NOT the same place in the picture
Lake is miles & miles away, not right behind the place. The place in the pic is not the same place.

Excellent location and accurate property description.
Awesome experience. I had great communication with owner at all times. Definitely would recommend to family and friends.

Great for our family vacation!
The property was as described and fully stocked with everything my small family needed for our stay. Communication with property owners was easy and helpful. We were able to cook most our meals at home and watch many movies just as we had planned. Everyone was very comfortable throughout our stay. We enjoyed the easy access to snow play, stores and restaurants.

Awesome getaway in North Fork
Enjoyed a wonderful time in this lovely home for a week. Now wishing we stayed just a couple more days! Huge house on a large lot, surrounded by manzanita trees and had all the amenities we needed. Great location and close to several points of interest to check out. Creek/community center across the street is awesome and kids had a blast.
Lisa (owner) was very helpful and shared insight with local spots and contacts. Property is well kept and a great, base retreat close to southern entrance to Yosemite about 30mins drive. Thanks for an incredible time!

A wonderful vacation to remember for sure!!
We had a wonderful time staying here away from everything and everyone yet still close to a lot. This was a really nice big comfortable house for our family, we got to enjoy the weather, nature and peace and quiet.

Great home, quiet and peaceful
The owner was very nice and always available to answer any questions.

nearby river
The property itself is kind of awkwardly laid out for 2 families with 4 teenage boys (since two ended up sleeping in the living room/dining area) but we had a fabulous time. We went up to the school at night to watch stars and went to a nearby river during the day. The river was at sort of a park that was technically closed due to covid but it had an awesome swimming hole with a rope swing.

Great location - house needs work
This home a good central location for all that this area has to offer. The house itself needs TLC. To note - the master bathroom has a shower, the hallway bathroom is just the jacuzzi tub, and there is no 'half bath'. Tidy home, but not very clean. Broken chairs in the front lawn, a broken grill and bicycle in the back. Owner is very nice and attentive, but this property needs some attention.

Quiet and private slice of heaven.
Great experience overall with this property. Owner is very tentative and communicated everything both to entice her home as a choice and to ensure a smooth and enjoyable stay. The property itself is very special. Its secluded, quiet, rustic, and feels like home.
The upgrades to the home bring the best of the modern world blended in with the cozy feeling of a true mountain cabin. A terrible storm hit the area leaving all of North Fork and Bass Lake without power. Having a fireplace was a life saver. The day with no power using candles and the fireplace actually was the best part of the trip. The family was definitely off the grid enjoying time together undistracted from anything else. Was a special time..being able to bring my dog was a bonus. Entry and exit was very easy and everything promised was as promised...
I highly recommend this home for a private getaway with plenty of room for 10+ and your dog..5 minutes to Bass Lake. 5 minutes to a local store. Great cell phone coverage. Excellent wi-fi and clean comfortable bedding. Property owner has other homes for rent including a Hawaiian masterpiece I cant wait to take my family to.
Thank you Liza !!

Wakova Lane in North Fork
This was a family holiday celebration; ten folks across three generations and a pup. Most of what this visit was about was group cooking in the kitchen, places for games, and just general catching up and this house is perfect for that. Everyone had great sleep accommodations, and with this big a family folks could find their space when they needed it. Setting was idyllic, even tho a rather serious storm had blown in.

Beautiful place, quiet and safe
I recommend this cabin, whoever is looking for a marvelous time I recommend this cabin by the woods. There’s peace around the cabin and lots of space. Exceptional for kids, and adults, I was there for Christmas there is nothing like this place all quite come and enjoy the nature.

The views go on forever! the quiet is wonderful! This is first class ambiance !
A simple quick call to the caretaker and we were let in to this paradise.
From the dream kitchen to the hardwood floors and all the space for sleeping, this house is well appointed. Great internet reception too!
There was just 2 of us however we may invite our friends up for a great long weekend! We loved using the decks and just relaxing. Having the lake just a short walk was icing on the cake! We will be back. Hopefully next time for a longer stay.

