About this villa rental
Villa The Gaya is situated in the village of Kaliasem in central Lovina, with a coconut plantation area to one side and a mix of Balinese and western owned houses to the other. The beach is only 600 meters away, so are shops, bars and restaurants. We are not in a gated tourist complex but you will have a unique opportunity to feel the genuine Balinese way of life and yet be private in the villa grounds. The villa sleeps up to 5 people and is therefore ideal for a large family or a couple of friends on holiday together.
The upstairs of the house has a separate entrance so you can still ‘be private’ if you are more people travelling together. It has a large open-space area with living-room including TV and DVD player, dining-area, bedroom with double bed and own sitting-arrangement. Bathroom with hot/cold water. There are ceiling and floor fans. The living-room sofa transforms into a ¾ bed if you are more than 4 people staying in the house.
Downstairs is a large bedroom with a double bed and A/C, living room with dining table and sofa. Bathroom with hot/cold water. In the kitchen our staff will prepare your breakfast and during the day you can help yourselves to tea and coffee.
There is balcony/terrace on 3 sides of the villa, so you have plenty of places to set and relax outside.
Balinese life is lived outdoors and in our 1400 m2 tropical garden you will have plenty of space to enjoy yourself. In the traditional Balinese pavilion (Bale) you can sit and relax or use our new pool and sundeck with outdoor shower. You will find fruit trees like mango, rambutan, bananas and coconuts, which you are welcome to eat. We also have a large variation of exotic flowers and plants.
Our staff will serve you breakfast every morning and clean the house, pool and garden daily. Should you want any special fruit, drink or food, our staff is ready to get it. You just need to give them money in advance and pay a small fee for transportation.
The Gaya if pronounced in Balinese means both stylish and unsnobbish, which is how we like to think of our house. We look forward to welcoming you.

We stayed here for 4 weeks (family of 5). We had the most amazing time here. It was very relaxing and a great place to unwind. The bedroom downstairs has air con but the house is very airy so it doesn't get too hot. My kids loved exploring the garden and we spent many hours in the pool. I would have to say that the staff truly made this property a delight to stay in. We enjoyed getting to experience village life with the locals. I will definitely return when in Lovina again.

We had a great time. Molin and Sri were so kind and helpful. Molin taking care for the garden & pool, time for a nice chat so now and then- and Sri taking care for the house. She regularly cooked for us, lovely food all fresh prepared, with home made sambals. The house is situated in a laid back community of foreign owners, but also next to the kampong. It was really nice to experience the Balinese life with its particular sounds and smells on a close distance, since the house offers privacy all over the place. The delightful garden with mango- papaya and palmtrees is paradise. And when you want to go to the beach, ask Molin for the route via the sawa's..

Excellent stay at Gaya Villa
My wife and I recently stayed at the Gaya Villa near Lovina. This was our second visit after staying here for six weeks in 2014. Mulan and Sri are both still working at the Gaya and we enjoyed reuniting with them and their families as well as with Lene, the villa owner. They are all simply put "a treat". The Gaya Villa is located within a local village where you get to enjoy an authentic Balinese experience - friendly villagers, chickens, roosters, sows and new born piglets plus school students on their way to and from school. The villa is well equipped with a wonderful yard and gardens. We enjoyed using the pool to refresh after a days biking around Lovina and the surrounding area. Obviously we would recommend it to people who would like to experience Balinese daily life in a relaxing friendly environment.

This place is paradise on Bali
This is a fantastic place to stay. Located in the authentic Bali - and still only 15 minutes walk from downtown Lovina and the black beaches. The beautiful house is located in an exotic garden with a nice pool. Our family loved it and we can only recommend you to stay at this fantastic place.

poorly maintained, uncomfortable quarters, dirty, no hot water in kitchen, staff was nice
we left after 1 day even tho we had paid for 5 nights in advance. This place does not live up to its photos or discription on the website. I wonder if the owner has ever visited it i the last few years.

