About this house rental
Alpenglow Manor Guest House is situated on the beautiful and breathtaking mountainside of Mount Shasta, just one mile from the quaint and charming downtown of Mt. Shasta city. The Guest House has stunning views of the mountain from the kitchen, dining room, and living room that will leave you in awe, especially during the alpenglow, when the sun sets and bathes the mountain in brilliant colors of pink, purple and orange. The Guest House sits on the second story above the garage on 5 landscaped acres, which allows for the best opportunity for magnificent views. Your hosts live in the adjacent main house and are readily available for any questions. The secluded property has a gated entry and paved private drive that allows for peace and quiet while you relax and unwind. This is a perfect all-year-round vacation spot that accommodates up to 6 people with 2 bedrooms (each with a queen bed) and 1 bath, and an additional full futon in the living room. Please note: Due to our vacation rental permit we can legally have a maximum of 6 guests stay overnight.
The idyllic location of our Guest House is completely surrounded by nature but also only a 15 minute walk to downtown where you’ll have access to grocery stores, a yoga studio, post office, laundromat, rental equipment shops, gift shops, coffee shops, restaurants and more. We are a 20 minute drive to Mt. Shasta Ski Park, 15 minutes from the Nordic Center, and also conveniently located just up the street from Shastice Park, which hosts outdoor concerts in the summer and an ice skating rink in the winter.
The 1100 square foot Guest House is beautiful, clean and comfortable. The kitchen, dining room and living room have an open floor plan. Garage parking is available for one vehicle, and there is plenty of additional parking on the property for a family motor home or snowmobile trailer. The entryway features a large mudroom for storing skis, boots, etc. Inside your personal and private entrance is a fully equipped kitchen with coffee maker, coffee grinder, blender, microwave, cooking spices, a dishwasher and other essential kitchenware to making cooking a breeze. The dining room has amazing views of the mountain and pond from the craftsman-style dining table that seats 6. The cozy living room boasts a propane stove heater to keep you warm in the winter months, and a comfy couch plus a full futon with optional bedding to accommodate 2 sleepers. There is a 40' HD TV with an Amazon streaming service provided (or you can login with your own), a Blu-ray player that also plays DVDs and CDs, with a collection of movies, books and games to enjoy. Please note that we don't get normal network or cable channels. Free Wi-Fi is available. Both bedrooms offer queen beds with soft organic cotton sheets in summer, and plush luxury flannel sheets in winter. The bathroom is bright with high ceilings and has a tub/shower, organic towels and personal size natural bath soap, lotion, and shampoo compliments of your hosts, in case you forget something. Only eco-friendly cleaning products are used throughout the Guest House.
Our vacation rental is licensed with Siskiyou County so you can book with confidence. We want to keep a clean and allergy free environment for all of our guests, so at this time we do not accept pets or smoking. Walk the 5-acre grounds and pick a picnic spot or snowshoe right out your door, Alpenglow Manor Guest House is the perfect location for your next getaway.
Security Note: We have 5 exterior security cameras. One security camera outside the breezeway entrance (because that's where our mail is most often picked up and dropped off by delivery services) and one facing the barn. We have three additional cameras on our main house, two on the front porch of the main house (one with view of the porch steps, the other with view of the front yard to monitor the sprinklers) and one on our back deck to monitor the sprinklers in the back yard. They will be on during your stay. There are no cameras located inside the guesthouse, garage or breezeway or facing the guest seating area. All security cameras only view some limited outside space.

The property and location was perfect in every way. A beautiful, peaceful retreat with spectacular views of the mountain. All this just five minutes from downtown Shasta where we enjoyed multiple restaurants and
all sorts of unique shops. Don't hesitate on this property!

Incredible natural beauty, privacy and quiet at this gem of a guesthouse. Mt Shasta towers above the five-acre site where native manzanitas and dogwoods, oaks and a koi pond surround the open outdoor spaces. Careful attention paid to healthy cleaning and laundry products, comfortable and well-equipped. Highly recommend!