Beautiful Home, Lovely Stay
My family and I really enjoyed our stay here at this beautiful rustic home with a modern twist. It was the perfect getaway for all of us, and one of the nicest vacations we've ever had.
Many people love a tropical vacation, but we decided to try the mountains for a change. It is just as relaxing as a vacation by the beach, but it has such majestic views. So different, yet so captivating, and easy to enjoy on the wrap-around porch, particularly star gazing at night.
The large lot makes the ranch feel remote; no people around to bother you here. Many trees provide lots of privacy, both inside and outside of the home. Yet it's very close to so many attractions and things to do. We had a great time visiting the park and fishing and swimming in the rivers and lakes.
We all have busy lives at home, so we made sure to take time to just "chill" inside the beautiful open house, which provided for all our needs. It is beautifully decorated, has a convenient floor layout, and feels very spacious with the vaulted ceilings.
There are plenty of bedrooms, all with comfortable beds, and I loved the interesting artwork throughout the house. There are even extra beds in case you fall asleep in front of the TV. The kids were happy to have cable TV to watch and of course internet to keep in touch with their friends.
I couldn't have been happier with the big open modern kitchen, which has all the supplies and amenities you'd ever need. I was impressed that we had access to pure clean water from the well on the property. And it is just a few minutes drive to the local grocery store.
We enjoyed the cozy feel of the wood stove in the evening. Most of all, we felt a closeness with nature at this lovely mountain hide-away.
We had no problems with the owners who provided excellent service for our stay. I'm looking forward to returning again in the future.

disappointing
The house was listed on the VRBO website for a specific amount per night. The homeowner sent an invoice for this price, plus an “additional guest” charge. We immediately emailed the homeowner to say we felt this was not a fair additional charge and she did not respond. After our stay the homeowner refused to refund the “additional guest” charge – RENTER BEWARE – make sure you check your invoice carefully before committing to this property. The house is advertised to accommodate 10 people – two beds are in the living and dining room. One of the rooms (off the kitchen) does not have doors but has curtains over the doorways. Our party of five adults and one child arrived at the house mid-afternoon. The driveway to the house is long, gravel, and extremely poorly graded. The ruts are significant so be careful driving. There is a gate before you can get into the house. The code for the gate was not as stated on the VRBO app, neither was the house code so make sure you get the correct codes in advance. We had to enlist the neighbor’s assistance because the phone numbers for the homeowner on the VRBO app were wrong – one went to a voice mail that was not set up, the other was a number no longer in service. The neighbor was able to get ahold of the caretaker who gave us the correct codes. The house has four bedrooms, two bathrooms, a small dining area, and a kitchen which worked well for us. It is well supplied with dishes – although the frying pans were in rough shape. The kitchen was overrun with ants coming through the closed window above the sink when we were there. The first bathroom had two sinks, but only one had water which was cold. It also has a large tub with a hand sprayer – only one shower in the house. Towels were plentiful. The other bathroom equipped with a shower worked well. Beds were comfortable. Outdoor decks were available, but because of heat and smoke from nearby fires, not very useable. The exterior of the house is parched – the lawn is brown, dead grass/weeds. The view of the mountains from the living room was lovely. We would not rent from this homeowner again – did not feel her pricing was upfront.

Peaceful Private Retreat!
This house provides the perfect environment to relax. Extremely quiet and secluded, it is the ideal place to get away from the city and completely unwind. The kitchen is fully equipped and it is fantastic for those who love to cook. The view of the stars at night from the porch are amazing!!!! Would love to visit again someday.

Perfect Short Vacation for Our Family
We enjoyed the house, the views, the property, and visiting Yosemite! The caretakers and Liza were very responsive and helpful! Perfect time to visit without the crowd. The house needed minor improvements on cleaning in the bathrooms and I would recommend adding a fitted sheet to the master room mattress as the sheet kept slipping off. We would love to visit again and stay here to see more of the area, hike, and fish.

Stargazing House
Beautiful mtn home. Young modern decor. Great porch for star gazing. A few suggestions : more lights needed in living and dining rooms. Too dark to read or do needlework. Unappreciative $ signage for broken or mismanaged items. Almost terrible results for communication when we couldn't access the driveway and house locks! Nobody said locks would be changed after we printed out the instructions from home months ago.
Thank God we found a neighbor home. Overall great stay.

Lovely!
Fabulous, beautiful and comfy home! Owners were very easy to work with and they were always very responsive and helpful! The interior and exterior spaces were large enough for all 10 of my family members. Could have used 1 more shower in the house, but other than that it worked very well for us. The only other advise I have is plan on lots of drive time. We found that we spent lots of time in the car on the way to destinations. Bass lake however wa very close and was one of the coolest days we had!
Thank you!

