About this house rental
Our home overlooks the Black River steps away from downtown South Haven and a 7 minute stroll along the Riverwalk to South Beach and the South Haven Lighthouse.
The first level of our home is barrier-free accessible and beach cottage decorated with all of the amenities you need for a relaxing beach holiday with the convenience of South Haven’s shops and restaurants literally around the corner.
We offer barrier-free access to:
2 bedrooms, 1 queen and 1 with twin beds, and 1 full bath
Full kitchen with all necessary preparation utensils, dinnerware and outdoor grill
All linens and towels are provided. Just bring your favorite beach towel!
Free WiFi, Cable TV and DVD Player
Large, screened front porch for dining, relaxing and viewing the boats in South Haven’s active harbor
Off-Street parking.
We’re ideally suited for a small family of 4 or 4 adults willing to share.
South Haven becomes a winter wonderland typically beginning over the holiday season. Cross country skiing, snowshoeing, ice skating and sledding are some of the nearby activities, particularly during Ice Breaker Fest in February!
In season, generally from Memorial to Labor Day weekends, we prefer weekly rentals, beginning Friday or Saturday, at 15% off of our daily rate for 7 days or more.
Daily rates of (2 day minimum) may be available on request. Please call for availability if the calendar is uncooperative:).
Off season, generally September 15 - May 15, rates are discounted 30-50%.
Check in is after 3:00pm and check out is by 11:00am.
All fees (cleaning, etc.) are included in the weekly rate.

This apartment was perfect for our needs. Close to town and in a very quaint neighborhood. We had everything we needed . We also had access to beach chairs umbrellas coolers and anything we needed for beach days! Only slight complaint was the mattress on the queen bed but not a deal breaker. Had a wonderful time here drinking our coffee on the porch overlooking the harbor

This is our second stay at crimson sun and we love it! The perfect location to walk into town or to the beach, quiet at night and the best hosts. The home is always clean and comfortable. Check in is super easy and the gardens around the home are perfect for pictures!

We recently stayed at this lovely home with our two young children, aged four and six, and had a wonderful experience. The house was perfect for our family. It was clean, cozy, and had everything we needed for a comfortable stay. The hosts went above and beyond to make our stay enjoyable—they provided clean towels, beach toys, and even activities to keep the kids entertained.
The garden was beautiful and added to the charm of the place. The hosts were incredibly kind, friendly, and accommodating, making us feel right at home. We highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a warm and welcoming stay. We would definitely come back

We loved our week in South Haven! The house was exactly as pictured and described. It was a perfect location for walking to the beach and to downtown. John, Sally and Dan were so kind and helpful throughout the entire week. Our children loved exploring their beautiful garden. We will definitely be back!

We had an amazing two night stay here while I was in town for a HDPE event at Gingerman Raceway. The drive was less than 12 minutes to Gingerman and within walking distance of everything downtown South Haven including the beach. Terrific location, clean, and well maintained. Lovely garden as well. I also drive a lowered car and it was able to clear the driveway entry, just barely!

The location was absolutely fantastic and our hosts were so amazing. They brought us fresh cut flowers from their beautiful garden, made sure we were set and then left us alone. Easy keypad check-in, comfortable and clean space, and walking distance to everything we wanted to do in SoHa! We will definitely be back!!

Nice property with a beautiful sprawling garden throughout the yard. It's a bit cramped inside, but you want to get out to the beach anyway! We were given a fresh bunch of flowers, which was nice. Communication with the owners was good, and we received good restaurant suggestions. The ceiling is not the most soundproof, and it's quite easy to hear walking from the upstairs where the owners stay. Some were pretty late at night. But I have very sensitive hearing, so it may not be an issue for most people. And I wouldn't consider the noise excessive.

After a wonderful stay last year, my husband and I returned for another lovely weekend in this beautifully appointed home away from home. You'll get a good night's sleep in the comfortable bedrooms and the kitchen is well stocked with cooking supplies. It is a special place, conveniently located for walking downtown or to the lake and with great views of the river from the comfort of the screened porch. We looked forward to our stay and hope to make it an annual visit!

Spent a long weekend in South Haven with my husband and kids. The lake house was perfect. Super clean and very comfortable. Loved the view from the porch and the garden. Kitchen has everything we needed, especially appreciated the tea and coffee! The beach, shops, and restaurants were just a short walk to town. Food options were great. Enjoyed the farmers market, ice cream, and Italian restaurants. Our favorite memory was flying kites on the beach. Loved this trip!!

Loved this place, absolutely beautiful and the description is perfect. We enjoyed the view and the garden is just gorgeous and well taken care of. The accommodation was great and had everything you could possibly need. Truly hope to go back again !!!! Can’t say enough good things about our stay and the lovely town as well as our hosts.

