I really liked the decoration of the place, the people I could talk to in the hostel were very nice, you also have access to coffee in the kitchen and I found it comfortable.

The location is nice! Fairbanks is a city where you need a car to get most places, but the hostel is right by the farmers market and some coffee shops, which is a huge plus!

Billie makes the best coffee ever--the hostel is a short block from a cafe,. There is a great kitchen facility, and there are fine outdoor spaces at the hostel. But the very best aspect of the hostel is Billie herself--an accommodating and helpful hostess. Thanks Billie.

very nice place in Denali, free shuttle to the park and downtown
may not worth $360, but it's in summer Alaska, no choice. Bus shuttle connecting the train leaves a bit early.

very good communication and well maintained
the bunk bed doesn’t have a protective rail on the side, could be a little dangerous for the upper bed

I’m an Alaskan illustrator who frequently travels out of anchorage to attend markets and events. This can be difficult outside of the summer months, as accommodations can be VERY expensive, even for a low level motel.
I was very happy to discover Billie’s Backpackers Hostel, where I was able to spend two very comfortable nights for just around $80. It’s an EXCELLENT option for people on a budget. The house is beautiful, and very comfortable. I was assigned the top bunk in a room with 4 other occupied beds. The bed had a great quality mattress, and nice sheets. Bathrooms were clean, and Odor free.
My fellow guests were all friendly, polite, and we all took care not to disturb one another.
Getting in and out was hassle free, overall, it was an excellent experience. I’ll definitely be staying at Billie’s again the next time I’m in Fairbanks.😊

Billie was so welcoming and kind. It was Christmas Eve when I arrived late. Derrick helped me find my way around and showed me the place. He was so helpful as I figured out how to get around and learn the busses. There was plenty of food and hospitality going around for Christmas Day. The room was nice, the bed was comfortable, it was warm (quite necessary in Alaska), and the place is close to the bus lines.
If I had to choose one thing, maybe a microwave or hotplate in the kitchenette. I also didn't like leaving so soon.

Did not eat breakfast.

- Cozy vibe
- Comfortable beds
- The sleeping areas are more tightly packed than they should be, thereby making your sleep prone to even the smallest of disturbances
- There weren't any clear instructions in the house. We didn't know which bathroom to use, where to get the towels.
- The staircase is very squeaky and given its proximity to the rooms, it was a major cause of disturbance
- Cleanliness was not up to the mark: we saw a random t-shirt on our bed and undergarments in the bathroom
- Some snacks / breakfast would be greatly appreciated

The mattress was very comfortable. Wasn't even bothered by the other roommates.
It was difficult getting to the top bunk and I had to use a chair to get on top but it wasn't terrible.

Location is good, people who stayed there are amazing!
A little too crowded

The kitchen was well equipped with a fridge, stove and there were plenty of utensils.
The mattresses were comfortable and each bed had a very good reading light.
The outdoor area had plenty of seating.
It's summer and our room at the front was too warm and stuffy. A fan would have been good. What bad luck for us that our Aussie dollar's exchange rate is very low so this room was very expensive.
