About this house rental
Great for a family vacation or a weekend get-away with friends, the "Cottage at Taughannock" shares a border with Taughannock State Park for extraordinary hiking, boating and swimming. Enjoy the lovely rhododendron garden flowers & birds. Play outdoor yard games & indoor board games. Study or work at desks in several bedrooms. Internet speed is 83 Mbps. Prepare meals & dine in the cottage “garden room” or grill & dine on the adjacent patio. At night, watch the stars, the fireflies, & build a fire in the patio fire pit. Sleep well on comfortable beds.
The cottage is uniquely located next to Taughannock Falls State Park. Yet, it is only 4 miles from shopping in Trumansburg and 10 miles from Ithaca. It is located on the Cayuga Scenic Trail as well as the Cayuga Wine Trail, making it a central location for beauty and touring.
The entire cottage and yard are yours to use and enjoy while renting. The garage contains some outdoor games and the trash cans for you to access, but is not otherwise for guest use.
This is a pet-free property. If you have severe pet allergies, please be advised that the most recent time a cat stayed briefly at the cottage was in February 2023.
During (now more often) hot summer days and nights, the cottage garden room has a tower AC unit to cool down the public spaces. Each bedroom has its own AC window or wall unit.
We are just a phone call away if you have any questions or concerns! Please feel free to contact me. I may message you to check in with you, but will leave the interaction up to your level of comfort.
The cottage is located on Rt. 89 (Taughannock Blvd.) Neighbors are spread out along the road, but the houses are out of sight from the house. The back yard is very private due to hills surrounding the bowl-shaped yard.
You will need your own car. (No public transportation) There is parking for 3-4 cars.

We enjoyed this property, very nice hosts and beautiful landscaping! Great location. The house had a strong odor of mildew or must that our family found off putting. Otherwise, we had a great time!

Had a wonderful weekend with some friends at the home. It's got lots of privacy, a beautiful yard and the home is warm and inviting. ACs in every bedroom ensured it was very cool, even in July! We'll definitely book the place again next time we're headed to Ithaca :)

The property is beautiful and we enjoyed the flower gardens. Very close to the Taughannock SP where did an easy hike to the waterfall. House was comfortable and well-equipped.

So many great outdoor activities in this area. Cottage was so comfortable, hosts are fantastic. Property around the cottage was beautifully landscaped and private. Highly recommend!

Great spot for a group to enjoy the Finger Lakes. Easy access to Taughannock Falls and Ithaca; manageable drive to Seneca and even Keuka. The house was charming, with a well-equipped kitchen, a great dining space for meals together (and card games afterwards), and a cozy living room to enjoy a movie. But the real stars of the show were the patio and the garden, which was truly spectacular with everything in bloom when we visited in early June.

A great property that's a 15 min drive to downtown Ithaca. It gave us a feeling of seclusion along with it being close to everything. The space was clean, well cared for and it had all of the things necessary to host a family gathering/celebration

We had an event at a place in Trumansburg so we decided to find a place close to spend the weekend. The cottage was perfect, owners were very communicative, place was clean and well stocked, and it’s in a very convenient location. Private and relaxing atmosphere, would highly recommend!

The cottage is comfortable. The bedrooms (3) are certainly adequate. The forth bedroom is two very small beds. Perfect for kids. The kitchen is fully equipped.
We had a nice stay.

Our family gathered for a wedding on the lake - and it was magical. The house was perfect with the state park across the street and the beautiful back yard. The kitchen was fully appointed and had all we needed. Bedding was comfortable
Ann has been amazing to communicate with from the very beginning. I don't hesitate at all in saying - book it!

For the most part my family and l enjoyed our stay at the cottage. The house appeared clean but my daughter and son suffered severe allergies from the layer of dust under furniture and behind beds. Bedroom rugs smell old and musty. That said, the kitchen and bathroom were clean. Cottage has great potential, just needs some TLC and a good vacuuming.

We were 1 minute from beach area of lake, easy 9 min drive to center of town, kids had awesome time in yard, various lawn games on site, owner very accommodating with any questions we had. Whenever will go to Ithica area coming back if available.

The Cottage was perfect! From booking to check out, everything we needed while visiting family in Ithaca. Ann and Chad were awesome hosts. We will be back.

Excellent property. Older building but well maintained. Ann was very responsive to our requests. Comfortable beds. Beautiful backyard and kitchen more than adequate. We were there for our daughter’s wedding and the proximity to the venue (2 miles) was a key feature.
Only one negative and that is the property fronts busy Highway 89 with a 55 mph speed limit. Traffic noise was not too bad but the driveway is not easy to see and you’ll get lots of honks from following traffic as you signal and brake for the driveway. Entering the driveway with following traffic is a challenge so slow and signal early. And ignore the honking.

Thanksgiving
We needed a central location for our small family to gather for Thanksgiving. The cottage was the perfect fit, both in terms of location and the amenities available.

Clean and cozy
Just as described on VRBO. This lovely home was clean and cozy and had everything we needed to enjoy the weekend in Ithaca. We were visiting our son and his roommates who are students at Cornell. The fully stocked kitchen and large dining area with picture window was a blessing as it rained ALOT so we stayed in mostly and just enjoyed each other’s company. Would definitely recommend!

