My husband, I and another couple spent 3 nights at the American Classic beach house. Great location with a stunning view. Kitchen has everything you need to prepare meals. Loved sitting out on the deck listening to the ocean and watching the waves. Coming from Wyoming that was quite a treat. Beds were a little broke down but we were so tired by the end of each day we all slept well. Shower has great water pressure and lots of hot water. Would definitely come stay again. House was cozy and homey.

We loved this house! It has the charm of an older home and is perfectly maintained. The beds were very comfortable, including the sofa bed. The decor was perfect for a beach house, with lots of shells. The view of the ocean from the living room and deck were great, and access to Nye beach was easy.
We also appreciated the cleaning supplies and extra spices in the pantry. We had everything we needed!

We have stayed at the American Classic a number of times. The location is in our favorite part of Newport with a beautiful view of the ocean and within walking distance to a good selection of shops and restaurants. Since we've discovered this wonderful home we couldn't imagine staying anywhere else. It checks all of the boxes of the things we are looking for at the coast. Thanks to Jim and Lana for prompt communication when needed. They have been great hosts over the years!

Spent 3 weeks here and loved every minute of it. Spacious and loved the huge windows with the awesome view of the pacific. Morning coffee inside sitting in the chair glider was heaven. Beds have one firm one soft and one really soft. I picked the daybed downstairs and it was comfy but had a lot of light at night. Kitchen was decently stocked. We cooked at least one meal a day. Older home with a lot of charm. Walking distance to all shops, restaurants, performing arts center and visual arts center. We only needed a car for grocery store or sight seeing. Parking was never a problem. Quiet neighborhood. Walked my little dogs every morning and evening with no worries. Bathroom lighting isn't the greatest but wasn't a big deal. Great hot water in the showers! I enjoyed the three week stay and would stay again!

Wonderful beach home with amazing views! We loved that this was in walking distance to cute shops, coffeehouse and restaurants. The beach is easy to get to (about a 5 minute walk) and so enjoyable to take a stroll out on the sand every evening at sunset.
House was nicely stocked with everything we could ever need. Check in was easy and the owners responded quickly when we had a couple of questions.
(The stairs to the second level are a bit narrow. My Mom wasn't comfortable using them, so she just slept in the bed on the ground floor. It wasn't a problem for us, but just something to keep in mind if someone has mobility issues.)
We loved our stay here, and hope to come back again soon!

Very nice place to stay. A true Classic. The stairs to the bedrooms are very steep so if somebody has difficulty climbing stairs just be aware.

We had a glorious view of the ocean, and we were in our favorite place in Newport. Plenty of everything you need so you don't have to go out--games, movies, kitchen and bath supplies.

My friends and I love to visit Newport in April to take classes at the Paper and Book Art Festival.
The weather in Newport has almost always been great for our stay, and we have rented various places over the past seven years.
When I spied American Classic on Vrbo, every box was checked for me. (It's difficult to pick something everyone will like.) However, when we entered the living room and saw the ocean view through the very large windows, my reputation for picking vacation homes was secured. Everyone was happy. Great kitchen with everything we needed, a dining table with plenty of room for everyone, nice bathrooms with plenty of towels, etc.
This house isn't brand new, but has tons of character and a couple of squeaky floors, etc. We loved it!
Only caveat: If anyone is allergic to pet dander, they might rethink this place since other renters are allowed to bring their animals. Only one person in our group was affected.
Great communication with the host, too! Thanks for sharing this spot.

We do an annual beach vacation.. this year was Newport.. The aquarium was fun..the beach a blast..the view from our rental spectacular! My 6 year old granddaughter loved the parasailer that past by the window 3 or 4 times. Also learning about the big and little dipper that were visible on our first night.

“Classic” is an excellent description of this beach home. This is an extremely cozy beach home, with an incredible ocean view. Nye beach is a fun, retro neighborhood with lots of great dinning within a few minutes of walking. We would definitely stay here again. The only down side would be for people who have difficulty with stairs since all the bedrooms are on the second floor. Although there is a sofa bed downstairs in the front room.

Very nice well-stocked house right in the heart of the NYE beach neighborhood.
The beach, restaurants, and stores are all within walking distance.
Loved drinking coffee and sitting in the rocking chairs while looking at the ocean.

This home is a classic, just as it says. It's an older home with its quirks, but was great for our family getaway. The high winds shook the house a little, but added to the charm of the home in my book. The location is amazing, and this time of the year parking is not an issue at all. Be mindful of safety on the beach. This was the highest high tide I have ever seen.

