Uncomfortable stay
I have a lot to say in this post, but going to keep it short. Here is the list of concerns we experienced during our stay:
- not kid friendly. Master bedroom is in a loft, which not only provides no privacy, but the railings are spaced out so far that a small child could fall through. We had our four year old twins with us and I was so nervous the entire time. We weren’t even able to shut the door to that room because there is no door on the master room. Big safety hazard.
- both rooms have sliders to tiny balconies. Didn’t come with dowels to block those windows… had to ask front desk to bring some.
- washer/dryer require quarters to use. It costs over $5 a load to wash/dry… and clothes still have weren’t completely clean/dry with small loads. Front desk unable to trade quarters for credit card swipe, so I had to drive to ATM and bring cash back. The units are shared with a few other rooms, so I had to time it properly so I could actually use them.
-all communication is done through Driftwood Inn which is incredibly inconvenient if you need anything, as it is a few streets away.
-place was dirty in many areas. Nothing under any furniture was vacuumed, toilets had pee around flooring, hair in shower and on floors, dishes in cabinets to use were not scrubbed or cleaned adequately, old price tag found in sheets. Place also had a few lightbulbs out, making it feel very dreary. Also, shower drained incredibly slow. Let staff know. Staff sent over housekeeping and they said “we are here to clean up our mess” in a very passive aggressive tone. I refused service as I had already cleaned up majority of the mess.
- there was a needle kit in parking lot for the entire time we were there. I picked it up and brought it to front desk upon checkout so no one would get hurt from it and to also let them know it was sitting there for four days. Their response was “ well some nurses live up there… it probably fell out of one of their pockets.”
- fireplace is off limits. Super annoying when you see it and are looking forward to using it after a day on a boat.
I’m very disappointed in how our stay went here. Would highly NOT recommend staying here.

Could be better
Pros: good location - close to the beach and supermarkets. Size is decent and ok for 4 adults.
Cons: the unit has not been upgraded probably since it was built. The dishes and flatware were mismatched and looked like they were bought from Goodwill. We are a party of 4 staying 4 nights yet there were only 2 dinner knives and 3 cereal bowls, 2 partially used and one new toilet rolls. The kitchen knife was so blunt cutting vegetables was a challenge. There was a dining table but the ceiling light was several feet away - we had to move a standing lamp closer so we could see what we were eating. The bathtub drained very slowly and the toilet frequently continued to run after flushing. A maintenance man was supposed to come by but didn't show up. Overall, it has been a while since I have stayed in a vacation rental rhat had so many negatives.

Great property, excellent service
5 of us stayed at the woodside lodge. the 3-room, 1.5 bath, full kitchen place met all our needs and more.
the daily servicing (beds made, trash removed, etc.) was so inobtrusive i didn't realize it had happened until the 2nd day.
i will definitely stay with them again!
