About this house rental
The house is kept up and absolutely gorgeous. The house is in a great neighborhood and is very quiet. The house has huge windows and you will feel close to nature when you see the 30' pine tree out front or see the cute squirrel running across the fence line in the back. Pick some fresh apples from the trees in late August once they are ripe.
The house is a bi-level house with 9 stairs going to the front door. This house has 2 full size living rooms and 2 full size kitchens. Having 2 refrigerators is definitely handy with a big group. The second kitchen will help if one family has picky eaters. Dinner can be prepared at the same time. The upstairs can seat 12 people with a side table set up. It has 2 more bedrooms and another full bathroom. There are 15 steps going downstairs. The living area is bigger than the upstairs kitchen/living room area. It has a big 55" TV, three full size couches. The dining room table seats 6. Plus a counter that seats another 3. In the corner there is a queen bed to eliminate the use of the blowup mattress. But if it is needed there is still plenty of room if we move a couch.
The coastal trail is close by for a morning jog or afternoon walk. Shopping is only .25 miles away and downtown is only 2 miles away. It is a straight shot on the Seward Hwy which is right there. Moose's Tooth pizza is Anchorage's best pizza and is only 1 mile away. Amazing pizza and home brewed beer.
Downtown has many things to offer. Shopping, sightseeing, bike rentals, coastal trail and even fishing. Many restaurants and bars to eat delicious food. Renting bikes from downtown is great way to check out the coastal trail. You will sometimes see moose as well.
The end of May and into June is a great time to hit ship creek, right down town and reel up a king salmon. Throw on some chest waders or boots and grab a fishing pole. Don't forget to get a fishing license and be very careful of the tide. The mud and the tide can be dangerous so talk to the locals before venturing out into the stream.
Chilkoot Charlie's is the infamous bar for Anchorage. It is about 1.5 from the house and it usually has a band on one side and a dj on the other.
Total of 5 bedrooms and 3 full bathrooms. Upstairs, room 1 has a queen bed and a twin bed, room 2 has a king bed, and room 3 has a king bed. 2 bathrooms upstairs. Downstairs, room 4 has a king bed and room 5 has 2 queen beds. 1 queen bed in open area downstairs and a queen size blowup mattresses if needed. 1 bathroom downstairs.

Great stay at a great property with a great host. Well furnished kitchens (yes, two of them), baths and property. Even bicycles available for use! Host was very responsive, answering questions and providing suggestions about local cuisine. Quiet neighborhood close to (but not on) major streets. Would definitely stay here again!

Everything about our stay was wonderful! Owner was quick to answer question and help me with good choices!!

Our family (five adults) stayed here for nine nights, and the spacious setup was perfect for us—three of us upstairs and two downstairs. The house was extremely clean & comfortable and offered pretty much everything we needed. The location was conveniently close to downtown, groceries, Moose’s Tooth and the Great Harvest Bread Company (which quickly became our favorite lunch option). This was a great home base to explore the area, from Seward to Talkeetna to Lake Clark National Park. Jan was very welcoming and extremely responsive to questions—and when a minor issue did arise during our stay, she resolved it quickly.
We would definitely recommend Jan’s home and hospitality and would happily stay with her again!

Bedrooms were roomier than we expected, as was living/kitchen area.
We were a group of 11,adults and kids, staying at the house and had a family of 4 visiting often for meals. Lots of room for the kids to play outside and downstairs while adults visited upstairs.
Large back yard, with yard games available. BBQ and tools provided. Also lots of dishes and serving bowls. Appreciated the spices, not having to buy for a week. Close to two major grocery stores. Not too far to anywhere it seemed!
Host Jan is lovely and easy to reach when needed.

We stayed here for our sons destination wedding. There was 10 adults ranging from 19-69. This house was perfect. The younger adults used the lower floor and the older adults occupied the upstairs. If we ever came to AK again we would definitely stay here again. The house is beautiful and the host had very good communication and was very helpful

Jan was a very accommodating and welcoming host! She takes pride and care in her home and goes above and beyond to make sure you have a comfortable and enjoyable stay. We had a group of 14 and we had plenty of space for everyone to hang out and to sleep. It had a nice spacious backyard for the kids (and adults) to play the provided yard games and toys. The house was conveniently located within walking distance to restaurants and stores. Easy to find with just a few blocks to Seward Highway to do your travelling/exploring! If I had to rebook, I would most definitely rebook with Jan!

