About this apartment rental
The Amsterdam House is located just steps away from the Mauch Chunk Opera House, Marion Hose Bar, Mauch Chunck Museum, the old jail and all of the Historic District.
We invite you to enjoy our second floor apartment. I, Laura am the owner and manager of this Victorian 3-family home and permanently reside in New York City.
My mini schnauzer, Copine, (pronounced Co-peen which is French for 'girlfriend') and I are here to ensure you have a pleasurable experience in the NYC Suite.
I am happy to assist in what there is to see and do in town and I'm happy to make recommendations!
As a recent owner, I purchased the entire 3-family home in the heart of Jim Thorpe with the intention of occasionally using the second floor suite as a respite from New York City. Because I have lived in Europe and especially loved the Netherlands, it seemed fitting to call it "The Amsterdam House" as it reminded me of some of the homes found there. Also, as Copine and I live and work in New York City, the apartment reminded me of quaint lofts found throughout the city. We invite you to our home away from home and hope you enjoy it as much as we do.
The kitchen is fully equipped for you to make everything from snacks to complete meals. There are plenty of pots and pans, knives, cutting boards, prep bowls, small food processor, 4-cup drip coffee maker including filters, toaster and even a large crock pot. We have plenty of spices and condiments for your use.
Because we occasionally use the apartment, there are two locked closets for our use. The other closets have plenty of room for our guests belongings.
The NYC Suite is located on the second floor, so please be prepared to climb stairs with your belongings. There is ON-STREET parking near the home, which can be limited after 3 pm on Fridays and during some festival weekends and holidays. Please be prepared to possibly park in the lot down by the train station--only a -10 minute walk through historic Jim Thorpe back to our house. The lot may charge a nominal fee ($5 to $10).
We have a 42" smart TV with cable and Netflix, HBO GO, Amazon Prime, Hulu for your use. You may log into the other apps with your account info. There is a DVD player and a few DVDs for your use - a Redbox is located at the Turkey Hill downtown and there's also one at the Giant in Lehighton.
The back bedroom has a full size bed with a twin pull-out trundle. It's a great room for the kids to have separate beds. Anyone staying in the back bedroom will find it convenient to access the main living area through the hallway instead of needing to go through the master bedroom when it's occupied.

Beautiful scenery and great location. Nice clean apartment with plenty room to relax. We pretty much walked wherever we went except for biking and leaf peeping.

We frequent the area for family reunions and family events. We truly enjoyed staying in the NYC Suite. It is very nice, clean, and has a fantastic location! The host Laura is such a nice lady and went to great extent to ensure that we felt welcome and was ready to address any issue or need. She even has put together a wonderful book of places to go, things to do, and menus of most of the places to eat in Jim Thorpe. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay there. Thank you so very much Laura!
