake which has swimming and fishing in the Summer! Note: Dogs are not allowed at Sugarpine lake and not allowed to be left alone in the house while you are out unless crated. We also have a large fenced dog run area. Please clean up after your dog and dispose "poop" in the outside trash can.
This 1150 square foot home has two bedrooms and two full baths and is not your typical old rundown cabin. This updated home has tons of mountain charm with knotty cedar ceilings, plank bamboo floors. It has been cosmetically remodeled with fresh paint, new floors and granite counters in the kitchen. The two bedrooms have brand new queen mattresses and very nice/new “lodge” style furnishings. Check out the pine log bed in the upstairs master bedroom and the Ranch decor in the downstairs bedroom. Both bedrooms and the living room have ceiling fans for your comfort during warm weather. In both bedrooms and the living room, we recently installed mini split air conditioning systems for your Summer comfort! We also have central heat and a fireplace for Winter comfort.
In the Living room you will find a “lodge” patterned couch and love seat as well as a brand new full futon which can be used as an additional sleeping area. The wood stove, 55 inch flat screen TV and DVD/Blue ray player makes this room very comfortable to hang out in! I have a large number of Dvd’s that you can feel free to watch or you can certainly bring your own to view. I have a very good Comcast cable package as well as High Speed cable Internet (200 mps). The internet can support work or school from home if needed. If you play, there is a guitar hanging on the wall. It is not a toy, so adults only please!
The large kitchen is fully equipped with newer appliances and tools for most basic cooking needs. It also contains a kitchen table which can seat six. You will also like the mason jar lighting fixtures with Edison style bulbs! There is a selection of table games also for your enjoyment.
In the Summer months you can enjoy the nice deck out back which includes tall cedars, seating and a BBQ. Also, I have private lake access at Sugar Pine Lake which I can offer to my guests.
My home will comfortably sleep six guests, if you use the futon in the living room. Note: The two Queen beds have new mattress covers and bedspreads that are frequently laundered. We provide sheets, blankets and pillows and they will be clean and the beds will be made with clean sheets when you arrive. I do not provide sheets, pillows or blankets for the futon, so please bring your own or sleeping bags. We also provide each guest a bath towel, hand towels and wash cloths. Please bring your own beach towels in summer. Please compare apples to apples when booking your Twain Harte vacation home as many do not provide sheets or towels.
If you find anything that is out of order or not up to standard, please let me know. I am generally available by email for non-urgent matters and phone or text for urgent situations.
I rely on positive feedback from my guests. After your stay, it would be greatly appreciated that you post positive feedback to VRBO!
I ask that you treat my home like it is yours and take care of it. I love it here!
You will not be disappointed with your stay at my home. Again, compare Apples to Apples when choosing where to stay in the Twain Harte area. Thank you so much and enjoy your stay in beautiful Twain Harte!

I loved the house. It provided everything I needed and more for a wonderful 5 night stay. The local lake was amazing and I can’t wait to go back. The owner was very easy to communicate with throughout the whole visit. Anyone would enjoy this lovely house.

We had a wonderful stay at Gary’s home. It was very clean, comfortable and had a well-appointed kitchen and all of the comforts of home. The location was great - a 20 minute drive from Pinecrest, and close to Sonora and Twain Harte. The added bonus of having access to Sugar Pine Lake was a treat for our son. We loved our stay and would love to visit again.

This is a wonderful cabin that is very clean and well cared for! The hosts are so thoughtful and considerate, like remotely turning on the heat for us so it would be warm when we arrived and also providing wood for the fireplace. The kitchen is well stocked and labeled. The cabin is lovingly decorated and appointed so it feels like a home - cozy and comfortable. It's also really convenient to get to 108 and Dodge Ridge. It was perfect for me and my 2 teenage sons so I would highly recommend for anyone coming to the area. Thanks to Gary and Donna for the hospitality!

Gary’s cabin was the best furnished cabin we’ve been to. Pots and pans, dishwasher, books to read.
Walking distance to Alicia’s Sugar Shack for breakfast or lunch. There is an incredible view and nice walking path across the road from Alicia’s but I didn’t know the appropriate way to access it. Looks like Middle Camp Sugar Pine Road might be it?
The fireplace was awesome during our weekly stay. Note to guests – up the road half mile, there is a self-service firewood lot where you pay at the locked box. Very convenient!
The nicely fenced dog run is perfect as well.
The neighborhood was easy to walk around in and it transformed for the 2days/nights it snowed. Magical.
Gary was great with some fishing suggestions. Many spots were closed due to winter but heading up to Pinecrest Lake did the trick for me.
We only went out twice for dinner. The Amory in Sonora was good and another spot after walking around Yosemite was the Rush Creek lodge.
And lastly, the tap water was tasty 😊 We were visiting from Santa Cruz and can’t touch the tap water for drinking.
Looking forward to the next trip to Gary’s!

We stayed at Gary's place for the long weekend, so that we could ski at Dodge Ridge. We are a family of 5 and had our 2 dogs with us. The cabin worked well for us, since we have small kids that could share a bed. The backyard worked well for our dogs, because it had a low fence that kept them from wondering off. Gary was great at communicating the check-in and check-out instructions. The cabin had everything we needed and was well supplied. The kids even broke out a game of "Sorry".
We also loved the location of the cabin, because it was just minutes away from the Sugar Shack, our favorite place to grab a bite to eat in the morning and get coffee. They have the best cinnamon rolls and we enjoy the quiche as well.