Comfortable Beautiful House/close to town/swimming/lake/30 min to entrance
We love to cook and be comfortable on our vacations. I picked this house and have visited several times both summer and winter. I was referred by my realtor who also vacations here. The granite counters are beautiful and we love the slate shower feeling of rock and stone in the area. Spacious with vaulted high ceilings and fans in every room and AC so we never get hot. The stars on the deck at night are amazing.
There was two King beds memory foam and all beds had toppers so we were able to have more adults and extra den and beds for kids to kick back and watch tv or hang out while I cooked. The kitchen connects with the dining room and living room while cooking, with a serving glass extra counter so we could pass out the food plates and my kids serve us! The house was very clean and had large rattan mats which we like a lot as when we were here in the past the wood was nice but exposed so it makes it easier for us to take off our shoes. The master has a serene window of many manzanita trees.
We had privacy and yet were less than a mile to the ranger station and we swam every day at the best local swimming hole the owners neighbors share with the locals as well as is a national US spot for the State Loggers Jamboree in july which we have come to a few times and then found this home only 3/10 mile from that river. We like to hike and swim at bass lake, and the grill there is excellent so we had the best of both worlds. The park is only 1/2 hour to the south entrance and the train is before that. We go up east to the Yosemite Scenic by way loop, as my husband likes all the off the beat rivers and redinger lake for less crowded areas as well as we love the park, both the inside borders and this gem, area called Yosemite scenic by way loop which also leads to mammoth pools and hot springs easily. One has to educate one self as there is so much to do as well as Shaver Lake, and two other parks Kings Canyon and The Seqoia park. The south entrance we enjoyed the most as you dont have to drive far to the Giant Grizzy sequoias, and we also enjoyed the Shopping in Oakhusrt has a huge grocery store as well as a market one mile from the house. We have become friends with the owners and staff and come often. I wrote our review write away as we do on our way out and saw the previous review and felt to let others know this is not a dusty cabin but a pretty well kept mountain home modest, nice beds and furnishings, a good desk! great internet and cable. ADORABLE.

I wouldn't stay there again
Upon arrival, we were met by the caretaker, who reminded us of the rules set forth in the rental contract. You pay for electricity during your stay (never experienced that one before), and if you don't take your trash to the dump, you have to pay a fee! Also, he told us because the maids already work so hard, we were told to strip the linens off all the beds before leaving. Finally, the satellite wasn't working, so no TV. We were told they had been waiting for a while for the repair guy to come out, but we felt like they hadn't tried to schedule it. The impression we had was that no one had been there in some time and the owner doesn't want to put money into the place for upkeep. Okay, whatever, we'd roll with it because we're on vacation. We also felt we had no choice but to agree to everything since the owner had our security deposit. We took a picture of the meter right away and another when we checked out, just in case.
The house was just okay. One of the "bedrooms" doesn't have a door, it only has a curtain for privacy, which is completely sheer when the light is on in there, and it's directly off the living room. In another room, the bed frame is held together with zip ties, so my 6'3" son was worried about breaking it (we took pictures when we got there, just in case). The master bed was extremely uncomfortable. I sneezed more than I've ever sneezed in my life--it was as if the house hadn't been aired out in a while or they frequently rent to people with pets.
More than a week after we checked out, we got an email saying that our security deposit was on its way back, less the cost of electricity. Sure enough, their calculation of electricity didn't match ours. We took a picture of the meter and turned off the air conditioner and all the lights when we left, so we know our calculation is correct. (Perhaps the house cleaning people turn the air back on when they cleaned--the cleaning for which we already paid.) I sent the owner the pictures and an email explaining the discrepancy. She hasn't responded.
We booked this house at the last minute because it was advertised as elegant and secluded. It is secluded. It is miles from elegant.

