I can’t recommend this property enough! From the minute we booked, the hosts were in constant communication for any questions prior to arrival. The check in instructions are exceptionally simple and effective. The house was cleaned a few days in advance of our arrival and she even texted me to ask if we wanted to arrive earlier in the day but sadly we couldn’t.
The house itself had to be one of the best stocked homes we’ve ever stayed in. It has available everything you’d need, from kitchen spices and appliances to indoor and outdoor toys, even an air compressor in the garage for blowing up large beach inflatables.
The hot tub was greatly enjoyed by all of our family and we especially loved the easy beach access. A parking pass was provided for the paid parking areas, which was really thoughtful. You can walk down the sidewalk in front of the house and go through the fence trail to the beach or drive your car around the bend on the other side of the street and park near the stairs. We really enjoyed the trail for all of the wildlife watching and enjoying the view of the water from up high.
The stairs going down to the sand are relatively new and in great shape.
The house itself is located at the end of a quiet dead end street next to a park, so virtually no traffic. Check out process was very minimal and simple. My whole family agrees that this was one of our best trips.

Everything about this rental, including the owner’s communication, was by far the best rental we’ve ever stayed at. It was obvious that this is not just a rental but a very cared for home. Anything needed for the beach was there. We were so pleasantly surprised. Thanks for sharing your place with us! Our family had an amazing time!

Great home and location! Right at Lake Michigan and Lake Muskegon. Beautiful beaches! Many things available to do nearby. Plenty of restaurants and grocery stores! Love the yard at this home, and all the amenities by being stocked! Our family loved it there!❤️

The property was well maintained and stocked with "cottage" necessities. The location was nice and quiet yet close to Lake Michigan. The hosts were very accommodating and let us move back our check out time since the kids and grandkids had a later flight departure time. Had a great time and the weather was very cooperative.

This was our family’s second stay at Sunsets on Sherman and it was, again, a great vacation. The home has everything we needed and the location is just a short walk to Lake Michigan. The owners, Valerie and Sean, communicated with us well, and even made sure we knew about the local fireworks.

We had a wonderful time with our kids and grandkids at Sunsets on Sherman. The stay could not have been better. The home is beautiful and easily accommodated 10 of us - from age 66 to 10 months. The hosts provided plenty of entertainment for the youngsters, and they especially enjoyed running around in the backyard. The home is a short walk away from the shore of Lake Michigan, and everyone enjoyed being on the beach and in the water. There’s also a nearby park where the kids enjoyed playing. It has pickle all courts for the adults, too. There’s plenty to do in the community as well. Everyone had a great time and we hope to return again. The hosts were outstanding and made sure that everything was going well during our stay.

The whole place was very warm and inviting. Love the fact that is was a couple minute walk to the beach which was not crowed and clean, great place for your dog to run and play and minutes away for any attraction like the submarine museum, light houses and fishing. Owners texted me the day before and said we can come before check in time and text me again stating no rush to check out due to no renters behind us which was nice to chill in the morning before packing up and headed out the door.
I can not wait to go back

I went on this trip with my family of 5, my mom and brother. There was plenty of room for us and the house was so cute with the beach decorating. The house was very clean. they had beach chairs and toys for the kids which worked perfectly at the beach. It is right across the street from one beach and right down the street from the Pere Marquette. We loved the house and trip, would go again!

The cottage and location were great, this would have been five stars across the board except there was a plumbing issue the owner was unable to resolve prior to checkin which resulted in non stop dripping water in the main floor shower/tub.
10.0 / 10.0
The house was very spacious and provided all the necessities we needed (especially the beach equipment). The property was a 2 min walk to the beach and another beach was just a short 5 minute drive with the Deck restaurant close by. The owners did a great job communicating and were available as needed. We would definitely come back!

Our family of five adults and two dogs had a great time at this home. The dog beach is a short walk down the dunes and we spent lots of time there. The house was very clean and the backyard was very peaceful. We enjoyed our stay.