What a great place to stay! Everything you needed and more. The best stocked rental I have been in. Kitchen had everything needed. Games and DVDs stacked to the ceiling! Access to Sugar Pine Lake worth the price of admission, and Gary, the owner the best and kindest communicator. Highly Recommend!

We take a kids trip every year with our 2 6 year olds, abs this place was the perfect spot for us! The neighborhood is quiet, the lake was so much fun, clean, and close. We were close to other great wilderness areas, too! The kids slept downstairs and we had the upstairs bedroom, we played games, - Jenga and Twister. The kitchen was well stocked, too. One note: the stairs are a bit steep, so watch the small children, but otherwise was perfect for our getaway.

Booked this cabin for a three day get away from the valley heat. Gary provided clear instructions for everything we needed, including how to access the private lake (which was really nice, as we had the lake pretty much to ourselves!). Cabin is very cute, with lots of personal touches. Kitchen was well stocked. Good Wi-Fi and cell reception. Great neighborhood to walk our dog around! Only a couple of blocks from Sugar Shack, with great coffee and pastries! Looking forward to visiting again!

We enjoyed our stay at this house in a quiet neighborhood in Mi-Wuk village. The kitchen is so well stocked with everything one would need. The bed was comfortable. We stayed during a recent hot spell and slept well with the new AC system. Our dogs were happy to lay on the deck and relax along with us.

I’ve stayed in many cabins in this area and this is by far the cleanest and most organized I’ve been in yet. The location is perfect if you want to be close to food and resources but still a short drive to the lake and ski resort. Staying in this cabin felt like staying in my own home. Communication with the owner was great. Would absolutely stay here again.

My wife and I and 2 Golden Retrievers loved the house. Gary was very easy to work with! We brought some food up with us, the kitchen was very well stocked - had everything we needed! Fenced in yard was great for the dogs, and there was snow at the house which was a bonus. Looking forward to coming back soon!

We enjoyed our stay at this rustic, charming cabin with all the modern amenities you could hope to have. The owner was communicative and thoughtful, making sure we had everything we needed. It was clear how much thought had been put into making the home cozy, warm, and welcoming. We enjoyed spending time with family playing games by the wood-burning fireplace, and it was great that this was a dog-friendly home! Beautiful home in a scenic location, and the owner made our stay such a seamless and memorable experience.

Comfortable for our family of 5. Mattresses were actually Comfortable!! Clean and thank goodness for the new room A/C units! It unexpectedly rained one day so per owners suggestion we drove over to see the Sequoia big trees. And definitely try out the sugar shack. The lake was smaller then I thought but lovely with the 2 floating docks. Nice place. Dog friendly! Great communication with owners.

Wonderful Family Snow Vacation!
This home was the perfect place to return to for relaxing after a full day's adventure. It's spacious and very well kept. The kitchen had everything we needed, and having two full bathrooms for our family was great. There's an excellent selection of games, books, and movies. The neighborhood was very quiet. The owner was easy to reach and quick to respond. We had a wonderful time and will stay again!

Perfect stay for the family!
I booked this home for a quick, relaxing getaway to the snow with my spouse and daughter. The house is just as pictured, very clean and one of the most organized I’ve stayed at! The interior was very comfortable and easy to feel at home in. The kitchen had everything we needed for our stay and all cabinets were labeled inside so it was easy to find everything. The showers had quick hot water and the pressure was fantastic. The pups and my daughter loved the small fenced in yard which let them run around and for her to build a snowman. The neighborhood was very quite and perfect setting. Gary, the homeowner, was easy to reach and you can tell the pride they take in their vacation home.
Thanks for a great experience and stay!

Beautiful, Comfortable and Great Location
My wife our dog and I stayed for 5 nights over my birthday and Christmas. This is one of the nicest places we’ve stayed at and definitely the cleanest. The home is clearly well cared for by Gary and Donna. All appliances worked like new- some are new. It had a nice country cabin feel with all the modern comforts. .Additionally, it feels like parts of the place have been recently updated. There’s a fenced in area in the yard which was perfect for our dog but would also work for young children. Access to the garage was a bonus, great for storing baggage, snowshoes, etc. The place is great for a couple or a couple of families. Added bonus; Alicia’ Sugar Shack (breakfast, lunch) is a short country walk away.

Awesome
It was a very cozy comfortable home with all the amenities. Great neighborhood and the scenery and fishing were the best we’ve ever experienced in CA or AZ. My family and I thoroughly enjoyed ourselves and so did our dog. The fenced yard was a huge plus! The owner was very quick to respond to our questions and very helpful. We hope to come back again next year!

Pack Your Bags for a Relaxing Getaway
This cabin is setup with all the necessities- fully stocked kitchen and all the linens. My family spent a very relaxing 5 days here. Gary (owner) is very responsive to inquiries and requests and provided written details for the properties and surrounding areas to dine. We stayed during a heat wave, but the 2 portable AC units and access to private lake kept us cool. Cabin is adorably decorated and super clean. Comfy sofas and stocked with numerous games and DVDs if the expanded cable and wifi are not enough. Close proximity to downtown Sonora and Pinecrest Lake. Would stay here again.