This home felt like I was staying at a friends house. It was in a superb location and an easy walk to the beach, restaurants and shops. It had a beautiful ocean view. The rooms were quite small but we spent all of our time in the open concept living/dinning/kitchen area. It was the perfect place for us to gather for an early family Christmas celebration. Definitely a great place for a reasonable price!

This is our second stay here. The house is spacious and clean with an amazing ocean view through a panoramic window and via a wide balcony. Just steps from the ocean and the charming town of Nye Beach.

My wife and I have been coming to the Oregon Coast every September for about two decades. We’ve stayed in multiple places from Newport to Neskowin. No place we have stayed has come close to the awesomeness of the American Classic. We chose this place because it was pet friendly (we have a small dog) and had an ocean view. We had no idea just how great that view would be. You can sit in front of the huge picture window and watch whales, or (weather permitting) you can sit out on the nice deck and enjoy the sea air. The deck is dog-secure so your dog can go out there unleashed.
Everything about this place is designed for comfort and convenience. There is an abundance of both towels and toilet paper so you will never run out. The washer and dryer are huge so you can do whatever laundry you need while you are there. Same goes for the dishwasher.
The house is meticulously decorated, from the art-deco bowls in the kitchen cabinets to the matching art-deco electrical outlets in the living room. The bedrooms are even themed. There is the American sailor room, the Hawaii room, and the Turtle room. Beautiful! This is a family-owned house and it’s clear that the owners have spent a lot of time here. Pride of ownership is everywhere.
The owners are very responsive to any questions that you might have. We had a question when we first pulled into Newport. I sent them a message via my vrbo account and they responded within a couple minutes.
We will be back!

Home was very comfortable and had all the items necessary for an enjoyable time. Fantastic view of the ocean from the outside deck and from large windows inside with big comfy chairs facing the water. Within blocks of the beach and numerous interesting shops and restaurants. This was our second visit.

We loved the view from the deck and through the enormous beach facing windows.
I nice big dining table with room for everyone.
A well appointed kitchen
Being an older house built before current code requirements, the stairs to the upstairs bedrooms are steeper than normal but carpeted so the footing is secure.
We enjoyed our stay here.

Great location. Beautiful view. Saw lots of whale spouts
Great heat, great shower pressure, great shower temp (some things that STRs sometimes lack)

The location was excellent!! Rocking chair with a view of the beach in the morning and sunset, was priceless. Decor was very beachy, Nice appliances. The beds are awful, I flipped one mattress over because the fabric was splitting. They all need replaced! The TVs are super old as well. The kitchen countertops are old bowling alley lanes and the finish is so deteriorated it peels off and can’t be kept clean. Pots and pans were new but dinnerware needs replaced. The house is definitely in line for a deep clean overall, including the carpet. The seating in the living room is literally falling apart. Be cautious of the stairs…from personal experience, they are very steep!! The deck boards are loose and rotting. The big rock flower bed in front of this house is pretty, but is just full of weeds. Maybe hire the lady who keeps the next door B&B’s flower beds so pretty! I talked to the owner and he said the house was going to be updated in the fall. But that doesn’t really help the month we stayed.

Excellent location. Close to beach, restaurants & shops. House was clean and had all the necessities, including some extras, like beach chairs. My only issue is parking. It’s nearly impossible to get a parking spot close to the house. But would stay again!

As soon as we walked in the home, we were all shocked by the fantastic view of the Pacific ocean, and the beach right in front of us. The location was right in the middle of restaurants shops all within walking distance of us. We parked the car and never had to drive all the time we were there.

We had our first family vacation with our adult children in many years. This was the perfect spot! Beautiful beach views, fully stocked house, short walk to the beach! It was truly perfect for us!

Good kitchen, and the three beds reminded me of the story of goldilocks and the three bears. One firm, one medium, and one really soft.
The kitchen was well appointed and the refrigerators decent.
Our only major challenge, was a cursory search I did not spot where the thermostat was. But I didn't look to hard.
We would definitely stay hear again, and are considering a winter stay.
Overall, the price was decent, and when split among couples, very affordable.
Their is one Italian restaurant in town (Sorella) , run by a fairly famous chef, and with VERY reasonable prices.
Nana's Irish pub just a block away and their savory pies are delicious.
Next door to the the home is the Sylvia Beach hotel, with author themed rooms and I suggest checking with the owner/manager about their dinner options to see if you could get reservations. Excellent food and atmosphere.
Have fun. We did.

