About this house rental
No matter the season, this quiet, secluded location with trees, mountain views, and the sound of Gore Creek, located only 20 feet off the back deck, will fill the bill for your next vacation. You can ski any of the 11 Colorado resorts (Vail, Beaver Creek, Copper Mt., Breckenridge, Keystone, Arapahoe Basin, Steamboat Springs, Aspen's three mountains, and Ski Cooper) and still drive home for the night to a cozy fire and comfortable king-size beds.
The Ptarmigan complex has 38 townhomes, some of which are lived in by full-time residents. The covered bus stop for the free Town of Vail shuttle is only a two-minute level walk from the front door. (The pool house hot tub is even closer!) A three-minute ride gets you to the Cascade Ski Lift (a quick and easy place to start and/or end your ski day); ride a little longer and get off at Lionshead or the Vail Transportation Center and Vail Village itself, offering all of the shopping, eating, and fun places that only Vail can offer.
If you choose, however, to stay in, you will also be content. Upon entering, you will know immediately that this is a premium unit. Being an end unit means that most days, natural sunlight fills this home. From the first view of the antler chandelier to the custom made natural wood bedroom furniture, you experience a 'mountain home' feeling. Great care has gone into choices such as furniture, artwork, and window coverings. A modern kitchen, replete with all of the cooking and serving items you should need, opens onto a dining area furnished with a dining table that seats six. The wood-burning fireplace is a centerpiece for a spacious and comfortable living area. There is plenty of seating space, but two comfortable leather recliner/rockers will quickly become favorites while reading, watching television on a big-screen high-definition television, or just watching Gore Creek flow by off the back deck. In the summer, enjoy the large deck in comfortable deck furniture and cook meals outside on a convenient gas grill (grill relocated to home's front sunny, covered area during winter). Just inside the front door is the large utility room with full-size washer and dryer, ski rack and cubbies for your ski and ski gear storage. A powder room completes the downstairs. Go upstairs and find yourself in a lovely sitting/television area that can transform into a third sleeping area if needed. The day bed, constructed specifically for this room, can, with the trundle, either make out to a queen size bed or two twins. An antique armoire in this room makes a great place to unpack your bags. In the back bedroom, you will immediately be drawn to the view from a wall of windows overlooking Gore Creek; crack one of the casement windows open to hear the stream running all night long. This is an especially large bedroom as it has been remodeled to include the balcony deck space that was once there. The front bedroom has the advantage of being 'ensuite,' with its own private full bathroom. There are two full bathrooms upstairs, with excellent large soaking tubs and modern shower heads. Bars have been installed in the tubs to aid in getting in and out if needed. All three sleeping areas have their own flat-screen TVs; the center area also has a VCR/DVD player.
The Ptarmigan complex's location within Vail is something mentioned by many guests.
Vail's primary necessities shopping area is less than a half mile away; a two-minute drive, five-minute bycycle or 10-minute walk from the unit. It includes two large grocery stores (Safeway and City Market), Christy Sports (very competitive ski rentals and sporting goods), liquor stores, dry cleaner, fast food and much more. The unit is a three-minute walk from the Gore Valley Recreation Trail, a fun path where walkers, runners and bikers can enjoy a jaunt into Vail along beautiful Gore Creek or perhaps a ride all the way to Avon or Breckenridge. The summer outdoor pool and year-round enclosed hot tub are a one-minute level walk across the parking lot from the front door.
Rates are lower for this unit due to owner management. Owner management is visible throughout the home in a personalized, cozy environment, rather than a sterile cookie-cutter appearance. Signature furniture pieces, personal artwork, and luxurious bathrooms all point to ownership who also enjoy their visits here!
Please, no smoking indoors and no pets.

Great stay at Jame’s place. Well stocked and room for all 5 of us right on the river. Loved the bus stop right at the end of the parking lot and the wood burning fireplace.

