We stayed 9 days on Ashbrook Farm. We had such a warm welcome from Maire we felt immediately at home. The farm is really beautyful, everything one need is there. Thank you Maire for everything.

We very much enjoyed our stay - the house is homey and decorated beautifully, the surroundings peaceful with the occasional call of cuckoos in the morning. The kitchen was well stocked with pots, pans, dishes etc. and the beds very comfortable. The back roads to the location were a bit tricky, but our host guided us in. Located about an hour north of Shannon twenty minutes from the Cliffs of Moher, and just a few minutes from Ennistymon (be sure to see the waterfall there,) it was an ideal homebase for our trip.

Aside from lots of rain, the trip was really nice

The house is excellent and in a wonderful area. giving good access to the whole of Clare. Beds very comfortable. Just a few details which disappointed - the shower in the main bedroom was very difficult to control and the cold water tap in the second bedroom did not work at all. The kitchen is poorly equipped - too few food preparation crockery and sharp knives, and one of the plug points does not work. The missing light over the sink needs to be replaced. There were too few towels and tea towels.
It would have been helpful to have better location details in addition to the Eirecode, which does not work on our satnav! I found the property on Google earth, otherwise we might still be looking
In spite of the above we thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

We had a lovely two week stay in this beautiful home just outside of Ennistymon. The home had three bedrooms and four baths which was luxurious for Ireland. A short drive into town was not difficult to get immediate requirements.
Our check in was brief and we did wish that we had written instructions as to how to manage the radiators and the water heater timers. Between our jet lag flying from California and Marie’s gorgeous Irish accent, we seemed to have not listened carefully!
The front room fireplace was perfect to gather around in the evening after our outings and the home’s location…in the country but close to the Burren, Cliffs of Moher, Galway, Tipperary and only three hours drive to Dublin was outstanding. The kitchen fireplace apparently smoked and we we advised not to use it.
Over all, a wonderful stay in a lovely home!

Farmhouse located in very quiet countryside that is nicely located for nearby West Coast attractions. Good place for a family get together.

Silence and Solitude...and a sprained ankle
I chose this home in the country for some silence and solitude and it was perfect. I did do a bit of driving but that is a joy when in the west of Ireland. You can hear the sheep and cows from Mary's house and Ennistymon is just 2 miles away with its quaint bookstores and coffee shops. It was an amazing stay except for the sprained ankle I received on day 3 in the Burren. Mary (the owner) and her friend who lives close by (Mary) were wonderful. When I called inquiring about where to go for an x-ray, both Mary's came to the house with ice, wraps, crutches and a boot! The Mary who lives close by gave up half a day to drive me and wait several hours at nearby Injury clinic. I am VERY GRATEFUL. I lit a fire many evenings although it was June (it cooled off in the evenings) and found the beds very comfortable. I would do it all over again-including the ankle- it was that special!

I’ve stayed in many short term rentals and Maires' place is one of the best. The house is minutes drive to Ennistymon and Lahinch, in a peaceful setting. Comfortable beds are far and few between and this home has 3 very comfortable, oversized beds, which my family really appreciated. It’s a very roomy house with a dedicated office. The home is spotless and fully equipped with everything you might need. We loved being here, cooking meals in the large kitchen and evenings sitting by the open fire. Maire and Mary were very responsive to all our needs and couldn’t have been more welcoming.
I highly recommend to groups or families and will definitely be back.

Can't sing high enough praises. Exactly as advertised, VERY comfortable house and beds. 5-10 minute drive into Ennistymon for groceries, pubs and restaurants. Feels good to stay away from the fray by Cliffs of Moher/ Doolin.
Drive into Ennis totally worth it, great sites and shops without the big city idiocy. Plenty to see and do in the area - we drove up to Cleggan to catch a ferry to Inisbofin. Beautiful remote island that was more interesting and enjoyable than the Aran Isles - definitely take a tour with Billy!
Máire's cottage is a showcase of how comfortable, welcoming and beautiful that Ireland can be😁.