We (family two kids 10 and 7) stayed for a week at gaya villa in Lovina. We had a great time. The villa, the garden and the pool are simply great. It really feels a bit like paradise. It's a ten minute walk to the beach and with a ojek (scouter) it's 5 minutes to lovina centre. Also at night with a torch it's no problem. Sri (who makes the best papaya jam I ever tried) .
and Mulan (or Molen) are extremely helpful. They speak english and Mulan can arrange all kind of trips (snorkling, dolphins, cockfighting and transport to your next destination). We found only one drawback. The villa is situated between local houses (which is great of course) but it meant being woken up very early in the morning because of the sounds of cocks and families but more disturbing by the smoke of litter thats being burned next to the villa. It really affected out lungs. (More coughing and sputum). Sleaping downstairs was much better then sleeping oms the first floor.
But sitting in front of your villa enyoing your breakfast and view the night has soon been forgotten.

Best place for holyday
This accommodation is in a class by itself. The house is really nice, clean and comfortable, and well decorated. The garden is second to none and it is cleaned every morning. The friendly staff are very helpful both with transportation and breakfast. The house is conveniently located off the main street in a residential neighborhood that is exciting to explore. I can highly recommend a stay in this lovely house.

Wonderful!
I had a wonderful time in Lovina and really enjoyed staying at Lene's house. It was such an extraordinary experience that appealed to all my senses and made me feel alive! The house is located in the middle of the village, which gives a very authentic impression of how life actually is lived in Lovina. I will never forget the lovely and spacious house or the beautiful garden with many different fruit trees and flowers (frangipani, my favourite). The swimming pool was nice and clean and was the perfect spot for reading. Every morning, the cocks woke me up, and every evening, the frogs, geckos etc. gave great concerts. The friendly staff did everything possible to make my stay unforgettable. They made sure that Lovina now has a special place in my heart, which is why I now am saving up for my next trip!

Wonderful, hospitable stay
What a wonderful place and beautiful garden. Nice to live between the local people. Especially the hospitality of Molen en Sri is great! Maybe one negative remark, early awakenings because of many cocks in the neighbourhood. But than again, you live between the locals ;)

Great house with wonderful staff.
The house was very nice and comfortable with a pleasant garden and bure (covered hangout spot) and pool. The best part of the house was the staff. Seri cleans the house and made us breakfast every morning and dinner sometimes for a very very very reasonable price. Molin the gardener organized some of our dinners at home and also helped us arrange trips in the area and was very friendly. This house is sort of 'in the village' so you are living the real Bali life, complete with roosters in the morning and the sweet smell of coconut smoke. We spent a week and were sad to leave.

A lovely soujourn in northern Bali
We are a retired couple from the USA and stayed for two months, mid-January to mid-March, at The Gaya. The description of the property furnished by the owner was accurate in every respect.
The two-storey house is well-maintained, with daily (except one rest day) cleaning service. The house is very spacious and nicely furnished with comfortable seats and an extra bonus is the second bathroom. The large garden, surrounded by high walls on three sides, carries a variety of trees, from 10 coconut palms to papaya and banana and several rambutan trees that were hanging full of rambutans so that part of our servings of fruit was rambutans fresh from the trees.
The garden is constantly maintained and the swimming pool cleaned six days a week, so that going for a swim is always a pleasure and the two lounge chairs and big umbrella by the pool invite leasurely relaxation.
Sri, the housekeeper, and Molen, the gardener are very diligent and helpful, one could not want for better personnel. It is always a nice beginning of the day when the baker’s husband comes with the fresh-out-of-the-oven baguette and Sri fixes a wholesome breakfast. We should mention that this baker lady bakes a variety of breads which are their equal to the kind of German breads we are used to.
Also mentionable is the Agung Spa, right next to the bakery, where one of us had an almost daily massage, done by competent massage therapists, with transportation to and from the spa.
There a a number of good restaurants within 2 km from the house, some of which also provide transportation. Most of them are in the strip along the beach. The nearest store where basics can be bought is only five minutes on foot.
As an older couple we did not rent any motor bikes or ride bycicles because we did not feel confident enough to join the lively traffic, but made do with walking, while getting transportation by car can be easily arranged.
The house is located at the periphery of Kaliasem village, Lebah banjar, which at first is not so obvious because of the many trees that blanket the area, but two of the neighbors have chickens and pigs and a couple of cows so that the rural setting communicates itself soon after moving in, but apart from the squealing of the piglets when they are hungry, this never becomes intrusive. On the other hand, the neighbor across the street is from Germany and there are other expats in the area.
All in all, we would highly recommend The Gaya for a stay in the Lovina area.