This was a truly wonderful place. The creek was literally 20' from the back porch and the sound was just heavenly. Even though we were there in late August, the wood-burning fireplace was a true bonus. We used it both early morning as well as several evenings to chase the chill away. We highly recomend.

Loved this property! Comfy, easy access, clean, etc. I loved having the river so close and listening to it at night. The location is an easy bus ride or car ride down the road from both Vail and Lionhead villages. The owner was very responsive to all of my questions and the listing description was super accurate. I would stay there again!

The property was in excellent condition/no issues. The owner reached out ahead of time to answer any questions that we might have and to explain the parking, surroundings, etc. The location is perfect for easy access to the Vail shuttle and a short drive from the Cascade lift.

One of the best equipped kitchens I've had in a VRBO.
Comfortable, super convenient to both the base area and local services. Absolutely no issues.

We all loved the place. The view with the creek was amazing. The fireplace and the entire setting was very cozy. We would definitely recommend it. We stayed with our two boys who are 23 and 21 and the loft was perfect for one of them to stay. We all had enough room. The hot tub is just steps away which everyone enjoyed. The shuttle takes you right into town and is very timely. We had a great time!

Perfect location away from the crowds at the Villages, yet just minutes away. It was very comfortable and clean..and also a shuttle stop steps away from the unit.
We would stay again.

This property was exactly like the pictures. It was clean, cozy, and location was near everything. Jim was so on point with getting back to me. When I come back to Vail CO, he is my only choice

Great location in Vail
This property is beautifully located right on Gore Creek in West Vail. The walking / bike path is only a short distance away. We were 3 adults attending a meeting, biking and hiking. This was a great choice. The owner was quick to communicate with us. Thanks!

Wonderful getaway!
Relaxing pre holiday week! Thanks to a well stocked kitchen & great appliances we cooked most meals. The rain and snow were a nice surprise and we had a fire several evenings while reading. Toward the last few days the sun came out and we visited the city of Vail as well as the Betty Ford Arboretum. Took a drive to Minturm. Pool & hot tub were not open yet but just a short walk from the condo.

Steadman Clinic Visit
The condo was prefect for our family of 4, we even had space for a couple more if needed. The unit was just as advertised and the previous reviews were accurate. The place was spacious and had plenty of options for relaxing. The setting is peaceful but close to everything. We couldn’t be happier with our choice of lodging in Vail. The host made it easy on arrival with no issues getting into the property. Highly recommend to all looking at the unit.

Total Gem
This place was excellent. It's clean, well-equipped (the kitchen had everything we needed, including a few pantry items), stocked with all the essentials of daily life (cleaning supplies, bathroom supplies, a humidifier, etc) and the location is awesome. The unit itself has a creek right outside the backdoor, a working fireplace with plenty of wood, games (and even a new puzzle that we did!). It's spacious, with the bedrooms upstairs to create a sense of separation, and right on the shuttle route, so getting to vail for skiing and/or hanging out is super easy.
We have an infant, and the property manager provided a pack and play, which was super helpful, and he was incredibly responsive on all our other requests. While being in vail village can seem tempting, the space this place had and proximity to the creek made being in west vail so much better for us.
Highly recommend, this unit provided the foundation for a really wonderful weeklong stay in vail.

Wonderful Property in All Aspects
We were a group of 4 skiers staying at Jim's Townhouse. It was clean, cozy and convenient.
The unit is well stocked and Jim was very attentive throughout our stay. The property backs up to Gore Creek, and there is a beautiful view of the creek from the living room sliders.
The shuttle picked us up steps away from the unit and was very convenient. Suresave and City Market are very close (2 minute drive) and easy to get provisions.
We enjoyed the wood burning fireplace in our unit and the community hot tub (a few steps away) that was not overly busy. The beds were all very comfortable which was appreciated after a day of skiing.
I would highly recommend Jim's unit, and we hope to stay here again.