Secluded and private. Close to Bass Lake and nice drive toYosemite
We enjoyed our stay at this lovely home. There was plenty of sleep space for our group of 6 and our Yorkie. It's a great location that isn't too far from Bass Lake where we rented a boat for the day and about a 1.5 hr drive to Yosemite Valley. The swimming hole across the street was a great place to go for a dip and cool off. I loved sitting out on the porch in the morning with my coffee as the sun was coming us and again enjoying the serenity in the evening.
Some of the information that was given to is prior to check in was incorrect but we managed just fine. Steve, the caretaker, luckily met us at just the right time being that our cellular service was extremely limited. We did attempt to call him during our stay and we're disappointed that he never returned our call. For those of you, who use hairdryers, be sure to bring one from home as there isn't any at the house - my fault for not bringing mine. We also brought movies to watch in the evenings but never found the DVD player nor could we get the cable to work on the TV - no biggie cuz we brought books and board games to entertain us in the evenings. Don't forget bug spray as the mosquitos are out in the evening.
Over all, nice place and we really enjoyed our stay and vacation!

AMAZING weekend getaway - Beautiful house and Breath-taking views!!!
After just moving to CA from NYC, Liza's Bass Lake house was the perfect weekend getaway from the big city. The check-in/check-out process was seamless. Liza and her house manager Steve were friendly, attentive, professional and informative during the process leading up to our arrival and were accessible via phone/text throughout our stay if we needed anything. They were even kind enough to push back our check-out time to help accommodate us after a travel delay caused us to arrive a lot later than we planned. The house was clean, well-equipped with everything we needed, safe (alarm system was a huge plus), and in a perfect location! The property was quiet and scenic and a short drive to the beautiful Bass Lake! We had breakfast on the beautiful porch overlooking the breath-taking mountains; hiked on the gorgeous Bass Lake trails along side incredible waterfalls; cooked in the amazing, new kitchen and just had an all-around perfect weekend. We could not have asked for a better weekend and hope to come back to visit! Thank you Liza for everything!!!

Family Weekend Getaway!!
My family stayed at Yosemite Elegant - Bass Lake Area Home for two nights last weekend. The caretakers were wonderful, they took the time to welcome us and answer all our questions upon arrival. He also tried to help us when we lost WIFI and called him the next day. The home was clean and very spacious yet cozy. Cleanliness is my number one priority when looking for a place to stay because I have young children. Beds are placed very strategically throughout the home to accommodate a large group.
The kids had lots of fun choosing where to sleep. Amenities throughout the house are adequate. All you need to bring is food/groceries if cooking there.
The home is not too far from Oakhurst if you need groceries, gas etc. We were hoping to explore the surrounding areas and play ground behind the home on foot but it was raining.
All in all, we had a great time and will most definitely be returning.
Thank you for a wonderful stay!

All things considered, we had a great time staying at this location. It was reasonably priced, large, comfortable and fairly priced as compared to other rental properties. I won't repeat some of the details already described by previous reviewers, but would like to offer my take on some of the criticism and areas of contention:
1. Paperwork - It took us 3 iterations to get the lease right. The prices were incorrect and the dates were wrong. The owners also double booked the property at the last minute. They eventually cleared this up for us, but it would've been nice to get it right the first time around.
2. Outside Property - The pictures are deceptive. The pictures shown make it appear as though the land is flat and clear with plenty of open running space. In reality, the backyard is a steep uphill slope with trees. The area to the left of the driveway is a steep downhill slope, and the area in front of the house has a medium grade slope with some tall grass. These issues weren't a factor for us, since we just needed an open space to let the dog run and didnt have any children that could run around. With all this aside, we still had a nice view of the mountains.
The driveway is "loose" gravel. This was also not an issue for us, but could be an issue for smaller cars.
3. Inside Property - Plenty spacious with a very nice kitchen and bathrooms. We did find some long female hair in the bedding, but aside from that, the property was clean. I understand that sometimes washers/dryers may miss some long female hair, so we wont hold this against the owner.
4. Distance to Yosemite - We found that the 30 min estimate drive to Yosemite was a little over zealous. At best, it took us 45 min to the front gate, and another 45 min from the front gate to the valley. This wasnt a big deal for us. You cant do much better without renting properties in the actual Yosemite park.
All in all, we had a great time here. We didnt have any major criticism, but wanted to provide a fair unbiased clarification of some of the other feedback previous reviewers had provided. These things werent a big deal for us, and we'd definitely consider staying again. The property was large, spacious, comfortable and conveniently located.

