About this cottage rental

The Hawthorns is a spacious and well equipped self-catering cottage situated with two other cottages in a recently renovated barn conversion. Close to the spectacular west coast of the Isle of Man with coastal paths, secluded bays, hills and panoramic views on the doorstep. It is the perfect location for those looking for a quiet and peaceful base to experience the great outdoors.

The Hawthorns sleeps six people in three bedrooms, which are on the ground floor. Two of the bedrooms can be configured either as a super-king double room, or as a twin bedroom. The first floor offers beautiful countryside views with a fully equipped kitchen/dining room, and a large high ceiling living room with exposed beams and a wood burning stove. There is underfloor heating powered by an air source heat pump.

The cottage shares a gym, sauna and steam room with the other cottages in the barn conversion which can be booked for private use at various times during your stay at no extra cost.

For larger groups this property can be booked alongside The Swallows and The Fuchsias which are interlinking and each also sleep 6 people.

Kitchen/Dining area: Located on the first floor, Electric oven, electric hob, fridge, freezer, washing machine, dishwasher, microwave, dining table & six chairs

Lounge: Located on the first floor. Wood burning stove, two settees, TV & DVD player, coffee table.

Bedroom 1: Ziplink beds that can be configured as either a Twin or Super-King size double bed, bedside cabinets, dressing table, wardrobe

Ensuite: Bath with shower over, w.c., basin and vanity unit

Bedroom 2: Ziplink beds that can be configured as either a Twin or Super-King size double bed, bedside cabinets, chest of drawers, wardrobe

Bedroom 3: Twin beds, dressing table, wardrobe

Family Bathroom: Wetroom on ground floor, with shower, WC and wash hand basin with vanity unit.

Cloakroom: Situated on first floor containing WC and wash hand basin with vanity unit.

Parking: Parking available in the car park for the cottages. Including Electric car charge point.

Changeover Day: Friday - arrival 4:00pm - departure 10:00am

Pets: No pets accepted

Power & Heating: Electricity included

Leisure area: With gym (open 8am - 8pm), Steam room, Sauna and Hot tub (open 9am - 8pm, later by request). Towels are provided. Induction to facilities required.

Wifi: Free Wifi included

Bedding & Linen: Bed linen and towels provided, please bring your own beach towels

Baby Equipment: Cot and High chair available to hire at additional cost.

Shop: 2 ml Pub: 2 ml Bus stop: 0.2 ml

Damage: Important! We are committed to protecting our properties which is why we now take a £35 fee from each booking as a damage waiver. This is included in the price you pay and covers you for up to £500 worth of accidental damages to the property that could occur whilst you are staying.

The Hawthorns was perfect for us. The kids loved it. It was clean, cosy and has amazing views. Having the gym and sauna was incredible too. David the owner could not have been kinder or more helpful to us during our stay (even helping is change our car tyre). A great location on the island for exploring everything.

We were a group of 6 girls celebrating a big birthday over a bank holiday weekend and so came loaded with lots of lovely food and drinks. Having been out for a meal in Peel the location was perfect. The kitchens, bedrooms and bathrooms were all comfortable and well equipped (although we did lack a spatula). On the Sunday we booked a two hour private session in the spa, however, sadly the jacuzzi was unusable due to the high levels of chlorine. Our eyes were stinging and streaming so we could not bear more than 5 minutes sat in it. There also seemed to be a fake tan scum and some unidentifiable floaty bits. We did make use of the sauna and steam room but were still feeling the sting from the jacuzzi experience. We were also a little peturbed by the notice in the living room warning that the door at the end adjoins with a bedroom next door where we were told a new baby was staying. However, we moved our celebrations to the kitchen and hope that we did not cause any disturbance to the other visitors. We did have a wonderful weekend though overall.

We stayed at the Hawthorns for 4 nights over Easter. We had no problem finding it and arrival procedures were straight forward. The property has 3 good sized bedrooms, two bathrooms plus a separate toilet and a good sized lounge and kitchen.The situation was beautiful and an added bonus was the Spa & gym including hot tub, sauna and steam room - all straight forward to operate. The only downside really is the lack of taxis around Peel however we did find one guy who was very helpful. Otherwise someone needs to drive if you want to go out for the night. The owners were very friendly and helpful and we would definitely return

The property is fantastic, I would just recommend that Island Escapes are better at communicating when questions are asked through the booking process.

As I said in the form I filled in before leaving, we find Ballacallin Court an excellent base with good facilities. Please stop asking for more reviews as it's spoiling the experience.