What a wonderful week!
We absolutely loved our week at this property and in Shasta in general. The location of this guesthouse was perfect for us -a mile from town in a quiet neighborhood at the base if Mt. Shasta. The house was spacious, clean, private. The extensive grounds were so pretty -a large pond, grass, gardens, trees. The owners are friendly, responsive, and seemed to take cues from us regarding how much to interact. There's a spacious kitchen and living room with lots of books and movies. I loved that there are fans in each room to circulate the lovely cool air every morning and night (we were there in summer). It just felt so private and restful, with all the amenities we needed. We'll definitely return!

Beautiful View of Mount Shasta
It was spacious, clean, quiet, comfortable, amazing and had all the comforts you could possible need. Abundant dvds, along with fire stick for Netflix, Amazon prime, and a bunch more. Will come back again. Even better than pictures. Best place in Mount Shasta.

Stellar Experience
The guesthouse was sparkling clean, and the host provided everything we could possible need to be comfortable for our 11-night stay. The acres surrounding the guesthouse were peaceful and quiet, with extraordinary views of the changing weather over Mount Shasta. We look forward to returning.

Marvelous Place to Stay for Outdoor Activities on Mt Shasta
Beautiful open plan, lots of room in the kitchen, comfortable living room. It is set up for visitors only. It’s not someone’s mountain cabin they use and rent occasionally. Giant picture windows with marvelous view of Mt Shasta. Easy access to Mt Shasta. Spacious indoor garage. This was our second stay and it was as good as our first five years ago. Do not miss!

Comfortable and Relaxing
While conditions were not ideal during our recent visit, due to multiple wildfires in the vicinity creating unhealthy air quality, we nevertheless enjoyed the wonderful property. With the large, well equipped open kitchen/living area and big windows, we were able to relax by reading, cooking, practicing yoga and tai chi, and watching movies. We really appreciated the new air conditioner and air purifier, so important to have available while experiencing the unusually bad conditions. When the air cleared a bit, we enjoyed the outdoor seating area and the large, beautiful property. We look forward to our next visit!

Beautiful Property, Excellent Hosts
We loved staying at this property, it had plenty of space for two adults and two children. It was the most clean and organized VRBO experience I have had to date - there were detailed instructions to use everything, it was stocked with everything you could ever need, and the furniture was in great shape.
While there, we enjoyed hiking at Lake Siskiyou, watching all of the animals on the property, and drinking coffee to the beautiful mountain view. The owners were very kind and hospitable but maintained our privacy; we talked for a few minutes at checkout and waved hello when we were walking around in the yard. Cailin responded to messages very promptly. I really hope to stay here again someday!

Tranquil perfection!
We couldn't have been happier! Lovely home on a spectacular property. Each morning I would get up and drink my coffee amongst the tall trees and watch the family of quail foraging, big eared hares hopping and the mama and baby deer. Each day was a new Shasta adventure.... hiking, kayaking, waterfalls! I'm already ready to return! Perfect location! Superb hosts! Thank you!

A Delight, As Always!
We come here every year, since it is one of the loveliest places we have ever stayed. This year, just outside the living room window, we got to watch a pair of beautiful, blue-grey lynx hunting squirrels and birds in the branches of a conifer. We felt like David Attenborough. If you love Nature, this is the place to come!

Quiet, beautiful stay in Shasta, great base for enjoying the area.
I came for a personal writing retreat, and time in nature. This place is ideally located, with a fabulous view of the mountains, at the far side of town, yet close to all that town has to offer. Cailin, the main host is wonderful--so warm, kind, and available, but not at all intrusive. Just right.
Its a few minutes from the health food store, which has good take out smoothies and food. You are close to the road up Shasta mountain. Its clean, well designed, tasteful, well appointed with kitchen ware, washer and dryer. The land is expansive, peaceful and blissfully quiet, and there is a private out door space for sitting and dining if you wish. Although your hosts live there, there is good separation between the space and their house. I had a blissful time. I hope to spend more time with this as a base.So grateful to be there. Thanks Cailin and Tim.

