The Sanctuary, an ultra luxurious 7,300 heated square feet Oceanfront home, has 8 Bedrooms and 8.5 Baths with Viking Appliances and high end furniture and furnishings throughout this amazing home! It is in a quiet neighborhood, where condos aren't allowed to be built, but close to everything. You'll have an unforgettable vacation in this spectacular oceanfront home. Walk right out of the house to the surf and sand, relax on your vacation in our brand new private pool and large hot tub or enjoy our large outdoor kitchen. The spacious pool-side deck is great for entertaining or sunbathing. Enjoy the ocean while you watch the kids play and swim for hours, having an unforgettable vacation. This beautiful, Non-smoking home has eight bedrooms and eight and a half baths with Game Rooms and private Movie Theater. We have a living room with a large 80 inch HDTV. Our family enjoyed our weeklong stay at The Sanctuary - great location, perfect weather, and plenty of space. We did identify a number of things that need attention and hope they will be addressed to ensure that the next family that vacations there can have an even more enjoyable stay.

This was the second stay at The Sanctuary for two of us and the first visit definitely enticed us to recruit others to go back.
The location of the property is wonderful and well worth it to get away from the crowds. The house is spacious, and overall things are sufficient to get by for a large group.
However, this property is at the top end of most rental budgets, and spending 10K - 20K + for a one week rental I would expect a little more attention to detail and to the obvious neglected issues.
Upon arrival the bathroom linens were missing. Long story short they were in totes on the entry level and we had to stock the bathrooms ourselves. I reached out to the property manager to notify her and received no response. We also reached out for assistance to with an A/V issue and received no response. We did however receive a response and repair within 24hrs to address a clogged drain previously mentioned in other reviews. The kitchen sink still leaks, the upstairs washer is still broken, and one of the two ovens does not function properly as stated in a previous reviews. The pool refrigerator door is rusted off the hinges, does not work and clearly hasn’t for some time. I’m only mentioning these things as they have been previously mentioned and were still issues during our stay. I would just expect slightly better attention to the amenities and issues for the price.
The property is far from a dump, it’s beautiful. Just beware if you are expecting A+ service.

This was our 2nd stay at The Sanctuary with our 19 friends and teens. (previous visit was in 2019). Overall, the stay was great and I would totally recommend this house for the space and location, but there were a few minor hiccups this stay. When we arrived we didn't have any sheets on the beds or any bath towels - I called and we had them within a few hours. We had also paid extra for just the hot tub to be heated and it took the first 2 days of the 5 total that we were there to get that figured out. A few things in the house need a little attention like a leaky/finicky kitchen faucet, showers that don't drain well and a broken 2nd floor dryer door that makes it unusable. (1st world problems... there is a working dryer on the 1st floor so it was fine) The kitchen needs a good deep clean and a little stock check. (only 2 small sheet pans in the whole kitchen for 2 ovens and a house this big?) There are two Viking ovens but the range unit has a broken door so you have to hold it shut to cook efficiently. Overall, the amount of space this house provides can't be beat and we all love having attached baths to each bedroom. The theater is amazing, the kitchen and dining areas are enormous, and the pool area is often out of the wind so it's enjoyable even on a cooler day. No rentals are perfect, but the hosts could easily fix the minor issues and this house would be close to perfection!

Yale lock inoperable upon arrival & had to wait for key;
—she thought I arrived “yesterday” and didn’t have my correct name. There were stained mattress pad, broken toilet seat, loose faucet, broken vanity door and cockroach, spiders & silverfish. Pool room equipment broken,tv remotes need addressing, no dvd in main living area, requested movie theatre instructions two months prior to stay and never got them,therefore, couldn’t play our movies. One thermostat not connected, others were low on batteries. Asked Vrbo to contact Owners but to no avail.

Had a fantastic trip with our family to this property, there were a few cosmetic things in some of the bathrooms, but nothing that impacted the quality. Property location was fantastic, beach access, the pool and hot tub worked well. No complaints, would recommend this property and will use it again!

