About this house rental

Due to the setting it's best:
-for only 1 or 2 people-sorry NOT for visitors, unless discussed
-corporate stay in the Lexington area .
-Sorry, but there is NO PLACE to DOCK a BOAT or PARK A TRAILER.
- If you are renting a boat for a day, then check with the owners about a temporary dock
.-snowbirds in transit or scoping the area

This is a perfect place for a quiet get-a-away for 2 or wonderful alternative to a required hotel stay. The cottage was built totally by hand, by the owner, with trees cut from the property. It is designed for adults and there is nowhere for kids to play.
-No fire pit or place to burn

TWO KAYAKS are available to enjoy our large cove or to explore Shull Island.

Accommodations: Den and kitchen with island on one floor. Downstairs 600 sq. ft. with a queen bed and sitting area. Sleeps 2- one queen bed downstairs.

Three large windows overlooking the lake. We have all new appliances, including granite counter tops and 2 HD TVs with Dish Satellite.

There is a deck off the lower level for enjoying the lake view and for kayak or swimming access.

Off Season, 2 nights available if less than a month away from arrival.

If you stay a week and could leave the lake, it's two hours from Charleston, SC. Downtown Columbia is 35/40 minutes away and the zoo (30 minutes) State Museum and children's museum are well worth the visit. Restaurants and many shopping choices are in Lexington which is an 18 minute drive. Many restaurants and grocery stores are an easy 10/15 minute drive from the guest house. Most renters prefer to shop prior to arrival.

Our stay was nice until the host sent us a message wondering why the blinds were closed all the time. Apparently she wanted to he able to see what we were doing. However she did say that she saw a little bit - not sure what tho. After that message we packed up and left because we did not feel safe. I mean how would she expect us to feel? She didn’t understand how that actually sounded. Of course she will not refund any of our stay. I will definitely not book this property again and will never recommend it to anyone.

The cottage had everything we needed. The cottage and area are beautiful, safe and well-kept. We kayaked, walked, ran, and fished, saw turtles, an armadillo, deer, lizards bunnies, squirrels birds and had morning and evening visits from a hummingbird. The decor of world travel photos will have you planning your next vacation. My husband is already considering his next trip to this lake cottage. Host responded quickly to my questions. The cottage is tucked in a cove and very private.

What a great little cottage in a cove on lake murray! Clean, modern, well decorated and has everything. Kayaks are a great way to explore. Andy and Ellen are wonderful hosts and on site. Private and quiet but tons of things to do all within 20 minutes. I have stayed here several times and highly recommend!

Perfect retreat for me and my adult son. The separation of levels allowed both of us privacy, yet still together enjoying our week. Bed was comfy! Son said pull out couch was just like a normal bed. The location was ideal between Lexington, Gilbert and Batesburg-Leesville. Thanks Ellen and Andy for sharing your vacation retreat!

We needed to find a quiet place to stay on the water, and this beautiful cottage was the perfect fit. We were able to watch the wildlife from the deck along with the awesome view. Everything about our stay was exactly what we needed. The host was extremely accommodating as well!

there 3 nights to visit friends and go to the Florida Gators and SC Gamecocks football game. Had a great time and enjoyed all our friends. Game was super. We won! The cottage was wonderful. On the lake, country setting,very peaceful. The accommodations were perfect. Walk out the bedroom to a deck on lake. Just excellent place to stay. Hosts were super nice people.

My wife and I wanted a relaxing vacation for our 10th anniversary. Ellen's cottage checked all the boxes! The property was so beautiful and peaceful! Ellen was an outstanding host. She answered any questions we had instantly. The view of the lake and some of the wildlife in the area were a pleasure to view. The cottage was absolutely perfect for the two of us. The home and owners couldn't have been better! Ellen and Andy are super sweet and attentive. The house is situated on a lovely tree lined cove surrounded by an exquisite garden and a view of the big water of Lake Murray. This cottage is a gem! It is wonderful with a beautiful lake view. As pictured, and probably more room than shown. Very clean, comfortable bed, and Ellen has thought of your every need. Ellen and Andy are wonderful hosts, very easy to communicate and work with and very responsive. Can't say enough about this property, absolutely loved our stay!! I just wish the weather had been better to go kayaking - will have to come back for that. Only 1 hr from Augusta Natl.

We came to Lexington for a needed break from our busy lives in south Florida. This property is located on a beautiful spot on the lake. The main views from the living area look over the lake. It was just what we needed. Communication with Ellen was great. She and Andy made sure we were all set. We had a great time exploring the area and just getting away from it all. Highly recommend this rental for couples!

The home is beautiful and clean. There was plenty of space for my husband and I to spread out. He had some work to do while we were there and I never felt in his way. The couple who own the home are lovely. We didn’t meet them until we were leaving but we wish we had met them sooner. The location is close to restaurants and on a beautiful piece of land. Unfortunately the weather was a bit chilly when we were there so we didn’t get to enjoy the water at all. Next time we can enjoy the beautiful lake. I would definitely recommend this property.

Perfect getaway for two. Very nice cottage. Super comfortable bed. Very clean. Well equipped. The stairs were tough on us due to some mobility issues. Perfect otherwise. Owners next door on same property but were noninvasive and very welcoming. Peaceful and comfortable. We cannot wait to come back.

Sometimes when we've rented through VRBO we've found a great house, and other times a great view/setting... in this case, we got it all! We absolutely love the way this house is situated in a beautiful natural habitat. The view of the lake is superb, and the amenities are all top notch. It is, by far, the most comfortable, relaxing, rental we've ever had. We were in South Carolina for the university's Family Weekend. After all of the activities it provided us with a retreat that allowed for morning coffee and reflection. It really was perfect, and the hosts made us feel welcome. We will definitely utilize this rental in the future.
