About this house rental
Two truly unique houses connected with extensive outdoor living areas & amenities, overlooking the Guadalupe River, create a peaceful riverfront retreat. Whether your goal is rest, renewal, fun family times or exploring the Texas Hill Country, the setting at Rio de Arcadia will accentuate your getaway to the hills. Beyond the giant shaded deck & patio spaces, amenities include a negative edge swimming pool, fire pit, hot tub, amphitheater, hammock, terraced playing fields, 4 hole putting green, horseshoe pit & swing.
The larger 1,900 square foot "Casa Tejas" offers a slightly contemporary 'Texana' theme. Casa Tejas' 2 Bedroom, 2 Bath set up with separate Den, Dining, Great Room, Utility/Laundry & Kitchen, all reflect a 7 generation journey through Texas history. From the artful front door, personally hand crafted by famed jeweler & craftsman, James Avery, to the bedroom desk carefully carted cross country from the Alabama State House to the Austin area in 1854, interesting embellishments with a story await your discovery
'Texas Tuscan' comes to mind in the more compact 1,100 square foot 2 bedroom, 2 bath venue of "The Studio". A more traditional interior is accentuated by furnishings and art work collected from Europe by four generations of family.
See Photo Gallery for aerial view of property and floor plans for both houses.
The two unique houses are joined beneath majestic oaks by the 1,700 square foot "Great Deck" overlooking the upper terrace which features a kids' swing and "Fern Bed" hammock. A flagstone patio, hot tub, fire pit and amphitheater plus three terraced playing fields, with river access for wading and kayaking, create a unique outdoor setting overlooking the Guadalupe River. The swimming pool is located just a few steps away from the houses down a winding path and a 4 hole putting green is conveniently located by the front porch. The pool is able to be heated with advanced notice and an additional fee. Please contact the owner for more information.
We live on the adjacent property and are usually available during your stay.

We had six of us….three adults and three teens, and the property was perfect. Having the two houses was great for us, and there was plenty of room. We had fun down by the river, the hot tub, mini golf, and just enjoyed the outdoors. Debbie and Howell were great hosts!

Beautiful property with lots of room and activities. We really enjoyed our family and friend reunion for our son’s first birthday at this property. Georgeous live oaks shade the large patio it’s magical. We spent most of the time in the pool or on the deck, it was perfect. Would for sure stay here again

The outdoor living spaces were our favorite! The pool was wonderfully situated and the fountains added a great natural soundtrack to this rustic destination. Loved the location and it’s obviously the priority for the property owners. A refresh and deep clean on the inside will take it from good place to a stand out stay (new towels & beds).

Planned this stay 4 years out and had a most enjoyable event. The property offers everything you might want in a perfect setting to relax and reconnect. It was also great to have our hosts nearby if we needed anything. Would love to have stayed longer.

Had a group of teenagers for my daughter's 18th birthday. The house was perfect and the property is even more amazing in person. Kids had a blast playing games in the backyard, used volleyball court and pool and hot tub. River was great for exploring. Was the perfect location for our weekend. 10 out of 10 and will rent again!

Debbie and Howell are great hosts. The property is amazing. So much attention to detail! The hot tub and pool were very clean. We had an eclipse watching party and the property had great sky views. I hope to return for other friends and family events.

The property was amazing, clean, large and amazing backyard with a fire pit, huge pool, jacuzzi, small miniature golf area for the kids and adult kids, and argue river access from the property.
We stayed for 4 days and 3 nights and we had an amazing time. The owners next door showed us around and then told us to call if we need anything at all.
We have friends who have stayed here before us and we didn’t realize until a couple weeks before our stay and they loved is also.
If you are looking for a place with a lot of amenities, great location, and an amazing architectural design, then look no further.

Houses and grounds were beautiful and well kept. Pool was really nice. We hung out by the pool mostly and had a great time. Due to drought conditions there was little to no water in river behind property, but the pool and the grounds kept everyone entertained.

What can I say...this place is truly a gem! And, the hosts are truly great people. This is a really fun home that is great for larger groups. Outdoors they have a putting green, hot tub and the infinity edge pool was great as well. This was our second stay at this home as we enjoyed our time so much during our first stay that we just had to book again.