The house is HUGE!!! At our church member meeting yesterday, we're already planning to stay at this house again.
The home is very clean and very modern. It is a very good combination of modern convenience - washing machines, kitchen, utilities, dishwasher, tv etc - it's all very high tech. COMBINED with a very natural, beautiful design. The home is very very tall with beautiful large windows. Every day, you feel like you're actually outside because the house design has these great windows.
It's not just a vacation home - it's designed like a retreat or spa... spa? I almost forgot to mention the huge jet jacuzzi in the beautiful tile bathroom! The bathrooms all have two sinks and are huge bathrooms. I like the tiles in the bathrooms because their colors and lighting are the same you see at high end spas.
There's also fast wifi and digital cable.
There's a really nice porch that extends the entire front end of the house. And the backside has its own porch too. Screen doors let you feel like the home extends past the house - but keeps the insects out.
The hose mechanism works great so it's easy to rinse or wash your car after your outdoor / off trail excursions.
Fishing is nearby at many places and you can get an annual license easily.
I like how the house is a bit off the main road - not so far you'll be driving forever - but far enough to get away from everything and feel like you're out in nature.
There are all sorts of beautiful trees with multicolor bark all around the property.
At night you can lay down and see the stars - that's what I did outside.
There's also electrical outlets outside the house, so you can run devices off the house in the car, or enjoy electrical usage on the porch easily outside.
There are fresh bathroom towels in abundance.
When you go into the house, you'll feel immediately at home. There are no problems at all with the house - but if you had any questions, the owners are really nice and easy to work with - they'll be like your friends and guides for your yosemite trip.
The only reservation I had about posting this is that if everyone knows how perfect this location is - it'll be hard for us to book again!
If u read this far to see how awesome this place is - you can request from this website or the owner for my personal info. I'm happy to vouch for the owners and the vacation home via cell or email.
Expect to get recharged, inspired to go back again, and to feel energized for life again IF you decide to home :)

The house was nice, comfortable, and clean. Both bathrooms were nice and felt out of the ordinary from my shower at home, so it was a luxiourous change. Towels were soft, bedding very comfortable. There are all different kinds of pillows in the house, so if you don't like one kind, just go switch with another. We were supposed to have access to the garage to wash clothing, to our suprise it was locked and off limits. We speculate that a broom might have been in there as well. We needed to sweep the porches off to clear the thick layer of pollen on the steps, porch, and patio furntiture. My mom had very bad allergies,so we were disappointed not to have access to a broom. Some of the windows had bad seals, so hornets were getting in the house. The radio in the house works, but only has treble, no bass. It needs to be replaced.
The listing photos should be edited to remove any indication pictures of water, as should the description. There was no water 'accross the way'. Water access was one reason we wanted to stay at this property. We passed up others because it seemed clear that water was easily accessible. We were given unclear directions and did not find where the water was. The community center was gated and locked up both days we attempted to go there. Seems you need to pre-arrange a visit to the community center and can't decide to go when you feel up to it. I would recommend for the owner to have map and typed directions at the house for your guests to know where to go to find 1) the ranger station, and 2) any near by water. Also, the 5 acres is deceptive. It's unclear, filled with shrubbery, unable to walk the property, or even see where the property ends because of the endless shubbery. Even the front yard was plagged with tall unkept grass, so there was no where to play in a yard. I do not recomended this property for children. The main photo from this listing is shot from the back yard up on a hill. I couldn't beleive this picture. Today, the plants and shubbery would completly block out the sight of the house and it looks like you could plan on the lawn, but the incline is so steep you have to concisouly watch where your stepping to keep your footing.
To sum it up, the house was nice and functioned well, but if you like spending your time out doors (hence the reason why you visit this area of CA), better outdoor spaces need to be created for recreation.

