"La Casa De Madera" Near the El-Ceritto boarder is a custom handcrafted tiny/small house that is unique and one of a kind. Designed and built by Conscious Construction this house was built largely from reclaimed, re-purposed, and custom milled wood. Occupying a wonderful small piece of land where an eighty year old carriage house once stood. The original redwood siding from the carriage house was re-purposed and now clads some of the interior walls of the house giving a feel and texture you rarely see. The new house has magnificent San Francisco Bay views. Designed to capture the views of the Golden Gate Bridge and the beautiful sunsets overlooking brooks island and the expansive bay views. It was also designed to provide privacy with all the comforts of a home. From the easily accessible sleeping loft you can enjoy wonderful southern views with a glimpse of both the Bay Bridge and the Golden Gate Bridge. The kitchen has a two burner gas stove with a beautiful live edge counter top empathizing the organic feel of the space. Custom tiled shower and Alaskan yellow cedar clad the bathroom walls.

While in the living space you can sit in the love- seat (which doubles as a sofa bed), and enjoy the flat screen TV and full Wi-Fi access. There is also a mini gas fire place heater to enjoy on cold San Francisco bay nights.
Although unique and custom, this house is very practical and efficient. It's perfect for people visiting the area for a short or extended stay, as it is a self-sufficient house with all the comforts of home. It's minutes form the freeway access, with only a short drive to Berkeley, Oakland, Marin, and San Francisco. The house is a 12 minute walk to the El-Cerrito Natural Grocery which is a community gathering spot, and
20 minute walk to Bart. In 8 minutes you can drive to the new ferry terminal in Richmond and be in San Francisco in no time! Meeting all your bay area needs the "Casa De Madera", is a must!

We ask only the most responsible and serious guests inquire. This house was designed and crafted with a lot of care and love. We only want guests who can appreciate and respect the space. Absolutely no parties are allowed.

Clever construction. Trouble getting key. No coffee. I hate shower gel. Super nice sauna. Clean, lots of towels. View of the bay is charming. Way too much noise at night.

I was in town for work, so "The Wood House" was perfect for what I needed. The house is clean, easily accessible, with what I felt was safe street parking, and well appointed. Shower pressure is wonderful and for once, you'll be supplied with pour over coffee capabilities and not the dreaded Keurig. That checked two very important boxes for me while traveling. As others have stated, the loft bed isn't the most comfortable, kind of like a futon mat. I found that the love seat pull out bed was more comfortable. Milkah communicated clearly and quickly and overall, my stay was very good. I would definitely stay there again.

Small clean wooden house with a beautiful view from the top window. There were plenty of towels, blankets, and cookware for my 2-night stay. Overall, it’s a nice, safe neighborhood, and I had no issues.

This refuge was the perfect location for us over the days that we were there. It is a nice walk to restaurants. It was clean, and the view from both the main level and the loft was exceptional!

A super cute cabin close to east bay, was only a 30 minute drive to SF but we flew in so we took Bart and Uber. Bart station was very close! I saw some reviews about it being really small; it is, but me and my boyfriend (he’s 6 ft) really had no troubles. I was never in the property long enough to very much care, in fact; we loved it! Thank you for hosting us and if you’re going to the bay, definitely stay here!! P.S. the view is gorgeous!

Stayed in this lovely tiny house for about 10 days - I was in town for work. It was perfect for just me! It was very clean and well maintained/built. I met the owner on the first day - Jeff - he was super nice and we discussed construction as we are both in the industry and he said that he had built the little place. Impressive. He has a beautiful garden blooming wonderfully this time of year - you can smell the jasmine as you're walking up the stairs. The flowers and succulents were such a nice view out of the kitchen window while doing dishes lol The weather was beautiful so I kept the door and windows open most of the time - this helped at night since I am a hot sleeper. Plenty of towels, sheets, blankets and the kitchen was well stocked with pots, pans and cooking utensils. I was able to cook hot meals on a gas cooktop - which I loved (no microwave, something to keep in mind if you prefer that but I don't mind) The bathroom was roomy, with great water pressure and plenty of hot water. The bed is up on a loft, and was really cozy (and a dreamy view of the bay bridge) - especially during the rain storms when the rain's hitting the roof. Jeff kept to himself and checked in every once in a while - street parking is available in front of the home that was always free which I really appreciated. Good restaurants nearby, grocery stores. 25 mins to Six Flags if you're into that (I am so that was awesome) and about 30 min to airport (w no traffic) 10 out of 10 would recommend!

Very clean, nice small house. It has everything you need. The bed could have been a little more comfortable as it doesn’t seem like a full mattress but that is me trying to find something that it could improve on. The only real issue was not getting to the house until late (10 pm) and still did not have any details on the wifi until I messaged the property manager again which she replied that same night but at that point we had already gone to bed. I recommend sending the wifi info in the morning of the stay in case people get in late. That being said, I would definitely recommend staying here as well as go back.

Overall I had a great stay. The neighborhood is quiet and close to hiking trails. Tons of natural light. The views and ambience are wonderful. I loved the shower, great water pressure! There was an issue getting the heater to work when I first got there, but it was fixed within a couple hours. Personally I’d prefer to have a microwave, but the stovetop was fine too. Agree with another review that says the mattress could use a refresh.

It was clear that the owners put a lot of thought and effort into this unique home. The view over the Bay to Golden Gate is the first thing you see when opening your eyes in their comfy loft bed. It’s not a big space, more minimal. The surrounding gardens and fountain made the space for me.

There is so much to like about this guest house. It's a very well constructed space with a cozy feel. The neighborhood is very quiet, which is great, and Uber's arrive quite quickly which is really nice. We enjoyed stay and found the process very easy.

We really loved the wood house. We stayed here for move in day at UC Berkeley for my boyfriend’s daughter. It’s the perfect distance from the university and great to get away from the business surrounding the school. It was nice and cozy. Quiet neighborhood and a beautiful view. We will definitely stay here again.

Everything a out the place was great, with the exception for the mattress. The house was very nice and the views from the house were awesome too. It was great being able to cook or eat out as we wanted. Like stated previously, the bed in the loft was not very comfortable but other than that the house was amazing.

Definitely very small. I am only 5'6 and my wife is even smaller and we both bumped our heads during the trip. The house itself looks exactly as pictured but the surrounding house/yard had been taken over by weeds and wouldn't have been enjoyable or accessible. The location itself was nice because it was close to so many things like restaurants, stores, shops and the freeway. The bed was uncomfortable and the house needed a cleaning. There were stains on the curtains, hair on the mattress, stains on the pillows and dust/dirt everywhere. My wife used a clorox wipe on the dining table provided and it turned black. Also the internet didn't work.

Everything about this property matches the pics and description, it’s a beautifully done tiny home. The privacy fence put up between it and the homeowner is mostly effective in creating a private area for you to stay. I would say the comments/complaints about the bed were also fairly accurate. The stairs up to loft area are a bit inconsistent with spacing, making it slightly more difficult to judge your footing. The mattress could use an egg crate for a bit more cushioning. Overall the stay was nice, quiet and we felt very safe with the homeowner and the neighborhood! I would stay again if mattress was made to be more comfy!