This was the first time my kids and I had been out of the United States. I was fortunate enough to have selected such a wonderful home for us to stay in. The location of the property was secluded and away from the "hustle & bustle" of typical vacation sites. My grandson had an amazing time with the donkeys on site as well as being able to wonder the property and explore. The peace and quiet plus the beautiful scenery was exactly what we all needed. The location of the property is within driving distance to many attractions that we wanted to visit. The home itself was beautiful, clean, and up to date. There was more than enough room for the 7 of us staying there. The property owner & manager were so very kind and helpful. Even to the point of coming into town to get us when we first arrived and ended up lost. I would recommend this property to anyone that would appreciate the beauty it has to offer. Our stay in Ireland was everything we could have dreamed of, due to us having such a wonderful place to call home during our visit.

I stayed at the property with my wife and our two daughters in August and we couldn’t have picked a better place. The home is on a private farm just a tiny bit off the beaten path and mere minutes from the center of Ennistymon or Lahinch. It’s a perfect launching point for anywhere in the area. The property itself is gorgeous. Three donkeys share the property and are friendly and ready for carrots from their fenced in pasture just steps from the front door. The house is incredibly cozy and well appointed and felt exactly what we were looking for in an Irish eacape - a real Irish farmhouse with all the modern amenities. The owner greeted us upon arrival with fireplaces blazing and a bottle of wine. As we drove all around Clare during our stay, we didn’t come across a single location we would rather have stayed. I give this home the highest recommendation on all fronts. My family and I loved it and really hope to return to both Clare and this particular home in the near future!

From the photos and description, we knew something about Ashbrook Farm. However, it far exceeded our expectations. What a delightful stay we had. We were there for about three weeks. The farmhouse itself has been lovingly restored by the owner, Máire. Everything about it reflects her style and taste. We were a short drive from Ennistymon and not far at all from the beach and Lahinch. We used this as a base of operations to explore County Clare. Getting to know that part of Ireland as well as meeting with Máire were all highlights of our trip. We will definitely return!

Maire met us in town the first day to lead us up to the house which was so helpful in our jet lagged condition. We had stunning weather the whole week and donkeys were back after the first few days. ( Moved to different water source as drought going on). We were close to a variety of activities and enjoyed just relaxing at the house too. The rooms in the house are larger that the pictures indicate so that was a pleasant surprise. Highly recommend a stay here in you want to be close to County Clare sites but not in a town setting.

The house was very clean upon arrival, nicely furnished and decorated and had beautiful surrounding views. A few things to note:
- the plumbing is quirky - toilets don't always flush, water pressure in shower not great and water in shower does not always get or stay hot.
- we came back from an outing one day to find some of the electricity not working - after searching all over, found out the circuit breaker box was above the front door in the foyer- something to be aware of in case you need it
- we were sleeping at 11:30 one night when the house alarm went off - blaring a deafening noise. Make sure you are supplied the alarm code to shut it off (we had to contact the owner to get it)
- the donkeys were not there the entire week we were there, so that is not a guarantee
- make sure you are aware that you need to leave 100 euro in an envelope for cleaning upon departure

We returned to Ashbrook Farm again this October for our second trip to Ireland. Once again this beautiful home with its Irish country charm served as a great home base for our adventures around the Emerald Isle. This home is comfortable, beautifully decorated and comes with 2 adorable donkey's and cats to visit with daily. Just a short drive in to town where you will find pubs, tasty restaurants and everything you could need. We were also close to wonderful sights like the Cliffs of Moher, Doolin and much more. If you are planning a trip to Ireland and you are looking for a great rental property, you should definitely put this one at the top of your list!

My family of 5 had a great stay at this farm cottage. It seemed to have impeccable maintenance and was spotless. All the firewood you needed for relaxing was available. Donkeys were cute -- fed them some carrots. My wife told me this was by far the most interesting and beautiful place we have ever stayed in Europe.
It is a bit out of the way, so expect a little driving to get there. But that also means it was quiet and peaceful.
Overall, a wonderful experience. I would recommend for anyone.