Villa the Gaya, a perfect place to stay @ Lovina!
We (family of 5) enjoyed staying at Villa the Gaya, it was probably the best accommodation we've experienced, out of the 7 villa's/houses we've booked this summer holiday in Bali and Java.
Before we started our holiday, owner Lene made sure we were well informed and had no questions left open.
At arrival and during our stay, Lene's staff and even a personal friend helped us out several times in finding our way and getting good and smooth arrangements in Lovina and the surrounding region.
The villa is beautiful in- and outside, breakfast prepared by villa staff Suri is delicious, rooms are large, clean and comfortable, the pool is nice and big enough, and the patio is perfect at the end of the day to relax a bit, looking over the beautiful garden.
The villa is located in the middle of a small neighbourhood at the 'hills-side' of the beachroad, perfect when you're not looking for a resort full of tourists.
It takes a 15 minutes walk to the 'Spice beachclub', a very nice modern place to enjoy the sea, snorkling and some good food and live music. However, staff of this beachclub rather pick you up for free by car than let you walk the road. The first shop takes another 10 minutes walk, but staff of the villa is always ready to get the groceries you want, and even can be asked to prepare a typical Bali style dinner!
Transport to other locations outside Lovina can be arranged via villa staff, a big car for 7 persons (including local driver) is available at request.
If you're looking for a reasonably priced private property around Lovina beach, with perfect staff and a bit off the beaten track, you should definitely try villa the Gaya!

Comfortable house in a lovely and local area
We had a great time and I have never experienced such friendly and helpful people before. This goes for the staff at the house and for all the locals we met. The property is clean and comfortable and is definitely recommendable if you would like to experience the local Balinese atmosphere and spend a day diving or snorkling. It is amazing! I will definitely go back if I get the chance.

Authentic Bali
My wife and I stayed at this villa for seven weeks in January and February, 2014. The listing description is accurate. The villa and property are well maintained and the owner, Lena, is very conscientious with her replies to email and detail. Once at the villa, she gave us very good advice about many sites and activities in the surrounding area.
We had excellent customer service. The housekeeper, Sri, was a gem and the groundskeeper, Mulin, was also extremely friendly, helpful and informative about the Balinese people and their customs.
The villa is about a ten minute walk through the rice fields to the Lovina city center and the beach. However, we rented villa bicycles that we used to travel into town and explore. We found this a good way to get around although you do need to be careful because of the traffic.
This villa allows you to explore, read on the covered porch, and swim in the well kept pool. There were numerous restaurants that we discovered that were easily accessible by bicycle or on foot.
We definitely found ourselves getting used to a relaxing Balinese style of life and we would recommend this villa to people who want to experience life in a safe Balinese village setting.

A beautifull house in a nice location.
A beautifull house on a very nice spot near the centre of Lovina. Lots of space, inside and outside and perfect custumor service by the housekeeper, her husband and the gardener.
In Lovina there are possibilities to spot the dolphins, go snorkling and make daytrips in te north of Bali.

Most enjoyable stay
We have just spent eight great days at Villa the Gaya. The booking process was quick and smooth and the owner provided us with some useful info about what to do in the Lovina area. The free pick up is certainly a bonus and it worked very nicely for us. As for the house, we just loved it. The garden is also delightful and well maintained, and the swimming pool is clean and cosy. The staff, Sri and Mollen, are really friendly and are always ready to help you in anyway you might need. The area is quiet and peaceful (your noisiest neighbours will be the roosters and the pigs!!). We usually walked to the beach and the restaurants and it took us about 15-20 minute slow-paced walk on the road (take a flashlight if after sunset). It’s better to take a shortcut through the ricefield (Mollen will show you the way) but this is not quite an option in the evening. Anyway, there are lots of drivers willing to give you a ride or you can easily rent a motorbike.
So, yes, we think this villa is really great value and would certainly recommend it to anyone.

Lovina Villa
We stayed at the Villa for 6 nights in April. We found the house and garden to be as beautiful as the pictures on the website. We all enjoyed the pool and the surroundings. The grounds keeper Mullen and his wife the housekeeper, Kadek were so kind and helpful. They were so helpful in assisting with daily tasks such as picking up fresh produce at the market in morning, day tours and answering questions. Kadek's pancakes every morning were a big hit with all of us as well.
The owners, Lena and Kumon were also very helpful and easy to work with in terms of the transaction and assisting in transportation. If you want to stay in Lovina you will love this villa.