Great location
The location was great. It is a quaint house with a farm-house vibe, but a little musty. The dining room is large with a new table and chairs for a large group. We enjoyed the large picture window that looked out to the garden and back lawn. The owners were very good communicators and very attentive. Check in was super easy. The beds were very comfortable and had lots of pillows. The kitchen appliances were very good, but the cupboards and cookware were a little tired. The internet worked great. This is a great house for a pretty large family group.

Back to Ithaca
This was a trip back to Ithaca, haven’t been in a few years. It was great to hike, see campus, Ithaca beer co, visit Thirstyowl and enjoy downtown! The property was exactly what we needed for 2 families. Had plenty of space inside and out enjoyed a BBQ and a night by the fire pit to wrap up the day.

Annual Motorcycle ride with Brothers
This quaint home is located right on the main road along Cayuga Lake just a quarter mile from Taughannock State Park and Waterfalls. Trumansburgh is just around the corner for food and shopping, and despite being on a main road, there is very little traffic at night and easily negotiated during the day.
The outdoor fire pit and patio are super comforable and welcoming.
Accommodations include two bedrooms downstairs with a full bath in the hall, and another bedroom on the second floor. There are also two twin beds on the staircase landing that has a door and privacy shutters. The smaller bathroom is located at the bottom of the stairs in the kitchen.
Our check in code was not programmed into the door lock,, but a quick call to Ann, and she was able to give us the old code.. There r a lot of ants around the kitchen,, but all else was clean and very well maintained...in all honesty, this house is located adjacent to the state park, so a few ants are no surprise.. Neither was the baby bunny who spent his mornings eating grass on the patio.. Overall, it was a pleasant experience.

Wonderful weekend
This house was charming. My family was in town for my son's graduation and we all loved the property. The house was beautiful and quaint. Waking up with coffee and watching the birds and chipmunks in the yard was very relaxing. We were only a short drive to Ithaca and the drive into town was less than 10 minutes. Would absolutely stay here again.

Beautiful Experience
Ann and Chad's home was the perfect Fingerlakes stay! The cottage is spacious, comfortable and beautiful. The backyard was so wonderful for cooking out and playing lawn games. When it got too cold to be outside, the indoor dining space was perfect for hanging out and having a great time. The house was well stocked with plenty of extra blankets, linens and towels and the kitchen had everything we needed. Each room had it's own quaint and comfy vibe and everyone slept peacefully. Ann and Chad were wonderful about communicating and it was comforting knowing I could reach them if we needed them. No complaints about this stay! In fact, we have it bookmarked when we are in the area again! Thanks Ann and Chad!

Fun in the Finger Lakes!
We had a great stay at the cottage. It was clean, comfortable, and well appointed. The back yard has pretty gardens. It is located close to many tourist sites and makes traveling to and from very convenient, but the trucks on the road were a bit loud at times.

Relaxing home base
Everything was as described. The space felt welcoming, both the inside and outside parts. The Wifi is good, the kitchen well supplied, the bedrooms ample. Just one warning: at the this writing, Google maps makes it look like the house is farther from the main road than it is, on a fictitious side street. In fact the bedroom windows all face the road, which is perhaps 30 feet away. Traffic is not heavy, at least during the pandemic, but it is fast and impressively loud. In the summer at least, there are A/C units in the windows, so they are not soundproof at all. I worried this would affect sleep, but mostly it did not.

Family-friendly Cottage across from Lake Cayuga
Charming cottage. Close to Treaman park and convenient drive to Ithaca. Ann and Chad were very accessible and responsive. Our family of 5 (parents plus 3 teenagers) had a very comfortable visit. We enjoyed dining at the outdoor table, sitting in the garden and making s'mores in the fire pit. A few notes: There is no safe walking access to park. While backyard garden very pretty and private, front of house is on a busy road with no sidewalks. Window A/C units in bedrooms help drown out night time car noise. Could use a paint job refresh particularly in the kitchen area. Shades on the picture window would keep main dining room area cool from the afternoon sun (was quite hot a few days during our week.) Master bathroom could also use shower caddy and/or stool for shampoo bottles, etc. And we did see a mouse in the kitchen - fortunately just once. Overall worked well for our family vacation to Lake Cayuga - we had a lovely week.

Fall getaway
We really enjoyed our stay at the cottage. There was plenty of room for all 7 of us to eat, chat and enjoy each other’s company around the wood stove. The back yard was perfect for the kids to run and explore. Thank you Ann & Chad for sharing your cottage with us!

2nd Stay and Twice as Nice!
We spent a lovely girlfriend getaway weekend at the lovely Taughannock Cottage. This was a second stay for most of us and we couldn't have enjoyed ourselves more! The house is extremely clean and comfortable, and conveniently located. We visited Wineries and waterfalls. And wished we had a bit more time to enjoy the lovely yard and patio. Ann is extremely responsive and accommodating. And made sure that we did not have any questions and had everything we needed. We are looking forward to the next trip!

Beautiful and family friendly
Our stay at the cottage was wonderful. We have 3 young children and the owners provided a high chair, PAC n play, and even a baby monitor! Kitchen and bathrooms were all well stocked, and everything was super organized. Rice cooker was a plus!
The garden was beautiful and the windows really maximize the views.
We brought some extra toys and games but there are several available there as well. The only thing I wish was better was the shower water pressure, but that is being really picky.
My kids loved staying in the smaller bedroom on the second floor. Plenty of beds, linens, towels, etc.
The location was very convenient as well.
