Our family had the most delightful and comfortable stay in this magical chalet in the woods! Everything we could have needed and more was available. The location could not have been better!
Thank you for such a wonderful week!

Charming “gingerbread” cottage, stocked with all supplies and amenities you need. Short walk across the quiet country road to a sweet shared private beach (lots of rocks). Amazing sunsets, lovely country driving, close to short and longer daytrip options.

The Chalet is loaded with character. Loved sitting on the front porch enjoying a cup of coffee.
The owner has tried, and I think, succeeded in meeting the diverse needs of a wide variety of renters. From cooking utensils for the cook, and electric fireplace for chilly nights, a commercial washer and dryer for the beach towels to a sand wagon for the little ones heading to the beach. We really enjoyed it.

Great family getaway
This cottage lived up to expectations based on the listing and reviews from prior guests. Water shoes are definitely recommended at this section of beach (and some are provided at the cottage if you don't bring your own). Overall, it was a wonderful family vacation and the numerous amenities provided greatly aided in ensuring it went smoothly.

Great time second time around
This is our second time at this cottage and we had a relaxing and enjoyable time. Because we were so pleased with our first stay, we decided to book this cottage again, and couldn't be happier with the pros of coming back. We knew what to expect (e.g. fully-equipped kitchen, water toys for the kids, board games, etc.), so we packed a bit less this time, which was great! It also helped to know from our first stay some of the local spots to get goods - like fresh fish, soft serve ice cream, etc.
The cottage was clean and tidy like before. The couch had been updated/replaced. There was also a jug of complimentary fresh water when we arrived as there had been a water advisory for Lafontaine at the time.
Thanks for making our summer vacation so pleasant, Janet!

Cottage in nature just what we wanted
This spacious property surrounded by beautiful trees only minutes from the beach was just what we were hoping for. We enjoyed the privacy and the true cottage feel. You can tell there was a lot of attention paid to details in the layout and presentation of the cottage. The upstairs balcony was a hit with everyone. The trees, birds and foxes, big front and backyards, firepit and just being in a beautiful natural area was most appreciated.

Shady Beach Retreat
A cozy, authentic old-timey style cottage with everything you need for a comfortable stay. A very short pleasant walk to the not-at-all-crowded beach (and we were there during a perfect sunny August week.) Shady and cool yard to come back to. There is a small grocery store, LCBO and deli close by, as well as being a short 15 minute drive into Midland/Penetangueshene. Owner was great to deal with - very prompt and friendly communications. All in all, a great value!

Very pleasant stay
The cottage was in great condition when we arrived, and had everything as advertised. Everything was well thought of and organized (kitchen equipment, utensils, pots, pans, hanging rods, even night lights). The property has the charm of a cottage yet the comfort of a functional house.
Location was great - quiet and just a couple of mins of walk to a beach which wasn't busy. The water shoes (as well as beach wagon and toys) provided by the owner came in handy!
We truly enjoyed our stay at this cottage and felt quite relaxed. We would consider booking this again if we want to stay in the area in the future.

I would certainly recommend the cottage to anyone coming to the area.

The best place we have stayed
It's exactly as described. It's compact and well laid out. There are extras when you arrive like knives that actually cut and frying pans that aren't paper thin. Dish soap was dropped off as they had run out. We really didn't need our kitchen box with which we always travel as you usually can't depend on the location. Janet and Joe worked to ensure that our experience was above expectations.

Extremely helpful hosts
Janet went out of her way to make our stay pleasurable. There were a few incidents like the dvd that wasn’t wired properly or the fuse on the second floor that required attention but Janet went out of her way to help us.
There were a lot of utensils and the kitchen knives were quality knives.
Great place perfect size for our family of 4