Well stocked house , beautifully decorated house !!! We enjoyed our stay immensely and the amenities. We were disappointed that pool fridge was broken . Took 2 days to get hot tub heated . Kinda major fiasco when we got to house an another family showed up with res for same house . It was their booking agent fault but stressful for about an hour . Please be aware that linens provided but u need to make own beds. Also no pool towels with linens and no beach chairs with house . We purchased both at Walmart and left them at house for others to use after us . Our group also rented a cabana that was put up and taken down daily by a service . House has amazing views inside house and on deck and from two bedrooms . House has three coffee makers one being a Keruig.

Great except for cleaning and as much as the rental cost, the sheets and towels should be provided. the inside of the shower doors are disgusting they have soap scum all over them they have not been cleaned in quite some time! As much as the cleaning fee is the house should be spotless

It is beautifully decorated and carefully maintained.
The beds are very comfortable and the bedrooms spacious—each with a private bath. The soundproofing in the home is incredible.
Elevator— this feature helped us so very much. We loaded and unloaded our luggage and groceries with the elevator.
The outdoor furniture has cushions that are probably 4 inches thick and dry very quickly when it rains. The amount of outdoor furniture is abundant. The pool is beautiful.
There is a private enclosed
shower at the pool level with hot and cold water.
In addition to the plentiful outdoor seating and main floor seating, there are gathering spots on all floors.
There is a new gas grill that we enjoyed using. It cooked our foil wrapped salmon to perfection.
High end finishing for everything.
No expense spared.
We thank God for the opportunity to have stayed in this lovely home and we are grateful the owner chooses to share it with others by renting it.

The house was amazing and we loved all the extra's the house offers - pool table, foosball, sand shuffleboard, theater -- we enjoyed it all. What we didn't enjoy was the pool and hot tub. We paid the extra fee for heating the pool, but the pool never got above 70 degrees. The hot tub was the same -- lukewarm. The manager was very slow to respond to us -- sometimes taking 18-20 hours to get back to us. In talking with the pool service (who came several times over our stay), the pool and hot tub have been having issues. The pool service said they had been fixing on the hot tub before our arrival, but they hadn't cleaned up all the sharp pieces of broken tile from the pool -- which ultimately didn't matter because the pool never got warm enough for us to use along with the hot tub. I feel the manager should have been upfront with us about the condition of the pool and hot tub, especially when I had reached out to her 3 days before our arrival and asked if we could pay to have the pool heated. Coming from the snow and ice of Minnesota, we were really looking forward to using the pool and the hot tub. Overall, we enjoyed our stay but the pool and hot tub was a daily discussion and frustration for us.

I recently rented this home to host all of my bridesmaids the night before the wedding. There was PLENTY of space. We brought in the hair and makeup artists who also enjoyed the set up. The only negative was the pool.... We had my videographer get shots of me at the house and the pool was GREEN and DISGUSTING. We called the owner who had someone come out who did nothing.... Our family wanted to use the pool for the kids and unfortunately, we couldn't. We were never given or offered a rebate for the pool being out of commission.

We had over 20 family members on this trip from ages 3 to 80 and fun was had by everyone. The house was spacious with rooms we could all gather and areas we could be off to ourself if we wanted. The kitchen is huge with plenty of eating spaces for everyone. The walk-in pantry is nice to store food so it was not just lying around on the counters. The bedrooms are nice with comfy beds. The theater room became a nightly hangout for the younger crowd to get away. The pool, hot tub and backyard are great, but the hot tub needs a little maintenance where the tiles are missing on the outside but still worked fine. The beach was wonderful. I was worried being next to a public access walkway That it might get crowded, but that was not the case. We were able to spread out comfortably. Kroger is nearby which made it nice not having to drive far groceries. The house could use a little maintenance here and there as most seaside houses do but nothing that affected our enjoyment of our vacation. We would rent The Sanctuary again in a heartbeat.

House is spacious. Bedrooms and bathrooms were all nicely done, pool was great and well-maintained. I would recommend that there should be a shower or hose at the top of the stairs before the patio where everyone could wash off the sand before entering the house. Also, for the cost of the week's rental, beach chairs should be included!