Family fun in the large backyard. Our little grandson enjoyed playing out there! Day trips to Grand Haven, Holland, Windmill Gardens, Lewis Adventure Farm and Zoo and Michigan Adventures were so much fun. Eating out at The Deck on Pere Marquette beach was great and a unique experience.
Be aware that there was not much of a beach view out the front window/porch, but it was only a short walk to it. Also, going to the dog beach is quite a steep climb down and up the dune. There are no steps.
The house was very clean and has just about everything needed. The owners were attentive and even offered us a small refund because the fridge downstairs was not working properly. The hot tub was great and used almost each evening by the adults. A wonderful family trip!

We had a fantastic stay at Sean and Valerie’s place. The house was perfect for our needs. Plenty of space for our family. Beautiful back yard that we used for playing yard games. The hot tub was a lovely bonus. So close to the beach - just a short walk or a bike ride to the larger beach. The kitchen was nicely outfitted as well which allowed us to cook most of our meals at home and we enjoyed eating together on the back deck. All around just great!

We came to Michigan to stay for a week to visit family. The house was well equipped and had everything we needed for our stay. There were tons of games to play with the kids in our downtime. The yard has beautiful grass and we enjoyed playing bags, cooking out, and the hot tub. We celebrated my 4 year olds birthday on the 4th of July!
There was no beach view out the front window/porch as stated in the description, but it was only a short walk to the beach down a walking path and boardwalks to get to the beach. We also went to beautiful Pere Marquette beach only a short few minute drive and I was thankful to have a parking pass provided by the owners. The neighborhood is nice and neighbors were so kind. We enjoyed the pet friendly beach almost every day we stayed. The owner was amazing and attentive. They even sent me a small refund because the downstairs fridge would not get cold and replaced immediately for the next guest. You can tell they love and care for their rental home.

We’ve stayed at multiple homes along Lake Michigan. This home by far was the best equipped. All we need to bring was some groceries and our clothes. Very clean and well maintained. We will definitely return.

My family of 6 adults, 1 infant, 1 toddler and 1 dog loved our stay at Sunsets on Sherman! The home is very convenient to several different beaches and playgrounds. Having 3 full baths was key for us as it made it possible for each family to have their own. But most important to me was how clean, well maintained, well organized and well appointed the home was (toys, games and beach gear galore!). I also appreciated how responsive and helpful the host was. We had an excellent experience!

Very comfortable for the 8 of us: 4 adults and 4 children. We had one sleep in the lower level with the entertainment center, kitchen, and full bath. My daughter and her 4 children slept on the main floor in three rooms and full bath. My wife and I stayed upstairs in the master bedroom with walk-in closet, reading area, and full bath. Great setting with access to the beach and near the Muskegon pier activities. Saw humming birds, deer, and squirrels (some black squirrels) from the back deck. Many games and toys for indoor and outdoor use for the children, including hammocks to hang on mature trees. They also had several DVDs for children of varying ages. Hot tub was a plus, especially on the cooler days at the front end of our stay. Owners are friendly and attentive and personally answered all of my questions. Altogether a great place to stay. We would highly recommend.

Sunsets on Sherman was perfect for our family vacation. The house was clean and fully stocked. The location was ideal with a small beach and playgrounds in walking distance. Two other beaches and downtown Muskegon were an easy drive or bike ride away. We could not have asked for a better stay!

Wow! What a great property. We were blown away by the amount of items available for our use during our stay. Our small kids (4 and 2) made use of the closet full of toys, books, and games. There are tons of beach and outdoor items too. The rooms are exactly as described and provided lots of space to spread out. The basement was a great location to eat family dinners and watch a movie or play a game. We ate most of our meals outside on the big table. The location is ideal. The boardwalk provides great views - we walked on it for almost every sunset of our stay. The beach was accessible during our stay - a slight walk down the hill since the boardwalk is washed out at the bottom but everyone was able to do it. There is also a large park right next to the property. There is a beautiful beach a 5 min drive away that we loved. This is also a great location to day trip to Sleeping Bear Dunes or the Grand Haven/Holland areas. We were so happy we stayed in this location, which was not busy. Don't hesitate to book this vacation home - the owners were caring and thoughtful which definitely showed throughout the home. Thanks for a great stay!

Family Vacay
We were very impressed with the cleanliness of the house and the amenities offered. The garage is stocked with everything you need for a good time at or near the beach. The house was in great shape and everyone really enjoyed the hot tub and deck in the backyard. The house is in proximity to the beach and we enjoyed walking over for mornings and sunsets at the beach. We spent a couple days exploring and went to PJ Hoffmaster and Pere Marquette beaches which were a short drive away. The hosts were great and easy to reach with any issue/questions. We would highly recommend this house to anyone looking to spend some quality family time together.

