About this house rental
(When you click on the photos in this listing, captions/descriptions will appear. Voila! Know, too, that there is a nightly discount for stays of four nights or longer. Just ask!)
This spacious urban dwelling is steeped in history, as is our charming and entirely f-l-a-t + walkable neighborhood. The home dates to the 1860s when it was likely built to house craftsmen involved in the building of the architecturally significant Roebling Suspension Bridge, the prototype for The Brooklyn Bridge. It is thought that John Roebling himself might have designed this property.
In 2007: top-to-bottom, wall-to-wall renovations resulted in '2008 River Cities Preservation' and '2008 Friends of Covington Beautification' awards. A three story 'flying' staircase, scale, contemporary upgrades and location yield both character and comfort. Here, history and modernity are not to be confused with rigidity: put your feet up and bring your dog! There's a decidedly down-home feel with an up-town vibe.
Truly a handsome and affordably priced alternative for Greater Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky business travellers -- or -- for regionally-inclined tourists and vacationing families. Ideally suited for small-scale meetings and entertaining, too.
Bounded to the north by the Ohio River, Cincinnati is a quick two blocks and a bridge (yes: that one!) away, as are Great American Ball Park, Paul Brown Stadium, US Bank Arena -- and -- Queen City culture, entertainment, retail and cuisine. Fine and home-style dining, indie coffee houses (2 + a Starbucks), shopping and multiple entertainment options are also available just outside the door. Lexington and Louisville are each roughly (and Bluegrass scenic) 90 minutes away.
While most everything is within walking distance, two dedicated, off-street parking spaces are provided. As well, a "Red Bike" station -- and -- a retro-fitted trolley* stop (*that traverses Covington and Newport KY, and Cincinnati) are a block away. For full immersion in Kentucky's fabled horsiness, a livery across the street operates horse-drawn carriages most weekends and some week nights, using much the same routes.
Or, stay home and make good use of the roof deck with its panoramic views of the Cincinnati skyline and surrounding hillsides, the sunset-spilled den, and/or the jetted tub.

We stayed here to attend 3 games at GABP. It was a great experience. Owner, Lisa was very accommodating, It was about a mile walk to the stadium. You can also take a bus or trolley within two blocks of the stadium. If we come back will stay there again!

I was returning home for a family event and I wanted to be centrally located. The host, Lisa, couldn’t have been nicer and even went the extra mile to have items there for us to eat and drink. The house has alot of character and the location is perfect.

The location was fantastic. We had an easy walk to the aquarium and to the Reds game. The home was very comfortable and the owner's attention to detail made us feel very welcome. We had a terrific weekend stay.

Lisa demonstrated wonderful hospitality before, during, and after our stay. Covington offers easy access to downtown Cincinnati as advertised but the neighborhood is worth staying local. So many great places for coffee and dining! Thanks for a terrific weekend, Lisa.

Our group of 4 adults (40+) were headed to Covington for a fun weekend of food and eclipse festivities. Our hostess was kind and really went out of her way to make us feel at home and enjoy our eclipse experience.
The house was a in a great walkable neighborhood, and it was also very easy to access the highway to get into Newport, Cincinnati and other areas. While we were already familiar with the area, our host offered lists of places to see, dine and much more. The house offered everything we needed for a great weekend.
We will absolutely look for this property again next time we are in the area.

Lisa was absolutely awesome, we spoke before our arrival which helped both ends feel more comfortable with the stay. We would absolutely stay there again without a doubt.

We stayed at Lisa's "Kentucky Gem" over Thanksgiving. The property was well equipped with all the items, amenities, and sundries we needed. Our attentive and gracious hostess greeted us with Graeter's ice cream, coffee pods, and some other fun snacks. The location, itself, was perfect. It is located in an older part of Covington, very close to the river and walkable into riverfront Cincinnati. We would very definitely return here for our next Cincinnati visit!

Very much enjoyed our stay. Location for professional sports and nightlife in Covington was awesome. No need to drive anywhere.

Just what we needed, a place in historical Covington within walking distance of Cincinnati. Great night time viewing from the roof. Plenty of restaurants and the library was just around the corner. We really got the flavor of Old Covington. Lisa (the owner) was extremely helpful. I am planning to come back in 4 or 5 years and will be staying here.

Location was awesome! Walking distance to food & bars. Good farmers market daily! We were in town for a wedding in Cincy and the place was great! Totally enjoyed the rooftop deck- great place to unwind and enjoy the views (and fireworks from Reds game). Quick walk over the bridge to downtown Cincinnati for coffee, breakfast and sightseeing along the River.
Lisa was awesome to work with and we truly had a great stay!!!

We were visiting the area (my hometown) for a week with three generations and Kentucky's Gem was perfect for us! It's a beautiful historic property in an amazing location -- easy walk to a ton of fabulous restaurants, plus you can walk over to the Banks and the Great American Ballpark in 15 minutes. Also super close to Newport, the zoo and the Cincinnati Museum Center. Our host, Lisa, was fabulous-- she made check in a breeze and was available via text for any questions we had. She also stocked the kitchen with breakfast goodies and Graeter's ice cream for us before we arrived. There are also a TON of paper and cleaning products so you really don't have to worry about bringing anything with you. The house is really charming and was a perfect place to relax during our "down" time. Everyone had plenty of room and privacy (our kids especially loved having their own floor to themselves). It was also nice for our family and friends who live in the area to come over and visit- the house is set up perfectly for folks to stop by and catch up. The off-street parking is a huge plus in that area (although on-street parking was also no problem). Staying here really made our week back "home" extra special. We will definitely stay here again!