The home write-up is misleading. The reviews were helpful, and we were reassured that all maintenance issues had been taken care of prior to our stay (some issues were months old). This house has a great layout/amenities, high end appliances (some not in the best shape), comfortable beds (all bedrooms are in-suites), but a dryer that left clothes hot and wet (fire hazard/dryer vent issue!?), appliances in the kitchen damaged, gross/black moldy showers (we had to spray them with tile mold/mildew cleaner before using them). Clogged shower drain, Viking dishwasher not properly installed, no oven mits, missing drain stopper in kitchen sink ( made difficult to wash dishes), broken refrig ice control panel, broken freezer basket, frozen ice maker (had to defrost), wall oven lights not working —- are just a few of the maintenance issues that should be taken care of before we arrived. The high points were the location (ocean front) and a large pool/hot tub. The theatre room was comfortable and used daily. There were plenty of outdoor lounge chairs and a huge covered deck with table/chairs.
Sue was responsive but offered no remedies for us during our stay…repairman was not scheduled to arrive until our last day, and never showed. For the price this should be in good repair and ready to go each week.
We hesitate to rent again, not knowing if these maintenance issues have been taken care of.

Property was beautiful as pictured and the space was accommodating for all 11 travelers. The beach view was amazing and the attractions were not to far to enjoy. Pool was comfortable and the one issue we had with the elevator was fixed immediately by maintenance. Plenty of space for all to be comfortable.

This property has good bones - each bedroom has a bathroom, lots of space and seating, the pool is large and the location and beach access were great. But the listing is misleading in promoting it as luxurious and with all of the amenities. The house was only surface clean and very dirty throughout including mold in one of the washing machines, dirt stains on the doors and bannisters, items left behind from other renters under the beds, and various stains on the furniture, rugs, etc. More so, many of the amenities were broken. The microwave was not working properly and it took two days to get a replacement, one of the bedroom TVs wasn’t working, a couple of the remotes weren’t working, cabinet doors were loose, faucets were loose, fixtures were coming off the walls, one of the bed frames collapsed when we tried to add sheets, and the refrigerator outside by the pool wasn’t working at all and looked like it hadn’t been for some time. The kitchen was missing basic items such as an oven mitt, peeler, and blender, all of which we had to purchase. There were plenty of dishes and silverware though. The owner was very quick to respond but this home was on the higher-end price-wise and with the numerous issues I contacted her about, she never once offered some type of refund. We chose not to pay for the linen service based on past reviews but had to pay $695 to heat the pool and at least one day the hot tub didn’t warm up until the evening and it would partially drain at times before 11pm. Ultimately we had a great time but were very disappointed in the condition of the home, especially based on the listing and the amount of money we spent for the week.

Our family reserved this home based on the amenities listed on the website. To our surprise, it needs major upkeep e.g.. the theater room was inoperative in that nothing came on, mold in the washer machines, broken elevators, broken curtain rods, unfinished paint on the walls around the window wobbly bar stools., outside lights did not work, which made it unsafe to walk at night. Bulbs need to be replaced, unclean pool and mildew on outside furniture, lack of security on the second level due to the gate not able to lock. Initially the elevator was working yet, we were fortunate that one of the family members didn't get stuck in the elevator. To pay that type of money, please be courteous to reply to the renters and replace soiled furniture.

I cannot express how perfect this house was for our wedding. The Sanctuary housed our wedding party and we got married on the beach. We had a small reception under the house/in the back yard.The only thing that we were kinda bummed about was the spa was not very hot and some of the lightening under the house didn't work. Other than that the house in general, the atmosphere, and the area made for the most beautiful weekend for our family. There was a little bit of everything for everyone to do at the house, we've never been in a house so beautiful. PERFECT space to host an event.