Nicest home-away-from-home we've ever stayed in!
We are a homeschooling family of nature lovers, enamored of natural beauty, peaceful surroundings, and good coffee. Cailin's impeccably kept holiday flat had it all. My seven-year-old son loved wandering the grounds, playing in the little fairy house outside, with the stuffed animals inside, and watching the magical mountain change colors every morning, as the sunrise played out in the window over his bed. He was thrilled to learn about how a mountain makes its own weather, while watching it happen right before his eyes. We were really close to the road up the mountain for sledding, and just around the corner from a lovely outdoor skating rink. It was convenient to everything, and yet felt very secluded and peaceful. My husband and I loved how clean and well furnished and equipped it was, especially the amazing kitchen! (and this is from a gourmet cook, used to cooking 21 meals each week, and baking all her own bread). Another wonderful thing about this rental: the beds were extremely comfortable for our old and weary bones, when returning from a day of sledding. Cailin and Tim were friendly and helpful, yet gave us space and plenty of privacy. It is a shame to review it, really -- better to keep such a gem to ourselves! We are very much looking forward to our next stay.

And Cailin is a fabulous host. She was there to greet us and to say goodbye, and she had great suggestions for things to do and places to eat.

Outstanding!
My bride and I have stayed in over 20 rentals and this is the best. It started with a clean wrapped sponge at the sink and got better when I found out the knives are sharp. How many times have you discoved knives that would not cut warm butter. Everything said about the views is absolutely true. The landscaping is reminiscent of a botanical garden. And, the quiet was wonderful. This will be our go to place in Mt. Shasta. Gayle and Neal

A Wonderful Place to Stay
My husband and I stayed at Eco-friendly guest house and it was absolutely wonderful. We have stayed at a number of places on Mt. Shasta over the past 20 years and this is by far the best! It is clean, spacious, finely decorated, very comfortable, with amazing views of Mt. Shasta. It is conveniently located yet in a rural setting. Cailin is friendly and helpful and a pleasure to interact with. Next time we plan on having other family members join us (maximum of 6) and it will be spacious for all of us. We plan to make this our new place to stay on our regular visits to Mt. Shasta. Lori

Outstanding Winter Retreat
Roomy, open, outstanding views of Mt. Shasta from various windows, great well equipped kitchen fit for cooking a complete roasted turkey Xmas dinner. Everything is set up with the comfort of the guests in mind. We've stayed in many places over Xmas but this was by far the best. And the owners are warm and welcoming but after that you never see or hear them. Very quiet location. I'd be happy to stay there again and again.

Outstanding
What a delightful place to stay. The guest house is spacious and comfortable, with an incredible view of Mount Shasta as well as good views of Black Butte and Mount Eddy. The beds are extremely comfortable, and I love the open feel of the bathroom with its high ceiling and natural light. The unit is up one flight of stairs; great for maximizing the views and air flow, but something to note for anyone with mobility problems.
The property is just as described, lush and park-like. The hosts, Cailin and Tim, live in the adjacent but separate main house, readily available if needed but careful to provide privacy to the guests.
On each of multiple visits, Cailin and Tim were gracious hosts, providing for basic needs and beyond. On this summer's visit, the lingering snow kept the road to some of the hiking trails closed much later than normal. When we asked about it, Cailin went out of her way to find out where there were accessible hikes with wildflowers currently blooming. Later in the visit, she surprised us with freshly baked cookies, still warm from the oven.
As you can see from the reviews listed on this site, guests are overwhelmingly happy with this location. Nevertheless, the hosts seek to continually improve it. There is a book in the unit for guests to write suggestions. I noticed several of these suggestions already implemented in the unit, from the simple addition of kid-friendly plates to the investment of a full-size washer and dryer.
Highly recommended!

Great stay
Amazing property! An absolutely amazing view of the mountain and great landscaping! When cooking dinners or breakfast there's a beautiful little pond you can look at. The guest house is in great shape and very clean.
I was worried when I informed there was no AC. We stayed in the middle of a heat spell and have an infant daughter. But the owner suggested to open all the windows at night and close them up early, she said it would stay cool during the day and it did!
We definitely want to stay in this location again.