We had a relaxing time at Maire's place. It was a wonderful home with a beautiful garden. Very relaxing and the donkeys were a delight to feed. We spent the week visiting the Cliffs, Doolin, Ennis, Liscannor and the Ring of Kerry. It was the perfect place to have a cup of tea and sit around the fire to chat. The home has everything you need to enjoy the west of Ireland...

Charming Irish Country Farm!!
We stayed at Ashbrook Farm in October 2016 for 7 nights. Mary provides a wonderful Irish country experience. Her home is spotlessly clean, warm and inviting. Beautifully decorated and all the necessities provided. Close to everything and logistically the perfect location for daily adventures. We were a group of 4 adults and were very comfortable. We ended our trip with a few days in Dublin. If you are looking for a charming, relaxing authentic Irish experience....Ashbrook Farm is the place.
Thank you Mary, we home to return soon to continue the adventure.

Beautiful home!
I stayed at Ashrook Farm in May 2016 with my husband and son for 5 nights.
This home is beautiful. The photos don't do it justice. The furniture and personal items throughout the home are a wonderful touch. You truly feel like a guest in Mary's home, rather than in a rental space. The grounds and gardens are magnificent. The donkeys are lovable! The bed and linens so comfortable. This home has been restored and renovated beautifully, and it includes everything you need plus a library!
We were able to travel to most of County Clare destinations from this home, including Lahinch, the Burren, Cliffs of Moher, golf, Carrigaholt, Loophead, Bunratty Castle....we dropped off the rental car at Shannon airport which is approx 40 minutes drive. Ennistimon is very charming.
Finally, Mary the owner is such a lovely person. She greeted us with a bottle of wine, and was very welcoming. She is genuine and love the Irish hospitality! Her friend, also Mary, met us in the town to direct us to the farm and made sure to make us feel welcome also.
Thanks so much for sharing your home, Mary! We hope to return again someday soon. We miss Clare!

Fantastic Irish farm house
Our stay last year was wonderful (yes, I'm a bit slow in getting my review up). This was the perfect place to relax and a convenient location to visit so many places in the west of Ireland. My wife, adult daughter, and I spent nearly a week here and enjoyed it immensely. From here, it was an easy drive to the Cliffs of Moher, the Burren (visit the perfumery while there), Bunratty castle, Lahinch, and other sites. Even more than the sites you could visit, the farmhouse and local area was a destination in itself that would bring me back. I enjoyed walking the lane in the morning and meeting the neighbors, feeding carrots to the donkeys, and relaxing by the fire in the evening. It was a quick drive into Ennistymon or Lahinch where you will find several nice restaurants if you don't want to cook. The house was clean, attractive and well furnished. Mary was very good to work with -- even accommodating when we had to switch dates. The cheeky cats will try to sneak into the house with you though, so watch out.

Classy farm out in the country
For just us, a couple in our 60s, Ashbrook Farm was perfectly in the middle of County Clare. Mary met us with a bottle of wine, and we enjoyed the spacious home and very comfy bed, wood and peat fires (in both kitchen and living room), a lovely bath, feeding carrot greens to the two sweet donkeys. It was a great base camp for our daily adventures on the Burren, Moher, megalithic ruins, and music festival in Ennis.Twas a lovely, classy hideaway, would be great for a family. Lots of outdoor lawns etc. to wander in on the property too. Even a little stream and a little lake.

Great Irish Farmhouse
Beautiful, private farmhouse with plenty of room for my family of 5. House was well laid out and extremely neat. Mary, the owner, met us with a bottle of wine to kickoff our vacation. The setting was serene in the quiet Irish countryside, The house was in Ennistymon and was 5 minutes from the town center and 7 minutes to the center of Lahinch which had a ton of great restaurants, not to mention a beautiful beach. Also in the town center was a great supermarket for which we bought groceries and food to have back at the house when we wanted a break from restaurants. We used the house as our base camp to do daily touring of the sites around Ireland. It is 15 mins from the Cliffs of Moher, an hour and a half to Blarney Castle/Stone, Rock of Cashel, Cahir, 35 minutes to Bunratty Castle and Folk Park, Dromoland Castle/Falconry and a little over 2 hours to the Ring of Kerry for which we took the ferry. My daughter left a stuffed animal we got her in Ireland at the house and Mary was kind enough to promptly mail it back to us in the U.S. Just a real pleasant experience which helped make our trip to Ireland a memorable one. Would highly recommend.