Great Beach Vacation
We stayed during 4th of July week and had a fantastic time. The house is even better than pictured and has basically everything you could need on vacation (we packed things we didn’t end up needing because the house had them). The deck in the backyard is great for eating and hanging out, as is the basement. The bedrooms are all comfortable. The only bummer was that the stairs are washed out at the beach across the street. You can still get to the beach if you are able bodied, but it was tricky carrying a baby and with my elderly mom. On the plus side, Pere Marquette beach is less than 5 mins in the car and is a great beach with no bluff/dunes to worry about. Any questions we had, Valerie was quick to answer and super helpful. Overall, this is a great house, with a great host and I’d recommend to anyone looking for a beach vacation.

Great location for beach vacation
Family plus dogs enjoyed our week at Sunsets on Sherman. Dog beach was super close (even though the boardwalk to beach was closed). We had plenty of space in this well equipped house. Enjoyed rocking on the front porch and soaking in the hot tub. Several great beaches nearby. Very attentive owners.

Adult sibling get together
We rented this home to be close to a sibling turning 80. There were 5 of us, but there was room for more. We didn't even use the walkout basement of the home, which was like a mini-apartment with kitchenette, full bathroom, and living area with fold out couch. One couple took the master suite upstairs, and 3 other adults each had their own room. All of us enjoyed the patio out back of the main floor, sitting on the deck and loving the terrific trees and yard. We also liked the front porch for sitting - and the living room for playing games. The home is right across from a park that borders the lake - although steps going down to lake are currently washed out, the view and walking paths were lovely. We also enjoyed biking to nearby parks, including a lakeside one. Communication was absolutely excellent with hosts. The home is not very close to stores or restaurants (in terms of walking distance) but we had brought food for breakfast and lunch, and we planned on driving to certain restaurants so the location was ideal.

Great house with great location near the beach. Kids loved the beach of course but also the hot tub and plenty of room in yard to play. Walkout basement is perfect for entertaining inside and out. House is well kept up and large enough to fit a larger group.

Can’t stop raving
Seven of my high school classmates from 50 years ago met for three days. The house fit our needs perfectly. The twin beds in two of the rooms and spare in the master allowed all of us women to sleep in our own bed. We cooked each evening and the kitchen was well equipped. The back deck was an excellent spot to hang out and eat. The close proximity to the park was perfect. We loved walking along the beach or the boardwalks that climb the dunes. We wouldn’t change a thing about our stay. Valerie was a great communicator and even let us move in a little earlier in the day because the house was ready. Great hosts, great house, great location.

All 10 of us enjoyed the stay and loved the nearby walk to the beach where walkways, waves and a playground filled our mornings. The home was well supplied and cabinets marked. The owners stayed in contact via text message to ask if we needed anything. We will recommend this home to others most definitely!

Not only is the house super clean and located close to parks, bike paths and the beach; the owners also do a phenomenal job of making sure you have everything you need to enjoy your vacation. They have all the beach toys, chairs and towels you need along with everything you need in the kitchen. Overall, it was a really great experience!

Fantastic week
Our family had a great week staying at this very comfortable home right next to Lake Michigan. The house is beautifully decorated and it had everything one would want in a rental home. Comfortable beds, two full kitchens, great basement, double decker outside deck with two grills and a hot tub. We even saw deer running through the backyard in the evening and morning. The owners were also very responsive to a couple questions we had. Highly recommended

Dog friendly family vacation house
My husband and I, kids 7, 9 and 11, dog and my in-laws stayed for a week in July. The house is as pictured and has lots of kid friendly games and books which was a sweet touch. It’s very close to the dog friendly beach which our pup loved! It is a bit of a steep climb down the dune to the water which was fine for us but not as inviting for my mother in law. We enjoyed our stay, our only criticism being the queen bed on the 1st floor was fairly uncomfortable. Its probably fine for kids but for two adults it was a bit rough. My in-laws said they were very comfortable in the upstairs suite. Owners were very welcoming, easy to contact and there was even a special treat waiting for our pup upon arrival. I would definitely recommend.