Great Place to Stay
We really enjoyed staying at this property - spacious, clean and convenient location. The owner had great communications and clearly has pride in ownership. The condo is close to the village, which is a 10-minute bus ride. This is an end unit and on the river, making it feel very private. Highly recommend.

Condo on the river
It is an old property and needs updating, but comfortable. We had trouble with the TV's and could be cleaner especially during this covid era.
The location on the river is what sold us on renting and that was very lovely. Convenient to shopping, groceries and I-70.

Great stay!
This townhome was clean and comfortable. It is well supplied and organized. We were there during a warm week and the owner had many fans available. We also used the pool- there were no pool towels so we purchased some from a nearby store. The view outside is beautiful! We enjoyed our stay and would stay again!

Wonderful stay
It's so common for a property to look bigger and better in the pictures than when you get there. Not this one! This is a great property, everything about it our group liked. The peace and quiet is real, Gore creek is hypnotic.
Everything the other reviews say is spot on, which is so rare. Winter storm Xylia tried but failed to keep our family from Iowa and Alaska getting together for a memorable ski trip, we were a day late but it was totally worth the long travel.
We really really enjoyed our stay, great property , great owner, we would love to come back.
Thank you Jim and Signe!

Fantastic host! Lovely property by Gore Creek.
We booked this two story townhome one week in advance since the weather forecast showed a good chance of "bluebird skiing".
Instead, the weather changed, and Denver got its fourth largest snowstorm!
Jim let us have an early check in to beat the storm's arrival. That meant we got into Vail before I-70 shut down. This type of personal care is exactly why we enjoy booking our vacations on VRBO.
Having two stories made this home feel so much larger. We loved having wood fires, and we enjoyed watching the bird life out the back door. We saw a pair of mallard ducks who seemed to have claimed this section of Gore Creek for their own. We also saw mag pies and stellar jays.
I would love to come back with my grandson in the summer months, though we will wait until he's big enough to not fit through the large spaces in the stair balusters. I am sure that he would love the fun of building a fire and playing in the creek. And the home is plenty big enough for our daughter's family and us to stay there at one time.
We highly recommend this comfortable home for a family getaway to the mountains.

Amazing NYE Stay in a Great Location
We absolutely loved this townhouse! It was sparkling clean upon arrival and well stocked with everything needed to feel comfortable and cook meals from home. The views of the creek in the back of the unit are breathtaking and the location with proximity to the best stop is very convenient. Overall we had a great trip and would definitely stay in this unit again!

Outstanding by Any Measure!
Terrific amenities throughout this property. EXTREMELY well stocked kitchen for any cooking you need to do. Terrific location: delightful stream running out back, bus to the slopes at the end of the parking lot, plus a visiting weasel and ducks for your viewing pleasure as well! Jim and Signe have a super place. We hope to get back and stay again.

Peaceful Retreat
This home was exactly as presented in the description and photos. Right on the water and very private and serene out on the back deck. We sat out everyday and took in the sights and sounds of the water and the wildlife. Fully stocked and exceptionally clean. Close enough to Vail Village - a quick bus ride - or about a 3 mile walk along beautiful Gore Creek . The owner was very friendly and responsive as well. We will definitely be back and would highly recommend this property.

Clean and comfortable property
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this property. Very clean and everything is up-to-date. Being creek side was important to us and we were not disappointed. It was very relaxing to sit on the back deck area and listen to the rushing water. The I-70 traffic is within earshot, but not overwhelming or annoying at all. The owner was very easy to communicate with and always responded quickly to any questions we had. We will not hesitate to book this property again the next time we return to Vail.

Thoroughly enjoyed our stay!
We stayed here for a week for our family vacation (my husband, 15 year old daughter and me), and it was perfect!! Very clean, fully stocked and the best part was sitting in the deck, relaxing by the creek. Close to everything, but not in the middle of everything and very peaceful. We had a great walk to Vail for dinner one night on the beautiful trail! Jim was great to work with!
