Franklin the owner was very kind and understanding. Unfortunately, the building is in a state of disrepair, there appeared to be an active leak in the ceiling and I could only bring myself to stay one night, despite having booked a week-long stay. I had to scramble for another place. (very stressful with kids) because I woke up after the first night with bits of the ceiling material stuck to my forearm. The building is VERY old so I was concerned given the age of the building that the materials in the ceiling could be hazardous to my / children's health. Upon check - the maid greeted us; they were very nice but had obviously been smoking in the unit because it smelled strongly of cigarettes. I was also not too impressed with the kitchen situation. Very few cooking options (one portable cook-top burner) it was difficult to work and cooking one item at a time is not ideal. The refrigerator was also making an awful whirring noise and did not keep anything very cold. I had to throw out everything I bought the next day. Overall, I would say the stay could be improved and the house has the potential to be really awesome. I hate leaving bad reviews.
Bullet points:
*Fix ceilings ( no family is going to feel safe with the ceiling the way it is)
* Improve the kitchen cooking options and replace/ repair the refrigerator
* Have cleaning staff avoid smoking inside the unit.

Very interesting location. Air conditioner in one bedroom only and it has seen better days. I would have liked to know that it was a second floor unit.

We were in Reading for a funeral in JANUARY. The apt. was clean, warm with comfortable king size beds. nice big shower with HOT water. Franklyn was very nice and accommodating, answered quickly to any requests. No stove only a hot plate, that's fine if you are planning not cooking full meals. Entrance is towards the back of the home. Sounds weird, but once you see the layout you understand. Your private entrance, walk up to the 2nd floor and you are there.

Apartment is pretty good…and a work in progress. Quite spacious and all necessary amenities for a short stay (no stove). Owner is quite amiable. Beds great and linens great. Three flat screens. Shortcomings are threefold: bathroom needs upgrade (no hot water on last day), entrance can be spooky at night, and parking is abhorrent. Overall, we enjoyed our stay, and would stay there again.

Wonderful apartment for our needs
This place was perfect for us. Very clean. Responsive hosts when there was a need. We were in town for our daughter’s wedding and it met our needs well! Beds were super comfy!! Loved the vintage doorknobs on all the doors!! Shower curtain is the same as the one we have in our home so that was cool!

We needed a place to rest our heads at the end of some long days visiting with family. This spot was perfect. The beds were large - a rare find in many AirBnBs and comfy with crisp, fresh linens. The hosts were easy to communicate with!

Beautiful accommodations
There's was a little confusion getting into the property but the rental managers couldn't have been more accommodating. They gave us an extra air conditioner, helped us carry our stuff in and up the steps, and even offered us drinks! Franklyn and Jill are very nice people and we would definitely rent from them again Beds were very comfy, lots of closet space, and even though it's only 2 bedrooms, because the living room doors can be closed, that worked for us as a bedroom as well (when we weren't using it as a dining room). All in all, it worked for us.