Perfect
My family ( me, my husband and 3 children 6,5 and 11 months) just returned home after a week long stay at Ashbrook Farm. It was a perfect match for us.. My older children were so content playing with the very gentle and patient farm cats and Loved feeding the donkey's morning and night. I felt very secure that the kids were safe in the off road setting of the house and the house itself was very child friendly. Myself and my kids cannot wait to return.. I would highly recommend this property, it has perfect location, ammenities and just an overall warm feeling to the house. Thank you Mary again for a great time in Clare!

Irish countryside charm
We were so lucky to have found this beautiful charming country estate. Everything we could have wanted for a restful vacation in this well appointed and cared for home was there. We were central enough to the many beauties of Clare, close to "trad" music, the beach, castles and more. The owner is a very gracious hostess. We couldn't be happier. It was just hard to leave.

Awesome Ashbrook Farm
The Internet does not do this property or it's owner justice. When we decided to take a family trip to Ireland we scoured the VBRO website for a home base. What we found was a home away from home and a host who was gracious, kind, welcoming and knowledgeable.the property far exceeded our expectations for comfort and Rosie and Minnie (the wonderful donkeys) always came calling to welcome us back when we returned from our travels. We toured most of western Ireland and even attended American Day at the Limerick Race Course. We also traveled as far as Kerry, to Blarney Castle as well as the Cliffs of Mohr, Doolin Cave and Lahinch, where we ate many a meal at the local pubs. We would highly recommend this rental to any and all since ther is enough space to accommodate a large family comfortably. We plan to return one day soon to Ireland and when we do we will surely reserve space at Ashbrook Farm.

Our family vacation
All seven of us cannot say enough about how lovely this home and property was for our family vacation in August 2013. The location is perfect for visiting the surrounding area, including Doolin, Lahinch, The Burren, The Cliffs, and the Aran Islands. It also would be great as a home base for longer day trips to Galway and Kerry. The donkeys are a plus; even for those of us who have never loved a donkey before, you may be surprised at how attachable they are! The home is meticulously kept, clean, and has every amenity needed for making family meals, country walks, cozy fires, quiet reading and family time. We had plenty of bedrooms, living areas, and bathrooms for 7 (there are 4); the photos do not capture how spacious the rooms are, nor the fabulous fireplaces. We meant to take some additional ones to share with the owner but missed our opportunity to take them. The village of Ennistymon is charming and the savory galettes & crepes at Oh La La cafe should not be missed. The large grocery store at the edge of town is excellent, and everyone was very friendly. They have great wine selections and everything we needed to cook for our large family. We also ate out a lot in the pubs. We all think McDermott's in Doolin makes the best stew! We also bought fresh produce from the farmer's markets lining the street on select days. FYI: Driving is doable but takes some accommodation----they drive fast but extremely well. Just plan to focus on driving only (no coffee or snacking while driving) and select smaller cars instead of larger ones. We had two cars for our group vs a van....and that makes it easier to negotiate the tighter road allowances than what we have in the US. Cash (Euros) is easy to obtain at the ATM's and also many pubs will allow you to get cash back on your charges if you ask.
We made lots of great memories at this home as well as a very wonderful new friend. I would be remiss if we did not make clear how lovely and helpful our host was in helping us get here (it helps to be escorted the first time in---thank you!) and giving us lots of good information about the area. She is an outstanding host and someone with whom we hope to remain connected. :)
Yes, we hope to return, and yes: We are recommending this home to all we know who are interested in visiting Ireland. We are so thankful that this family has opened this home to share with others ~ B