Howell and Debbie's place is truly beautiful. The expansive backyard is even more gorgeous in person, and everything has been handcrafted by this lovely couple. Howell is an architect, and you can tell by the care and thought that went into everything on this property. We absolutely love it.
We used this space for our wedding weekend -- the groom's family stayed here and we hosted our welcome party the day before. It was the perfect spot for a backyard, laid-back, beautiful way to start our festivities, and our guests loved it. Especially the activities - mini golf, cornole. The pool is also so nice.
Most of all, though, Debbie and Howell are so friendly, responsive, and welcoming. They made everything so easy, and we are so grateful to them for opening up their little slice of heaven to us for our wedding!

Let me start by saying, this house, the location, the view, the outdoor space, the pool, EVERYTHING is absolutely spectacular! I have no complaints at all about this rental EXCEPT the owner living 2 houses down and walked down each day. This made our group of girls very uncomfortable. Do not get me wrong, he was very polite and nice but coming over each day was a bit odd. Day 1 at the pool around 6pm he came and told us our music was too loud, which was not the case. The pool is directly in-between 3 houses. The rental is on the end, the middle house is under construction, and the 3rd house is where the owner lives. No other houses are close enough to have even been bothered by a loud TV. Later in the evening the owner decided to stop by right before dark to let us know how to operate the light switches. Note: in this house there are probably over 100+ light switches and EACH ONE IS LABELED! There was no need to come over with a house of 11 girls all in their swimsuits to give light switch instructions. From there he stayed about 30 minutes all mingling with the girls. Made us all uncomfortable and it seemed very odd. The next morning, he stopped by, then came by again at lunch to let us know he would be leaving from 1-10pm and if we needed him to call or text. Do not get me wrong, this rental is beyond amazing, but when renting a place like this I don't feel like the owner should be popping by constantly and unannounced. This made us all feel like we were constantly being watched or spied on throughout the whole weekend we were there. I should also state while this WAS a group of all girls this most definitely was not a wild party. The age ranges were from 30-70 so it's not like we were hanging from the chandeliers and streaking down the street. Again, great rental but the set up with the owner is a bit odd.

Debbie & Howell were excellent hosts. They gave us a personal tour of the property. Howell is an architect and designed all the new renovations to this place. It's obvious how much thought and intentions was put into the many details this place has to offer. My family truly enjoyed ourselves in Debbie and Howell's slice of the Guadalupe. I mean this when I say it, this is the best rental property I have been to. It's resort style living in the hill country.

Absolutely perfect and gorgeous location
This property was perfect for families. The layout of the homes with the pool was over the top. The sprawling property with extra amenities exceeded our expectations. The details of the landscaping were just gorgeous. We can't stop raving about what a great time we had. Thank you Debbie and Hal!

Outdoor Oasis
The property was as described and the hosts were very welcoming. Pros: The outdoor space was ideal for our family get away. We had 6 adults and 5 children from 2-13 year of age and we all enjoyed the outdoor space and games. The pool was awesome. The house was clean and all of the basic needs were supplied. Cons: The bed mattresses could use a rotation. We all felt like we were sleeping with our heads downhill but other than that they were ok. My only real complaint is that the owner did not disclose that there would be active new construction on the property right next door and directly in front of the pool (beating, welding, generator running, construction workers coming and going ). We still managed to enjoy our stay overall but probably would not have booked had the construction been disclosed.

Great location with amazing outdoor spaces
We really enjoyed our stay at Rio de Arcadia. We spent most of our time outside enjoying the incredible outdoor spaces, including a 4 hole putting green (awesome surprise!). The pool was beautiful and even larger than it looked in photos.

Stunning property!
The property and homes on it are absolutely stunning. The patio and hot tub and pool were so much fun. The trees and string lights make for an incredible ambiance in the evenings!! We really loved the property. The only thing that wasn't perfect about it was that all the bathrooms are located in bedroom suites—I wish there was a small powder room in the main area of the house that could be used by people who were staying on the pull out beds, instead of needing to go into a bedroom to use a bathroom. That was my only complaint! We really, really enjoyed our stay.

Magical riverfront hill Country retreat
We stayed here with some friends and our children. This property is exceptional and exceeded our expectations which doesn’t happen often. It is clear the owners take great pride and have thought of everything when designing this haven on the river. We had everything we could need and didn’t want to leave the grounds: pool, hot tub, river, amphitheater, etc. we enjoyed the amazing deck and all the outdoor seating areas. Would love to come back again!