I was there over Easter/Spring break for a much needed get away. As promised, the house was secluded and quiet, not to mention beautiful and well kept. Immediately upon entering the home I was very impressed with the decor and furniture, but my favorite feature?... The beds...I have NEVER slept so well. I don't know what type of mattress/sleep foam Dr. Liza uses, but the first night I laid down I was out like a light!
As an avid visitor to Yosemite, it is common knowledge that you will have to drive between an hour to hour and a half to get to most locations...that's pretty normal. Unless of course, you stay in the "valley," which I don't recommend because of the crowds. Because of the lovely property, I didn't mind driving at all! In fact, there was one day I spent investigating some of the local hot spots and found the monument for the "Exact Center of California." How fun is that?
Seriously, the store down the road has everything you will need (okay, they don't carry feta cheese), as well as fishing gear, etc. The ranger station recommended the fishing at "Mammoth Pools," and we drove down for the day. We didn't fish, but it was beautiful. If you go to the campground, stop for lunch and hike down to the rocks and running water...glorious! There is a Chevron gas station in the small town of North Fork, and absolutely everyone I met in the city was super nice.
We cooked at home every night...the kitchen is gorgeous! Everything you need for any type of meal...fun to cook after a day in the forest!!! We found a lot of our own firewood on the road, as well as brought our own, which I highly recommend (hint, pinecones are a GREAT fire starter). If I had any "complaint," it would be that there were no trash bags or toilet paper, but that was easily remedied. The other thing that confused me were the "5 acres." It was really difficult to try and walk around the property, due to the amount of trees and brush. There is a home right off the entrance road to the right, and I was scratching my head wondering where the "5 acres" were.
All in all, I had an amazing time, and would HIGHLY recommend this place! Dr. Liza is an absolute sweetheart, and working with her was very easy (payment transaction, etc..). I look forward to returning again!

We arrived in November and loved all the colors. The House was decorated very cleanly and with beautiful oak floors throughout and slate and travertine stone in bathrooms and kitchen, The granite made us feel luxurious and the gas stove was wonderful for baking and cooking with entertaining. It has
glass counters and granite to serve plates and dialogue with guests in the dining area,, so you are not cooped up cooking but connecting with the dining area and living room. We stayed in alot so the views of the living room with vaulted floor to celing windows let us bring the outside in and we could see snow capped yosemite moutains. Things were still green because they had rain. We also walked to the track and field behind the house hidden but a few minute walk and got our exercise daily as well as going to the local river about 1/2 mile from the house. My husband fished and got some catch! WE also ventured to nearby Bass Lake and to Yosemite. We saw recommended Whiskey falls close by and hike Angel Falls at Bass Lake. Lastly Manzanita lake was only 2 miles away and water easy access enough to picnic right at the shore and fish again. The house was warm, well decorated, and peaceful with deer in the dawn by the picture bedroom master window! We were very comfortable and pleased with the service of owners and caretaker from begining to end. We even had a wood stove fire and central heat, so never cold, and we took hot jacuzzi baths at night, where you can look out the tub and see the moon and hear and see nature out your back door. Town was one mile away so we could grab groceries, had our dog groomed and got some local fresh eggs. We are coming again next year in the spring to see the wild flowers. Highly recommend spot if you like easy access and peace.
We couldnt understand the road complaints as its very short and not steep of the main road and as teh owner said grated, but maybe as they said it was the rain, and they obviously took care of it. We were happy, rested and well toured.

We stayed here in August 2011 with 9 of our friends and dog for a birthday weekend. The cabin is easy to find during the day but very hard at night because there are no lights on the road. You have to drive up a very steep dirt and unpaved road to the cabin which we were warned by other reviewers. The cabin is very nice and the description fits well. The kitchen is well equipped and we were able to make and enjoy nice meals and used the patio for a night of bbq. The cabin is about 20-30 mins from Bass Lake and 1 hour to the center Yosemite National Park so it was nice to spend one day at Bass Lake and the other day at Yosemite. We also enjoyed the recreation area which is directly across the street (down the paveroad). When we were there, the water was low but we were still able to play with the rope which was super fun! All in all, this is a nice cabin. Great place for a quiet getaway and/or adventures in the wild.

The house was spacious and privately located with a very nice kitchen and comfortable tempurpedic beds. The floor to ceiling windows in the living room made watching the sunrise easy, and the wrap around porch gave us a good spot from which to watch birds. It was great to have a place that was nearby the things we came to visit. For last-minute grocery needs, there was a store about a mile away from the house, so we lacked for nothing. The drive to the South Yosemite entrance was beautiful, and the fall colors were spectacular. We ate at Ducey's one night and enjoyed every bite. Definitely a good place to come and bring your family.

