About this cabin rental
Split Rock Log Cabin is a beautifully built handcrafted log home perfectly located for your North Shore vacation. A peaceful and calming escape from a busy life, it is a wonderful place to disconnect where you can relax all day or a great place to come home to after a day of exploring the hiking trails, parks, and Lake Superior beaches. Sit on the deck and enjoy the view of the lake while listening to the wind in the large white pines surrounding the cabin.
Take a break under the tall pines in the provided hammock or build a fire in the outdoor fire ring. Watch wildlife and listen to the birdsong in the morning. The interior of the cabin is welcoming and spacious and truly is relaxing just to walk into. Enjoy cooking in the large kitchen; relaxing in a recliner or rocking chair in front of the fire; sit on the balcony reading a book; play games, cards, watch a movie, enjoy a game of air hockey or foosball; or just have a drink or grill a meal on the deck while enjoying nature and the view. Each season brings a different appeal to the cabin.
It is located just outside the quaint town of Beaver Bay, which has various restaurants and a few shops to explore. The paved Gitchi-Gami trail, which has several segments along the shore, is just across the road at the end of the driveway. Bike rental is available at Cove Point Crossing about 1/2 mile from the cabin. Bike the trail to Split Rock Lighthouse or Gooseberry Falls. Mountain bike (or hike) the new Split Rock Wilds trail right from the cabin or park closer at the nearby trailhead. Hike to Cove Point to get a drink or a pizza. Split Rock Lighthouse State Park is a 5 minute drive and Gooseberry Falls is a 15 minute drive away, Palisade Head and Tettegouche State Park only 20 minutes. All of these parks offer great hiking and sightseeing opportunites with waterfalls, lighthouse, and lake views. The Superior HIking Trail, which spans the whole North Shore, is accessible within 1/2 mile of the cabin.
The attractive town of Two Harbors is only 1/2 hour away and has many shops, restaurants, and a lighthouse to explore. Lutsen Mountain near Tofte offers breathtaking views while downhill skiing. Speed down the mountain on the Alpine Slides or take the relaxing Gondola ride up to the top of the Sawtooth range to have a lunch with a sweeping view of Lake Superior. Grand Marais and Ely are about an hour away and have many shops and seasonal festivals and activities. Check out the North House Folk School for year round classes.
In winter some of the best snowshoeing and skiing abound just down the road. Tettegouche has maintained cross country ski trails. All ungroomed trails are great for snowshoeing and the rivers are beautiful in the winter!
There is a snowmobile trail that starts near the cabin and joins up with the north shore trail system.

We did a weekend stay at the cabin for my father's 87 birthday. My dad loved the cabin as we all did - truly a solid log home but spacious. He claimed the recliner and was set for a relaxing weekend. The kitchen was set up with everything a person could need. The cabin decor with the large pine dinning room table was game central for the weekend. We had a great stay!

Property was great and well maintained. Centrally located on the North Shore. Worked great for our daily excursions to the many hikes, waterfalls, and Grand Marais. Our 3 kids (ages 5-8) loved it! We will absolutely recommend.

We really enjoyed the spacious yet cozy energy of this log cabin, and how well appointed the entire layout is. Our 2 teens had their own private spaces up in the loft. Plus - the photos online do not do the view justice! I was pleasantly surprised by how fantastic the view actually was from this location. There are close neighboring cabins in this spot, but it was a non-issue for a winter-trip. The full size games in the basement level were an added bonus! Absolutely loved the wood stove. We had a relaxing and adventurous time along the North Shore, and this was a wonderful home-base for hanging out and cozying up!

The cabin itself is breathtaking. Especially once you find the book documenting its construction.
One of the things I particularly enjoyed was no internet. We just played board games and experienced the surroundings instead of having our noses buried in our phones!
Great time, great view, not far from anything touristy to do, I love to stay here again.

Our family (with a teenager and 20 year old) stayed here for a long weekend to just get away from our everyday stress and this was a perfect place! It was clean, comfortable and welcoming. The scenery was beautiful and we found lots to see in the area. It was well stocked and communication with the owners was easy. Highly recommended!

Walking in after a 12 hour drive, we dropped our bags in awe. The pictures here don’t do justice. It must be experienced in person. Sarah and Marc have done an exceptional job with the place. First, the location is breathtaking. Immerse yourself in beautiful solitude while everything you could ever need is provided. There’s no Wi-Fi and limited cell reception, but if that’s what you’re looking for, why are you here?
The cabin with its massive logs and spacious rooms, loft, ideal kitchen space, big windows, and well chosen decor is absolutely perfect.
We found it to be clean and well cared for. Communication is great. Would definitely stay again!

The cabin was beautiful and so very well stocked with supplies. The owners were good about answering questions quickly and the view of the lake was wonderful. It was a great location for enjoying so many of the beautiful state parks along the North Shore. Our two grandsons also had great fun with the game table in the basement. Also a great fire pit with benches outside.

Absolutely stunning log home! Picture’s actually don’t do it justice. It’s even better in real life, perfect place for our family. Will be returning yearly if possible. My husband was in love the place. Very clean, cozy, and had everything you need to be at home.

We try and do the North Shore every year, and this year we decided to stay in a private home, rather than a resort.
The home was comfortable to absolutely gorgeous. Sarah was super easy to work with, and we will definitely add this listing to our favorites.

This cabin provided everything we were looking for for a winter getaway. From the kindling and logs stacked next to the stove, to Sarah going WAY out of her way to ensure the driveway was salted prior to our arrival, this was an ideal getaway. We will absolutely be back.

When we walked in the front door we immediately felt the warmth of home away from home. Very inviting, all our expectations of a log vacation home we’re met. The home was meticulous the view spectacular. The wood burning stove was our greatest enjoyment after coming home from the days activity’s. We are already planning 2023 vacation to this log cabin.