Clean and bright first floor property at the end of a quiet street. The queen bed is very comfy! Kitchen is stocked with the essentials for cooking meals. The screened in porch has really great views of the marina. Downtown is a few blocks away, make sure to make reservations for dinner -we almost didn't get in! The south beach is a short walk or has some public parking available, my 5 year old had no trouble walking wherever we went and he slept great! We had a great stay and will definitely be back. The owners were great with response times when we booked and answered any questions we had, they made our stay very easy.

Had a wonderful couple of days in South Haven celebrating my sister’s birthday. Beautiful house with pristine yard. The location was near shop’s & lighthouse…easy & pretty walk! We’ll definitely be back to visit!

Our rental was a great mix of modern conveniences and beachy-antique decorating. The garden is lovely and we were gifted with fresh-cut flowers. It truly is a brief walk to either beach or downtown. Although in town, being located at the end of the street it seems more private. Beautiful overall and very clean.

The apartment was fabulous. Great size, clean, bathroom huge. The grounds are just gorgeous. Beautiful flowers and fresh flowers in the apartment. Walking distance to the main street with shops and restaurants.

Everything in this lovely rental was just as advertised. Neat, clean, well-appointed kitchen, easily walkable to downtown shopping and restaurants as well as South Beach and the lighthouse. The grounds/gardens are stunning 😍, and Dan is more than happy to let guests wander appreciatively. Hosts are right upstairs if you have a question and were very polite and responsive. The only suggestion I would make is a more comfy couch with a good reading light. Thanks for a great getaway!

This was our second visit and it felt like coming home. Loved sitting on the screened porch, imagining life in the past along the river. We cannot say enough about the clean and homey setting. The flowers were still in full bloom and we were lucky to see 2 peacocks stroll by as we had coffee on the porch. We always visit Pilgrim Haven and the dunes at Saugatuck to get back to nature. Came back fully relaxed and cannot wait to visit again. John, Sally and Dan are so nice to visit with!

A wonderful cottage-y vibe in a fantastic location (about a 5 minute walk to downtown, 10 minutes along the river to the beach). The property is well-maintained and pretty much has everything you could possibly want or need. The grounds are absolutely amazing, with all kinds of flora and fauna that are meticulously cared for. Fantastic view of the Black River, and lots of boats in the marina. Also, the hosts, John, Sally, and Dan DeCardy, are some of the nicest people. We've stayed here twice and look forward to our next visit!

My wife and I stayed in early August 2023 for one week. The unit was very clean and even better than described. The host family lives onsite and checked with us several times to make sure that everything was okay. This is in a great location that is close to the downtown and the beach. We really enjoyed our stay and would not hesitate to book this unit again!

Our stay at this property was wonderful. The location couldn’t have been better, with views from the screened in porch of the channel and easy access to get to the boardwalk/beach. We ate all of our meals at the table on the porch. Our children loved the porch swing and admiring the many flowers/garden on the property. They also had everything we needed to cook as well as books and games for the kiddos. Such a wonderful experience, we would definitely stay again!

Everything was wonderful. I planned a 4 day stay here in August but it was too cold to swim in the lake. Luckily we found enough fun stuff to do around town and in the house that we had a great vacay.

We stayed at this lovely rental for a mother/daughter weekend. The home has a beautiful hillside garden and is decorated inside with unique, cozy touches. It has everything you'd need! We sipped coffee on the screened in porch, walked to the beach and just relaxed. Looking forward to another visit!

The property was clean and in a great location near South Beach. We were in the downstairs portion of the house. There was a nice front porch overlooking the black river and boat docks close to the lake. I had my coffee and read my morning paper there each day.
Good communication with the owners throughout the stay.
My daughter and son-in-law from New York stayed with us, so it was fine for 4 adults. Used the grill for a couple of meals and the kitchen has all you need.
We had a very pleasant stay at this location for a very cool week in June in Western Michigan.

I had always noticed this property while walking out to the lighthouse and I mentioned how nice it would be to stay there. I was thrilled when I found it on VRBO. It was everything I imagined it would be.... relaxing, super clean, beautiful view and friendly owners. We loved the manicured grounds and especially the rocks!!! Cannot wait to visit again.

We were delighted as soon as we walked in the door of this lovely home away from home. The rooms and amenities were perfect. The beds are super comfortable. And the screened porch looking out over the Black River is such a special spot for relaxing. There is also a lovely garden that was starting its spring bloom with beautiful tulips. We hope to stay here again in the not too distant future.

100/10 would recommend. It was a perfect short getaway for this city couple. It was cozy, comfortable and perfect. It was extremely peaceful and minutes away from the beach. Would definitely book again.