This house has an amazing location right in Nye Beach. Easy beach access and the house has a beautiful view of the ocean. It was a big plus that it was a quick walk to shops and restaurants. There is no dedicated parking but aside from the first night we got in, we were able to park on the street right in front of the house with no problems. House was clean, well equipped and very comfortable. I'm so glad we found this little gem!

Wonderful two story house in the heart of Nye Beach. We enjoyed parking the car and walking everywhere for the weekend. And the ocean views and sunsets from the rocking chairs can’t be beat.

Was easy peezy using Vrbo. Found what we wanted in Newport. OR and went for it. Loved the west facing view. Close to shopping and dining in Nye Beach. Very walkable with access to the beach in both directions. Fish Tails down by the Aquarium was a great little place. Walked it enought to eat there 4 times.
House was large enough for a big family. Big dining room table to play games on. Was a great place to stay for a 40th anniversery@

This house is the perfect location for staying at the beach. It has a direct view of the beautiful ocean and the fantastic sunsets that can be seen and photographed there. Easy walk to shops and restaurants as well as the beach! The wash rags need to be replaced; very torn and shredded! Overall, this place is very comfortable and well equipped.

Exactly what was advertised. Renters were nice, location was excellent.
3.0 / 5.0
We are long time renters so we're either knowledgeable about rentals or picky. Went mid-week for a work/play trip.
Pro's:
-Incredible location in the heart of Nye Beach.
-Beautiful view with nice windows and great deck.
-Decor is nice and home has a good overall feel.
-Communications were good, although we didn't have need to connect much. Owners/managers reached out to welcome us.
-Overall the place was clean.
-Parking was easy
-Easy access to the beach and local restaurants.
Cons:
-Beds are old and very uncomfortable. Like old hard mattresses. We used the ocean facing bedroom and had to put a comforter under us to give some cushioning. First nights sleep was awful and the worst I've experienced in a rental, especially for one charging a higher rate (not complaining about the rate in general). All beds seemed this way but we only slept in one. This is our major complaint and all of the rest of the cons were more irritations added not something I would regularly be concerned about to remark.
-Upstairs back rooms (2) were cold. There were electric blankets available and one electric heater.
-Both bathrooms did not have fans, air freshener, or windows that could open.
-Front room/parlor had a wicker sofa with no cushion so unusable. the day bed in this area was super wobbly and you could see where the screws were very lose. Scared to use it.
-Wi-fi was very unstable and made it challenging for us to do work. Signal cycled from excellent to nothing regularly. Mostly an issue for video calls.
-While the kitchen was cool looking, there were many pots but only a few cheap aluminum pans. No plastic wrap or foil. Food staples (oils, etc.) were stored in the pantry next to cleaning supplies. Salt and pepper shakers were sticky.
-Departure cleaning included starting laundry, running dishwasher, taking out garbage, all while doing straightening, (these were in the guidelines) and paying for cleaning.
-Still have 10:00 AM check-out for COVID reasons, seems outdated considering the cleaning they are asking.
-Not a big deal but there was another unit below us that we were not aware of and I don't believe was mentioned in the listing. Didn't have any issues with them, just would have been nice to know ahead of time.
-Deck looks directly into the neighbors close and kinda junky house
Overall, I would go back if the beds were updated and I wouldn't say don't go. Don't think the nightly rate and other charges are fair considering all of the issues combined.

This was the first get away our group had post pandemic and our stay was great. The house was cozy but large enough for us to each have a bedroom. The kitchen was well stocked with pots, pans, dishes and glasses and some cooking supplies. It was one of the cleanest rentals I’ve stayed in with easy check in and good communication with the owners. It was a comfortable and beautiful place to watch the ocean on a blustery, rainy day.
Thanks for the wonderful stay.

While we would have liked to enjoy Nye Beach and the shops, the weather did not permit us to venture out. However, we enjoyed the changing tides, clouds, driving rain, grapple, snow and even a rainbow thru the large picture window. The home was very clean and had a great beachy vibe. We appreciated the new appliances.
A couple things would have made it better.,,
The kitchen cabinets are in need of some TLC and two of the upstairs bedrooms were very chilly.

Perfect place for our family to stay. Comfortable, not fancy, and exactly what we were hoping for. Great view of the ocean, easy to walk to everything. Highly recommend.
