It sits a mile above the banks of the River Wye at Brockweir, with its excellent local shop and pub, is a few minutes’ drive from Tintern Abbey and offers wonderful walking as it is right on the Offas Dyke Path. This border territory is marked by stunning scenery and has brooding castles at Chepstow and Raglan, and market towns of Abergavenny and Monmouth to explore with more excellent walking in the Forest of Dean and along the riverbank. Fishing, riding, cycling and canoeing readily available. The area is wonderful for sightseeing and touring and easily reached year round. Chepstow’s racecourse and excellent golf courses are nearby.

Cottage itself would benefit from a deep clean but it did not detract from a wonderful week .

The A466 from Chepstow to Brockweir was closed.
The A466 from Chepstow to Brockweir was closed. The diversion was long and difficult and added at least an hour to our journey. We should have been informed of this and could have worked out an alternative route (which we did for our return journey). The access to the cottage from Brockweir is up a very narrow road. This again should have been mentioned in the original details not after we had paid the full amount and received directions to the property. The pub within 1 mile is closed.

The cottage is in a beautiful country side location, the owners were there if we needed them but not over looking you. The views were amazing and so quiet all you could here was nature. The inside is set out so well and comfortable. The cottage is ideal if you want to get away and not be disturbed. The little touch of home made cake left for us by the owners was lovely.

We enjoyed our time at Spring Cottage, the garden space was much larger than the photo showed.

The only downside are the narrow twisting lanes to get there;although there are places to pull in ,
in the unlikely event that you meet any traffic

If you love walking and the outdoors this is an ideal base.
If you love walking and the outdoors this is an ideal base. There are several footpaths from the front door and countless others close by, and the views from the cottage are breathtaking. A truly stunning area.
The accommodation is basic but has everything you need for a comfortable stay. It suited our needs and we would definitely return.
The hosts are very close by but in no way intruding, they were extremely friendly and happy to offer helpful local knowledge.
For info, the local pub is closed for refurbishment and others are a drive away.