Our family of 16 had a wonderful relaxing fun filled week staying at Murrells Inlet in The Sanctuary beach house. Our ages ranged from
9 to 88. There was never a dull moment. Laughter, smiles, and good cheer by all!
The house was amazing with views of the ocean from every level that were breathtaking. Beautiful sunsets and glorious sunrises to watch from the porch or the upper balcony. We loved the private walkway out to beach and ocean. We even had a beach covered in starfish on our second day. Our grandchildren loved rescuing them and putting them back into the ocean. It was such fun. Starfish, sandcastles, riding the waves, reading, long walks, hunting for sharks teeth, and fishing. Lazy days on the beach.
Lots of fun time was spent in the pool and hot tub. Great patio area around the pool with many lounge chairs.
We were truly blessed with amazing weather. Warm temperatures, cool ocean breezes, and even a full moon to end our days. Absolutely perfect!!!!
We started our day on the large spacious porch overlooking the ocean and pool. Always with a wonderful breeze.
The kitchen was very well equipped. We love cooking most of our meals at the house so this was a dream kitchen. With 16 people, it was fabulous to have 2 dishwashers, 2 ovens, a large gas cooktop,
2 refrigerators, a wine refrigerator, and ice machine. There were 2 large dining tables. We had wonderful family dinners all together.
There were great areas and tables for working puzzles and playing games. Big screen TVs for movies at night and an awesome theater room with reclining movie chairs. The pool table was very popular too. Fun areas for all!!!!
Spacious comfy bedrooms with private bathrooms were very nice.
***We were very disappointed in the linen service. Our linens were in rubber maid containers in the foyer when we arrived. The beach house is absolutely beautiful. We thought the quality of linens would be much nicer and that they would have been on our beds and the towels in our bathrooms.
We had plenty of bath towels and washcloths but very few hand towels. We had three dish towels and two dish cloths. Not at all what we expected!!!
It was wonderful to have 2 washers and 2 dryers.
All of our family loved every minute of our week at The Sanctuary.

Beautiful property with lots of space for people to have breathing room, yet great areas that allow for large family dinners and celebrations. The outdoor kitchen area by the pool is a fantastic touch, as is the giant theatre room for rainy days and nighttime. The views out every window are phenomenal. The giant kitchen is perfect for large groups. It was a delight, start to finish. Sue was a pleasure to work with and made everything a breeze. And when the back drop is the Atlantic Ocean and South Carolina, it doesn't get any better.

Loved the house and location~ house in need of a little attention and deep cleaning. Sue was very responsive to issues with spa and lack of hot water in one side of the house, and cleaning of bed covers. I would reccomend, but cleaning crew needs to up their game, including removing left over underwear from spa area after last guest! :))

A wonderful experience! I rented this house to host a small weekend baby shower with out of town guests. The home layout and amenities were ideal for days full of fun without ever needing to leave the house. Spacious, beautifully decorated and incredibly clean. It's been a year since my children, grandchildren and myself connected physically. (Due to covid). This vacation reunited our family and reinvigorated my soul.
The Sanctuary house was just that. One would think because of its size you would detach from others in the house.
This was not the case for our family. The house was warm and welcoming./cozy. We enjoyed the theater room, game room and well equipped kitchen the most! Lots of cooking, laughs, much needed hugs and family love was shared. We even watched the super bowl together.

The kitchen was so spacious! The walk-in pantry made it easy to tuck the food away, the double ovens made it easy to prepare the food, the double fridges came in handy. The convenience of having two dishwashers was amazing! The carefully thought out plan of having two dining room tables plus seating at the bar, let us all spread out, but yet we were comfortable . The mini beverage refrigerators on each floor was a nice touch. The beds were very comfortable and it was so convenient for each bedroom to have Its own bath. Beautiful furnishings! The elevator was paramount and getting peoples belongings where they needed to be, and with grocery store trips. The theater room… Was so comfortable. And that’s what my husband has asked for for Christmas! We used the hot tub daily, And some of the younger kids even braved the pool. We were there the first week of December and we’re blessed to have beautiful weather! The sun rises from the back deck were so beautiful. We loved having our private walkway to the beach, and took some amazing photos early morning from the bench.
My family members have asked me several times when we are going back! Five days of being there was just not enough time.

Our family had an early Christmas gathering and it was amazing. The house is so roomy that we all had bedrooms and plenty of space to visit with our loved ones. The media room was a huge hit. We had movie night after dinner and watched Home Alone one night and Home Alone II the second night. We took a vote and everyone wants to come again!

House was perfect. Beach was perfect except it's right next to the public access. The only reason I'm giving it a 4 is because there is no linen service.
