About this house rental
Welcome! Come up and relax and enjoy our mountain home, we affectionately call "Mrs. Bear”. She has a long private driveway with room to back up (seen in pictures) on a cul-de-sac. She is close to waterfalls, lakes, highest elevation golf course on east coast and much more but you still feel like you are out in the woods with not so close neighbors. Our home is about 45 minutes from Charlottesville, Monticello and UVA. The house is apart of the Wintergreen Resort and is .05 miles from Wintergreen's Mountain Inn lodge and right off Black Rock Circle.
We love having families in the house and we have a lot of woods and flat areas around the whole property. Great for the kids that love running around and like climbing and playing on the rocks and trees.
We allow pets with a $100 nonrefundable one time fee and we ask that you tell us how many and what kind of pet they are when booking.
We do have an age limit and do not allow parties or open fires on the premises.
HOUSE FEATURES:
Driveway: The house has a flat driveway with lots of parking and only has three steps to get inside the house.
Bedrooms: The upstairs has two bedrooms (Rm. 1: has one king bed and a Rm. 2: twin with twin /full bunkbed and a Jack and Jill bathroom. Downstairs and on main floor has a MBR (queen bed) and another full bath.
Dining/Living Room: The dining room and the living room have an open concept and are very spacious with vaulted ceilings and a free standing gas fireplace. New In 2020: cedar log table and chairs. We have a 50 inch T.V. with DVD and blue ray player for sports fans! 2018: barn wood detail along one living room wall and bar.
Kitchen: Large Kitchen (for Wintergreen) with solid wood cabinets and new stainless steel appliances with slate backsplash. We have plenty of supplies in the kitchen- cooking tools, eating utensils and 3 frying pans, a mixer, blender, whisk, large crock pot, and pots and pans for big breakfast meals! Just added: New Hamilton Beach FlexBrew Coffee maker, Single and Full. Bring your K-Cups. Coffee filters for full size are provided
Deck: We have a large deck that is partially screened in. Come on up and relax, drink coffee and watch the deer and sunrise!
Air condition/Heat is central air. It also has a propane fireplace with remote.
Cleaning fee:
Cleaning with Linens and towels provided $150.00
Holiday Weekends have a 3 night min and include Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Friday and Saturday are 2 night min together.

We stayed here for 4 nights late August. House was perfect for our needs. Great location that is easy to get to. Also, had deer visit the back of the house regularly, which was a bonus especially for the kiddos.

The house is comfortable and well located to visit multiple wineries. Back off the road so very quiet. We did have back up in sink, owner answered phone immediately and handled asap - worked out. The cabin is well furnished with plenty of seating. The layout is good with the jack and jill bathrooms. We ate almost every meal on the screened in porch. I recommend reading all the information provided from owner. I appreciate that she is clear about what she does and does not provide. The owner is responsive and we will definitely stay there again.

My family and I absolutely loved this house. The location was perfect for everything that we had planned over spring break. I loved how clean it was. Truthfully, it was probably one of the cleanest VRBO houses that I have stayed in. I will say that the only thing that could have made our week even better, would’ve been to have TVs in the master bedroom and the queen bedroom downstairs. There is a TV in the kids bedroom, but I really think that it would’ve been nice to have one at least in the King bedroom. Maybe just a smart tv that will allow guests to log into Netflix, etc. Other than that, zero complaints and I would 100% book this property again. Thanks for having us!!!

We went there for spring break so we could check out a college for my oldest daughter. It was easy to find and it was more than what we expected. The house was very cozy and spacious, I only didn't like that fact there was only one television in the living room, however everything else was great. Mrs. Angela was available when I needed her and responded within a great time frame.

This was the 5th year in a row coming to Wintergreen for an annual golf trip. First time staying at this property and wasn’t disappointed!!! The property was exactly as advertised . Very comfortable particularly the beds. My kids loved the outside space along with the bunk beds and DVDs. We will absolutely be back!! Great location !

Great location off the Parkway between Natural Bridge and Shenandoah National Park with lots to do in the area. The neighborhood has a general store which was a life saver because we didn’t stop and get groceries thinking we would have another opportunity. We didn’t until the general store so got what we needed for the night and next morning. The home had plenty of space for us and best thing was they allowed for our two dogs. Thanks

We enjoyed another visit to Wintergreen. We have stayed in this house in previous years during our visits to the Resort. We enjoy the location, and the home's open plan. Ms. Bear is cozy, comfortable and conveniently located. Angela was super attentive and cordial. We were happy with everything, except for our timing: March. Unfortunately, the listing says it includes a pool, yet it is only for the summer outdoor pool (which is not specified in the listing). During winter, the only way to use the pool is by spending over $100 per person in the spa. Also, our stay was in early March, right after the resort had closed the winter amenities, and not yet opened spring/summer activities. Therefore, we had to look for adventures outside of the resort.

Short drive to the main village, well stocked house, including kitchen staples, paper products, etc. The house was spacious and perfect for our group, including a toddler that had space to run around! Angela's place was the perfect fit for my wife and me, my late 70's parents, and our dogs with a room to spare. Her home has a rustic cabin feel with a lot of charm, lots of bear decorations (try to find them all!), and plenty of space, making it very comfortable! Angela is easy to communicate with and was super flexible and generous with our group, which made our Christmas stay all the more enjoyable. We would certainly return in the future!

Myself, my husband and our two teenage sons decided to book a trip before Christmas to take our sons snowboarding for the first time. Our first night in this home, there was some sort of a storm, and there were extremely loud chunks of ice falling on the roof the entire night, it was the most horrifying sound we have ever heard. None of us got any sleep. I messaged the owner of the property the next morning to let her know about this as well as realizing the Wintergreen slopes weren’t even open for the season yet which is the whole reason we came and the owner didn’t acknowledge our concern about the noise the night before, and recommended we go to wineries, breweries and antique shops with our two teenage boys as the “solution”. Unfortunately, the home was just surface clean, under every single bed, and behind every single night stand was trash from the previous guests. Absolutely unacceptable. We were never able to get the fireplace started for some reason. I messaged the owner the morning we left to let her know we left an hour and a half early so she could get her cleaning crew over there and to point out some of the concerns we had during our stay, and the owner never responded to my message. Overall, my family and I did not have a good stay at this property. I would not recommend it for others especially if you’re trying to get peace and quiet, it seems like during the winter months when there’s snow and ice the home is very loud with constant pieces of ice chunks falling on the roof.

We had a wonderful Thanksgiving at Wintergreen! There was plenty of space for our family to spread out and relax. Great selection of games and we also enjoyed the challenge of counting all the bears in each room. My husband left a note with our total bear count! Thanks again, Angela, for welcoming us.

Our stay at Angela's cabin was just what we needed! We booked at the last minute due to a change of plans and Angela was extremely helpful and accommodating throughout the whole process. The cabin was clean and spacious. We were very comfortable with four people and a dog but it easily could hold more people. The location is great, with lots of stuff to do nearby. We would love to come back!