We rented the property for relatives coming to Alaska so, visited the property early, and we liked the layout so much we extended their stay. The home had a bedroom for each of 5 family groups plus more space if needed. The upstairs living room/dining room space allowed all guests to visit easily and the lower level family room and spacious back yard allowed the group to break up as needed. The hostess responded immediately to requests for an iron and a new coffee carafe. Colored towels made it easy to keep track of who used which. Plenty of supplies. Clear expectations posted. Double pane windows contributed to restful nights. Thank you very much!

This house is perfectly located in Anchorage to take advantage of everything in Anchorage. Also easy access to go north or south. Huge house that provides comfortable accomodations for everyone. House was accurately described and had everything we needed. Owner provided excellent tips on things to do that was helpful for out first time to visit Alaska.

This is great for large groups - you will have plenty of space. The host is very accommodating to any of your needs. It is located approx 8 min from the train station and 13 min from the airport via car - also about 10 min from downtown for shopping. If you have a car I would recommend driving to Hatcher’s Pass & Tour Reindeer farm in Palmer. We also did the 26 Glacier tour out of Whittier which was fantastic. We did have a moose and two calves awake us one morning right outside the bedroom window eating apples. No need to purchase water or ice - you will have plenty. Be sure to make dinner reservations as much ahead as possible if you have a large group, unless you do not mind 2-2.5 hour waits. We found great food at 49 State Brewery & Bear Paw Brewery, otherwise we ate at the house. Fred Meyer grocery is .5 miles from the house - bring your own bags or you will need to pay for bags. My only recommendation for the host - if a large group needs to use the bed in the sitting area downstairs that perhaps a folding screen be available

Best VRBO Yet!
This has been by far the best VRBO we have rented to date! Jan, the property owner, was communicative from day one and I never worried about our reservation or the check-in process. She provided us with a list of things to do while we were in Anchorage, which was very helpful in planning the trip. The house was perfectly laid out to accommodate all nine of us, including our 16 month granddaughter. The kitchen was well stocked with pots, pans, and anything else we needed to cook our meals. The neighborhood is nice and conveniently located near everything we needed or went to visit. This will definitely be a “book again” property if we ever get back to Anchorage!

Alaska Adventure
Jan was a fantastic host! Communication was timely and prompt. She was very helpful with ideas of things we could do. She was flexible with our check in and check out times. Her home was perfect for our family. We had fourteen in our party, including two young children, and the home had everything we needed. It was clean, comfortable, and it became our home away from home. It was a very convenient location for the adventures we had planned. Thank you!

Great place to stay in Anchorage
For a group of 11 of varying ages this house is perfect easy access to grocery stores. There was more than available bed space for the whole family. There was easy access by car to anywhere in Alaska. The neighborhood was safe. We odor and her family were very involved and available when necessary. I thought that the downtown area was within walking distance, but it was not. Overall a great place to stay.

Fantastic
This house was perfect for our vacation. There were ten of us and we had plenty of room with not only bedrooms on both levels (with tv's) but also having dishwasher, fridge, washer and dryer on both levels too. It was like renting 2 homes rolled into 1. Supplied with just about everything you could ask for. The only thing we went out to buy was "Kleenex"!!!

A real gem
This place is beautifully finished and has everything you need. The location is terrific, within easy walking distance of restaurants and a grocery store. The owner was extremely helpful and even dropped off some halibut for us to eat after a fishing trip. If you are looking for place to stay for a large family or group, look no further. We had eleven in our group and were quite comfortable.

Spacious and clean
We rented this to use as overflow lodging during a family reunion, and it fit our needs perfectly, with 5 beds, 3 baths, 2 laundry facilities and a large basement area where the teenagers could hang out. It was clean and well-appointed. Highly recommend.

Great Property!
My family and I had a great time in this beautiful property! The house was clean, roomy (plenty of room for my family of 8), and in a great location. We could get everywhere we needed to within Anchorage and in the surrounding areas easily. The kitchen was well stocked with everything we needed to make home cooked meals and the dark curtains in the bedrooms made it easy to sleep with the midnight sun.
The owner was easy to communicate with and was responsive to all of our questions. Would definitely recommend this place!