My husband and I and another couple and our kids needed a time out from our business. We also do vacation rental cleaning and windows. We have a good sense of properties and picked this property because it was very nice and looked clean and had things to do nearby for us and the kids. The owner asked us to give feedback on the house, the area and the kitchen stock and anything else that had been of previous concern. First of all this is the best kitchen and house we could find in the yosemite area and for the price, its a score for luxury. Liza asked us to give feedback on the kitchenware. We found plenty of nice white dishes, in fact, there were new dishes stocked in the back un opened if we needed more. There were plenty of pots and pans and at least 3 teflon pans. She had both older pots and new ones, which is why I think some past renters thought some were scratched. I personally need both as when I cook hard to clean things, I dont like to ruin only new stuff. We made all our own meals and found all that we needed and the cupboards and drawers were not empty but had all the basic needs. The owner had not added anything and there really is no need. Also the house is so well layed out to entetain between the kitchen and the diining and living room areas. There is privacy also since a door closes to the hallway to the bedrooms so one can stay up late while others sleep.
As far as food in town, there was a one mile away gourmet restaurant. It is related to the owners of the elderberry restaurant in oakhurst, voted 5 star. The food at the mexican place was clean and not greasy, but homemade and well priced. The grocery store was a plus and not to be complained about. dont the previous posters realize there are no grocery stores inside yosemite and the small towns sprinkled around the borders have small family run stores or vons in oakhurst. This is not the big city , but the country. We still found fresh farm food there, corn on the cob and watermelon from local farmers, much better than a regular grocery for some fresh local stuff. And even the DVD store man gives out fresh farm eggs from local grown.. amazing. There is plenty to do in the small town one mile , both shop at a few cute stores for souveniers, as well as hardward, pet groomer, dentist and two restaurants,as well as the ranger station and an adorable river to walk through, two of them with paths.
I would not complain, you have to just look or ask where things are and see they are right here!

We had a blast at this Property. Right above the home, just behind the house up the hill was a playing field for football, track, basketball, walking, and swingsets etc belong to the local school but was accesible to our kids to play their brains out. The Very best thing was the swimming at the local community center, a river dammed of for the Loggers Jamboree that they leave for all the kids and families to swim. We would spend the whole day with our picnic gear and almost forget to do other things. We also rented bbq boats and jet skis at nearby bass lake. We had 3 couples so the three bedrooms worked great and the beds were temperpedic or had toppers and were really comfortable. the kids (5) had the den bunks and extra day beds so we had our privacy. Views were great with vaulted windows and we cooked in the gourmet kitchen to save money and the grocery store was only one mile from us so we didnt have to rush around if we forgot something. THe house was very beautiful
and modern. Our last day we went to the yosemite scenic by way and Redinger Lake, which we would not have known about , except the locals informed us. We are going to come again next year and stay longer. The owners were great, and we enjoyed talking with the caretaker who owns the motel next door and is on the chamber of commerce, gave us great things to do local as well as in the park. less driving and lots of water sports local. A great vacation for our family and kids!

WE had an awesome trip and it was not long enough! Especially great for kids.
We had 10 of us and the kids had their own rooms while we had a master bedroom
with a temperpedic bed we loved!
Great Swimming Lake was only a 5 minute walk from the house from this beautiful immaculate property. We enjoyed having the State Loggers Jamboree out our back yard, an event we attend every year, State wide championship. We couldnt ask for a better location as we could walk to it in 5 minutes. Afterwards we were able to swim in the best swimming around at the same park by the house. We are only one mile away from a small town to get everythign we needed for food and videos and even a dog groomer. The Ranger station is behind the grocery store and was extremely helpful with maps of local hiking and the park. We were not in long lines of crowds being the Yosemite Scenic by Way entrance. We also had time to get to Bass Lake for jet skiing and kayaking for our last day. Our first day was in the park, the second the Jamboree and the last the water sports. The owner asked us for our review because they said they got a bad location wrap and we were so happy to say this location served all our needs and we also as the owner indicated drove only 1/2 hour to the park entrance south gates. We had no problems with the road in our mercedes which is quite low. We like that we were at the top of the hill just off the main road, it was private with views of the yosemite mountains and no one could see in but we could see out. The house and the grounds were beautiful and we had access to all our needs. We have stayed in side the park at the Awahnee and found our experience of vaction homes better as we have more to do at our fingertips.
We even can get to local waterfalls around the corner,, we didnt go but will be back for Whiskey creek by the house. We highly recommend this house for not only its superb luxury home which is hard to find, but the location and many things to do and the owners graciousness and a great caretaker who owns the motel next door and ran the loggers Jamboree, A great community of people here.