This well-kept three-story walkup had everything we needed and was incredibly convenient to downtown Cincinnati simply by walking over the Roebling Bridge. Lisa is a very communicative and generous host who went above and beyond to make us feel welcome. Ideal for getting a feel for the rejuvenating southern side of the river while staying close to downtown Cincinnati. We hope to return before long!!

Would book again! Home is clean and modernized with a ton of charm. Host prioritized making it a comfortable stay. The neighborhood has great options for food and drink. You can easily walk across the bridge into Cincinnati.

Beautiful house, in the middle of a revamped Covington riverfront neighborhood. House was huge and exactly as described. Easily walkable to Cincinnati banks area, as well as Covington attractions. Host was awesome and made sure we were well taken care of. Would definitely stay again!

We came from out of state for a family wedding. Lisa was very welcoming, quick to respond to our texts while we were there and such a delight. Her place is absolutley beautiful and was a wonderful home away from home for the weekend. It is well stocked, plush towels, beds are comfortable and the neighborhood is just darling. All I can say is do not pass this place down if you are coming to Covington. We had a family of 6 stay here and between the wedding and reception we comfortably hosted 8 adults. Thanks Lisa!!! You are an amazing host!!

I stayed here with my husband and 2 year old daughter, and we invited my in-laws to join us as well. There was plenty of room for the five of us, and we had the best time. The location is fantastic for walking to restaurants or even over to Cincinnati. We went across the river and took my daughter to a really nice carousel and had lunch at the Yard House.
The owner is the nicest person ever. She left us some bagels, cream cheese, coffee, snacks, and water. There were games and we used the TVs to watch a football game. The upstairs bathroom had a stool my daughter used, and overall we were really comfortable. If we ever find ourselves in the area again we will be back.

Our host was very accommodating and even had coffee, creamer, snacks, and ice cream for us we we arrived. The townhome had a beautiful staircase that lead up 2 more stories. Be prepared for that if you stay as the bedrooms are all upstairs. Cincinnati is just over the bridge and there is a drug store with groceries a couple of blocks away. All in all we had a very pleasant stay and would definitely stay again if we were to visit the area again.

The place was exactly as described and working with Lisa was very enjoyable. The roof top view was amazing, the neighborhood bars and restaurants were within walking distance (2 blocks).

This place is unique with a killer location! Lisa was exceptionally friendly, accommodating, helpful and available.
Unfortunately, there was dust and hair collected behind the faucets in the bathroom, behind doors, in corners. There was dust collected on some walls as well - & even an empty snack wrapper left in one of the dressers. I think Lisa just needs to check to be certain her cleaning crew is doing a better job.

Lisa was such a thoughtful host and we enjoyed our time at Kentucky Gem. The location was ideal. We took an easy and scenic walk to a reds game.
We would definitely visit again!

This rental was everything we could ask for and more. It was very clean, had everything we needed and was within walking distance to all our destinations. Talking to the owner was like talking to family, and I can't wait to make a return trip. Thanks for everything!

This is a great place to stay if you are in town for either baseball or football- easy walk to either stadium. The property suited our needs perfectly! We were all very comfortable and loved the decor of early 20th century! The kitchen was very well equipped and our host, Lisa, provided us with some of the best ice cream we've tasted! Would definitely stay there again.

I chose this VRBO for several reasons and am happy I did. This pet friendly rental had more than enough room for our group of 5 (plus 2 dogs). The pictures do not do it justice... This place was huge!
The host, Lisa, was wonderful and sent lots of useful information prior to check in. I look forward to visiting this Kentucky gem again one day!

We picked this beautiful updated historic home because of its location. We have been visiting different ballparks and knew we could walk to the Reds games. What we got was so much more than we planned. We were met at the curb by the hostess with the keys. Treats including Grater’s Ice Cream were provided. The house is close to so many shops and restaurants that we could not visit them all. We went on the river walk. A trip to the Cincinnati Zoo was just a quick car ride, but we could have used public transportation to get there.
The house had everything we needed. It is just like the pictures. Plenty of room to sit at the dining room table to plan or reflect on the day. If you were looking for something to do, there was a book of things to do plus the paper provided with the restaurants/shops. Puzzles and games are handy. The bathrooms had great towels and the basics. The bedrooms were beautiful and spacious. Plenty of hangers in the closets. The living room was a good place to hangout too. The fireplaces throughout the house make it so charming.
We did not get to enjoy the roof top deck. (If you are there on a night the Reds have fireworks it would be perfect.). The view was beautiful, but our schedule and the weather did not cooperate with each other.
We would highly recommend this home. May you have a great time here also. We plan on coming back- there is so much more to see and do.

Comfortable and convenient location for reunion and visiting with friends and family. Easy access to local restaurants and activities in downtown Cincinnati. Good communication with host Lisa and easy, nothing to do checkout process. Loved the complimentary Graeter’s ice cream and FC Cincy soccer game.

Lisa provided information about local eateries and other things to see and do ahead of time. Check in was easy. She was available for any questions.