A week at this cozy chalet-style cottage not even two minutes' walk from a stunning Georgian Bay beach was just what we needed. The cottage is nicely decorated and had everything we needed for a family of four: comfy beds, relaxing outdoor spaces, well-equipped kitchen and BBQ, clean bathrooms, good laundry, beach equipment and outdoor games, adult bikes, and charming fire pit area. We had been planning to bring two other adults but they cancelled last-minute. We were OK with that, as the living space may not have worked for that many adults if you wanted to spend some time inside, especially if any needed to work separately somewhere. The beach. Absolutely beautiful sand, clear warm water, lovely dunes, stunning views towards Blue Mountain and the rest of the Escarpment, not too many motorized watercraft, and not too crowded. The lack of crowds could be due to extremely strict parking restrictions in place for a Covid summer where the township is ticketing anyone without a residents' permit. The noise. So the view and water and sand were stunning. However the one drawback of the beach was that people brought their own loud music. There was usually enough space or sound from the waves to drown it out, but not every time. The hosts of course have no control over this, but it is important to note that this is not a place for relaxing in silence on the beach. The area. This a lovely part of the province for driving around and visiting interesting places. Wahnekawaning Beach and Balm Beach are particularly charming. Awenda Park is quite close and great for walking in the forest and a different beach day. Penetang and Midland are close by and nice for strolling and visiting shops. The farmland around the area is beautiful with rolling hills and varied forests. The host. Janet was great. She answered questions quickly before the visit and provided all the info we needed. When we arrived, the fridge seal had come off and she arranged to have it fixed while we were there. Very attentive. All in all, a great week in a cozy cottage very close to the beach in an interesting part of the province. Highly recommended.

It was overall a very very enjoyable stay. Having the bikes was a great bonus. Inside the cottage was clean and had everything you need. All room were charmimg, each with added touches. The master bedroom with walk out was great, mornin coffee, & the bed so comfy. If there was a hot tub it be even better but not if it takes away the cottage charm. Thank you for having us, paul & mac.

Fairy House
I loved the enchanted forest feeling when you drive up to the cottage but I could of done with out the spiders! The cottage itself was beautiful and big enough for the 5 of us. I would of liked more cupboard space to put our groceries but the air conditioning upstairs was a plus! We did not have to contact the owners during our stay so I can’t comment on that. Overall we had a wonderful stay and have made many new memorable memories! Would definitely recommend this cottage!

Magical cottage experience.
Our stay was beautiful, it's a very nice space and the property is very unique, with a bit of quirkiness and fun to the front yard. The cottage was very clean and tidy and well stocked with everything you might need for a proper cottage experience. Everything was the spot on to the listing. You need to cross the road to and walk for 2 minutes to get to the water but the beach is very private with only a handful of cottages that use it. We spent some time in Tiny Beaches as well that has a canteen and bar as well which was a 15 minute drive from the cottage. Both us and our daughter had a great time.

Wildwood Wonderful
Wildwood Chalet is situated in a wooded lot that is very private and peaceful. The Chalet itself is very clean and well equipped with all the necessities for a comfortable stay. Our family of 6 lacked nothing during the time we spent at Wildwood. The cottage is as advertised with access to the beach only a couple of minutes walk along a trail that is nearby. Another beach area very close is within a couple of minutes drive and has a children's playground adjacent to it with swings and slides. The thoughtfulness of Janet and Joe in small items such as the marshmallow roasting sticks, children's beach toys, and beach chairs, games etc. were all well enjoyed and appreciated. There are a couple of binders that provide information on activities and attractions in the area to help you plan for any day trips. " Very Helpful" .The area where the cottage is situated is very nice, the beach and clean beautiful waters of Georgian Bay were amazing. Janet was always available and very helpful with any questions we had. Thank you so much, our family had a wonderful time at Wildwood.

We will definitely be coming back. What a gem!
We had a wonderful stay at Wildwood. When we arrived, we were stunned by how beautiful the trees around the chalet looked, all covered in snow. We immediately dropped off our stuff so that we could get some snowshoeing in on the beach, which we were happy to find was, as advertised, just a couple of minutes’ walk from the chalet. The beach had a great view of Collingwood’s Blue Mountains to the West, and Christian Island to the Northwest. On our second day, we went cross-country skiing at Awenda Provincial Park, just a few km away. The groomed trails include beautiful views of Georgian Bay and it may be because it was cold, but we had the park almost entirely to ourselves.
The chalet was super clean and cozy, and had all the amenities we needed, including the dryer which was handy for our damp ski pants. And we appreciated the binder that lists all the activities and places to see in the region. We were up there to ski and snowshoe so didn’t have time to do much more, but we did check out the fine food store in the nearby town of Lafontaine and bought some delicious home-made scones and cookies. Thank you, Janet and Joe for providing us with all the information we needed before our stay, and for making our stay so comfortable. We will definitely be coming back and can’t wait to be on that beach in the summer!
